@@silversnakeproductions3241 what are the sequels? We only have the original trilogy, the prequels, the mandalorian, rogue one and solo, clone wars,, rebels,, eu, and the new shows coming out. Legends are the only thing in the star wars universe not canon. What are these sequels you SPEAK OF. THIS IS A JOKE I AM JOKING IF I FORGET ANYTHING YOU LIKE IT IS A JOKE I AM NOT TRYING TO DO ANYTHING BUT TRASH ON THE SEQUELS.
Moth Gideon is operating in the middle of nowhere and no government that is weak wants to spend money and resources to go nowhere. U have to think to that the New Republic military is more then 10 times the size of whats left of the Empires military but there spread out in an entire galaxy fighting bigger threats then Moth Gideon.
Moff Gideon is also a smart guy, he knows that if he would fly around there in star destroyer, killing people, and doing too much noise he would be decimated by the New Republic so he logically choses the image of just another small, insignificant imperial warlord and that plays a lot to his cards, even if we as an audience know that he is more than that much more...
Yeah people seem to forget he had Death Troopers , Troop Transports whole Battalions of Stormtroopers in the first season... and in the Second there is even a Fleet mentioned... so Moff Gideon won't reveal himself when he is still Building up his Remnant Forces. And Personally i think he plays a much longer game tied to the rise of the First Order and not just "Build up a Remnant and Take Back the Galaxy", the whole Force Sensitive Clone arc suggests he is actually one of the most important Remnant Factions
He was a member of the imperial security bureau during the empire (think of the Soviet KGB and the gestapo to get an idea of the ISB). He also has the advantage of most people in the galaxy believing that he's dead.
@@r.s.7929 you may as well quit now it going to have to Dave filoni is planning some retcons plus we've already seen snoke clones none of the characters you hate will be there they are all either in diapers or tied up in the galactic core.
So the New Republic which began as the Rebel Alliance, a small band of resistance fighters in the Outer Rim who went on to topple an Empire don't consider Moff Gideon's small band of resistance fighters in the Outer Rim a problem? Talk about forgetting your own history, sheesh!!
Yeah it's just stupid that they demilitarized themselves after the war. They basically said "Well we defeated the Empire so there's no more bad guys whatsoever out there even though they're still scattered across the galaxy, no more need for a military" I'd even go as far as to say that if the pre-Clone Wars Republic had a military Palpatine wouldn't have had such an easy time manipulating everything without all of the clones which were programmed to obey. Someone would've smelled something fishy eventually
@@hairohukosu433 it was really peaceful though. There were still large groups of imperials and with the empire out of the outer rim and no Republic navy in the area it opened it up to raiders and pirates. Possibly to the point where the people need safety and security of some new empire
@@slowmoe1686 That's why Palpatine's take over was better, he kept everything intact at first and slowly phased things out. Realistically (and as pointed out by Alan) his was s peaceful take over. It's much harder with a violent overthrow, and then starting from scratch like the Rebellion did. It's "Legends" now but the Thrawn trilogy by Timothy Zhan, actually shows this whole process and problems with it.
@@Asdf-wf6en Then whoever has the most guns is gonna take over planets one at a time. There's a reason Anarcho-capitalism doesn't exist in the real world. It only lasts as long as it takes for a warlord to conquer it.
@@Lobsterwithinternet To be fair, I don't think he was advocating Anarcho-Capitalism (which I agree makes zero sense). I think he was advocating a decentralized power structure where theres a national government that has relatively little power except some kinds of law enforcement, with each planet being a self-governing 'state'. You know, like a federation that doesn't have much central government, sort of like the United States first few years under the Articles of Confederation, when the national government had literally no power over anything except the post office . I mean, self-government isn't the same as no government, which is what AnarchoCapitalism is supposed to be. I disagree with that as well, because of relative disadvantages between the planets probably resulting in large power imbalances in terms of economic power between them (Also, the US under the articles of confederation was a complete mess...) , but I believe that is closer to what Asdf was implying.
@Tomás Moreira That was the case in the Thrawn trilogy. He only brought his ships together for big missions when it was required. Otherwise, they each had their own duties to attend to. Even when going for big targets, he doesn't gather his ships together in one staging area, they all travel from their locations. Gurilla warfare tactics 101. You never gather everything in one place, it provides a single target the enemy could take out. You spread out and do hit-and-run attacks. It's how the Rebellion beat the Empire, and how Thrawn was on the cusp of beating the New Republic.
