Nemo isn't the first winner to break his trophy. Alexander Ryback, who won for Norway in 2009, broke the first ever glass mike trophy. A previous contest had a gag about the presenters breaking the mike.

The interaction at the press conference was AFTER the incident. The press conference was three minutes after his performance. His behaviour during that conference is probably part reaction to that incident. My guess is that his “why not” had nothing to do with Israel, but with not having to answer. He had just had the ‘incident’, where he got mad because being filmed immediately after performing, against agreements that EBU did not honour. (He cries at that time; look up his performance at lowlands where he hides his tears under a flag). So if he has to comply against his wishes, why does somebody else - regardless of country - not have to do so? BTW it is ridiculous and unheard of to DQ someone on the sole fact of an investigation. Yeah, officially it started with a suspension, but withdrawing a suspension would mean EBU losing face. Out of the question. Had he performed, than his jurypoints would already have been influenced by that suspension. So there was no way back. The proper way to handle this would of course have been to let him rehearse and perform, until there was something indisputable and solid enough to justify DQ - which there still is not. Guess they were afraid of scenario that the winner had to be dqed. Or just wanted to get back on him because of his general behaviour.

the reason he didn't want to be filmed at that moment is because he is always very emotional after his performance, no matter how often he does that last bit about his parents, it remains difficult for Joost. That's why he said: you can film me, but please not when I just come off stage because I am extra sensitive. it is indicated every rehearsal and yet she went to film it. We also think that they took every reason to get rid of Joost because the EBU wanted to get rid of Joost because he was too outspoken. After that last emotional interview with Bambi, just look at how tough it was behind the scenes. very dishonorable😞 #justiceforjoost

After he missed the rehearsal, someone from one of the delegations (I think I know which one but I don't want to say because I'm not 100% sure) - but they harassed him saying, "Where were you, we missed you" (sarcasticly)...and he grinned at the camera, seemed proud of himself.

It’s the battle of the broadcasters. They put money towards the show. The money for every vote in the finals goes to the broadcaster of the countries artist country voted for. Broadcaster Zwitserland 🇨🇭 won (the most money) and therefor this is hosting next year. And the European broadcaster lottery starts again. But seriously you can believe its about the music.

There was controversial behind the stage about that Israel was bullying Ireland, Switzerland, the Netherlands and even Spain deligation. Eurovision was a mess. Happy that the people who came to the show did stand behind Joost klein and made a booing sound because of the disqualification.

@@Shireen52 there are video’s that the Israeli film other contenders, while they have said they didn’t want to be filmed. Also the comments they have made about bambie thug and Nemo is aweful. So don’t say that Israel deligation is that innocence or the victims.

Israel was 100 percent pestering other contestants, filming their reactions and then posting it online, it was despicable behaviour, and videos are now surfacing online. They should of been banned from performing, the crowd reaction says the truth... boooooo

It's NOT double standards. Israel is in the European Broadcasting Area, which is an area that extends beyond the continent of Europe. Go look for the map if you dont belive me. It's not a competition restricted to European countries. Other countries outwith the continent of Europe have taken part before and others can too, if they wish to do so and if they meet the criteria set out by the EBU (European Broadcasting Union) who organise the competition. Take Morrocco, for example, who have entered the competition in the past and as I said, other countries are able to do so, if they wish to do so, and if they meet the criteria and their state broadcaster is a member of the EBU. The Israeli state broadcaster has been a member of the EBU since 1957! I believe that there is a difference , and certainly the EBU saw it that way, between Russia engaging in an unprovoked invasion of Ukraine and Isreal, who faced a Brutal Terrorist attack on Israeli soil by the Government of Palestine, which led to many atrocities and they also took many hostages too, many of who are either now dead or are stiil being held in Gaza. Israel are trying to eliminate the threat, and the leaders of Palestine have said they will do it again and again. They are also trying to get the surviving hostages back! Personally, I dont believe in bans or calling for bans of performers or athletes as I would like to see more of the politics out of the likes of music and sport. It just comes across as childish and petty to me. The citizens of a country are not the government. People need to come together more.

But Israel did break so many rules, which was looked away from because of corruption or fear of losing the big sponsor from Israel. In the case of competition i believe that the art should be seen seperate from the artist, and if Joost did something he should be judged for it after or beside the festival. With exeption for if it was really bad, but from what i see Israel has done worse things with regards to the competion like provoking/harrasment of others who where not openly pro Israel.

