10 Reasons Europeans Hate Living in The United States. It isn't just one or two countries in Europe, it is the map of Europe in this video.
Since the 1700s Europeans have been coming to the Americas en masse. That is starting to slow down. Why is that you ask? Well in this video we are going to find out. I ran a survey asking foreigners to the US, if would they want to live in the United States if they said “no” there was a follow-up question of why. I list 50 different things that are most commonly talked about as negative to the United States.
So, today we look at the reason Europeans won’t move to the USA

The reasons why Europeans used to come here really don't exist any more. Ireland isn't starving. Refugees wandering from country to country due to the devastation of a world war has not happened since 1945. If you live in a safe place, have a job and can spend time with family without worrying about going bankrupt if you get sick, why leave?

Immigration from Europe came to a trickle a century ago. Your assessment applies to western and Northern Europe, but it didn’t apply to Eastern Europe and Italy until after WWII. Not a lot of people really directly immigrated from France, Spain, or Portugal, at any point in history.

Don't listen to the whiners who can't even understand moving for work, it's beyond them. You can make misery or happiness anywhere. My family moved here from Mayo and Waterford 80+ years ago. 4 hard working generations of plumbers, carpenters, lawyers, doctors, firemen, teachers, welders and more. Had a family member move back to Ireland to retire for the first time 3 years ago. Just remember the US is VERY LARGE, you can find all kinds of places here without leaving the country. Depending on where you live it may be very easy to feel at home...if you want it to. 👌

For a state brutally robbed by Germans from the West and Russians from the East, betrayed by US and UK in 1945, and which, historically speaking, just recently broke a communist yoke - very few US citizens have any idea what that kind of oppression means - it is by far not a bad result. Comment about the Polish guy's spelling was out of order. Gun crime is not a perception. Just google international murder rates and you'll see. I don't know what it is. There is a misconception that guns are illegal in Europe. They are not. I live in the UK. Some guns are illegal like small handguns and automatic rifles but simple shot guns and rifles are not illegal. But they are strictly controlled. You need a licence from the police who will check why you want a gun, where and how you will keep it and they will check your background for criminal records, violence and history of mental illness. They can remove your license and guns at any time if you get into trouble. But people don't buy guns here for protection. You'd buy a gun if you needed it for pest control like if you were a farmer or if you were into shooting as a sport. Therefore there is no vicious circle of people using guns for crime and then everyone else having them for protection. It's just not a thing. Nobody's really that interested in them. A watershed moment was Dunblane, Scotland when a madman went into an infant school and shot some five and six year olds in 1996. The country was traumatised and strict gun control has never been questioned or even up for debate since and we have never had another school shooting since. The USA on the other hand, after Sandy Hook seemed to decide that your children's lives were an acceptable price. It's the most dramatic example of the cultural differences between Europe and the USA. The USA values more the freedoms TO (eg freely own a gun) and Europe thinks about freedoms FROM (eg the threat of our children being shot in school).

The European system is designed to fail you out as soon as possible and move you to a vocation track. Fewer Europeans going to university is the downside, but American education inflation is another problem this creates. A bachelors isn't worth much anymore. Americans wouldn't stand a chance in Europe's very rigorous college entrance exams or the rigor of a 10th grade high school class. And American schools have zero discipline nowadays, which is becoming a global problem. Sad but true. Americans spend more on education and yet have the worst (or among the worst) educational outcomes in the industrialized world. Americans don't look for information on their own and expect to be spoon fed it or get it from TV. Europeans know better than to do this. You have to teach yourself in this life.

Briggs since you asked about the foreign banking thing, the U.S. is one of only a few countries (I think Eritrea is the other) that tax citizens who live overseas on their global income. As a result, foreign banks have to abide by IRS regulations on accounts owned by Americans. Some foreign banks are of the opinion that it's easier to disallow accounts owned by Americans than it is to comply with IRS regulations, seeing as how the bank is not even located in the U.S.

