Take it from someone who's owned a ITR & S2K. I purchased a 2017 SI Couple New and drove it hard stock on mountain roads from 2017 until 2021. I traded it in for a New CTR. The SI couple was a blast to drive. The value was crazy! I even got mine a thousand under Msrp. No other car in the market during that time could touch the features and benefits for that price point. I paid 23k for mine and got 19K when I traded it back. Had zero issues with the SI. It's a amazing car.

In my opinion, Honda doesn’t mess up with their cars. Sure they created something different, and it might not be better than k20/24, but the L15b7 is still great motor.

I disagree. The L15 is trash. Honda refused to fix my Si under warranty when it had a burnt exhaust valve, because they said I had changed the intake lol. I made it run and traded that Pile in. Ill stick with the Old School Honda motors 🔥🔥

@@tyhyhh That wasn’t the point. The L15 is plain trash either way. Especially if it can’t hold up to a CAI and 40k miles. There’s a very reputable engine rebuilder down in Florida, who is also on RU-vid. He breaks down the entire L15. Its trash. Every motor Honda is building aside from the CTR is trash. They are geared towards economic goals. And you guy’s are out here throwing dollars like you’re at a strip club just to make numbers and say I did it. In my opinion the 10th and 11thgen 1.5Ts are absolutley amazing for being the size of a lawnmower engine. While still getting around 40mpg on road trips. I'm actually shocked everyday on how this tiny motor pulls my Integra around. Which is a little heavier and bigger than the 10th and 11thgen Si

It really depends on your goals for the car. I almost purchased an SI in 2019. But I would've needed to rebuild the engine and trans to upgrade it to over 400whp. So I bought an FK8 Type R instead. I'm currently at 460whp with just FBO, PRL P600, and Hondata Fuel System. The car has a stock block, stock head, and stock trans. So the cost ratio for making power was a little better in the Type R for me.

Idk how you could enjoy the 10th gen more then the 8th or 9th gen. I understand it's personal preference but the 8th or 9th gen cars have so much personality. I bought a 10th gen and after 6 months I sold it because I wasn't having fun. The car was very numb and lacked a soul. The thing with the 8th and 9th gen Sis you could have fun with low power mainly becuase of Vtec. Revving it out to redline with an awesome sound. I even did several mods attempting to make it better but it still didn't feel like the Civic Si I grew to love over the years. It felt more like a normal daily driving Civic. It was a great commuter car but that wasn't what I was looking for. For the same price I paid for the SI I could of got a VA STI, Golf R or an American car like a Mustang/Camaro. I already have a VA STI so I traded the SI in for a low milage 2021 Mustang GT. 20k miles for $30k out the door. Added 2 mods to the Mustang and I dynoed at at 496WHP. Long tube headers and a tune on E85. I understand it's all personal preference and to each their own.

I got my 2020 Si in 2020 and I currently have 108k miles in it. Still rocking the stock clutch and I haven’t had any issues with the car outside of wheel bearings going out at 50k and got that fixed under warranty. Only mods in the car are Fortune Auto 510 coilovers. HKS error canceling kit and an Acuity throttle spacer. The car is great for a family hauler with spirited driving. It’s nothing like my Honda VFR800 or my prelude from back in the day. Older Hondas are just better in my mind. I feel like Honda dropped the ball with the Si to focus 100% on the type R and the aftermarket def proves it.

Hey Tony, I recently got rid of my 10thgen Si coupe for an Integra. In my opinion, it's the best Si made to date. It pulled a .97G turn bone stock and hit 6.3 and 14.8 in the 60/1/4. Had the adaptive suspension. They ended up selling my 2019 for 26k! I miss that car and would get another. The one thing I will say, I like the new 1.5T w vtec a little more. It gives you a little bit of the old school NA feeling and pulls up top. The new 1.5T in a 10thgen coupe would be interesting 👍🏻 The Integra is a bit heavier

No joke, the hate on this specific car ain't a joke. When the X-Gen first came out i didn't like the body styling, neither had i liked the motor they went with ⏩ 6 years later, I just sold my 2010 Acura TSX for my 2020 X-Gen. I got my Si a month ago with 18k miles & I'm regretting my speeches & hate i gave this car. If you're a big power chaser dont get the Si, but the torque in this 1.5 DAILY is enough to always keep you smiling not to mention you be at 250+ hp& trq with a few bolt ons & you unlock more. There's never a dull moment in this car unless you're chasing high power demands.

What up Tony! So here’s my take on it. When the si 10gen came out, many of the people in the car community that got the car were kind of douche bag personality. Even when I got mine I was like man people are gonna think I’m a douche bag. Plus people didn’t like the body styling, myself included back then, I wasn’t a fan. Reliability of the car is based on the owner use and abuse. For the first year that I owned my si it was not modded. The entire time I never had an issue. Once I started modding and beating like a whore that owes me money the reliability went out the window like a napkin at 120mph windows down.

Making 250WHP and blowing up twice in less than 5K miles is crazy to me and it really done me in that the 10th gen Si platform isn’t a great platform. The s2000 gets praised only has 240hp but the 10th gen si has 205 way more torque and is turbo they both weigh the same and the 35 hp difference is no a big deal when you make more torque and engineered the way the 10thgen is is a phenomenal car. I don't get why the s2000s is loved it's very overrated the 10th gen is basically a newer better s2000 despite the power train layout I think it's the 9000rpm and pt layout is why the s2000 is held on a pedestal. It's not like the si can't be modified to make more power if you want it. You can easily achieve 300 out the tenth gen anything over is just overkill these cars aren't made to be straight line monsters but canyon monsters. Fk8 type r's are overhyped too there's no reason you need 500hp in it, it's a canyon car....you don't need 400+ in these to have fun...