@@CatsLilaSalem Do you have conclusive proof of your claims please and sources? There is a lot of propaganda surrounding war and claims and counter claims. I think it's important to state facts. Im no expert and I welcome anyone to correct me but right now the UN have not concluded that war crimes have been committed by the Israeli state. Whereas Russia I believe it was concluded that it was an illegal war?

I have to respond, first of all I really enjoy listening to your insights and I think you are fair and caring. Regarding the matter with Yost, when something is under investigation, even if you know what happened to him with the Swedish photographer, it is forbidden to publish until the investigation is legally over. Therefore, it seems that something a little more serious happened than we know, we have to wait. And it is important to know that this has nothing to do with Israel, it is part of the propaganda of the supporters of Palestine. Regarding Israel, it is not in Europe like several other participating countries, the reason they are participating is because they are part of the European Broadcasting Union. Even Egypt was once in Eurovision. The real reason for the protest is anti-Semitism. Of course Israel should participate unlike Russia who started a war against Ukraine, the war between Israel and Gaza ("Palestine") was started by the Palestinians and not the other way around. They committed a terrible and terrible murder in Israel, and kidnapped people, of course Israel is reacting back. And another interesting piece of information, in the Semi Final Yost was second in votes and Israel was first.

Swedish press Aftonbladet told: according the info Police gave to the press he didn't attack, nobody was hurt. He will be accused for illegal threat. = So he.. how do you say it in english ? He showed his fist in a threatning way. Didn't hit or touched. There was 2 woman there btw. accusing him. None were injured. Joost aplogized straight away. Oh, and the broken camera... that was not mentioned in Aftonbladet. He will be in court in the beginning of June accused of illegal threat wich is minor crime in Sweden so he won't be jailed or anything like that.

Investigation is already over and turned it over to the court to see what they want to do with it. If he is found guilty it will probably a fine, determined by how much he makes in a year. Last night he took a private jet to a regional airport to avoid hassle at Schiphol, so he was allowed to leave Sweden.

Joost didn't want to be in the same shot with anyone from the Israelian delegation. Then they started filming with him in the background. But that all doesn't have anything to do with the incident that happened Thursday night after his performance. As he was the last artist he also had to rush to get to the green room. Not sure where it actually happened, if it would have been close.to the stage we would have heard more from people in the audience. So most likely it really happened backstage where the access is limited. Also the question remains and is not very clear was it a photographer or was she holding a film camera. There is being said that the camera is damaged, but also that he broke her phone. If she was filming release the footage. Did she drop the camera herself as she startled from his move or did he pushed the camera out of her hand. Hopefully we will get answers, but with the EBU we will never know I'm afraid.

As a Dutchy I was of course behind Joost. But now it turns out that he acted because he disagreed with Israel on the festival, and everyone knows that it is an apolitical program, so it is his own fault that it turned out this way. And so next year we will give someone else the chance who can handle themselves.

And that blue bird made a video related to Israel. And if you are at an A political festival, you just know that you have to be quiet when making statements about other countries. And cool Joost thought differently. Sweden is just not as soft as the Netherlands.

@@NoNo-sj2ly was not a smart move of Appie to make that video, but understand it has been made out of frustration. It seems the incident happened in a small hallway where the contestants arrive when they leave the stage. Weird thing, some footage has been released from other artists, but not Joost's footage. Joost is very emotional and especially right after the song he wants to be left alone.

@@TeacherPaulReactsI've tried to explain in a previous post in the comments. Please have a look if you have not done so already. It's about the European Broadcasting Area and state broadcasters being members of the EBU (or associated members). Its not restricted to European countries. Australia were invited, initially as a one off for the 60th Anniversary. That's now been extended. I believe it had a lot to do with how popular the competition was in Australia. The competition has been shown on Australia TV since the 1980's. Things are already tense right now, we dont neen things stired up by possible mis-information. I think it's important not to just say things like "it's double standards" without having a grasp of the facts. I say that with respect. ❤

@@TeacherPaulReactsAustralia were invited as a one off originally (that's been extended) in 2015 for the 60th Anniversary of the competition. I believe it was due to the interest shown as the competition is popular there and has even been shown on Australian TV since the 1980's. It's not just EBU members either. It can be associated members too. I'm certainly, no Eurovision expert. I've just been researching in past few days.

Btw the, israeli entry was re written twice for being 'political' - while talking about the massacre of 10/7, they even made us change eden's dress. Ebu also banned even the idea of the israeli team supporting the cause of releasing our hostages. Of course portugal had to be punished. That was shameful, we all know eurovision rules.
