@@bigblock67camaro No, the story of Adam and Eve originated in the Bible, and other cultures copied that. It is still true, however, and proves God's existence. "And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself" (Genesis 3:10, KJV). That is, even though Adam tried to cover his sin with fig-leaves (i.e., his own works), he knew that it was inadequate, and he knew that God could see his sin.
Mother Nature is a “new age” doctrine for spiritualists out there who believe that we should worship creation (nature) rather than the creator (God). It’s not really new age even because that’s really paganism and the Bible is rife with stories of civilizations turning away from Him to indulge in their worship of nature. And over and over again, He pours His judgement on them. Mankind really never learns.
@@depressoespressogachalol415, God created us in his image. Gender exists because of him and he Genders himself as Father throughout the Bible. We know he is not above gender because he Genders himself.
True Christian men and women have zero difficulty understanding the balance that one gives to the other and the purpose of their being. Unfortunately, the extreme majority of the world and it's inhabitants do not follow God, so simple concepts are lost of them.
It was a difficult question. We know that is what the Bible teaches but sometimes you just have to ask the question why. Not because you want to push a certain agenda but you just want to understand. For many Christians, it is easy to accept what God has written in the Scriptures. We take it as God says it but for others further explanation is needed. I am pretty we encounter difficult questions from time to time about our beliefs and it is ok because it makes us better and help us to become more confident in what we stand for. The question is quite intriguing and I don't think it was easy to answer nor was it foolish to ask the question and I don't think it's easy to stand in front of a crowd and answer all these questions satisfactorily. He did not have the time to sit down and think what answer to give to the lady. It was a Q&A session but I think he did a great job.
100 percent agree with you. Also, she makes it seem as though there were no female gods lol The Israelites worshipped idols that were female goddesses,on several occasions.I have a friend who tries to pull that,"what if God were a female thing"? I answer the same way, that it wouldn't of mattered because it wouldn't of been the first time that the Jews had worshipped a female god, hell they even worshipped an image of a calf lol So I know she was trying to go the whole sexisim route, but I don't think it's applicable because all cultures have a history of worshipping male and female gods.
That's beautifully put. 'Because the bible' will not satisfy the sort of person who asks that question. We should learn how to answer these questions without recourse to scripture.
How about a natural answer: men are XY, and there for represent both genders (man and woman). It is the seed of a man that determines whether the new formed child is a girl or a boy. The Creator from the start made us equals; and through Jesus, He restored. There are just different functions; with Jesus being the perfect example for men to follow. Eph 5 : 25.
@@1godonlyone119 you are correct in part, I was thinking of Gen 2:18 and a translation that had the word comparable in the verse. The Hebrew word for helper or help in that same verse also mostly gets used to refer to G-d as man's helper. I'm not saying one is better over the other just pointing out that G-d holds women with great value. Biologically women are generally not as physically strong (different functions). Plus I think you've missed my original point or maybe you're like the rest of the internet and you're a troll looking to start an argument?
@@1godonlyone119 I think the Genesis account shows us that men and women are equal. God could have created women from a bone in the head, inferring that women are superior. Or He could have used a bone from the foot, drawing the conclusion that men are superior. But what did God do? He pulled out a rib from Adam's side and created women from that, showing that man and woman are to live side by side. Neither one is the master of the other, they are partners, equals, two halves of the same whole.
There are much better ways to answer this question. She sounded naturally curious, not accusing at all. I’m not a feminist, I’ve studied theology, and I worked in churches for 10 years... and I’ve asked the same question. You shouldn’t answer a question with, “Is that a problem for you?” It doesn’t help anyone who is trying to learn the nature of God. Even if they’re a jerk about it (which she was not) if someone is asking about nature of God, it’s a great opportunity that shouldn’t be shot down defensively. God is depicted as male because a, Jesus was male; and b, men were given the specific task of authority since the Garden of Eden. (When Eve took the for forbidden fruit, Adam was held responsible.) God is to be seen as the ultimate authority, and when men look to God, they should see Him as the representation of GOOD male authority they should emulate as opposed to oppressive male authority. Men are to be prepared to lead people, provide, and even die for people, as Jesus has led, provided, and died for others. Women represent the majesty and mystery of God’s creations, and the power they hold to further God’s kingdom. (Men provide, women multiply.) They represent the nurturing, beautiful, comforting elements of God; but they also mysterious, incredible power of His church. But we don’t call God “mother” because men need a proper male authoritative role to emulate and respect. It’s not meant to be an insult to women, but more of a standard for men to respect, honor, and emulate. There are actually cults that call God “mother”, and it’s warped their authority figures in unBiblical ways. To call God “mother” disrupts the hierarchy of authority, and therefore, creates chaos and distortion of responsibilities. That’s how you answer that question.
