***UPDATE:* From overwhelming requests for ADH testing, we have created a lab test simply to find out your ADH levels (if you are new to Carnivore, try balancing electrolytes first with the video link below.) www.nutritionwithjudy.com/shopping/lab-work/antidiuretic-hormone-adh-electrolyte-testing *Balancing electrolytes on a Carnivore diet:* ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-62AzfQcDmr0.htmlsi=N6vRraEvipPvvgow *Info on ADH:* www.healthline.com/health/adh (Ask your doctor to run it.) I tried to answer many of your questions! I know my responses aren't the 'lose weight in 10 days' answers, but I want you to get to root-cause healing, and that often requires more long-term, hard work. But the fruits of your labor will be healing and finally living the life you can or choose to!! We do offer *ADH testing, but it comes with CIRS testing.* You can see the other markers we also test: www.nutritionwithjudy.com/shopping/lab-work/mini-chronic-inflammatory-response-syndrome-cirs-testing.

Mind-Body: I started carnivore over 3 years ago now, and within 3 weeks, my outlook on life completely changed, just from the diet. I went into carnivore kind of unsure. I was hopeful that it would help a little, but it ended up helping a LOT. It changed my life. Within 3 weeks, my severe depression vanished, so my view of life changed naturally, because of the diet. Even my taste in music changed and my clothing style changed because my view of life changed, plus I wasn't bloated anymore.

It wasn't enough for me on its own. I ate carnivore for 6 months in 2017 or so, and I was very committed. It was the best I ever felt. My energy was even, I became leaner, I stopped having GERD, my vision was better, I started seeing a dentist, and I took other steps to start taking care of my body. But I still had a host of psychological issues that never really got much better, likely because diet was a contributing but not primary factor. I still have eaten very meat heavy since then (and pretty well did before), but I have yet to fully commit in that way, despite some slow, heavy effort with therapy for my mental health. I expect one day I will be able to, but for right now, I accept that I have other work to do right now, and I can't change everything at once. That said, I'm very glad that diet alone is life-changing for so many people. Stories like that help keep me hopeful.

Judy, this is a thorough and wonderful summary of a wellness journey. Because of you I am now on the Shoemaker Protocol for CIRS. When you first spoke of CIRS I felt upset because I wholly believed a clean carnivore diet and wellness mindset would heal my body. I was wishing at that time that you would not be going off on tributaries away from the mainstay of clean carnivore and strategies for a wellness mindset. Both are foundational, but as you well note, may not be the full set of steps needed for perfect health. I wanted perfect health, yes even in my 60's! I did not want to hear about more causes--but time is a powerful teacher and after enough time I knew I had to go back and listen to your CIRS series (I had only listened to one talk). My eyes and ears were opened now and I could hear the information and knew in my gut that this was me. Thank you for bringing the CIRS information to the forefront for those of us who did not fully heal on a carnivore diet combined with mind-body practices. You are a true gift in the healing community. Thank you Judy.

There is more to great health than diet all though critical. As a mineral technician I have studied minerals as it relates to health for 25yrs. Through a specialized hair mineral profile the details show the mineral imbalances in the tissues not the blood. When I started I had A-fib of the heart and after about a year the condition completely reversed. I was so blessed to have found this protocol. I am affiliated with Analytical Research labs in Phoenix AZ. It changed my life along with carnivore diet. I like Judy and her approach.

I recently discovered that adding Redmond Relyte to my water daily has a dramatic improvement on my sleep quality. I track my sleep with an Oura ring and all my metrics were pretty poor from time to fall asleep, staying asleep, resting heart rate, and HRV. Added the Redmon Relyte to my water, 1 scoop per 1 liter of water and drinking 2-3 per day based on activities, and within a day my sleep metric all improved dramatically, going from poor to great according to my Oura ring tracker. No other changes than that. I even tested to see if I would still sleep if I strength trained in the evening instead of morning, and I still slept great this way. So, for me at least, low carb/carnivore requires added electrolytes in a fairly high quantity.

I have been on Carnivore for 70 days and the only downside is I cannot balance my minerals. So many report no problem with minerals on carnivore and don't have to worry about it. All the advice I've seen so far is less water, more water, less salt, more salt, take supplements don't take supplements. None of it working. I want to stick with it but am also tempted to add some carbs back in. Is there another way or another issue that could be causing it? What are the natural ways of treating ADH issues? Does a lot of sitting and little exercise make it worse? What if you don't have symptoms like excessive thirst or running to the bathroom a lot? ADH testing in New Zealand is also part of a wider CIRS test and is very expensive as it needs to go overseas for testing. Also requires an initial consultation before they will agree to do it. Thanks Judy for bringing this up as no one else has 😀

I’m sensitive to magnesium, and this was made more so- I like LMNT but can’t take much of it because of the magnesium. I’m planning to make my own with the chelated version. Took my a while to figure out it was the LMNT causing my problem because I was feeling very good otherwise on it. You might try ascorbic acid- just a little. Some people have too much bile, and this will counteract it.