I felt that over time the gap between the Si and the Type R was widening. The 8th gen Si was so good that with a couple of bolt ons and a tune you can match or exceed the FD2 Type R stock. With the 10th and 11th gen you can't do that. I might get hate for this but I think with the introduction of the 10th gen Type R, Honda really neutered their Si line to differentiate the trims. I am an owner of an FA5 and I love the K-Series. I did drive a 10th gen and it felt really nice but there was no drama I was expecting near the redline. My next car is probably going to be a WRX once they have their Eyesight integration confirmed or just save for a Type R or GR Corolla.

I went from a 97 ex I had (still have, still stock) since 2001 to a slightly used 2018 si in 2018. The difference was huge! lol I loved it. I loved actually having some go and handling. But it just felt lacking and definitely could feel the stock tune holding back which was annoying. Ktuned it with TSP stage 1 which was great. Had zero issues with the car except for the AC, which lead me to bringing it into the dealer. They fixed the AC under the extended warranty and I left with a 2023 boost blue FL5. Oops. Paid something like 24-25k for the car originally (si). Traded it in for 21.5k with 37k miles on it. Dealer sold it for 28k.. I kind of miss it. I was planning on adding flex fuel and a ctr retrofit clutch and maybe turbo. I have never driven a 'high reving' honda so I don't really have anything to compare it to but I'll take having torque over high reving coming from someone who's driven a 100hp shit box for waaay too long. lol

I had nothing but issues with my SI. Clutch failed a couple thousand miles after getting it, fuel dilution issues, and a head gasket failure. That was all within a 3 month period and the dealer wouldn’t do anything for me. I sold it shortly after and got a 2.0t accord. It’s much better not handling wise but performance wise. Not hating on the SI but the L15 is the worst engine Honda has ever made. I feel they should’ve stuck with an N/A k series with vtec.

Civics have a bad reputation in general. There is one major problem i see with the 10th gen's which is that they have a terrible interface. But the hate really is unwarranted. Overall, the 10th gen's are good vehicles and they are the best car i've seen style wise in the past decade. In fact i haven't seen a car with this kind of style since 2010. They also are good for long term reliability and durability.

Plus that L15 motor isn’t that tunable because the internals are weak the bore and stoke isn’t good and rod bolts are tiny compared to a K series or D series.

I have owned every gen of Si xpt the em1.. even the older ef, crx si, 94 si etc... I bought the 10th gen when it came out, and even with a flashpro tune, it was still boring. Sure it made quite a bit more power (torque mainly) it just wasnt that fun to drive. It wasnt visceral like the older models at all. IMO the best Si gen was the 8th gen, and thats prob my fav honda ive ever owned. I also owned a FK8 briefly for about 8 months, but sold it to go back to school. I currently have a 9th gen si, and to me, as ive gotten older, its the best all around SI, still has the old school honda vibe, a k24, great interior and great color choices. You can just look at the prices of the 9th gen si compared to the 10th gen and youll see that they are about the same price. that tells you something in and of itself. the L15 sucks, its a boring motor plain and simple. Id rather have an NA with Vtec that is fun to ring its neck, than 40mpg and way too much torque for a fwd car...

They dont have Vtec on both cams. They only have it on one cam. They dont have true vtec. Thats one thing I dont like about them but other then that I would say the motors are still good motors. Just in my personal opinion they dont perform as well as a boosted dual vtec with Traditional vtec such as a turboed k24a2 or a turboed b18c. I owned a 9th gen accord with bolt ons and was fun to rip around and cracked vtec hard it was the K24W earth dreams motor and I had plans to throw a type r or si turbo on it but sadly it was totaled. Oh how I’ve been waiting for this video lol. Let’s just start with the fact that the Si was built with the economy in mind. So many people want to fight the feeling like Too Short, but I won’t front. You put a little bit of power to its gut and it’s gonna leave you on the side of the road period. There are so many of those cars that got traded back in because of the issues, and guess what. They traded for ? A CTR. Honda advertised the Si like it was something that could stand up to its predecessor and or the CTR, and that wasn’t the case. The Si of today definitely demonstrated in so many ways like the Maury show (That was a lie!) The L15 although it had a few subtle hints of racing heritage, including LSD and beer can internals was still trash. Forget the head lifting on power. Id be more concerned of the rod that looks like a skinny crack phene snapping. The car car itself minus the engine was amazing. But the entire car just screams I beg to be driven by a 50-60 yr old trying to relive their glory days, and a person who will never add an aftermarket part to me. Unfortunately the Si seems to have been a guinea pig of sorts for Hondas new future line up as they sort out how to go from fossil fuels, to electric. They never intended for the Si to ever match the quality of the CTR and that has been proven since its launch. The fact that everyone thinks that Honda still had it’s customers opinions and views in mind, was obviously dropped on their head. Honda has lost their way, and forgotten about their roots. And guess what! The more people keep praising the piles of crap they are building, the more they will continue to build until the legacy is gone forever.

Hello Tony. New to your channel. I wanted to get your opinion on a few things. Within the next two to three years I'm looking to get a Si or Integra A Spec manual. I want to add a few things but I don't want to get too crazy. At most, I'd want it to be around 250-270HP with 300lbs/ft of torque. I plan on keeping the car for many many years to come. I'm a family man and most of my driving comes from dropping off and picking up my daughters from school, driving to get groceries, and going to and from work. If I were to get upgrades to the car how much gas mileage will I lose? Like say I got it to my target which is the 250-270HP with 300lbs/ft of torque. Will I be looking at the car going from 28mpg city to like 21mpg city and from 37 mpg highway to like 31 mpg? Thanks in advance.
