It annoys me how many fans seem to believe that Salvatore had Toni kill CJ,I don't even understand how a rumor like that started to begin with

Salvatore shot himself in the foot the moment he trusted CJ, who he didn't know beforehand. Basically what made him and Pegorino a joke was ignoring the omerta and hiring random guns to carry out their dirty work which increases the attention from the law, and therefore increases paranoia which accelerated both of their downfalls.

*SALVATORE:* Hey, is this guy trust worthy? *JOEY:* Yeah, Pop, he used to work with me here in Liberty City. So you can trust him. *JOEY AFTER THE CASINO HEIST:* Uhh... well this was unexpected.

Could it be that Mike Toreno also had an impact in saving CJ from Salvatore ? As we know, Toreno needed CJ until the very end of the story. Since Toreno's Government Agency sees and hears everything, they could've put some pressure on Salvatore himself telling him not to mess around with CJ.

I always figured the reason Salvatore didn't do anything to CJ or his Family is because CJ goes back to Los Santos right after the heist and the mafia has no presence in Los Santos so it would take a lot of effort to go to Los Santos and find CJ. It's pretty ironic that a game series named Grand Theft Auto that's all about crime keeps bringing up how important friendship, loyalty, and honor are.

In Latin America there is a popular theory that claims that Toni killed CJ and that’s why he remained hidden until the events of liberty city stories. The reason is that in the description where it says that Toni killed a made man in the Spanish translation says instead that Toni killed a “famous gangster” so isn’t difficult to see why people in Spain and Latin America made that connection. So due to a translation error people in many regions think that Toni killed some gangster instead of a member of the Forelli or Syndaco family.

Also imagine if Salvatore had CJ killed, how would Sweet or GS react? They would very likely team up with not only the Triads, but likely every other person or gang like Caesar’s to hunt down the Leonies. The GS may not be that powerful, but they’re very well respected at the end off GTA SA.

Salvatore made a lot of enemies. He tried to kill Rosenberg seeing him as a loose end after he took out the Sindaccos and Forellis. The Leones being at war with every Liberty City crime groups, triads, yakuza, Italian and sicilian mafia, Salvatore still had the hypocrisy to call himself " Man of honor" in front of Toni.

We need more lore videos. You explain to many important things in the story of each game very well and that honestly makes you stand out from the rest.

I didn't actually think about how the relationship that CJ had with the triads prevented Salvatore from trying to attack him, but it makes perfect sense

I would love to see a Lore video on Woozie and his friendship with Carl. Woozie was easily my favorite mission character. I loved doing missions for him.

The whole history of the 3D era games was so freaking fine tuned, with so much detail and intricate connections between all games, what a joy!!

Whats really mind blowing is that both the forelli and leone family lost all of their resources over the years because two guys worked for them, except the sindacco family.

It also just has to be noted right, that CJ not only has the Triads backing him up, he also has Grove Street Families and the Varrios Los Aztecas, they may not be Triads but those two gangs basically own Los Santos. Not to mention, GSF and VLA- but especially GSF most likely is getting a huge funding from CJ for better overall resources. After all, CJ has minor businesses like Zero's RC Shop, Wang Cars and the Garage then climbing higher he is Madd Dogg's manager, and even higher he also has a stake in the Casino. So GSF is most likely very well funded post-san andreas for better equipment and what not overall. But that's just my 2 cents.

Rockstar likes the betrayal theme and paranoid bosses. Like Gary betraying Jimmy in Bully or Virgil turning on Cleon, leading to the actual formation of the Warriors and was why the Destroyers were the only gang the Warriors killed off. So of course we'd see this in the GTA games as well.

Salvatore going after CJ wouldve been a death sentence, not just because of the war he has going on or just the Triads, but CJ also has Cesar's gang the Aztecas, and the GSF, not to mention ties with a government agent who can tap in and listen to anybody, and CJ has taken out an entire military base (technically twice with stealing the jetpack), is capable of completing any job hes given even if hes heavily outnumbered, can fly a military jet, can wipe out Ballas and Vagos gang territories by himself, even if Salvatore tries to catch him off guard, if CJ still has ties with Toreno who knows everything could probably warn him, and CJ being who he is could wipe whoever Salvatore sends out no problem, so yeah safe to say Salvatore quickly realises all this and does the smart thing and backs away, Leone's wouldve been completely wiped out if he went after CJ

Salvatore has to be one of the best video game characters of all time, to think he started off as a parody of Don Corleone and then ended up as this really calculating, narcissistic, paranoid boss who would often treat those who worked for him well and fairly but would just as easily undercut them to make it clear that he was the boss. San Andreas and Liberty City stories really helped to develop his personality further.