I take high blood pressure meds. I think that is why I get cramps and have an imbalance. I bought some potassium supplements that I carry around with me. I will take one when I get a (legs & feet) cramp. Also, I carry the electrolyte drops in my purse. I put about 10 drops in my water bottle and it makes me feel better. I am going to keep going because some family members hadn’t seen me in a couple weeks, and they said that I lost a lot of weight. I told them I only lost 12 pounds, but I lost a lot of inches. It’s worth keeping going to me. When I get to my goal, I will start adding a piece of fruit and a little vegetables.

New subscriber here, this is the first time I have watched your video. This video has a lot to take in, and I think I need to watch it about 3 times. I am in a rural area in the Philippines, and I am retired here from the U.S. with my husband who is Filipino. We have been here 14 years. My husband who is 85 just had a VP Shunt put in because we found out he has NPH and dementia but was misdiagnosed with Parkinsons for several years. I discovered Keto and Carnivore last year. I started with Keto and have been gradually eliminating things. I am 71 and have been in pretty good health and am not overweight. I am hypo-thyroid, in my early teens, and when I went into menopause, but I was ok during my childbearing years. I did have migraines when I started menopause but found out about Magnesium and have taken that ever since then. Other than that I have always been in good health. In the process of trying to eliminate Carbs I have been having a lot of problems with leg cramps at night and extreme thirst and even though I have added salt and sometimes electrolytes to my water and even though I am drinking and even though I am drinking more than 60oz's a day in the night I will wake up because my tongue is too dry and I have to drink also I pee a lot at night. I am under a lot of stress caring for my husband, who is not able to do what we had hoped for, walking and talking.I am learning to eat more fat, I do notice it helps. Thank you for expressing what you said about eating any kind of beef you can, because it is hard to find good beef in the Philippines much less is it grass-fed, just give me the beef, when I can find it. I will rewatch the video cause I had to stop many times to help my husband.

I agree that diet is the number one place to start, years ago my first dietary step was to eliminate refined Sugars and used Stevia in my Coffee and that led me to drinking less Coffee eventually as my system began to regulate better. It may not seem like much of a step but looking back that was huge my stress levels improved continually. My journey started in a terrible state of being a smoker with Hepatitus C for over 30 years before getting the cure with the new drug therapy, my health was radicall transformed in one week after beginning that drug therapy. From that point on my quest has been health optimization and my baseline diet included Quality EPA DHA fish oil, mulitvitamins, and Vitamin D. That all led me to more activity and progress with more and more optimization in my life. So yes, diet is the real starting point and with that and or chronic health disorders put to rest is absolutely the best place to start. One more thing, I think one of the reasons the Carnivore diet is so great is that you lose the fortified commercial foods that are very unhealthy, but then again, who can get enough nutrients without supplementation? I certainly still do not have the know how or the means to do that nor do I think that it might be possible or practical so I wound up taking many many supplements testing one at a time. And I fully agree that for starters elimination in diet is the key to establish baseline health. I think I've tried it all and Carnivore if the best baseline diet to start with for sure with every other change springing off from there. Great video and I am a subscriber now and a fan of yours too. I love the Holistic approach and I think it's the only way towards personal universal great health.

Ultimately everyone is different, I started OMAD carnivore January 1st and experienced a lot of cramping for several months, I was taking all the electrolyte supplements including electrolyte drink but I think the body was still changing over to fat burning so the electrolytes were fluctuating. Normal, then a month ago I just said enough and stopped all supplements whatever, now I’m slowly bringing back supplements that I’m truly lacking including electrolyte drink, potassium, magnesium and melatonin for better sleep. Everyone needs to experiment and see what works for them. Good luck it’s worth putting in the time to figure it out, youtube can show you the door but you gotta walk through it.

