The world is in love with the visionary, fashion icon: Edna Mode. As one of the world’s greatest designers and kind of engineers, Edna is powerful, intelligent and commanding even with her short size. Now we have seen her do a little bit of babysitting of supers in the Incredibles 2 , which I think has become a fan favorite moment, but what she is really known for is her incredible superhero suits. Edna is truly a diversified design artist, who I wish could design a fabulous wardrobe for me, but WHAT drew her to design for the supers? Is it the money, the recognition she can obtain or something else?
I post every Tuesday and Thursday, so check back then for more Disney, Pixar, Harry Potter, Star Wars and movie videos! If you have any questions about the Disney universe that you would want answered in a video, please ask away in the comment section!

There’s a cool theory that Syndrome’s death was because of Edna. When Edna found out that Syndrome was a super villain, she added a cape to his super suit. The best way to get rid of a super villain is to add a cape to their super suit. Super Villains:CAPES Super Heroes:NO CAPES!!!

Edna went through many different design changes before someone sketched her as a short, stubby woman with a huge head wearing glasses and that was chosen for her final design!

@@jasminejohnston6393 Obviously the artist knew about and was influenced by Edith Head. I understand that Edith also viewed herself as the first final word on design. I heard that if you questioned or criticized her, you had better be prepared for problems with your costumes until you apologized. I have no idea if this is so, but I could picture Edna doing that.😉

If supers are seen as gods, that's probably why Bob's boss was on such a power trip. He has a literal god working under his thumb. His behaviour is inexcusable, but that would probably go to his head.

My personal theory is that Edna Mode is immortal, and she LITERALLY designed for the gods, which on my head canon were also super people back in the olden times. And the new movie didn't disprove me on it, since she wants to be the official designer of the big three until the end of time, so yeah, to me Edna is immortal. And I mean she can die by being killed, she's only immortal to natural decay and death. That's why she doesn't fight crime or anything, because she could totally die on any fight. That's my theory and I believe it even if certain brothers took a peek at it and said "nah"

chris craig And it makes sense if you picture supers having existed since a long time ago, as I said, the Olympians could have been super people, the actual gods from cultures, and she literally designed all their capes (back when planes weren't a thing)

The timing of this is so completely hilarious. I just got back from New York City and seeing the Versace collection called heavenly bodies. In a lot of ways I think Edna Mode is a lot like Versace. The things that inspired her childhood became her life's work. She chose to apply all of her obviously immense talents to making designs that not only look good but also function Beyond expectations. For Versace that was his Catholic upbringing. For Edna Mode it was being around superheroes

My favorite thing about Black Panther's suit isn't just its appearance (though tbf the outfit kicks serious ASCII), but its practicality in taking it on and off. It's literally contained inside a necklace. Supes, Spidey, most other supers? Gotta find a phone booth or bathroom stall. Iron Man? Gotta go through a transform sequence that'd make Optimus Prime jealous, minus the defense of Transformers doing it in "cutscene mode" where they can't be attacked until it finishes. T'Challa? Just has to _think_ it, and out comes the suit from inside his necklace. I hate to say it Edna, but unless the Pixarverse has an analogue to Vibranium, you're outmatched in practicality here.

I don't mind them if they bring something different to the story. Cinderella brought the same story but made Cinderella a stronger character and a better love romance while Beauty and the Beast really felt mostly identical to the 1991 animated version with extra less necessary scenes.

I personally think that Edna had parents that were supers that had super suits that had capes on them and that one day as her parents were fighting crime their capes got caught on something and as a result her parents were killed. Thus the reason she doesn’t like capes. So as a result of her parents being killed she started to design super suits that didn’t have capes on them and would protect supers from all kinds of danger like fire or bullets.

I agree with you! I think also, that Edna worked so long with superheroes/heroines that she bonded with them and that fueled her love for making super suits even more.Hard shell but soft inside, kinda thing. It´s just a theory of mine, but maybe Edna fell in love in her younger years with a super. Maybe he/she did not survive because of a malfunction in his/her suit that she designed and now she thrives perfection, so she never have to face the guilt and hard break again. (?)

There’s a special place in my heart for Vibe’s suit over on The Flash because before Cisco got the chance to make his own suit, he made/helped make the suits for The Flash, White Canary, The ATOM, Green Arrow, etc. FINALLY, HE was getting the chance to suit up and be a superhero. The moment Cisco said “These are the gauntlets for my suit” in 3x02, I FLIPPED OUT!!!! Imagine how much time, love, and care went into making that thing. (He didn’t start wearing it until 9 episodes later!)

I think my favorite superhero costume of all time is Darkwing Duck's. Sure it may not be the most practical, what with the cape (No capes!!) & giant fedora & all- but you can't deny he has a great fashion sense.
