The same question that I ask the fan base, cus this game is a masterpiece and my first Luigi mansion game and one of the best 3ds games ever. Almost every 1st party 3ds game gets so much hate from their respective fanbases. When some are actually really good like dark moon, smash 4, oras, 3d land, Mario kart 7. One guy literally made a crappy article on google about forcing us to admit the 3ds and its library are both garbage!!! It was titled “Can We all Admit the 3ds was Disappointing” I will NEVER admit the 3ds and its library are garbage/disappointing!!!! And y’all shouldn’t too.
@@user-gs1dh8nk6wkinda a slight downsizing compared to the other games especially when you can’t walk around freely like the other games still a game I like even then tho it’s best to discuss the downs like this dude in the vid does.
@@user-gs1dh8nk6w He means that unlike 1 and 3 you're locked to a section of the level and can't really explore the rest of it unless the mission permits it.
I'm so glad someone else shares the opinion that LM2 is an underrated gem - I loved it so much I created an iceberg for it, and its refreshing to hear an opinion that isn't crapping all over it. I love all 3 games, but it increasingly feels like there are less and less people who like the second game for some reason.
I played dark moon when it came out, its just not a good game. There's a very clear reason as to why its a common opinion, GameCube luigis mansion was a lightning in the bottle type game that was very unique, dark moon legit not only failed as a sequel but to a lesser extent a videogame. A very bland mission based game with zero atmosphere or originality from the original, its honestly barely even comparable.
THIS IS MY CHILDHOOD EVEN THOUGH I COULDNT BEAT THE FIRST BOSS The best part of the game is Luigi's emotions, expressions, and movement. I love how his personality shines through in each cutscene. He's so goofy in this game.
1st boss and 4th boss gave me the most trouble. the spider boss used a lot of puzzles which me, an 11 year old kid, couldn't complete on my own, and the 4th boss has a huge learning curve to it considering it used a mechanic that has never been used in the luigi's mansion series.
Same. When I was a kid I couldn't figure out the puzzle. And for the 3rd boss I didn't understand the clock puzzle so it took me a year to beat it. The 4th boss is also hard because it's a completely new mechanic
This was one of your funniest written videos I've seen! I personally didn't enjoy Dark Moon when I first played it, but chances are I'll give it another shot when the Switch version drops.
Thank you! Hope you’re able to enjoy the game when it comes to Switch. I have a feeling it being on something closer to a home console will have an effect on how it feels to play.
@@CafeCharlieI personally enjoy luigi's mansion dark moon and I'm glad they are sticking with 2 HD instead of dark moon HD because newer generations of children will think dark moon comes after 3
Man, I remember watching my older brother play this when I was a kid, I loved it. It came with a manual that had entries for every ghost, I would read it over and over again and stare at the pictures. The stylization of the ghosts in this game is just so charming to me
Gotta say that the humor in this video was on point. You're really funny. I honestly really enjoyed Dark Moon, I wouldn't say it's my favorite Luigi's Mansion game, but a close 2nd to LM3. I'll definitely be getting the Switch port though because my original cartridge of the game doesn't work.
I used to play the multiplayer mode all the fricken time.. I forgot how much I loved this game so many memories. it feels so Long ago... turning 21 at the end of this month and I gotta say being reminded about this game really shows me how little I appreciated my Time as a kid.
I had dark moon, Mario cart 7, smash and this one weird halo rip off indie game.. those where the games I spent the most Time online with, I loved the multiplayer of all of them. My all time fav is for sure dark moon. thanks for reminding me about all this my man.
i fell in loved with this game that got me stated on the series i was 3 bosses away from betting the game then the game and we lost it i am so happy i can finish it now on the switch because i loved this series so much.
I wholeheartedly agree. I've always preferred the level structure of Dark Moon to the open style of 1 and the floor-by-floor pace of 3. The remake coming at the end of the month can't arrive sooner!
Bro this game was a grind for me I would play for hours the one mission I was stuck on was gloomy manor on the boo mission. I didn't know how the dark light thing work at first. Then my dad showed me. Then I helped my cousin. Ah good memories.
There's one point I don't really see many people mentioning. How many moments like this can you recall: Ghost steals a thing that unlocks the way forward, E. Gadd immediately calls you afterward to tell you the very thing you just saw, then you gotta go back to reclaim your progress before you can get any real work done. This is like...75% of the game, it's not even that I hate the mission based format. It's that most missions consist of filler, frustrating fetch quests, and some other f-word that'll get my comment deleted. Plus E. Gadd is a massive pace killer and holds your hand until your arm atrophies.