Good way of answering that question because I just had someone from a church come to me when I was shopping and said that God is both male and female. So I told him that I do study the scriptures and I will go to the Father with that question. Im more on testing the spirit and going to the father for everything. I believed and still believed God is a male.
It wouldn’t be a problem in another decade, but in this decade when you ask about this question, we see the agenda trying to redefine God’s masculine gender for the sake of feminism, and that is the reason why the question was: Is there a problem with this ? Like saying: you might think there is a problem with this because society has endoctrinated you into a Cold War about genders, but if you truly think about God’s pronouns you will see there isn’t a problem there to be fixed
Oh man, if only you could see how much YOU yourself sound like a cultist with this explanation. The thing is, the same way you believe in no other god but your own, this logic also shows why your god is also probably not the right one. But alas, you will never realize this, as once someone has achieved the level of fervent blind faith in dogma that you have, such concepts as "proof" and "fact" fade to black or at best take on an entirely different reality for you. The god of Christianity is called a Him because that was what worked historically to make the religion stick and become popular, for various social and psychological reasons, some of which you abstractly intimated at in your TLDR. The Christian God is a him for the same reason "the cults" you refer to have different genders or conceptions of god. All these gods are made up by man to deal with existential dread and the difficult aspects of daily life, and the characteristics of a given religion including the gender of its deitys will change based on various interesting factors (i.e. whatever most people that believe in thay religion would want their god to be like). No. THAT is how you answer that question.
Thank you. I had the same question and didn't understand. May I ask the scriptural basis for why you say women represent the majesty and mystery of God's creations please? I'd like to do my own study and any help you provide would be appreciated.
Until people starts referring to "God" as "Mother", it will! You guys said it so yourself, god has no gender! Why give it one in the first place? This guy claims that because this being has the qualities of a "father". How much do you want to bet that if you guys describe the qualities of a "mother", your god will also have those.
@@mstr293 Where do we get the concept of gender from? Male or female? Man was made in the image of God and were created first to have dominion over all our dwelling place earth and all that is in it, even woman. The word is clear in Genesis 3.

THIS. She might genuinely wonders why. We shall not make negative assumptions about this stranger just for asking a simple question. She was not rude at all.
We don't have enough of an understanding of Spiritual existance to determine how or if gender is an issue. What we do know is that God created Man in his image male and female he created them. Jesus Christ, who is God is personified in the male image. Jesus Christ refers to God as the Father. Therefore we can stop trying to make God in our image or the image that we are comfortable with and except what God has given us to know him. By making gender an issue concerning God you show that you are of the world and not of the spirit. You are conforming to the culture of the world. STOP! What you think or what you may believe does not change TRUTH. GOD does not conform to the world or our feelings or beliefs rather we MUST conform to him. Believe what God has told us and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. STOP with the feminist propaganda nonsense.
Come on Turek this has to be theology 101. It is because God has arranged relationships in a specific way. As God is the Head of the Trinity and Jesus is Head of the Church and man the head of the household. Is it not that simple
Shalom. I do respect brother Tucker, but his exposition on the question about YHWH "gender" is very, VERY Weak. In Colossian 1:16-19 He have the answer If Yeshua is the Image of the Invisible God, even God have and Image..have symmetry, so also as Yeshua is of a male gender and He is the Image of the Invisible God, God is also of a male gender,(With out a sex organ). The female characteristic in a woman, like beauty, wisdom and love, come from our Creator. Also God create man first No a woman... Paul explain this mistery... 1 Corinthians 11:1-17 , and other places. Shalom.
@J Ríos The Lord appeared again to Abraham near the oak grove belonging to Mamre. One day Abraham was sitting at the entrance to his tent during the hottest part of the day. @Steven Halliwell amen steven it'swhy most are going too Hell as jesus said most are not interested in what his word actually stands for, they dont want to practice his word of love and forgiveness.
