Welcome to Hisn Kayfa, one of the hardest starts in EU4. But is EU4 hardest start ACTUALLY that hard? Well, with endless conquest and the antithesis to playing tall, we're about to prove that wrong... mostly. Call this an EU4 guide or an EU4 Hisn Kayfa guide because I play perfectly, and I'll show that when I take on EU4 Red Hawk in Speed5 this monday.

red hawk is about to experience an extraordinary amount of pain, but then again laith wont be able to use console commands, so he will be at a disadvantage.

Absolutely, their ideas are heavily on military and very good for a defensive/unsuspect rise as a superpower (I personally enjoy bodying Ottos and Mamluks early). Here's hoping the next DLC/update brings some great flavor to them!

Itd be great rp if they were the kind of nation you puppet for their mission tree, since they should have (or be able to earn) permanent claims on all of Arabia.

Hopefully they (along with Persia, Mamluks and... basically every non-Turkish nation in the middle east, really) get a substantial glow-up in the next expansion, they sorely need it. They should obviously have missions focused on reclaiming their old glory & reforming the Ayyubid Sultanate, maybe allowing them to form Egypt and later Arabia while ignoring most requirements (namely, culture & tech) as well, which would fit flavour-wise.

On normal difficulty you beat AQ day one with dulkadir(call them so AQ goes to siege them), if they ally Ottomans restart or beat QQ using Ajam and Mamuluks when you get them to ally you, on very hard QQ is your only option for first war because AQ will ally Ottomans by the time you would be strong enough to win

For some reason I decided to go for the challenge of completing Saladin's Ambition with the *very first* ruler (probably because of his name and the achievement name lol). I finished it when he turned 81 lol. Very fun but very challenging. If you don't powergame it like I did the achievement is fairly simple and the start is so fun. Some Tips: It's actually pretty easy to ally the Ottoman and break out of your starting position into Arabia. The hardest part is the Mamluks. So make sure to start fighting them and cutting them down before they start dominating. I recommend keeping the top of the Levant in Mamluk hands until the very end, but never giving it to the Ottomans. They'll never be able to take it because you keep calling them in to your wars, so they have a constant truce with the Mamluks, and they won't get hostile that they want your land, because the AI "thinks" it can expand into the Mamluks.

Probably best to restart till AQ does ally Otto. If you’re able to RM Otto before them you can prevent that. Allying Shirvan to double team AQ, then you can expand and release Syria - use Ottos to defeat mamluks to reclaim Syrian cores and also attack QQ, release Iraq

If you have the right dlc, you could use favours to get your Syrian vassal's cores back from an allied mamluks, though they might break the alliance if they decide that actually they do want Syria back after all.

@@cobaltcorsair592 I think it better to ally Otto and use them against Mams. If you can take some of the Anatolia minors before Ottos do, you can slow down their mission tree. Because if they get too far, they get claims and keeping the alliance is next to impossible.

i think to get them to not take the trust hit you have to give them occupation of everything thing have marked as red or yellow, and only then will the AI realise it doesn't actually want anything.

It's not really that hard, I think it took me 1 restart to get the achievement. Karabakh though? That's a super tough game to survive, especially if you stick with Coptic