As other comments said, the reason why Europeans don’t move to the US or other “new world” countries anymore is because Europe is no longer the troubled continent ravaged by war, famine, ethnic/religious conflicts, extreme poverty, and oppressive dictatorships that it once was. I'm neither european nor north american, but as someone who have lived in both I think I can say somethings about it. Here's the deal: European citizens are culturally accustomed to living in a smaller, simpler and more welcoming property, without the extravagances of North American superlativity. The European has a home, while the American has a house. Europeans go to the neighborhood grocery store on foot or by bicycle, pick up only the products they need to stay nourished and satisfied, pay for their purchases and say goodbye to the cashier, whom they call by name. The American gets into his huge car, goes to a gigantic supermarket chain that has stores even in Saturn, fills two supermarket carts with huge and endless boxes of industrialized products full of chemicals, pays at a totem and leaves. When leaving the grocery store, the European passes by the café on the corner, which has been there for decades and still belongs to the same owner as always, and drinks his routine $1.50 cappuccino that comes in a bucolic and tiny cup that reminds him of his grandmother's house, while exchanging ideas with an acquaintance he met there about life, family, the show that is on at the weekend, the idea that the author wanted to convey. The American, in turn, passes by a fast food chain and doesn't even get out of the car. He uses the drive thru to order his half-liter cup of decaffeinated coffee with another box full of something he calls food, pays without leaving the car and leaves eating inside the vehicle. while talks to someone using a chat app about the new bigger car and the new bigger house he wants to buy, as if the car and the house he's already got weren't big enough. Europeans send their children to school alone, on foot or by bicycle, because their city is safe for pedestrians, the elderly and children, and their children grow up exercising and with a sense of independence. Americans put their children in a car and take them to school crossing super busy and congested streets, bordered by endless acres of parking lots, closed suburbs, no sidewalks, no bike lanes, no passers-by, nothing. Europeans have many of the same problems as Americans, though. They have also fallen victim to modernist indoctrination that compels them not to have children. This has forced them to import immigrants from very different cultures, which will certainly put an end to their way of life within a few decades. TO BE CONTINUED bellow.

Continuation: But I love the USA anyway! I think America is a better country than my homecountry will ever be. America has a unique and unnamed feeling when you're there which is hard to describe. I believe the intentions of the people who colonized it is still alive, although it seems to be decreasing with each generation. I think Americans should fight to bring those intentions and desires back. Don't let America become a memory! And most of all, do not allow these mysterious political and economic entities to continue indoctrinating your children to hate their own country and feel contempt for their history and their ancestors.

It is very, very true about the issue of banking services overseas. Congress passed FACTA a few years back to try to catch Americans who were hiding money abroad. The end result was that many, many banks throughout the world refuse to work with Americans, even Americans who aren't rich. When I lived overseas, my personal banker told me that I shouldn't say anything about being an American because if the higher ups at the bank find out about it they'd close my account. They hate dealing with Americans and it's a serious problem for Americans who want to live outside the USA.

It’s like everything else: there’s a ton of nuance to consider. Take racial tensions, for example. Western Europe has taken in tons of migrants since WW2 (especially since 2000) and the only reason there isn’t as much tension is that the migrants are mostly settled in enclaves that are somewhat isolated. And they’re ignored. But, as happens, those people lack opportunities and many turn to criminal pursuits that have resulted in increased crime and a lot of resentment. Google Malmo, Sweden or search videos for Birmingham, UK. Or the suburban projects outside of Paris or Marseilles. There a lot of hypocrisy involved with that response. Many of the others are quite subjective. Remember that much of Europe is pretty densely populated so public transport makes far more economic and practical sense than it does here. We could argue healthcare all day long. Most European countries are great if you break a leg or have strep. But the US is far better for more complex issues. Lastly, the IRS; I 💯% agree with this one. Our tax system is absolutely insane. And the IRS are worse than the Mob. Also, our tax rates aren’t much better than many European countries because so many states have confiscatory tax policies too. So the total rate can be oppressive yet you don’t get the services that someone in, say, France gets. Oh, and let’s not forget that our sales taxes are added onto the price. Europeans hate that because if an item there is €20 or £10, that’s the price. Not €21.65. Their VAT is included in the price.