Kudos to the young lady for using her courage to ask the question. Great question! And God is ALL, both masculine and feminine. We were created in their image. So, to me, it would make sense to refer to God as either pronoun.
@@hakeemrohmed5436 masculinity and femininity are both rooted in God’s character. Femininity didn’t come out of nowhere. That doesn’t cancel out God being referred to as “He”.
Ughhhj stop dancing around it and just ask what you really want to ask! Why can't god be a woman....right? No,god is a male, a father (the father) that's why....so no you can bring your feminist bs into the church.thats what that question was really about
Is Jesus Christ God? Was Jesus Christ personified as a male? Does Christ refer to God as a father or a mother? It is quite clear how God personifies Himself.
In the Aramaic prayer that Jesus taught us it says "awoon", which refers to both a mother and a father. I think this discussion is not held on a very honest level because we all know what emotionally charged assumptions will fly up the minute we have it openly. I do think there is a valid objection here. He said so himself, God is both male and female, so there is no real reason why we shouldn't call Him by both pronouns. "Our Mother and our Father who art in Heaven..." Or "our parents" or simply "our God" or something like this. I don't think it would be a problem to consider this in the Christian faith, as it can help to make it more wholesome and accessible for people considering the faith.
Well, the problem comes from making in our image rather us from His. God refers to himself in masculine form. Not because he is make by existence but mostly by nature. Not to say he can't evet take the form of a female at will if he chooses to appear as such, but trying say that he is both make and female is, in my opinion, incorrect. He is God and he chose to refer to himself in masculine. I believe it's important to respect that as he is God.
Wow this is one of the toughest questions I heard in a while . One can argue that Jesus could of been born gender less because God is genderless, yet we refer God as a HE. Is this a cultural thing ? Did Jesus really say “father “ when speaking to God . What does Fathet mean in hewbrew. Can a women be called father in that time ? These are questions I need to look into
Very good questions to be asking, keep asking those types of questions! you will find all sorts of information you never would have. Studying theology, the ancient text and languages as much as possible to understand the true meaning of the texts AND the history of it and around it and what causes changes in translations, these are big questions and important ones. Keep chasing down truth my friend
God compared himself to a mother of eagles i think it was once. Or jesus wanted to collect israel like a HEN under her wings. Remember all good comes from God. Also motherly qualities! But he is still called "The Father" and not sticking to that term is disobedience I think. Why would you call God the Father something else than Jesus (his SON) did. It isnt demeaning to women and mothers at all.
His qualities were not the question. The question is why do we refer to God as a male. Was Jesus Christ God? Was Jesus Chrsit a Male? Jesus is the logos, the Word that became flesh and dwelt among us as a Male.
It's a bunch of BS. The reason is because man created god when women were not valued to be on par with man...so it doesn't surprise me that god is a he.
Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'?
God is GOD. He did what he did and created the earth and universe. In order to reproduce life he created a male to plant the seed and a female to grow the seed. You cant have one without the other! Order and respect is in both creations.
Probably the one of the only times ive seen Frank lacking in his explanation. God is the father because he was the giver of all life (along with Franks descriptions) but God isnt the woman because the Universe is the woman. God sparked everything into existence and the universe gave birth to life and continues to be the womb that gives birth to life from God
Altitude ................ I would like to suggest that you read or re read Genesis chpt 1 . God spoke everything in existence not sparked. The universe did not give birth to life.
bigblock67camaro Yes i get that God spoke everything into existence. My point is that the universe is what God created and chose to harbor all of life in the same way that a man chooses his wife to bear his children (except that men arent God an didnt create the woman themselves). But also the universe is what God uses to bring about duality to show his standard of goodness. The universe is a physical, material thing and all sin derives from physical, materialist things. Actually the story of Adam and Eve somewhat mimics this, Adam was living in Gods presence and was sin free, but when Eve was created she created the duality between them by sinning an disobeying God. Only difference is that God obviously cannot and would not sin since he is God and not human. God is spirit and the universe is physical an that is why when Adam an Eve sinned they saw that they were naked because they were probably in spirit with God and they FELL (the fall of man) meaning that they fell from being in Gods spiritual presence to being on earth in physical form
this only about wifes who interrupt their husbands while they was preaching and starting to correct them . the same can b said about the husbands who interrupt their wifes while they was preaching and starting to correct them ... but it's very rare , most often it's wifes likes to correct husbands HA HA HA )))
A better answer and simpler one to this question is gender is physical, the Spirit has no gender.. hence God has no gender, also when we are in heaven there will be no more male and female.. no more pro creating etc.. as Jesus explained we will be like the Angels, just not servants like they are but offspring of God Himself. That's who we are, as God is Spirit so are we, even in this world, but to live on this planet we need a body, which is given to us at birth.. Same as for Jesus, a body was prepared for Him according to scripture
As for the Father being the Father of all you can see it in a simple example, The Father is the apple tree, the seed in the apple is the male and the earth is the female... That's how it works, all the apples comes from the tree, they are carried in the seed which is the male on earth this is also why the leanage in the Bible is documented via male lines and first born males, then the seed is planted in the earth which is the mother...