I don't know what is wrong with me. Nearly two years or carnivore (mainly lion diet, I sometimes eat pastured pork and very rarely eat minimal conventional pork) without cheating. I have recovered in every way except that I still get acne and still regularly have loose stools. I passed the CIRS vision test, and on carnivore I don't experience most of the symptom clusters (though I met all of them before carnivore). I do not have a lot of stress, I started exercising 4-5 times a week after about 7 months carni and it didn't have any effect on my digestion or my skin. I was on 30 days of antibiotics in 2020 and 5 days in 2023 (while carnivore). I can't think of any other reason why my digestion might still be messed up. I can't even eat salt without getting diarrhea. I just did a 5 day fast and it did not help at all. I don't know what to do anymore. I will be carnivore for life but I'm tired of these ongoing issues!

take a look at SIFO: www.nutritionwithjudy.com/understanding-sifo-and-how-to-treat-it (if you take antibiotics it allows the fungal to flourish). and then consider a simple binder, you may just need extra help to detox and that may resolve a lot of what you are going through. More on binders here: www.nutritionwithjudy.com/rx-binders-vs-natural-binders-for-cirs. Sounds like you're pretty close to healing. The skin health is very affected by the microbiome health, so I'd start with the gut.

@NutritionwithJudy
@NutritionwithJudy 3 месяца назад
I had an interview with Eliot Overton a long time ago but we talked about it. B1 helps give us energy, and the only food in the carnivore space that has a lot of B1 is pork (which is why I'm a huge advocate of eating the rainbow of meats and not just beef over time or as you can handle other meats). Benfotiamine version of B1 can give you energy but sometimes there are underlying reasons there is a need for it. One is imbalances in the nervous system, which may even impact ADH. You can always consider the VCS test but if you feel better with B1, then I wouldn't try to fix anything that is not broken.

I have diabetes insipidus though not diagnosed as such. I wondered for decades how I can have ADH issues and not be diagnosed but I just came to realize its because of how rare this disease is. There is no diabetes insipidus type 2 or diabetes insipidus type 1 as there is with diabetes mellitus because its not a condition that many people get. I claim diabetes insipidus because nowadays we have the diabetes type 2 and diabetes type 1 and pre-diabetes. They all are caused by insulin malfunction and diabetes insipidus is caused by ADH insufficiency.....be that from over intake of water or not....its a disregulation of the water in the body. Anyway that is my rant when 35 yrs ago I asked my doctor...so do I have diabetes insipidus and he said a firm NO. As for electrolyte imbalances on carnivore (just wanna add here that I am in no way an expert) we disrupt the sodium/potassium ratio nature intended for us when we salt food. Beef has about a 1 to 4 ratio of sodium to potassium which is great for health. We then add so much sodium to natures balance and find we have electrolyte issues. If you salt your food your body adapts by using ADH to flush the sodium out but also your kidneys are now in flush mode and "IMO" all minerals get flushed. ADH as I understand it just tells the kidneys to make more urine. So now your flushing more and more water out your system on a daily basis and we have the keto/carnivore push for more salt....it kinda makes no sense IMO. Just dont salt like crazy and you will adapt to less salt taste and have an easier time maintaining electrolytes.

On carnivore I find I have to do a salt heavy mix, a potassium heavy mix, and magnesium pills or I do not get enough. I'm ok with it though, I know I'm supporting my body in the way it currently needs. And doing this has resolved other things, like the POTS symptoms being alleviated with salt or my heart palps with magnesium.

Judy, with regards to electrolyte imbalance. Have you experienced with a salt free carnivore diet? Couldn't there be an imbalance of potassium and sodium? I have heard from several long term carnivores that that is how they feel best and am trying it myself and am surprised that after a short adaptation period I do feel much calmer, sleep better and have more energy.

Hi, do you mean you no longer add salt to meals or water on the Carnivore diet? I am having sleep and fatigue problems on Carnivore after three weeks and while everyone says take electrolytes I am considering the opposite, to stop adding any salt or magnesium or Potassium and just try it eating the meat and fat. How long did it take you to see a positive change?

I know I have something more underlying. 2 years mostly clean carnivore and the only time I feel really good is when I go strict Lion but even then sometimes I have bad days. I'm 99% sure it's CIRS. Still haven't done the vision test but I have almost all of the symptom clusters. I can't find a CIRS doctor around me but my primary doctor was very interested in everything I explained about cirs. So I have a couple questions: 1. Can I use activated charcoal to clear mold? And how would I find dosage. 2. Can any doctor prescribe Cholestyramine for CIRS? And how do they find the dosage? 3. Would a low anti-diahrretic hormone make someones GFR go up? Because my doctor was shocked at how high mine was. Thank you for all the information you provide. I'm trying to heal myself and my son who recently got diagnosed with IBD (aka you have inflammation and we don't know why or how to fix it...).