Thats what everyone here chooses to forget is that its not the fact its mission based thats inherently bad its that the game plays out like a shovelware ps2 game half the time lmao.
The missions were legit that tho, get item and ghosts, plug item in, spin 3DS, win,and repeat back to menu. Its literally like the simple tie in movie games without the jank@@edwardsaldana2534
I was 12 when this game came out but i had already played LM1 countless times so I was disappointed how this game didn’t capture the same vibe as the first game along with its mission structure and soundtrack.
this is still my favorite of the 3 games, and i have played them all (3 only to hte gardener area, i got bored of it. 1 to completion) i think the biggest part making me like this more than the others is that all the parts feel impactful for example, money, like you pointed out. what's it worth collection money in LM 1, it'S just an ending. or LM3, just a shop but also the way the poltergust works, i really love the power suck as opposed to the smack, etc.
I injoyd Dark Moon it's my favorite Luigi's Mansion game but I still love it but my favorite part about the game is that you can explore more than 1 Mansion how cool is that.
Simple, it wasn't 1; it wasn't spooky like 1, it wasn't "open" like 1, it didn't look like 1, it wasn't dark like 1, it didn't sound like 1 and therefore it's automatically bad because of it. Same "issues" are brought to the third game and they're just as dumb there as they are here
Problem: it isn’t lm1 Solution: it isn’t lm1 Why does it have to be the same as 1? Why is it illegal for a sequel to differ artistically and mechanically from the first game. Just because it is different doesn’t mean it can’t have its own charms. Ps. I can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic or not
@@jcsmith4324 it’s a perfectly valid reason not to like it. I’m just saying it’s ridiculous to call it an objectively bad game just because it’s different than lm1. That doesn’t mean it’s not valid to dislike it for that reason.
The only reason why people were excited for 2 was because of what the first game did. It would be like if you made the best pizza ever and I compliment how good it is so you promise to make it again next week but make it completely differently and doesn’t taste nearly as good.
My dad bought me this for my 3rd birthday and even if I never progressed through half of the game I will always remember and i 100% will be picking this one up on day 1.
The reason is because luigi's mansion one was always nostalgic for people, and 3 is better, but now people who had remembered dark moon from their childhood are starting to turn the tables
This is also my fav in the series. I see why people dont like it, but its still my fav. The combat is satisfying (at least as much as the first game's, if not more), and the beautifully orchestrated music adds to the brilliant atmospheres of the mansions, which, despite their cartooniness, feel very realistic and spooky, at least compared to the 3rd game's. Main gripe I have is the ghosts and lack of portrait ghosts, other than that, I think the game is great.
Im not going to lie, when i first played this game, i was actually terrified, i mean.....The spiders just pop out of nowhere......i dont care what other people say, in my opinion this is the best one, first i used to be obsessed with the music, library piano, gloomy manor, treaturous mansion, heck i even made fanart and fan stories, even an idea for a sequel, my favorite ghost is the poltergeist, which i dont care what they are called, to me their brainiacs........so to hear this game is getting a remake, I cryed with joy. I love this game, and no one can change my mind.
From a gameplay perspective my Biggest issues with the game is how you have no access to a second analog stick even with the circle pad pro. Outside of that Egad just interrupts you through out your journey WAY TOO MUCH making it unenjoyable for replay sessions. I'm really hopeing with the Switch release the second analog stick enhances the gameplay and they give options to either skip and ignore Egad. 🙂
Just played 2 and a half hours playing hunter endless with one other random dude scarescraper. Got to 43 floors before getting a bug that stopped me from progressing
I might be biased here, but I feel like Dark Moon gets too much flack. I’ve loved it since I was 8 and still love it to this day. I have yet to play the other two, but Dark Moon will always be my favorite since it’s very nostalgic to me. Hope more people at least give it a chance once the Switch port drops
From my research I have concluded that people hate Dark Moon for: -Mission System (Even though it's fine since you can replay any levels and not have to replay the game for it) -just having ok atmosphere and not Excellent atmosphere (That it literally it and that is not ok)
This game was the first Luigi’s mansion I played, and I did not know anybody hated this game at all. It’s definitely my favorite Luigi’s mansion that I’ve played, and I’ve only played 2. (Dark moon and 3).
0:16 definitely not you alone. This game is way better than the other Luigis mansion games. yes, most of it is because nostalgia but not only that this game is just amazing.
I love luigis mansion dark moon. Sure it doesnt pay in one manor but the 5 different aesthetic Mix it up Well... LM3 is chopped into too small Segments tho imo... dark moon also has the best ghost Designs imo. The ones im the first game Look just kinda... Weirdly shaped and the ones in 3 Look too... Geometric and clean.