You know Chamberlain was only delaying the war because he knew Britain wasn't ready. He sacrificed his reputation and his legacy to save his country from a war they weren't ready for
The idea that a planet could be completely destroyed is impossible and just terrorist propaganda to try to sway the minds of our great empire, we at the Imperial Ruling Council are deeply sadden by this accident and this lost of life and Emperor Sheev Palpatine has given condolences to the families of those that were lost.
Yeah... funny how the old republic didn't care about the outer rim and the new republic don't care about the outer rim... ughh.. If i still had a few good regiments of battle droids and compliment of AATs i'd make those damned bucket heads wish they went up with the death star. ahhh... this old soldier needs another drink...
He said, “Welcome to Allen, and my name is Generation Tech.” A simple reversal. @Allen, thanks for using our history as comparison and analogy for galactic history.
Mon Mothma: "There is no longer an Empire so disarm the military." Me: "Imagine a videogame were we take control of an Imperial Remnant that decides not having anything with the First or Final Order?"
I mean, I believe the Republic always had less warships than the Empire anyway. Or at least less capital ships. Even if the remains of the empire split into different factions, that's still alot of warships flying around.
I wonder how Legends written their versions of the New Republic. Atleast it had a military defending itself from the Imperial remnants of the Outer Rim.
it's only a failure because of hack writer Abrams who didn't want to do world-building in his 7th film and blew it the fuck up, blame prequel haters too
5:09 ah yes the great Mining accident of Alderaan that was a real tragedy good that the great empire saved all remaining Alderaanians and brought them to camps were they could be safe
War is simple...the enemy is clear, the objectives (at a high level) are clear. Its base...refined and instinctual. Kill or be killed. However, what comes after is a different story.
I really like how you show relatable similarities between the real events of our world and the fictitious ones in Star Wars. Keep it up Generation Tech.
Easy to answer and without watching the video: At this point Post Endor the Republic has been overstretched, they are still fighting the last imperial hold outs not enough ships or resources to properly secure the outer rim.
theres alot of countries that take ages to rebuild after independence. doesnt help when outside influences try to stage coups too and install a new dictator to keep their status quo
Also I wonder if moff Gideon has discovered some crude version of force alchemy and is using it to forward the death trooper program or something like force transfusions?
@Devon Woodrup Though this is a good theory it would have to be confirmed that he is Force Sensitive to begin with and in addition force transfusions are pretty much impossible from a scientific standing but in the way of the force there has been artifacts that could steal force energy and be used to increase ones ability to tap into the force creating a force sensitive though this would be very nice realistically the death trooper's he has are most likely the remants or recruits from the empire
@@legacygaming2214 the only reason grievous was able to survive his cybenization was because he had jedi blood transfused into him. although getting injected with force user stuff doesn't increase your own force sensitivity it does keep you alive better.
The New Republic thinks that Moff Gideon’s dead. Cara Dune said that his official record states he was executed for war crimes. That could be one reason why they won’t go after him, they may think that it’s just some small holdout.
Sounds like something having an intelligence agency could solve. Have all encounters with Imperial remnants documented thoroughly, and reviewed by someone at HQ.
Wow... This is the first time I see one of your videos. I am a historian and I can say, the way you analyze and examine all the events, and ideas, even when it is a fictional world, is very good. It was a great explanation about the difficulties of rebuilding after war.
I'm pretty sure the New Republic isn't 100% aware of Moff Gideon. The New Republic is flying through, trying to patrol the Outer Rim and scanning for Imperial ships. It also doesn't help their patrol doesn't even include a corvette, it's just two X-Wing patrols. Moff Gideon, while apparently has a fleet, we've only seen an Arquintens and a Gozanti freighter. It's less noticeable than an Imperial 1 or 2.
maybe Filoni and Fraveau will try to avenge the New Republic, make captain Teva bring a fleet to shoot down Gideon's ship, maybe even a Starhawk for fanservice.
I seriously learn so much beyond Star Wars in these videos! This should be the education for the future! Teach kids through Star Wars!! Thanks Dr. Allen!
The new republic should have absorbed the imperial navy remnants. This would have strengthened them and gained the loyalty of imperial loyal worlds. The new republic was always going to fail without the Jedi. Planets and systems should have been allowed to govern themselves with trade agreements set up .
@@neomcdoom reminds me of the brotherhood of steel and the enclave from fallout. After beating the enclave they would never have been thought to cooperate together. But as in that case a strong willed jedi could have brought them together for a common cause.
