I do it because it creates longer and nicer lines, but only with my black leggings, I don’t like the way it looks when skaters put their skin colored tights over their boots, it kinda ruins the illusion and make the outfit look « messy » for me 😕 (I mean there are other solutions to fix your laces)

It also prevents little bits of ice getting inside the skate when you fall or something similar^^

Brooo I can’t do my salchow I can’t get my head around it and it’s so stressfull and I can tell my coach hates me😭😭

it also keeps my ankles warm and if my skates come loose it helps keep my laces tighter than it would be without

I have paramilitary boots that have lace hooks and the amount of times I trip when my feet are close enough for them to catch is ridiculous sometimes. I deffo see why you’d wear leggings over those.

I do it because I don’t like scratching my skates. Pretty shallow lol but I’m attached.

As a former figure skater I just want to say that the part of her video where she said that it makes better lines is a lie. It’s the same skate and lines are made from force.

Oh ya, another thing. It also helps keep the laces tied! Recently for the past few competitions I’ve been in, my coach wanted my team to wear in the boot leggings and we had to use skate tape to keep the laces tied and not in the way and such

I used to get my toe picks in my pant legs because I had flare leggings, these skin tights are my fav

I am not a figure skater, but I still do this with my jeans or pants when I go ice skating in winter. Unless you're wearing skinny jeans the fabric just creates unnecessary pressure points. And like you said, less likely to get your laces caught on something.

The main reason that I do it is so the laces are secure, as she stated. This is especially if I have longer laces, as to not trip over them somehow, and also while it's not the same thing, it kinda makes me feel better about my skates staying a little tighter without having to put tape on my laces every time I skate

it also keeps ur ankles and bones warmer so u can move more smoothly and nicely without being as stiff and it stops the ice plow getting in ur skate and freezing ur ankles

I always covered my skates with my leggings cus they were too long for me but once in my dress i had tights that were inside of my skates and my lace untied and i tripped😭

I wear my leg warmers over my skates to keep heat in. The longer I have feeling in my toes during practice, the better.

i do that mostly because if I stuff all that fabric in it'll make dents on my skin, and that additional friction may rub my skin off or give me blisters. Also to keep the laces in place and prevent them from losening, and protects the boots from being scratched either by my blades or the ice when i fall.
