absolute outstanding video, and as a avid fifa fan that gets fustrated and can never pin point the true reasons other than blame delay as to why i hate this game, i think this is up there if not the main reason.. watching my strikers just stand behind a defender for 90mins is infuriating, but i always blame delay.
I agree with you for the most part. However, all that can change once DDA kicks in. For instance you see how in the fifa 20 map everything is stagnant? The same way I if you are dominating someone and dda kicks in their favor, they can put down their controller and you'll see their players are very active in the map irregardless. They are man making, chasing players, even auto tackling. Essentially EA takes out normal behavior and play from the game and allows user to achieve them based on what's happening during the match. If you are dominating, the algorithm can pick up on it and change the team's behavior, which involves speed, football logic, runs into space, accuracy etc...If someone is losing they algorithm buff those stats and sliders for the user, to the point the person can put down their controller and you are inside their box and still can't get a shot.

@C-L-k tbf they did a better job with the whole pace thing in FIFA 20. You can actually ran past opponents when you have the ball now. Don't get me wrong, it's still bad, but nowhere near as bad as the previous FIFA's when it comes to pace
I'm surprised you think that way. It's pretty easy to defend in this and the point is given in the video. The AI in offence is stupid. They don't make any effort to free themselves up. Which is why I have a lot of 1-0 victories. This is much more evident in pro clubs. When a team scores, especially in the higher divisions, it's almost impossible to get a goal back. Shittiest FIFA by far.
Then it just means you are bad at defending. I defend pretty well against AI and against others. Can beat legendary without conceding. I have never conceded more than 3 goals in a match.
Defending in the game is more challenging but doable. I really enjoy it for the most part. There are some of the old defending problems as always but defending in FIFA 20 require skill and discipline which is a fun challenge to me

Actually most people i know like me while been playing since fifa world cup 98, all wait until it hits the EA access. I just started fifa 20 like 2 months ago. Still frustrated and I've maybe spent 14 bucks for a few starter packs. Which I normally do anyways. Highest value card I got was a Liverpool CL bench player that I don't even think Actually made the pool CL squad list. I'm not infuriated anymore on spending 60+ on a busted game. I'm infuriated now, because its practically insulting to anyone who played this game in real life. EA honestly might be on the brink of collapse if they don't fix their shit. From the looks of madden 21 a game they promised would address issues brought up by the fan base. Its not looking like they've made any effort to change. Madden 21 sounds beyond broken. Fifa 21 looks like its going to be the same. And if the game doesn't improve from its beta. Which was god awful. Then it's going to be interesting to see what happens. They lost PGA one of their staple franchises. They could easily lose fifa. People from madden are taking about a petition to break up EA and its control over NFL rights. With the following FIFA has it wouldn't shock me one bit if fans either boycott or petition as well.

What happened to actually having to bring your own gk out if you feel a through ball is overhit instead the gk always runs out by himself if he can get the ball first (another example of reduced skill gap) What happened to pretend cut inside and go outside with wingers , getting into the box pass across the keeper , they made this so hard to do because poor fifa players fall for this trick every single time. So they make simple skills to change direction harder to work properly, they make defenders agility and deceleration in these scenarios so overpowered plus when you pass across goal you have to pray your opponents AI doesnt stick a leg out and auto clear the ball.

I agree with you completely. However, I don’t think next FIFA is going to change much, this type of gameplay where defensive AI is op and attacking is garbage makes the game a lot more pay to win which ultimately benefits EA.

I've been following FUT since it's inception. They spent all the time in the world trying to end the FUT coin buying market out of game, when they should've just allowed people to buy fifa coin in game. Not fifa points, fifa coin. I should be able to drop a 20 or a 40 to get a loot chest of coin. So I can go out and buy a ronaldo. either way they're still making money, only the consumer get some actual satisfaction.
Yeah I gave up ultimate team when they started giving out special cards for everything like Madden. Plus the many defensive glitches just made online 1on1 modes a game of russian roulette where you're waiting for a defender's tackle to just phase through his opponent. I realized all I want from FIFA is an 06 era career mode but it'll never happen. I've been playing PES ever since.