By the end of San Andreas, the West Coast Triads basically ruled Las Venturas and San Fierro! Hell, I can imagine that by 1993, not only CJ took over Los Santos for Grove Street, but also wiped out the Rifas from San Fierro and made the San Fierro Families in their place! He also probably gave the Vagos territories to Cesar and the Aztecas and its highly possible that the Triads wiped out the Da Bang Boys too! Basically, these five men - CJ, Sweet, Cesar, Woozie and Ran Fa Li - and their gangs evolved into a huge Crime Syndicate, ruling over San Andreas! Salvatore just can't touch them! And I didn't even mention CJ's connection with a man to a certain government agency!

Also to add up. If Salvatore had the guts to hunt CJ down, besides San Andreas Triads the Grove Street Families take over the Ballas and Vagos and might be able to protect CJ and Sweet from any Leone mobster.

Also CJ is probably second in command after sweet of the grove street gang after smoke & Ryder, & they also have ties to Caesar’s gang too. They would also have to worry about them coming after them too even though their mostly local gang.

Fun Fact did you guys knew that in Latin America a lot of people started to Hate on Toni because of the theory of him killing CJ even though it clearly false

CJ had too many allies at this point for anyone to try and touch him. He did a ton of good for the Triads, the Aztecas, the GSF and became the owner of businesses. Touch someone who helped that many people and of course you'll get the backlash.

So Salvatore didn’t try to kill CJ because 1) no resources 2) he was between a war 3) didn’t have time to deal with CJ yet

Salvatore also couldn’t get to CJ because the Grove Street families would not have allowed anyone they didn’t recognize on their block. And that’s if they weren’t told to expect Italians, which CJ probably warned them about.

Toni could never wack CJ. He’s basically like 50 cent of the GTA universe. One of the most well known, well connected and famous gangsters in the whole GTA universe

I think that Salvatore's simply forget about that due to an Old Age, his Paranoia just bested him and Three Way War between Leone, Sindaccos and Forelli (Corelli according to Salvatore himself). I also think that he just mistakenly took that hatred towards CJ to Claude in GTA III which is taken place in 2001

55:06 When Woozie mention "Our Ah Kung" means that Ran Fa Li and Woozie were coming from same Traids in Hong Kong (Hint: Kowloon) but in different banners. Kinda like Sun On Yee but when some of their mens and officers migrate to other country, they have different names like The number triad or Jade Dragon triad and suchs. But still work and receive order from their boss Sun On Yee Ah Kung means Grandpa or Elder in Chinese. also can be use as rank or titles too

Claude killed Salvatore because his paranoia and the reason his paranoid exist was because of CJ but CJ saves Ken, Paul and Maccer and robbing the casino with The Triads and he was narcissistic and scumbag.

There was an Uncut mod for GTA San Andreas where there was an Hitman Script much like the one in LCS where a Solo Mafia Hitman will attempt to ram you at first and then Engage, This only happens in Las Venturas, Obviously since Salvatore has very sparse Resources.

It's relatively simple - because Salvatore Leone doesn't have much clout out West. It's already implied that the Italian Mafia presence in Venturas was declining by the time CJ arrived, and the Triads winning the competition war reduced their meager influence. The Families and Aztecas are the most powerful gangs in Los Santos and have assets in San Fierro, and CJ is a multi-businessman and is probably about as powerful in San Andreas as your typical CEO/politician. Salvatore can't carry out an assassination that would be so public anyway. By 2001, when GTA 3 takes place, it's obvious Salvatore sold off his remaining assets in Venturas as the deal with the other families collapses, likely at a loss. The Leone Family could not project power on the West Coast, in part because of Salvatore's dumb decisions and paranoia, and the fall of Leones is hastened in 1998 before being finalized in 2001.

I was kinda expecting there to be a mission where CJ would fight off Salvatore’s attempts at revenge. Regardless, I love these lore videos.

Salvatore didn’t want to start a war with the Grove Street Families due to their influence in Los Santos, let alone go to war with the Triads in San Fierro and Las Venturas who are the Families’ allies. Also, the casino probably had insurance so it got some money back, plus not all of it was the Leone’s money. Much of the casino money belonged to the Forellis and the Sindaccos but Salvatore was just mad that CJ and company took it before he could enjoy it. Finally, considering the robbery got the attention of the authorities, Salvatore didn’t want to risk doing something stupid and commit a murder over this, risking it being traced back to him.