The issue is that the New Republic is too busy fighting off score of Imperial tin-pot warlords who are trying to carve out their own mini-empires. For every Moff Gideon running around in the Outer Rim, there are at least three republic taskforces fighting ambitious imperial-revanchists.
@@admiralhydra519 it is crazy that of all the clone wars vehicles this was the only one that empire kept on using to its full purpose (turbo tank was used for transportation)
I wonder if moff Gideon's cape actually provides thermal or kinetic protection like Mandos? Perhaps yall could make a video on the versatility of capes, cloaks and other accessories that a space farer would need?
This is an amazing video. I loved how you relate (the show /cinematic universe) it to the real world and break it down in a way to understanding it from a realistic perspective. 💯🔥👍🏽
The Empire wasn't truly defeated, just put in the fridge for a while, all the way preparing Palpy's second coming. Moff Gideon was simply following his instructions while hiding in the Outer Rim, where people won't run to the authorities for fear that Gideon will retaliate before help arrives.
New Republic’s Centrist Senators are too busy profiting First Order Weapons. Leia confirmed it in bloodlines and Resistance. Kazuda Xiono’s Dad is most likely funded First Order weapons too, which explains why he survived after Hosian Prime was destroyed if he doesn’t believe in the Resistance and Tierny manage to Have Kaz’s Service records. Wish it would been more explore in the Mandalorian. I appreciate Dave Filoni and crew put effort of Cohesive and Consistency.
Moff Gideon is essentially making small but powerful moves far away from the new republic capital and saying “do you really want to start a whole war over this little move?” Never heard of that in human history...
I wouldn't be surprised if what Saw Gurraa and his group did during the Rebellion era also painted the Rebels and the New Republic in a bad light in terms of what the war did for people who wanted no part in the conflict. Let's face it for all the good intentions Saw had, he had innocent blood on his hands just as much as the Empire had, and because of those actions it wouldn't be a shock if the people who had issues with the Rebels used that as a reason for not viewing the Rebels to be better then the Empire in that respect.
Lando said it best in .y favorite Age of Empires reskin, "the Republic was spread too thinly across the galaxy, dealing with every Ex Imperial with a Star Destroyer that could call themself a warlord." And to play devil's advocate for the lunacy of the New Republic, maybe you can handle the average warlord with a squadron of X and Y wings, but what happens if they fail? How demoralizing would a squadron being wiped out in what should have been a routine mop up. It would be the New Republic's own version of the 90s US campaign in Somalia.
The NR leaders like Mothma wanted to go back to the galactic republic era which was frankly only good for planets inner rim to deep core, everyone else was ignored so for all we know the penta star alignment could be out there and the NR wouldn't do shit
When Thrawn arrives then we'll see how the New Republic force cops will fare against the Empire. The "good" side can lose too because that will bring the balance...
Maybe the new republic thinks oh yeah we got rid of the empire but we will take precaution and search the outer rim in case type s*** but this next episode is going to be a f****** amazing one
If you ever need a case against total pacifism in Star Wars look at Mandalore under Duchess Satine. We all saw what Maul did and was able to take over with Deathwatch.
Gideon reminds me a lot of Zsinj from legends. Zsinj was one of the few factions able to stand up to the New Republic. He even had his own SSD. Gideon operates very similarly.
I've been watching for a while, and I didn't realize that I wasn't even subbed up. Just rectified that. I enjoy your analysis and commend how you explain geopolitical issues in fiction and how they correlate to our world. Your knack for seamlessly inserting deadpan sarcasm in this particular video made my morning. Excellent content, and I hope your channel grows exponentially. 👍😎
the way you talk about things is how I talk to myself in my head 😳 oh but I love your videos you make amazing entertaining content and have your own flow thats just unmatched in the rest of this community! 🙌
If he is Generation tech does that mean we are Allen and if we are Allen does that mean Generation tech is all our names combined and does that mean we are generation tech and Allen doesn't exist anymore ?
Great video, as always. I find it odd that seemingly no one drew the parallels between the real world and the Star Wars novels/movies. I learned more about politics as a kid from reading a few of the prequel novels (building up to the Clone Wars) than I did civics classes. Lol. Oh well, art imitates life and vice versa, right? Take care and keep the videos comin' !
Good explanation of where the New Republic fits into this. Was curious as to why the First Order came about since the prequels did a really good job on explaining that.🙄 Nice shout to Abe Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. I actually liked that movie.
Love the switch up at the start! 'Welcome to another episode of alan, my name is genration tech' what happened to morgan freeman? Haha Love your work keep it up! From australia!