YES!! I used to always score headers in other fifas so I would cross the ball and get a goal 15 percent of the time but now it’s like 5 percent it’s impossible unless they are wide open

I remember playing FIFA 17. I was 14 years old and had a really average team, but I was able to compete in Division 5/6 (back when we had seasons). Not excellent, I know, but I had fun even when losing, especially when I used Fut Birthday Adrian Ramos, whipping in crosses which he usually headed in. I really miss this. Since FIFA 19, I feel like the game and its community is pure toxicity. Really sad, actually.
Out of Nostalgia, I just went to look at some of the cards I used to love in FIFA 17 on Futhead, and looked at the comments. No toxicity and people complaining that "hE iS oNlY 3 StAr WeAk FoOt", but mainly positivity. I think we'll never have this kind of mentality amongst the community ever again tbh.
much more realistic, yes. is it more fun though? at least for me it isn't, but you sure need to get used to it first to be able to enjoy it. definitely a better game than fifa, no doubt, but there are pros and cons to both games, some parts of fifa are more fun or more interactive than pes and the other way around. also, remember that realism is not always a priority. for example gran turismo is a much better racing simulator than need for speed, however none of my friends want to play it because they don't have enough patience or enthusiasm to learn how to play it, at the same time all of them would play need for speed for at least half an hour.

Unfortunately the difference between what we have now and a well-designed game is the horde of defensive 14 year olds who: 1. Worship professional pack openers 2. Think that they'll become the next Tekks 3. Only know this current generation of shitty EA sports games (Madden has very similar issues) They don't have the patience to not buy the game in September when they know it will be broken, or not buy packs, and they're way too psychologically attached to the game to expect better from it

Mate you are absolutely right to everything. Let me add this...Actually, when dynamic difficulty is by your side your teammates create runs like crazy, when is by other side you are just trying to find out what is wrong (the opponent does party at that time of course). I wanna say that there is "result handling" by when the game decides who is going to be the winner triggers extra teammate runs. For people they don't believe just capture a game that you felt nice and watch the "no triggered behavior of your teammates", then capture a game that you feel that was not enjoyable and compare the attacking attitude of your teammates (everyone is standing and watching and the triggered run seems delayed). This is the first thing that they MUST change, 2nd is ... or remove packs or increase pack weight DRAMATICALLY, meaning give great players to gamers to enjoy team rotation style and be able to achieve EASILY the most "gameplay pleasurable" players of the game. For example, WE pay FULL price for this game so WHY, WHY, WHY you shouldn't be able to feel how is to OWN (let the draft case down) a Gullit or a Ronaldo or at least a Dalglish or Eusebio. Like so we can send the message to EA.

You know why that was done, right? It condenses the skill gap, makes the game more simplistic to play. All they care about is making the game as casual as possible, to increase microtransactions sales. Forget about the franchise, it's only going one way, each new game will be more simplistic than the last.

The stationary clip part is spot on. There’s too many times where I’m trying to attack or build one and I just have players standing still and walking so it’s so easy to defend and mark them.

That's just the way I was telling my friend this game has changed so much. I remember playing FIFA 17, using offensive midfielders and the would get to the box and attack the available space. In this year's game, it's impossible or almost impossible to have a cm/cdm to attack the space and do a goal from just a surprise. The game is predictable, boring and frustrating. It's amazing how players like 96 immobile feels so much worse than an 87 Ben yedder, its shit. There is no passion, you don't have the excitement of trying different players, because if you don't stick to the meta you are getting hammered. I remember playing FIFA 16 been in Division 1 and winning it a lot of times due to the dynamic attack and defence you could have. Now, as you say the only way to press is with the fucking dynamic tactics, I could even say that even losing in old fifas, could be satisfactory in comparison to today's game loses. Because, you could see sometimes how amazing was to put under pressure your rival, and just enjoying the game having such an enthusiastic experience

