Why 'Eight Is Enough' Star Susan Richardson Now Lives In A Trailer 

I live in just the town over in West Chester Pa. I see her all the time in a Wawa near me. It’s really sad. I got her autograph and she said people should never get into show business at a young age. It gobbles you up and then they spit you out.

"I'm still here" and she's still beautiful as she ever was, inside and out. 😊🕊

Wow, how things change and turn out. I watched that show as a kid, in a blink of an eye, the world is upside down. Rather go back to 1978 if you don't mind.

So much positive energy, besides the difficult time she is facing.

I appreciate that the interviewer and the show itself was kind to her and did not exploit her by over-sensationalizing the situation.

I am so sorry to hear that she has been so sick. She was one of my favorites on Eight is Enough. What courage and strength she has. I wish there was a way to send her a card or something. My heart is just aching for her.

WOW! I was expecting a sad and depressing story; instead this was rather uplifting to see someone with such a positive outlook on life despite her dire circumstances. Also, despite her physical handicaps Susan's still an amazingly talented woman in the arts and music. Such a travesty that her gifts can't be put to better use. Just goes to show you should never pre-judge anyone!

I grew up during the 70s and 80s and I absolutely hate seeing some of these people I used to see on TV fall on hard times. She seems like a wonderful person in spite of her situation.

They say everyone gets their 15 minutes, Susan got even more than that, she got a taste of the high life, and you can call it tragic how she lives now, but I just call it LIVING, no reason to judge anyone, I've lived in Mobile Homes my whole life, she has a great attitude, and a strong will, I wish her all the best

I just saw her on an Episode of CHiPs called Battle of the Bands. She played a New Wave Singer. Then at the end of the episode Ponch gets on stage and sings Celebrate Good Times Come On !! I love seeing my childhood shows on nowadays.

I recall seeing her on a talk show where she had dropped tons of weight. She went on to tell a story about being held captive in North Korea while filming. People at the time wrote her off as crazy. There is nothing more frustrating than not being believed. Given what has since come out about others in North Korea, it's a lesson that we shouldn't automatically label a person. Sadly, social media today is quick to take offense and judge.

I couldn’t imagine turning off, tuning out, and dropping off the grid, despite being just 17 years younger than her and having grown up analog until my 20s, but she’s probably happier and less angsty overall (aside from her health issues) than many of us, wired in this noisy digital matrix of constant opinions, memes, and videos.

She seems to be doing what she wants...fancy digs don't matter, and "dumpster diving" for something useful (tho not for your dire needs) is not something shameful. I wish her well, and understand her desire to 'get away' from people and all the rush of city life.

She once said that the reason why her career faltered after Eight is Enough ended was because no one in Hollywood believed her claim that she had been held hostage by a group of Korean film makers who tried to kill her and apart from a few Eight is Enough reunion movies, she was unable to find any more acting work.

Nothing wrong with living in a trailer... I know a lot of retired people that chosed the trailer or RV lifestyle.

She is very positive and upbeat, but still this is a very sad story. How and why do people manage their money so poorly after such great success? Her co-star Lani O ‘Grady also ended up living in a trailer and died of a drug OD/possible suicide.

America needs about 100 million Tommy Douglas, Christopher Reeves 'Superman' turned into quadaplegic (it can happen to anyone). It is too bad that Reeves never spoke about Tommy Douglas in any of his speeches. His autobiography is definitely worth reading and discussing. It has at least one very funny paragraph.
