I realised this game was done few years back.. think it was fifa19.. I played fifa since forever and I never used right analog and such. Well the story is I used to beat my cousin who is younger than me with ease.. I read his play and he could almost never win.. he was around 13-14 years and fifa 18 or 19 came out.. all of a sudden I struggle... he spins in the air, vollys it in the corner 40m out.. times shots.. dont matter if he is facing the goal, dont matter if he has the right angle.. no, was not important.. he had mastered flicks, right analog and time shooting.. dont matter if I read his play no more, he went through me. Dont matter if I outplayed his defence and had the cleares chance no.. no.. he moved the GK.. I began to lose and I had to sweat to even grab a narrow win..
Well hello there. It's the big man. Inception might have eased down on the roasting of EA's bs game for the betterment of his channel but between these two nobody out there realer when it comes to Fifa imo.
@@ADMEX7 dude its literally like every play is a magnet and the ball is attracted to the players. Whats random about that? Play PES you will see lightyear difference
I deleted my fifa games. I’m done being fucked by an incompetent game company that is EA. I implore everyone to not buy future EA sports games because we do not deserve any more bullshit
Yeah it’s basically now just a video game that promotes learning skill combos to get through rather than a football game that promotes using real life plays
That's an old one in the script by EA. I remember it best from Fifa 11. Your fullback always makes sure to stay behind so the opponent is onside, as well as to be far away enough to not be able to reach that said opponent. Just a game developed by nerds who never played the sport, so they don't value your irl IQ of football.
New development being a defender now sprints up to the D box to defend. And funny bit is, your team mates don't make the run to beat the offside. What a glorious game.
Does anyone else feel like people who’ve watched and played football all their lives struggle against people who only play fifa? Cause it seems that way. The passes you know should work don’t work and the passes you’d never even let enter your mind are the “perfect” ball...
I can have 60%+ possession, spend ages building plays just for the final through ball into pure space fuck up. Then get countered with a through ball with it refusing to switch to my cb
Welcome to FIFA, where the best way to break down a team is to aim for the opponent, and the best way to dribble past a defender is to run straight at him. The best way to defend is run away and the best way to shoot is taking half chances. No logic
The shooting one is infuriating. If you're 10 yards out and in front of the keeper, whatever shot you choose it will be saved. Shoot from the tightest angle ever and your 75 rated striker will find the far top corner. Then add in 90+ rated keepers who palm every shot and their is no skill
It's just because football have a giant fanbase and the graphics are beautiful. Even with this facts, fifa has a very small rate of people watching compared to other e-sports because the game sucks a lot. I've stopped playing and it was the best decision of my whole life without doubts.
This explains a lot. Also, defenders are too vulnerables to 1-2’s as they are baited to move away instantly even if u knew the ball’s gonna come back to that player. Insanely frustrating.
couldnt agree more, i have played just about every mainstream game, not even rng loot in the worse br in history would make me upset the least bit, but 3 mins of fifa21 i have a headache. Very unhealthy and disgusting game to play, everything about the game is just wrong.
That's why I never select a defender. I let AI handle that and all my defenders run back on their own. As soon as I select a defender they magically start running slow
You can actually change this in the settings so defenders will keep moving the way they were going when selecting them, I recommend putting it on low. This game has a lot of bullshit, but this one is fixable.
I just started playing fifa21, thought I was going crazy at how easily my defenders were getting passed around. I was sure I'd blocked passing routes - this video at least explains some of it. Thank you!
9/10 times i read my opponents play, try to cut passing lines et cetera. However i always fail to get the ball. The ball literally rolls 1 ft past my defender and he does not even care to move his leg and intercept the ball... it makers you feel so powerless...
i swear it piss me off. Even when you guess your opponent's intentions , your player is going to stay in the front of the ball and watch it passing near him, EVEN when you're on the passing line
That frustrates the hell out of me. Especially when passing to a team mate and the AI keeps them running a bit too long, the pass misses their feet by a millimeter, the AI controlled teammate can see the ball yet makes no attempt to adjust their position to get a touch and control the ball to keep the play going.
The worst part is, going ultra defense and not switching does all the work, manually switching is actually detrimental in this game you'll just play everyone onside by dropping off and the ball will just go past the defender anyway
PES has good physics in their passing system. You feel like what you do matters. Passing, tempo, acceleration, timing, everything. As someone who loves to play the sport in real life, I really appreciate what Konami has done with that game as it's the closest you can get to playing the game digitally.