In ut rivals.. Div 8 feels like div 4 and the amount of momentum and bs unfair chances my opponents gets just baffles me completely and made me questions ea’s bullshitness soo much.. Also don’t even get me started on how I face div 1-3 players with their expensive icons like Gullit, vieira in div 8..I mean my team is good but nowhere near to the quality of those teams

This is a crazy good video. I remember playing all the fifas and i stopped enjoying it at fifa 18 and i thought i just out grew the game since i was omw to college. But this video made me realize why i dont enjoy it. I remember when fullbacks used to make big overlapping runs for big lobbed through balls across the pitch, but now in fifa 20 theres loads of space to run into and they dont do anything
The game looks so goofy when you play from kick off or something and the only players that move out of their starting formation are the passer and the receiver, all the others literally stood like a statue

Edit: In fifa 17 when you lose to a good player you can feel how good he is due to his skill in marking the runs your players making and how he beat your defenders In 20 you don't know if the guy who beat you is a good player or bad player because everyone play the same game(drop back, 1 depth, team press, counter attack, punt the ball forward and pray the deflictions go your way)
I remember my struggles in fifa 17 was to time my passes accurately because everyone was making amazing runs...in fifa 20 simple 1-2 passing doesn't exist I have to back to the cdms to waste time to beg someone to make one run... pathetic!
This is such an amazing piece of analysis, big up man. The general theme that people had all year was that defensive AI was what was being boosted every iteration. But the reality turns out to be that offensive AI has basically been removed to make it seem like there have been huge improvements in the game. It's almost like a half baked product that the coders were so crunched on time working on the 50-50 moments that they could not figure out the appropriate changes in defensive AI and so as a last resort to counter that and make it seem like a new product, they dumbed down offensive AI.
Bro, this is the best Fifa video i have seen, it exposes EA's laughable gameplay in Fifa20, and explains why there are soooo many custom tactics/formations videos uploaded every day! People are trying to figure out how to actually make the players move. I used to enjoy making videos on Fifa, now i have to force myself to play, its just not fun anymore. I would pay money to watch the development team to sit down watch this video and try and give explanations as to why the is such a massive difference in gameplay. This is a really good video pointing out the garbage offense AI. Another thing I wanna point out that ruins the game was the heading nerf. Now, don’t get me wrong, I actually love it. Fifa 19 heading was broken and I prefer it this way BUT, headers were a direct counter to drop back. If the opponent is too hard to break down, then crossing is an option. Since it’s no longer a reliable option, drop back is rampant. I think they should keep the heading the way it is EXCEPT when the opponent turns on a drop back tactic, you should get a heading boost to combat that.
Bashz25 A1 i think messi’s agility being viable is more fit for a video game because crossing is hold x and hold b, goal. dribbling to a position to score actually takes ability. but that’s just my opinion on it.

Jamie L well yea, fifa 20 is far over the edge. but the crossing should be less assisted, and if a striker gets his head on the ball it should be more accurate.
Nerfed heading was one of the dumbest ideas ever. Of course it shouldn't be as OP as it was in FIFA 14 or 19 but God dammit headers should go in if they're well executed. At least you should be able to hit it on target