God is referred to as Man because the word Man does not mean gender. In Hebrew it means Spirit being. The English word for man is not rightly defined. Man does not mean Male. That’s two different things. God is a man like So is everyone...because man means Spirit being. Human means -Humus -man. Spirit in a dirt body. That’s why the word woman has the word man in it.. She is also a man but with a womb.. Wombed man.... God is referred to as Father because the word Father in Hebrew is aba which means Source. He is the Source of all things.
I really like what Frank said at the end of this video, because she needs to Jesus’s interactions with women in the New Testament. He taught women in a society where Rabbis considered teaching a woman to be a waste of time, and they wouldn’t talk with a woman in public. That’s why, with the Samaritan woman, it says that Jesus’s disciples were surprised to find him talking with a woman.
God has no gender. God is spirit. He is the " I AM!" THE BEGINNING and the End, the First and Last. Who are we to comprehend the mind of God? We try to understand the spirit world and make it the physical world. God only referred to as Father so we can grasp a little bit of who he is.
I do believe God is a woman. Nothing beats an eternal love of a mother. Can you imagine having tough love, discipline, no nonsense, no emotion as a god? Most men are like that. Theres no way god isnt a woman. Women creates life, gives birth.
There is a simple explanation, Lord's prayer as taught by Jesus Christ starts with "Our FATHER......" You can't go around of it if you are a true Christian.
God wishes to be referred as the Father, definitely a masculine trait, although He is neither masculine nor feminine. He's God. Yet the point of the matter is God is establishing a ranking system for the family. In fact when God created people He created man first, then woman. Not that man was greater than the woman, but was given authority over her, which can be best described as his responsibilities to her. (He failed that miserably too) All through the Bible God calls the men to be the leaders in their homes. This is to be a spiritual protection for the wife and children. The wife is there to encourage and support her husband, and the two of them are to raise (train) their children together. If we understand the spiritual make up of the family unit it is because we understand why God refers to Himself in the masculine sense.
Who got Mary pregnant? God almighty. And who can get a woman pregnant? A man who then becomes a father, and her a mother. If God were referred to as God the Mother, then the Mother got Mary pregnant? That's the kind of feminist stupidity I see, mostly from women who have a chip on their shoulder. God can refer to himself however he pleases. In my humble opinion, the word Father is a title, not a descriptor of his appearance since the Father is immaterial, spiritual being. God is a tri-being, and if the Son, Jesus the Christ, is a man, which he is, then it only is logical for the other two beings of God to also be male, namely the Father and the Holy Spirit.
Seriously...we're grappling with the concepts of God's presence in our lives and how to acknowledge and meet the expectations of our faith, yet our new generation of adults are so handicapped by "social justice" drivel that all thought stops at the word, "He." They obsess over which pronoun is used and how to best label and categorize God to fit a pop-culture concept of life. This pseudo-intellectualism that has become so pervasive is a substitute for critical and meaningful thought and is more corrosive to rational truth than anything that has come before.
If the girl who asked this question sees this video and reads these comments, never stop asking questions but you may want to start questioning your college professors and the beliefs they're imparting onto you. Prove all things.
yet another counterdiction of the bible everyone is created equal but men are more important dont have incest but adam and eve children did i can go on and on
Paul called by God? Yes, according to Paul; who writes in Gal 1:1 ,"Paul an apostle--sent not from men nor by man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead--". 11, "I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the gospel I preached is not of human origin". 12, "I did not receive it from any man nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ". Paul is saying that Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, James, Peter have not received from God what they wrote. And none of them affirmed Paul's claim; that of all NT scribes, Jesus talked only to him. And according to Paul, Jesus must have spoken to Paul for several years. But Paul admits to being hunted, persecuted, beaten, tortured, etc., by both Gentiles and the Judeans. But Paul avoids to tell us if he was beaten, chased, etc., because of saying that God talked to him. Judeans hunted Jesus and wanted him dead, but the Bible said it was mostly because Jesus claimed he was God. Paul did not claim to be God. By claiming to be in touch with Jesus, it was probably main or only reason for many to want him dead. Was Paul as clazy after changing God or religion as he was before the change of his mind?
