Be sure to hit subscribe! A stuck clarinet swab is annoying, but it can also be dangerous for your instrument. Why does it get stuck and what can you do to prevent it? #clarinetlessons #clarinet #band
That's a good question! I haven't heard of silk swabs damaging the bore. Silk is usually one of the preferred materials because it's gentle and absorbent. Grenadilla and cocobolo are pretty dense woods, so I can't imagine a swab could do damage. Microfiber is definitely taking over the market though. I think a lot of Buffet swabs are microfiber. Either one is probably a good option. We might have to do a video where we compare the two.
Oh no! If you can reach both ends of the swab (you may need to take the instrument apart), *gently* tug on each side back and forth to see if you can loosen it. Don't pull too hard or you'll risk serious damage. If you can't get it loose, take it to a repair tech. They deal with this all the time, and some will take care of it at no charge.