I used to be a FIFA creator, like 2 years ago...I was known for really attacking and creative play, high pressure quick reaction football that was pretty nice to watch (online and career mode). I posted a video saying id come back for FIFA 20....1 month in i realized unless i want to create the most boring and repetitive game play footage possible ii need to revert my decision.... needless to say i have not uploaded any content on FIFA 20. i mean as amazingly easy on the eye dragback,dragback, dragback, dragback, dragback, dragback, dragback, dragback, dragback, dragback, dragback, ball roll near post goals are, i figured after 10,000 of those my audience may get a tad bored....
I agree with you, I only watch a pro hungarian player & streamer, how can show to the community a nice gameplay, with 5* skill moves, otherwise is so boring the gameplay, the WL is horrible with no skill meta kids, 5*wf, far corner shots, glitching etc.
i didn't, it's all on my cchannel already :D Like I mentioned though, I wanted to focus purely on gameplay, and this aspect of gameplay is not necessarily the most important in terms of competitiveness, but i think it is in terms of fun. Impossible to have fun with dead team mates who don't move, and in a game where the best way to press is to let the CPU do it.
when i play the game with my friends, i often complain " damn, they dont move, i dribble and the rest just watching, no support, no movement and at the end get tackled"... Especially LM - RM positions... even i select "come short & cut inside" they just stop by the line... I thought my tactics was the problem... now i get it. Thanks for the video !

Did fifa drinking game in 2016 with my friend with Vodka. Every goal, foul, corner, free throw, free kick you got punished by one shot. Goal outside 16m was like 3 shots, freekick 5, my friend scored freekick from 40 meters and i have to drink 20 shots. I was 0-2 down half time (7min halves) and i lost my vision. I could only see green screen in tv, nothing else. Next time we changed Vodka to beer😂

Nailed it. This the most insightful and knowledgeable Fifa content out there. You have managed to show in detail with clear examples what I have only managed to express with anger with the direction the game has decided to go in. Fifa 17 is so organic the improvement to offensive a.i. also allows the defensive a.i. to be more reactive, the whole game flows better than the clunky predictable gameplay we have seen in recent editions. Fighting against the game is not a skill gap I enjoy, much rather players have freedom and be judged on a more reactive skill set.
I guess that the most dynamic movement that FIFA has ever gotten was around FIFA 13/14 with Borussia Dortmund. I remember playing with them and having an option to pass the ball ALL the time back in those days.