Pes isn't much better. It's like choosing between eating shit and drinking piss. Just because you'd rather do one over the other, doesn't mean it's good.
@@skettinbutter3635 Pes game play is so good,a couple years ago when they released the demo I thought this is amazing then when I bought the full game I couldn’t believe how much of the game cheats you or your opponent depending on your last 5 games or how much money you have spent on micro transactions
Exactly, just by playing the first 10/15 minutes of a game I can already tell if its scripted or not... The skill gap is so low that I (elite 2/3 player) managed to won against a pro player in a game where EA clearly helped me, but for some reason I struggle to win against gold 3/2 players.
Some games u feel like a god and some ur planned to lose. I had a few games recently where my players were blatantly leaving the ball so the squad battles team could just hoard possession and I just couldn’t ever get it back. None of my players run in behind either unlike usual
@@gddanielk8491 That lack of running behind happens alot to me In games were i lose! No matter how well i play and hold the ball jntil the last second none of the forward players move an inch🤷♂️
The coolest sistem EA has implemented this year, speaking of passes, is the AI that chooses always the player that is in offside position. If you have two players one offside and another on, the pass will always, always no mather what, go to the offside player. Cheers.
Omg I thought this was only something that happened to me. You can aim in the exact opposite direction and it still goes to the offside player. It's ridiculous.
And when there's only one player who just runs offside the game "assists" the pass and tries to make it to a completely different direction to avoid that offside. Only to be intercepted which often can lead to a counter attack. If I make the mistake then let it be an offside instead of ruining the match by giving the opponent the counter attack
Perfectly described the current state of passing. When watching the video, I recognized a few gameplay scenes and realised you used my gameplay as an example 👍🏼😅
hahah yeah, a couple were from a game you somehow barely won. Watched it on stream and we were all confused how your opponent got his 3 goals, but that's FIFA. Unlucky on that through ball
Thank you! This is also a reason why playing without the ball/defending feels so terrible in this game, even against AI. I hadn't play a FIFA in a few years and was absolutely disgusted with what I found, it made me quit. Football games had passing errors since the dawn of time, I still find astounding that whenever there's a player in offside position, no matter if you want to pass the ball to the oposite side it will almost always choose that player, it's a joke that things so basic can't be fixed to this day, but the fact that they get worse every year is too much for me.
The reason I got into rocket league was precisely because every single decision you make has consequence. It makes every mistake painful and every little triumph exhilarating
@@nabilhacene5896 That's EA for you, they don't care about people complaining about battlefield, they don't care about people complaining about star wars, and they don't care about people complaining about fifa, or nba, or any other game that's in exclusive development of EA. They know people will still buy their games and spend money on virtual currency, and guess what. That's exactly what happens. They do hear all the complaints, but they know that even if they don't make a change it doesn't matter... It wouldn't matter because they're still making their sweet revenue. It's not even just EA at this point, the biggest developers are going this way currently, and it's not just about fifa having bad AI, or them ruining your chances which will probably make you spend money on cards and also give them more playtime as you're getting frustrated and thinking "maybe this next game I can play better". It's about the state of video games as they're expanding more than ever.
Also what EA does to gain more profits is drastically boost players’ stats like what they did in this promo, so that even if you have a full icon team, a lot of icons probably can’t compete with those new cards.. so people never satisfy with the squad they have, just imagine icons can’t beat future stars cards...make no sense.. EA can pretend they care about the fairness of the game, especially for newer gamers, but in reality it’s all for money
thanks, always had this in the back of my mind while playing. never took my time to actually care and think bput it enough but u did it for me mate thanks all my pain is shared good to know
For too long I thought I was crazy and the flaws in FIFA were all my own incompetence. I see now that I'm not the only one who struggles with this crap
They made it like that so all the kids and teenagers will keep playing it. If the game was truly fair they would lose a lot of money, less kids would buy packs etc . The system is being implemented because it makes games more addictive and it's profitable for them
6:57 is one of the reasons why this is the worst fifa ever and only stop at gold 3 now. never seen such a low skill gap in my life idc what anyone says utter shambles
Don't get why we all don't get together and sue EA. They release a perfect game at the start with the new features but then downgrade the game after 1 update leading to next years garbage game looking better. They get away with this and no one says anything. Criminals.
