More excitement, more people to meet, and not everybody knows who they are in the big city. More places to work. It's that way everywhere.

What's wrong with this immigration officer ? He is an example of the problems we have in Ghana. Very shallow minded. That's why I always say "Not all advice from older people can be accepted because foolish people grow old too."

@@pfanomukhodobwane1666 preach. I come from a culture where someone older is automatically deemed right...there's ALOT of dumb older or old people out here. And if you say it, you are ill mannered...abeg please, it is our time, the older generation did theirs, we are grateful, but it's our time to move Africa to a new age.

Great debate, African government must listen, youth must speak up and create platform. Entrepreneurship is also key.

I LOVE your street interviews. They are so balanced, so fair, and so informative to someone who does not live in Africa. Also ... I love watching the faces of those in the background when someone is speaking. Dynamic. Thank you for making these videos. They matter. The discussion matters. The diverse views matter.

Loved the video...very enlightening.The government should focus on making rural areas better and this might even lead to a decline of informal settlement in the cities while creating more employment opportunities in rural areas.
@benjaminsmith2287
@benjaminsmith2287 4 года назад
They seem to follow the urban sprawl method. In fact, if you are Ghanaian can you tell me if the Accra/Greater Accra area is just that. Is it a city that is every expanding and then everywhere else is a connector to the next city? Is that the attempt? In most societies, they go from the cities outward.

Sometimes I get tired when I see or experience the same powerful men who always talk too loudly and too much bullshit. But then there is always that woman who raises her voice at the right moment and uses her energy to balance the seeds of greed and destruction. My solidarity goes out to you!

This is the same situation we face in my country The Gambia. After finishing your university you're posted to a place where you can't even get network to make call let alone have other opportunities that people in the urban areas are having. For a teacher in the rural area you'll be posted in a place where you hardly see cars or shop to do other things yet the officials will say the pays are the same while a teacher in the urban area teach in multiple schools and earn quadruple the salary of the rural teacher.. We need decentralised development like the mechanic mentioned..

I Love this topic actually the African government are doing nothing in the ruler area Infarkt they even forget them the only time the government remember rulers area is when it’s time for voting that’s the time they reminds themselves cuz they need their votes. In The Gambia the same thing we fighting for! It’s all over the Africa!

Good job interviewer. This problem of rural-urban migration is a common problem in all Arican countries most especially in Cameroon. I for one had a bad experience where I was posted to teach. No roads, electricity & water (Big Nganjo)·❤ from Cameroon.

The development in South is not necessarily from the government most people in the cities built their own houses and pay to find water for their house hold( ie bolt hole) For instance my mum and dad built their own house in Kumasi and i don't think government do much for the people of Kumasi

Awesome discussion. Hopefully the government can modernize to keep up with the demand. Thought more about it. If the government gave incentives to slow the mirgration it would be a win win. Don't stunt the growth of your young, educated, gifted populations. The rural area can be stabalized and the urban overcrowding can br curtailed. Please look at the migration patterns of blacks after the civil war in America during the Jim Crow era and other countries around the world. Get ahead of the problem. You can't risk loosing an entire generation of people, especially young people.

at the risk of getting some backlash, I have to say: all those entities, government, political leaders, those do not work. in the countries where democracy "works" (well, tries to work) their history goes back centuries: heads were chopped off, revolutions took place. world wars! and African societal structures were completely wiped off to give place to their system. we are too young in terms of nations to have such a system work like it does in the western world. we need strong leaders like the sort of Khaddafi (Sarkozy knew it and we all know how that turned out!). those governments are structured to benefit those who put the leaders in place. and those who were against it....well.. what happened to Thomas Sankara? Sekou Touré? Ruben Um Nyobe ? google it.