True bro i was thinking why i was soo good in fifa 18 and i was a division 1 player in fifa 18, i skipped fifa 19 and i started fifa 20 but in fifa 20 when i started the game i couldn't do anything.. i noticed so many errors made by my defenders, rebounds 45 minute and 90 minute goals ruined it for me.. i was the type of player to see a run made by my players and get the ball to them no matter what.. but i noticed the ai stopped doing that in fifa 20.. rip me I'm now a division 8 player :'(
@@DicemanYT btw, doesn't matter ehat division rank do you have nowadays, they ruined this also, with icon swaps, and lot of hard objectives, and people go in lower divisons to complete than grinding back....this is awful
The Problem is the way of scoring goals. Combinations, passes, dribblings which lead to an 1vs1 vs the goalie should be the situations where you have an 80%chance to score a goal. Instead we have stupid, non skill based drag bag/turnaround in front of goal and shoot from every angle with meta players to have a high chance of scoring.
I've been saying this for months but a part of me always had that whisper of a doubt that it was just me and i was making excuses for not being good enough...very nice to see this video, albeit after i have already stopped playing the game. but its great to have such clear examples of the shit I've been boring my friends with for months with my rants
It's funny because they call it a skill gap but the only people who benefit from this are the low IQ players. They game is constantly cheating in their favor and their egos refuse to allow them to believe that it isn't them that's doing good. This is actually prevalent in many games nowadays. It creates mental stagnation due to people never having to get better to see positive results. In my opinion it's a microcosm of the modern world we live in. Convice dumb people they are already smart and skilled so that they never actually improve.
That’s actually amazing you’re saying this cuz I’ve been telling my friends for months that fifa 17 was by far the best fifa in terms of pure gameplay and how it felt yet I couldn’t explain exactly why. The precision dribbling and the ground shots I thought were awesome and I wish they brought them back as well. Being able to collect the ball while approaching 2 defending closing in on you fast from some kind of team press and using an extremely tight dribble to squeeze through them quickly just felt awesome and deserved. Ground shots were always a reasonable go to when AI’s were blocking too many shots. The ground shot more often then not fit your shots underneath and past opposing players outstretched legs and torsos allowing you to actually feel like you’re being rewarded for adjusting to the opposing teams defense.
Thank you for presenting what I've thought about Fifa 20 since it came out. At first I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but you hit the nail on the head. I'm someone who relies on quick intelligent movement to break teams down with quick passing, and Fifa 20 has nearly finished off that style of play. There's so many matches where I just find the movement to be so uncoordinated and basic that I lose interest in playing, and you just come up against someone that is happy to sit back and counter with pacy wingers knowing you can't break them down and they rack up a scoreline that you know doesn't reflect the true skill gap
Ik nobody is gonna read this but i was bored of warzone and had decided to play fifa for the first time in months. Honestly, i tried my absolute hardest to avoid FUT but I couldn't since every other mode in this game is disgraceful and unplayable. I hope on FUT and long story short, every team i played against is at least a 190 and despite me being better skill wise than all of the, i managed to get relegated from division 4 to nearly division 9. Basically, if ur not gonna invest neither all your time or money into this game, you are unable to play. Simple.
That’s just me i bought the game cause it’s now like €10 again because I lost my disc, and literally every player I played against in div 5 was so shit but all the tots with 95+ stats on everything is just mad. It was just better when we all had a shit silver/gold team in fifa 13/14
Excellent video! You've just found the problems that I couldn't describe. I've played many hundreds of hours with 11, 13, 14, 16 from the 'more modern' games, and I think the biggest diffrence between a FIFA 16 and a FIFA 20 game is that I'm not at control anymore. As you said in the video, pressing was an art back in the day. Not just pressing, but defending itself as well. Also in FIFA 16 I was able to play out from the back even with a lower tier team, because there were a great amount of player movements and the pass went the way I wanted. Don't get me wrong, there were mistakes as well but those were literal mistakes, not AI generated 'mistakes'. If YOU made a mistake by waiting for a ball to come, or just chosing a wrong man for a pass, you were punished for YOUR mistake. Now the gameplay decides if your pass will be executed well or not. Also in terms of attacking in FIFA 16 I was able to use SOOO MANY tacticts that were efficient. For example I always played with Man City and I prefered the 4-3-3 line-ups. I could use the wider formation to make my CMs to exploit the halfspaces, or to make run-ups with my fullbacks with a more narrow 4-3-3 (4-3-2-1). But apart from these I could use a 4-1-4-1 or some kind of 4-2-3-1 with more or less the same result. The most important part of a winning team were you, who played the game. In FIFA 20 apart from the narrow 4-3-3 (4-3-2-1) almost all of the formations are worthless (for me at least). The players just won't make runs, you have no dynamic pass options. If you add the fact that there are a plenty of scripted scenarios when you are basically out of control, it's not surprising if the players are disappointed. Back in the day you could edit formations, there was a quite big amount of possibilities to form every position exactly as you wished. Now you have like three options to decide what mentality should the player follow. In my opinion this is also one more evidence that the control is taken out of the player's hand, and it is given to the game engine. And finally if I look at a gameplay from FIFA 18 onwards, the whole thing just doesn't look good. The players are sliding on the pitch, the ball movement is so unrealistic.This new game engine is just a completely wrong way. FIFA 16 (PC version) felt like heaven compared to the new ones. I mean there are some important improvements in FIFA 20 like in career mode the AI uses its strongest team if it can, or the more consistent AI teams during a league season, but the gameplay itself is such a big downgrade. It is so bad that I decided to put down the game and look for something else. Hopefully, one day they will do something about it.