Keep up the good work man, these vids are spot on. Us OGs of fifa are quickly falling out of love with this game because off all the assist and points you mention in your video. You hit the nail on the head!
Girlfriend: Just turn it off then if it's not fun... Me: I've just gotta win this last game! (practically having to break the controller to stop Fulham aka scripted prime Barcelona prevent me from winning the title)
It is even more noticeable when you turn it to "semi" assisted. It at times does exactly what you want but sometimes it doesn't go even remotely to a location you press it to go. And there's still the same problem with the hybrid passes when the AI changes the pass to either your advantage or against you depending on what side it wants to favour.
Omg I just found this video and it is freaking gold! This is everything I go thru but can't explain! shout out to you bro everything you said here happens all the time 💯. this shit is sad.
I think tackling needs a big fix too. The amount of times I’ve tackled an opponent who is fully sprinting straight at me and they have continued with the ball without a dip in momentum speed or ball control is outrageous. Attacking bias is a huge problem.
Exactly this. Or my favorite is when I see my AI players literally move out of the way for the offense to run past. "Well you should change to the right defender!" They say. I'm sorry, I was blocking passing lanes because the AI defenders don't do that either.
defense is so bad. I have a video of my defender jumping to block a ball and as soon as the ball got to his body it magically moved out the way and a perfect volley goal for the computer
Now the only time I play FIFA is when I’m fucking around on pro clubs with friends, I just can’t be arsed playing a game dictated by the games assistance features and not by the skill of the players. Interceptions are a complete joke as you have a higher chance intercepting the pass if you let the AI control the defender instead of yourself.
I agree, I have raged so many times at the passing, as well as some of the refereeing decisions, giving fouls for good tackles, I haven't played a football game in sometime and have seen a lot of problems that use to annoy me in the past are still there
Unfortunately they prefer to listen to non competent “gamechangers”. I am from Germany and just a week a go a huge fifa streamer just a made a “realtalk “ video talking about some “problems” in this game. Well, quite laughable. He talked about the “bad walkout design at toty” and that there haven’t been much “lightning rounds”. Moreover he criticized the cr7 flashback sbc, saying that Ea “needs to think more beyond the sky, cause the stats are to bad.” Meanwhile saying that he had over 200k fifa points on his account.. also he criticized the fact that for ex messi has just an “98” instead of an “99”. What I want to mention is that Ea should stop to listen to these kind of people as their gamechangers to improve the game and get some competent players like stallion or inception even if they are not that famous or “mainstream”. I think that would be a little step to improve this game, especially gameplaywise again.
I think the problem is.. they know about this. But they don’t want to change. One, because they don’t know how, and second, the mass casuals need to feel they are playing globe trotters football.
nope its the core of the game handicap inside and use Variable rewards of psychology make you win a few games and then increase the difficulty of it to hook you
They cant yeah you heard it right. They can't fix everything in the same time.. they need to create a whole new game with new codes. You think that dev of fifa happy to see that kick off glitch every year in their game. Absolutely not. But they cant fix it without change all the game, and as they think.. the game's perfect when still millions of people buy it every year. Its goind perfectly.
This game treat professionals as if they either have ultra instincts and have figured out the matrix or have the braincells of a cabbage there is no inbetween.
I started playing football games in 2004, x (or the down button) has always been for passing in the foot of the player, while triangle (or the up button) has always been for a pass through, for a pass into space.
The passing in fifa used to be so dynamic, u used to be able to pass into an open space with x and make the receiver run to the ball, but now, to help people play that cant play defense you cant do that anymore, not like how you used to, now, a ground pass is directly to your teammates who loooooove to stand behind opposing players, how many times have u seen a player open and as soon as you touch the pass button, in explicably, he moves, right behind a defender and now you just gave up an interception that the opponent didnt even have to work for lol
Good examples, good work. The game is very inconsistent and it's good to have such documentation of it. Very funny that there are still people defending this, I don't have slightest of clue how their brain works
respect for this man,u ve said it all...i stopped playing cuz of fifa bs....scripted shit + passing &/defending stuff...its jus annoying...when ur choices dont matter...it really is not about losing game...i ve been so many times in a situation where m winning but being pissed cuz of fifa bs...✌️
Ive been driving myself fucken insane trying to figure out if I suck at passing now or its just inconsistent. Thank you for the clarity and the amazing content, this game is laughable.