Because God is masculine. Like a man, he has power and is not like a female in that she is the weaker vessel. Also, males have xy chromosomes right? Both male and female.
God is never referred to as mother because the Bible was written by a patriarchal society. End of story. Frank would have much more credibility if he just said that. Lol Paul really saw equality, almost as if he didn’t say slaves shouldn’t obey their masters and women should stay quiet in church. Who is this dude fooling?
I think that men have half the good qualities of the triune god head and women have the other half. Maybe that's why when you get married you become one flesh
It's hard concept to grasp bc God isn't human. He is an infinite being. Everything good in us began in Him. But He created Adam in His own image first and saw that Adam was lonely so He made wo-man (from man) out from Adam and called her Eve. Now, for all intents and purposes, God could've made another Adam like a twin, if He just didn't want him to not be lonely. But He created a different being that Adam could enjoy and have companionship on entirely different level. And, so then, He gave Adam of man certain attributes to carry and Eve of woman certain attributes to carry. Two different humans become one in God. All that is good began in Him. That's what I think it is imo
Basically a silly discussion resulting from the fact that English (which is not the language of the bible) uses the word "man" both for "male person" and for "human being"
The correct answer here is that God created the male gender in his image, and made woman afterwards. Nothing wrong with being a woman, they have better social skills, greater beauty, and other benefits.
You cannot take a metaphor, like God as a father or mother, & then claim God has gender. The point is, that is nit picky & an empty argument. You can think of God either way though.
Let's be honest here, if you have strong belief in God, it doesn't really matter. Like you don't question why your Father is male. It's just such a trivial and useless question to ask.
God makes appearances in the Bible on multiple occasions in many forms. Sometimes He appears in the form of fire, as he did on Mt. Sinai in to Moses. This can be found in Exodus 20:18. I understand the girl's confusion. Is fire masculine or feminine? Is it doing a disservice to God to only refer to Him as masculine, when He is often seen as everything and capable of everything? In Joshua 6:13-15, Joshua finds a man who he initially does not recognize. I was told this man was God. I'm sure that is up for debate, though. God is so ultimate that He has qualities outside of our comprehension. If we were to know more about these qualities, His gender may not even be an issue, or interesting to us.
I disagree with Frank on this one, God is a male image as he made adam and if we go down this "gender equality" slope are we oing to now change the bible to fit society? remember what he said about that, also, should we change the our father prayer to "Our Person in heaven, hallowed be your name ..." ?
Frank you are losing my respect, it’s been a few times you lost the question. Adam was the image of God , Eve came from Adam. Our father who art in heaven , not our mother.
No I think you didn’t really grasp what frank was trying to say . So are you trying to say that woman are not to be considered creatures in the image of God ? Certainly not
Jesus is a physical image, a male figure (not female). Jesus is God and sits on His thrown, in Heaven. The bible says that we will (SEE HIM) as he is, in Heaven. If God is not an image or figure, then how can anyone SEE HIM.
Jesus said “God is a spirit” how we refer to God is just language. Male and Female are equal but serve different roles. Together we are one flesh, but within that unison we are to support each other differently. This is where pronouns come in. We are all God’s children through Jesus that is the most important thing to understand.
Because Numbers 23:19 God is not a man. And I'm surprised he mentioned at 1:00 mins of the video that we refer to God as Father instead of the trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit).
It's interesting because although I believe it takes both the Male and Female genders to better represent God's qualities, I also believe masculinity is a dominant trait in God the Father, and don't think it would really make sense to call Him Mother. Adam, for example, was made in God's image as a Male. Eve was taken out of him, but aside from a removed ribbed, nothing changed physiologically speaking. Also, the Bible overwhelmingly refers to God in a masculine sense, but of course, if you're a feminist, this is not something you probably want to be okay with.