I played Dark Moon on 3DS and I think it's a good game. Not the best and doesn't have the same atmosphere as the first one but I like the idea of exploring outside and inside of the mansion and it is definitely an improvement. Glad it is coming to the Switch as a remaster.
As a fan of the original as a kid, I love dark moon as an adult bc of the mission system, lets me stay on track and with progress with a busy adult life
I just thought "Wouldn't it be great, if you could use the multiplayer over cross-platform with both the switch and a 3Ds coppy of the game? so that people with the old game and an old 3Ds could play it together?"
BRO I DONT WANNA HEAR ANY HATERS OF LUIGI MANSION 2 THE DARK MOON it was my first luigi game ever it was my childhood. I want my 3ds back to play luigi's mansion the dark moon until I realized it comes out this year im so excited! It was my favorite ever since I was little and yet I still love it. I can't wait for the upcoming of luigis mansion 2 HD I can't wait and luigis mansion dark moon was my first favorite game in the 3ds
I loved the first game. While I wouldn't say I disliked Dark Moon, I was mildly disappointed by the lighter tone, weaker atmosphere, and constant intertuptions, and felt very mixed on the mission structure. Not a bad game, but a game I wished was just a little bit better. Having played 3 over the last two weeks, I have a whole new respect for Dark Moon because I REALLY didn't like 3. Dark Moon wasn't perfect, but it was a solid 7.5/10 IMO. I don't understand how anyone could say they dislike Dark Moon but that they love 3, but to each their own. Glad to see someone else appreciating Dark Moon!
All I’m going to say is I was born near the time it came out so I didn’t have any other options(that is portable) to use and well I loved it and recently me and my dad before it came on the switch we would use the 3DS and we would call two greenies “The turkey bois of ninety seven” because they both had turkeys
Currently playing through the HD version, since I never owned a 3DS, and I’ve enjoyed it so far. Having only played 3 before this, it’s a solid game. Not a huge fan of the mission ranking system though, it feels unnecessary- why would I want to be rushed through the levels when there’s incredibly unique environments I want to explore? Also not a fan of how repetitive the Possessor’s designs are, but it was originally made for a handheld, so it’s understandable. All in all, it’s a great game and my second favourite in the series (which isn’t saying much when the only other games I’ve played are 3 and the arcade version)
THIS IS THE BEST OF THE BEST!!!IT'S MY FAVORITE GAME OF ALL TIME!!!IT HAS THE BEST MUSIC IN THE SIRIES,AMAZING GRAFICS ON THE 3DS FOR IT'S TIME AND PROBABLY EVEN NOW!!!!!!IT DEFINETLY DESERVES THAT REMAKE......AND.......I..........AM......................SO EXCITED FOR IT'S RELEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!
A lot of people just say "no atmosphere" and "mission bad" without actually giving it a chance. I actually like the missions, as it lets you replay bosses instead of having to spend 13 hours replaying the game to refight a boss (looking at you, 3).
Level based instead of open world mansion like in the first game was my biggest disappointment. Doesn’t matter whether those leaves had more to offer. The sheer exploring of a whole mansion was beyond incredible in the first gsme. I also vaguely remember the lack of checkpoints in dark moon and how when you lost, you had to start over practically from the beginning!
In the original game we could play through the whole mansion. It was a Metroidvania game when you really think about it. In Luigi’s Mansion 2 we do some missions/explore parts of the mansion and then we go to egad and then we go on to the next stage. If it was the first game it wouldn’t be as hated. The first game set a big standard. Sometimes less is more.
The original is my overall favorite, but Dark Moon feels the best to control, and I like its combat the most. It’s Scarescrapet had download play, which made multiplayer much easier to be able to play as well.
- Minor Spoiler Alert - I've been a fan of the series for quite some time, and I've only played Dark Moon, 3, and 2HD. However I think that the mission structure is strange compared to the other games, and I would even confidentially say that 3 is a better game. In my opinion, it's like BOTW vs TOTK, Tears of the Kingdom is an objectively better game, but I love Breath of the Wild more because of memories. Despite this, I believe that the mission system actually adds one important thing to the game that people seem to overlook. In Dark Moon, you actually feel like you're working for E. Gadd. Luigi doesn't even realize that his brother is missing until the final mansion; the one I'd say is most alike to the original from a design perspective. E. Gadd tells you to do something, you do it, report back, and the cycle continues until before said final mansion where Luigi ambushes the ghost's own trap. Once Luigi finds out that Mario is in danger, the game's tone shifts dramatically, even if the player found out in the photo from Haunted Towers.