I really wish GTA hadn't completely abandoned the 3D universe, they could have pulled a Logan and said "oh yeah that stuff happened but it wasn't nearly as over the top and fantastical as people say" instead of having only new characters.

Fun fact professional another reason salvatore doesn't go after cj is because of gta advance. In that game for the gameboy the leones are at war with the yakuza and yardies because they are fightingfor the forellis turf now. Even though salvatore not in the game his mafia is and in the game the leones lose alot of men to the yakuza who kill alot of them. Even though the leones won they lost alot of men and territory to the yakuza, yardies and cartel. It happened 1 year before 3 so there is no time to recover hint why sal says we're not strong enough.

I like how cj destroyed this idiot he thought he was the king around but he understimat CJ But i like how the story actually recycled In red dead 2 there was a same mafia guy who actually fooled Dutch and set a trap so later he got killed by van der Lin gang so he thought he could buy everyone with money And same goes to san Andreas, which Salvatore thought he could do everything he wants he thought he was the smart but he didn't realized CJ was playing with him But this is a little different from red dead online which dutch got fooled by mafia its very strange when think about it

As always, another masterpiece by Pro. I learned a lot from this lore video. My favorite mission in GTA SA is the heist mission. It's so satisfying to rob the casino and hearing Salvatore's rant on the phone. For being a backstabber and a narcissist, he really deserved to be killed by Claude.

I'd been expecting the fine sunny conditions we usually got in Venturas, but storm clouds of all fucking things were rolling in, and the sky was so dark it felt like it was midnight, especially with half of Venturas still dark. As I dropped and tried to control my fall, the wind caught me and pull me to the left, away from my landing spot, and I watched in disbelief as I passed the side of the building and landing on top of the giant faux circus tent of Clowns Pocket. Suddenly the janitor let out a cry of delight, he'd just opened the case I had told him was his bonus and he'd discovered the two million inside. He started to dance about in excitement, and finally it all hit home to me that I'd done it, I'd pulled off the fucking heist to end all heists. "Come on, man," I said to Zero, reaching out to him,"We've got money to count and divide up." "We're.... we're good?" asked Zero warily, taking my arm. I hauled him up and slapped a hand onto his shoulder. "Nah man, not yet," I told him, truthfully, then couldn't help but grin even wider,"But all this money is going to go a looooong way towards it!" And that was how we broke the bank at Caligula's.

It's funny that the Forellis are willing to work with Rosenberg after he sided with Tommy in Vice City. Though I suppose all three families were planning to get rid of him at the first opportunity, so what do they care who the fall guy is.

I love how in gta 3 they showed the triads as a joke and as a stereotype but lster on the series they showed in gta san andreas that they're really not that bad and not be messed with! I love Salvatore as a character but you’re right about that he was a narcissistic, power hungry douchebag piece of shit. This video explains his lore and I think you can call it Why Salvatore Betrayed Claude Part Two. In the end, you’re right with the notion that CJ killed Salvatore in the end because Salvatore was haunted by Carl’s betrayal throughout the rest of his life. I definitely agree that CJ’s connections saved him. The Triads are a worldwide organisation. Carl was an associate of theirs. He wasn’t a Mountain Cloud Boy, but he was loyal and a valuable asset. Woozie himself greatly respected him for his friendship. Carl deeply respected Woozie because he was loyal and he supported him in his quest for revenge. Carl too has done Woozie favours, but Woozie had nothing to gain from Carl’s actions because the Triads despise drug dealers. Also I think Salvatore trusted Carl because Joey vouched for him and Salvatore, while a greedy and ruthless mob boss, loved his son deeply. In the end the one person who should have betrayed Salvatore is honestly Toni. Because Toni was fiercely loyal to Salvatore and Salvatore doubted him and cheated him of his one million dollars reward. Toni killed dozens of gangsters to ensure the Leones’ survival. However, sadly though, Toni has a part in Salvatore’s death. He dealt damage to the Yakuza and worked with Toshiko, but by killing Kazuki, he unintentionally made sure the Yakuza would remain enemies of the Leones.

Im grinding the camos for mw2 and having these types of videos playing in the background really help keep my sanity...

That caporegime who was with Sonny, did he actually get killed as well? because we don’t see him in the shootout but we do see him in the cutscene when they arrive to the mansion.