Bro I been feeling same exact way Fifa 20 is like a movie I watched 1000times and its so stactic and imo least fun football game is history along with 19 . 17 and 18 to me was amazing for fluidid games and I liked to say the Football mind felt at home more . Now I'm playing same player over and over no learning and team press is a joke
I've never found it so hard to enjoy a fifa as I have with fifa 20, genuinely must have about 50 hours over the whole year and a fair chunk if that is volta. This is a great outline of what I feel when I play. Nice vid
Man I've been feeling like this for years now, I grew up playing football and football games with my brothers and we start feeling weird about fifa a few years ago at the point of no playing it anymore. We agree that something had changed and the game suck, but I could never put it into words and explain it like you just did, EXCELLENT work man. I hope they fix it someday and we could get back to enjoy FIFA, it's bad feeling when you can't enjoy anymore a game that you basically grew up with. EA pls give us back our childhood
The whole FIFA I experienced this, but I couldn't lay a finger on it. After seeing this, I can't play any game of FIFA anymore. This weekend I finished Silver 1, because the gameplay was SOOO boring and annoying. Squad Battles is the only game mode that is a little bit of fun. I really wanted that Gueye objective, but I can't manage myself to do it (even when I have red 93 Neymar). I just can't attack.
@@josuevelasquez24 I know. It's just disgusting. Only facing the same, boring, meta squads 24/7.. Back in FIFA 15 or something, I had a Turkish League squad. Muslera 83, Koybasi 73 (a ** silver card who was my best defender), Skrtel 81, Chedjou 82, Gönul 79, Hutchinson 80, Özyakup 81, N'Doye 77, Podolski 81, Eto'o 83/Van Persie 83 and Sow 78/Quaresma 83. The whole year I played with this team (and with upgrades like if Quaresma, Sow, etc). I really enjoyed it. I can remember I named my attack Eto'SowDolski (like MSN & MFS). But now you just HAVE TO USE players with 5☆ weak foot and skills, because otherwise you're too predictable. And that's only because the attacking AI movements is so terrible. Hoping it will become better one year, but I don't expect that to happen.. unfortunaly..
@@rubenboullart8340 Same man, i was hoping to get Elite for the first time this fifa as i was getting gold 1 consistently last fifa but somehow it seems i have got worse :(. If it isnt for connectivity issues or 45min-90min or extra time goals i most definately could have reached elite by now but im just sat in gold 3.

@@lolsucks3599 What was the last good fifa? I played since before 2000 and i cant tell. I know that i started hating it in 18, then 19 was worse and now 20 is maybe not as buggy as 19 but soooooooooooo boring.
@Italian Stallion, I've discovered too in FIFA 19 too... It got me on my nerves to see that. Other thing I've notice is the attackers are most of the time too late while you just hold the ball (not running), they're not trying to run... If you give them a pass through they're late... If you try to move and give the pass, the ball will be like something that has been accelerated itself (even if it the button was not pressed hard) and the ball goes right to the keeper or other defender...
I knew something was off when I first played 20 but I never could pin down what it was. It just felt so slow and boring. BUT NOW YOU'VE SOLVED IT. Thanks for your work on this
Can't pretend I have much to add. Thank you for pointing this out, I wonder what their thought process was when they changed this. Also, I know your thing is passing and movement, but has anyone in the community taken a look at how the nerfing of skill moves (against the AI defenders specifically) has impacted the game? I know it's niche, I'm just personally interested.
There are some really great points here. FIFA is in a pretty bad place... The only thing that keeps me playing is making a series around Pulisic for my channel.
3 minutes into the video and you have earned a subscriber. I was well impressed; I feel like someone finally understands my frustrations, yes it's cool to have the complementary option of moving players yourself and have them make runs, however movement off the ball, without you the player initiating it, is of the utmost importance and that is lacking in this game. On some crazy of chance that the A.I. does make a run, often times it's the bloody wrong one 😭

I knew there was no offensive movement in fifa 20, everyone just stands and watches the ball unless specifically triggered to move. Takes all the fun out of fifa, making the game very slow, unexciting and just shitty.

Wow! The reason why I wasn’t doing well in Fifa 20 was exactly this reason. Players don’t move naturally. They have to be controlled and they move only in linear pattern which is easy to pin down. Wow! Simply amazing video! Blown my mind!! Now I can be less angry at my skills and curse EA more :) thank you for the video!!