This is so true that now when it happens, I just smile. I tell myself that it’s just a game and that I’m just trying to pass time and distract myself. Otherwise, I’d get a coronary.
I agree with you BUT there is one thing you miss though that many people dont know about.. in this fifa for example the high deep pass ( l1 triangle ) will be only given perfectly when the timing is right. This means you have to give the pass when you are on the same line as your opponent and are able to run him out, if you give the pass to early ( this was possible in fifa 20 ) now you wont get it right. Same thing with cross balls from the side, many people complain it doesnt work, so I tell them, try to time it right, keep an eye on the guy you want to pass it to! Same with the passing system, if you want to avoid those stupid passes.. look at the movement of your player, if he runs forward.. time it right with traingle and wait for him to walk side by side or wait till he stops running again and press X, all timing!!
@@tfth_stojanoski8321 don't know what you talking about but outrun means when they start at the same place in the pitch but one has more speed and outpace him rather, this scenario is impossible in real life with the 2 players mentioned cuz of age and also Mendys speed advantage
This is so true. I taught i was playing really bad because i cant get a pass in this game everything goes wrong. This is a joke. Thanks for puting this out here man.
I agree with you brother, people who play fifa since the begining of times know better, I'm 34 years old and I've played almost every single fifa in my lifetime, and the last fifa disappointed me over and over again.
Same thing happened to me this week and everyone was shocked when I conceded five goals to one. I have been a pes gamer and everyone knows I'm very excellent at tackling and defense so they were all shocked. Now I know it wasn't my fault
Fifa 10 - 12 was probably the best era. Each was quite a different playing experience to the other. Fifa 10, ping pong passing with really fast gameplay. Fifa 11, pace and crossing ruled the day. Fifa 12, total revamp of the defending system making the learning curve a crushing grind.
100% agree. So frustrating. I am really good at anticipating passes. In previous fifa games interceptions was one of my strong suits. Now I almost never get interceptions. I play cam and pride myself on being unselfish and being the assist man. However in this addition not so much. Trying to do through balls into space often ends in me doing a dink little layoff pass to a player running up behind me instead of the open space that I aim at.
Couldn’t agree with this guy more, I’ve been playing fifa since 96, this game takes over and makes decisions for you, passes to offside players regardless of which way you hold the joystick. It’s never been so frustrating.
I mostly agree with this. One exception: in modern football it's often not desirable anymore to pass straight into your team mate's feet. To accelerate your game, you should pass at him on the side you want this second player to pass the next pass to. That way, less time is lost on receiving and controlling the ball. So someone would not be entirely wrong, if stating that the old system with one pass into one's feet and one pass into one's running path is obsolete (or at least not all-embracing).
Power to you. I totally agree with your analysis and I hate the game does not reward soccer knowledge in defense or attack. Another issue I noticed constantly is with the players with stupid slim arms in career mode. Thanks for the content.
@@jeremymcginge9768 exactly why when people ask about scripting EA deny anything about scripting. Yes because it's the wrong word maybe ask EA about adaptive difficulty see what they say then.
For me defending is broken as well. I can count on two hands the number of clean sheets I've had across hundreds of games. And I'm not bad at defending either. I'm not Van Dijk, but I'm solid in defense. That is until FIFA 21.
Same thing too happened to me just this week. I have been a pes gamer all my life and never liked FIFA. Everyone knows that when it comes to defending and tackling, I'm a pro but everyone was shocked when I conceded five goals to one in FIFA. Now I know it wasn't my fault.
Me too bro. I lean on defensive style and always make sure not to give away goals rather than scoring goals but this game turns me upside down. I'm always good at making star players or stricker and make them useless but in this game i can't do that anymore. Now I know why.
Same for me, I was always very good with timing on defense specially, since the Winning Eleven days, started playing FIFA 21 last week and just can't defend shit, the play without ball feels terrible.
Bro you are totaly right, thats why you sometimes feel like its the first time you play fifa even if you have some good hours played.. Thats what makes this game so frustrating to play and i hope EA will make some sense and change this.
Just found this vid, everything you say is 100% right, even friends have given up playing it because of this shit. I've always said it seems cpu has the control over your choices whether assist is on or not. For me personally I can never get a cross right, no matter where I aim it either goes to the keeper or ridiculously back towards halfway line.