I retired and live in Thailand. The amount of paperwork a Thai bank has to do to accept an American customer is mind blowing. It is fairly common for banks to refuse American customers. The transportation system in Bangkok is WAY better than anyplace in the US. The healthcare system throughout Thailand is also cheaper, much more accessible, and provides care from western trained doctors. My Thai health insurance is a little cheaper than my US policy cost. I am so glad to have put the political and cultural climate in the US with 8,000 miles in the rear view mirror. Thailand has its politics but, as a retired expat, it has little effect on me. Immigration - if you are over 50 it is easy to legally live long term in Thailand. There are some financial requirements so that may or may not be an issue. Navigating the immigration process can be a challenge but it is doable for anyone who doesn’t forget their brain at home. There is a language barrier. No getting around that. I have to give the Europeans a 👍 for their English proficiency. There are guns in Thailand but nothing like the American gun culture. That may be a factor. Secondly, the miscellanea of regional accents is disappearing in the U.S. but is more perceptible for foreigners who's second (or n-th) language is English. Perhaps most of the respondents he had were more from Central & Eastern Europe, and therefore are more heavily focused on B.E. This is actually the way most of US society prefers. While I personally like THE IDEA of a flat tax- also known as a regressive tax- system in theory, in practice, this results in the majority of the tax revenue coming from mostly the working and middle classes, since that’s who makes up the majority of the population (we’re starting the see the consequences of this with funding Social Security which itself is funded by a flat tax). The reason that progressive taxation was introduced was so that higher income bracket populations pay more of their fair share of tax revenue.

Yeah, I think the USA media outlets purposely portray us as gun crazy maniacs to keep the Europeans out. LOL! But, that's a good thing. I don't know anyone who has ever dealt with someone waving a gun at them, and I'm over age 60!

Well, the US do have more mass shootings than anywhere else in the world, bar countries at war or tribal conflicts. And you hold that record by a good margin. Mass shootings (i.e. 4 or more people injured or killed during an incident) in the US in 2023 was in the hundreds and number two in that year, didn't even get to 30.

I would like to visit the USA as a tourist to see the great nature spots like Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Niagara falls etc., but living there? With all of the trigger happy nutheads, the poor work life balance, the overpriced only-fat-and-sugar food, the flimsy wood and paper houses, the ugly cars? And on top the health care system, the hire-and-fire culture, the undemocratic political 2-party-system? No, thanks.

Never-ending "wars" that we don't approve of, don't want to pay for, and didn't get to vote on. War is a $$ racket.

Not giving up my cars and trucks. My truck won't even fit on a European village street. Not giving up my guns either. 🎉 this country is huge. Need our cars.

As a Canadian I love to visit the US. I can’t say I feel real safe all the time but likely because I go to New York, New Orleans, and San Antonio. I should have moved there when I was younger (I am a nurse) but I went to live in France instead. One selling point in the US for a Canadian: places that get no snow in winter! ❤️ from 🇨🇦

Some states don't get snow, I however live in the Rockies, and we get pretty bad winters (probably nothing compared to Canada though)

@@frenchfriedfish1990 Yes the Rockies would be snowy for sure. Only difference is that you can move somewhere warm without emigrating to another country! ❤️ from 🇨🇦

My mom worked 2 jobs in Hong Kong, yet SHE STILL had a higher quality of life because of the social system. Trains were amazing and cheap, people didn’t fight about every little thing, food was fantastic. When work was over, it was play time. Now in 🇺🇸, after work…it’s bill time.