I gave my Dr a packet of information on CIRS and told him I was working with a nutritionist that was certified in the shoemaker protocol but that I needed his help to work together with them ( NWJ) and he asked me what I needed from him and I told him that I needed him to write the prescriptions for the meds he was more than happy to help and I give him all the results of my tests along with the explanations and he is eager to learn and help. I just told him that there are no shoemaker trained providers in my area and that I knew he was certainly smart enough to understand it easily enough and because he is already my personal physician I’d like him to be on board. He was very happy with that so maybe your physician will be glad to cooperate with your shoemaker trained provider. I got Cheryl who works with Judy and she is wonderful!

1. Not entirely but it can clear toxins in general so it's a good add-on. 2. Yes if you are a good persuaded. Not everyone needs to be a CIRS doctor to get you the meds as it's a pretty harmless medication. You can work with our team for every one session or join our CIRS group to ask your dosage and next step questions. 3. eGFR does not affect ADH but it's a good thing to have eGFR above 100. Our markers do shift for kidney function on carnivore but it's because we are eating more meat, it's a normal response. Just make sure to drink sufficient water so you remove the breakdown products of protein and amino acids.

I’ve been finally able to balance my minerals being in ketosis but the histamines are my worst enemy. If I go completely carnivore (which I’ve done before for 6 months), I get a horrible histamine reaction but if I leave some fiber in, it seems to stabilize it a bit better but it seemingly never goes away 100 percent and I have to continue to take Zyrtec and Benadryl intermittently. Doctors just want to put me on allergy shots and cortisone shots. I had a food allergy test (IGE) and had a reaction to every single food that I was tested for except cashews. They also confirmed I have celiac disease. I’m just stuck in this weird place where I can’t deviate from a few foods or I get a reaction and I even sometimes get reactions to the foods that are safe for me. 🤔 I’ve even gone as far as getting meat that’s 100% grass fed and has been frozen right away and never eat leftovers…

Could be a thyroid issue. Been on carnivore for a few years. I noticed that I was bruising and bleeding easily. I thought maybe I was anemic. So began supplementing with b vitamins, especially folate. But it didn't help. I tried vitamin C. Didn't help either. Only when I began to take thyroid med for mild hyperthyroidism, the bleeding went away.

I am so allergic to chysthymums that I haven't been able to eat Organic tomatoes or peppers for years, because they spray an organic chysthymum based on both tomatoes and peppers to PREVENT pests! Thanks to you I am doing Carnivore first. When you have so many problems IBS, Chronic Fatigue, CIRS and severe menopause issues...sometimes you just have to knock one thing down at a time. HRT has finally allowed me to sleep more than 4-5 hours, while I was healing on carnivore, lack of sleep was slowing my progress! 1 thing that helped me believe i would heal was writing the little ways i was getting better, even if i was super slow..sometimes seeing is by focus and then seeing can help believing

Why? Pyrethrins break down rapidly and don't get absorbed into tomatoes and peppers, and less than 3% remains on the leaves after 5 days. It only has a one day hold period for all edible fruits and vegetables and leaves no residue.

Thank you for a good summary video. Can you give me a suggestion on the proper electrolyte intake? I have been on the diet for 3 months, but I feel fatigued on most days and want to give up. My protein/fat ratio is 50/50 and I eat enough (200-300 cal surplus). Sodium 2500-3500, potassium 5000, Magnesium 450. Many videos suggest sodium can be up to 5000-7000. Since the potassium/sodium ratio needs to be 2:1, this means I would have to increase potassium to 10,000-14,000. I’m afraid to increase the dosage since this is way beyond the daily recommended Potassium of 4700. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Eat a little of something that is high in oxalates when your feeling junky and see if it helps. If it does, it's probably oxalate dumping. You can eat a little oxalates every day and slowly decrease to wean yourself off gently.

2 notes: I thought all sugar-free electrolyte powders were the same: NO! Read your electrolytes and make sure it is the same ratio as LNMT otherwise you could have trouble sleeping from the wrong balance. I also thought collagen (costco) in coffee was fine...but it doesn't have tryptophan and you won't sleep because of the lack of tryptophan...so either switch or get tryptophan. Nothing like having trouble sleeping and collagen & electrolyte inbalance making it worse!

Judy, if we've been in mold a long time, our bodies do not metabolize fat and it creates problems with eating high animal fat diet. Obviously, going to the root cause is the answer. Is there a way to support fat metabolism until our bodies have recovered this function?
@JillianPhillips-g3j
@JillianPhillips-g3j 2 месяца назад
So if your ADH is too low what’s the solution? Give it more time? Take a supplement? What’s causing it to be too low and how do I increase ADH? This topic can be a whole different video.