Passing as well as finishing (at times) is super weird in this game. I believe that EA in both instances programmed it in a way that it takes the ratings of the players, based on the input and the positioning of the players it calculates the outcome and then matches the animations to that outcome. So basically: Input->outcome->animations this is also why this game is an animation hell, almost any goal you see the ball glitches through legs, feet, sometimes even the upper body. The hit boxes of the player only apply when the calculated outcome needs it to apply. This also applies for defenders locking on to balls and not doing so in a lot of instances As for passing, it is no secret that this pass assistance is to help "level the playing field" for new and not so good players, because otherwise they'd get intercepted a ton. Also it's to gloss over the poor attacking AI, because if your passes get to the players you want to pass them to, less people notice that the runs from the attackers are bad :)
Yup. Played FIFA 20 last year after I hadn't played since FIFA 14. I was stressed after every game and realized the games are scripted. Sold my console after 4 months. SMH
As far as i know, if you shoot for a goal and the keeper deflects it, but your teamplayer was offside and catches it, it doesn't count as offside, since it wasn't direclty played towards him. Yet Fifa often counts it as offside. It would be if i would hit the bar or post and it reflects towards him, but not if the enemy keeper was on it.
I can live with all this. What I hate is when the ball is "supposed" to be going to a player and the AI insists they try to receive it in a certain way. You can see it will be intercepted or your path will be blocked if you pick it up where the AI wants you to, so you try to sprint or change direction to pick it up in a different place and it just won't work.
hey man i love ur videos. i had just sold my ps3 and fifa 13 to buy a ps4 and fifa 21 but there was just something off about fifa 21. and after seeing ur videos, i realized. what latest fifa game would be the best to buy at the moment? And do u think fifa 22 will be an improvement?
This isn't a new problem IMO. Playing with the assists, the game has to guess what you're expecting to happen. 9/10 times it gets it right (or close enough) but it's not perfect, and the times it gets it wrong can be really frustrating. My friend and I play a co-op career every year. We've been doing it for years. Around FIFA 15 we decided we were fed up with all the occasions in a game when a pass would go wrong and we were holding the pad out at each other saying "I tried to pass to you, look I'm pointing the stick right at your guy". We were unsure if we did something wrong, or if the game misinterpreted what we were wanting. We switched to fully manual passing and shooting so it removed any doubt and at least when it went wrong we KNEW it was our error and can just say "Sorry man, I messed up that pass". It took a few games to get used to but we've been playing on full manual settings for 5/6 years now. It's much more fun, we've never looked back. You can ping the ball into areas of space wherever you want to on the pitch without limitation, so it opens up many more possibilities. It does what you want it to every time so there's no more frustration at misinterpreted inputs. And when you string a passing move together and score a great goal, the reward you feel is 10x more than you feel on the automatic settings. If you've got the patience to get through the first few games where you'll be putting every other pass into touch, I'd really recommend giving the manual settings a go.
@@jamesneely541 as John said, it takes practice, I recommend shots be set to semi assisted and crosses, you will need to adjust controller sensitivity might be an issue 😂🎮. But with practice you will start winning/losing balls you've never even dreamed happening with full assisted mode. The game becomes a bit more physical (which it's meant to be) And not 98% effective passes, ufffff through Balls leave them manual, once you score a goal with a through ball that you precisely measured is really satisfying! Good luck! Edit: by going full manual you automatically remove the arcady shitty aspect of the game. You should also level the plain by setting the AI settings to a leveled field. There are tons of RU-vid videos explaining how to make the AI more prone to errors by tweaking the difficulty, I'm currently playing it at the hardest mode with tweaks, it really really makes the game play way much enjoyable and "realistic". ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bj4RCyGRGJ4.html One link with adjusting sliders, you can always change the difficulty to a manageable one until you get used to manual.
i never played FIFA but this weird thing also happens in PES, another example is in Become a Legend mode in PES, when a loose ball is flying over me, although the ball is high and fast and ended up being closer to the farther rear teammate, me who was in the front would chase it automatically as if "the ball is meant to land on my foot", and the rear mate whose closer to the ball just stay still ignoring the ball.
As some people said: it's been like this for years. Is impossible even in offline matches. You can't defend some time. And then you have to add a bad matchmaking Goodbye fifa 21, hello pes 22 Because if we keep spending money on FUT, EA will remain happy and nothing will change
