That's exactly why I think 4 is the best. 5 and 6 put way less emphasis on stage design, which is bizarre because that's what separates DOA from other fighters.
The fact they are Playable again on Modern Consoles is a Blessing. I am right with ya, DOA4 is without a doubt my Favorite and the best in the series. It's just perfect. It also has my Personal Favorite version of ZACK.
DoA 3 is still my favorite but 4 is a close second, and DoA 2 Ultimate would right after that. Itagaki's work on the series, especially on the original Xbox and the 360 still holds up extremely well today. It's crazy that DoA 4 launched in 2005 and still was more vibrant and much more fun to play than DoA 5 which was very late into the 360's life in 2012. DoA 6 I didn't really care for it all, not a bad game but nothing compared to the older ones.
I loved the way the hair moved in the 4th game. Kokoro’s debut and hair was everything 😂❤ so was kasumi’s ponytail. Tecmo will always be in my heart 💜 lol
I still feel this has the best lobby system in all fighting games to this day. It’s so easy for a casual audience to stay invested in the game when there’s so much to do win or lose.

I was playing DOA4 so much back in the days. The best fighting game I have played. Miss it som times. Like now when I start to RU-vid it. 😆 need to buy it again.
Imo DOA4 was the best in the series... it had great balance with the triangle system and brilliant stage and character design. I think when they started changing things it made the later games worse rather than better.
Completely agree. The costumes in 5 and 6 are meh and the stories in 5 and 6 are just not written or executed well. What I’m hoping for for DOA7 is DOA 4 like story content and progression CGI endings DOA 4 online lobbies Team battle Tag team battles ALLLLL characters that are unlockable instead of paying (gen fu, alpha 152, phase 4, Leon, ein, tengu) No more S or break blows But I bet we won’t be given any of this let alone doa7
Love these games . 4 i had so many great games but ended up losing all but I'll make more fights. Yeah I'm going to buy that manuel, It got me into playing as Brad Wong after being Zack nd Ein main.
Best game in the entire series🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 the endings for each character were beautiful. Wish we get rereleased version of the game from like the PlayStation store, because it would be cool if they really did.
first fighter i bought - 360 DAYS. Impressed online works on the series x! DOA 3 first ever og xbox title i can recall playing. When BC i picked 'em up. DEAD OR ALIVE XTREME BEACH VOLLEYBALL: TROPICAL BLUE my fanfic you can read online, various websites. Pretty Tecmo enthused those days.
My faorite DOA game, EVER. From stages, the frenetic gameplay, the story, to the onine lobby, the everlasting fun and even the frustrating side of it (a.k.a. dealing with Alpha-152)... DOA4 has it all.
I literally bought an Xbox 360 for this game alone. Also mad at myself because Xbox one and Xbox series are backwards compatible right after I bought the Xbox 360.
I couldn’t be happier to own an xbox because you can play all games none stop and i bought an xbox 360 console few months ago just for the game! And now we can play them and buy them digitally! And honestly i prefer digital over discs I could be from the minority. And i see that brought back that hurting sound to the intro again… If you really want to keep it at least keep its volume down because it really hurts the ear
I prefer to play games digitally because of the convenience but still want own a physical copy. So I usually buy the games I really like twice... lol. Is that wrong?
@@FrameCounting no it is not, and as Long as you can do it, do not feel bad about it. Funny enough, if that is funny to start with, I do the same as well, with my fav games. I own a copy that is physical, and a copy on xbox and ps4 and then on steam as well. Just to support the game. I won the collector edition for dead or alive 6. and I won the deluxe edition on PC and xbox as well, plus PS4 - because I like to have the game as digital. And I do have the Disc. So you are not alone friend, if anything that helps the studio and help us get more games of the games we love and that is how franchises are born speaking of which, I really hope we see dead or alive 7 but I kinda lost hope but oh well.
Personally I’m not too good at games. And this game is by far one of the most punishing things ever. I’m not even on the hardest mode but each time I press a SINGLE button I get countered and lose half my hp immediately after, causing me to lose the round. I just wanna unlock all the characters but it’s so damn punishing and difficult for me.
I'm trying to figure out how to just beat the computer because i want to play as the dumb halo character and i keep getting comboed and counter thrown to death a hundred times in a row by the computer and don't understand anything about this game and it hurts
I really wish Koei would launch the 4 fisrt DOAs on a collection for PS4/5 and PC, I mean 5 is my favorite on the franchise but the others still remain great to this day
so....anyone have any tips for being... good at this game? I play fighters casually, but i usually perform better than I do in DOA4 haha, even across the rest of the series.
I'll always appreciate xbox having amazing backwards compatibility. Their controllers are extremely out of date, but the backwards compatibility is amazing. RIP that division
DoA was not the same after Itagaki left... i still liked DoA 5 but it never reached the peak DoA 4 set... and 6 is just ugh... i dont think we ever gonna see a DoA game again. thx Team Soulslike

It kill me the game is so hard and the lol al is cheap. No ai is ai it just the game reading the buttons and reacting to it. The computer know the buttons pressed before it does it on screen.
The biggest issue i have with Dead or Alive 4: It is a Xbox 360 game, not an Original Xbox game. All backwards compatible OG Xbox games are getting rendered and played at the highest available resolution on your Xbox One or Series, which is even 4k on a One x and Series x. Whereas Xbox 360 games are getting played in their original resolution. And that shows in case of DOA4! It's a total jaggie-fest on my big 4k Oled TV. And as soon as I saw how *FAR* more gorgeous DOA3 and especially Ultimate 2 look, I couldnt go back to 4 anymore, as sorry as I am.
Buy it cheap it's hard as hell I had it since day 1 lost my save since the guy that made it decided oh let's put you can't copy you save I've never played it too much after that. Oh the moron that made it got fired from tecmo then made a garbage game for Nintendo that noa did not want to release and has never made another game since. Oh did this guy tell you there is only normal and hard difficulty no easy. Have fun with alpha 152 your going to need it and probably a new controller too after the rage makes you snap it in half. You could get the disc for 5 bucks all the time it that bad of difficulty. I just played and my character clipped through alpha 152 it's that bad the game cheats like hell.
What Crack are you smoking the game sucks it's too dang hard. Please show me that it's not the most annoying end boss except for maybe gill in street fighter 3.
