I totally understand what he's talking about. I'm very disappointed with Assassins Creed too, but it's hard to describe the franchise without it sounding totally awesome.
@arkhamcreed4326
@arkhamcreed4326 8 лет назад
+Drace90 It is totally awesome on a conceptual level, the problem is execution. Its a fantastic idea, but suffers poor implementation and is being controlled by a publisher/developer that is more than willing to sacrifice quality to go the yearly sequel cash-grab route of games like Call of Duty. Put Assassin's Creed in the hands of a different developer and a publisher willing to give each game the time it needs to be the best it could be instead of forcing it out the door and the series could be every bit as awesome as it sounds. But unfortunately it's in the hands of Ubisoft...
@Drace90
@Drace90 8 лет назад
Arkham Creed Exactly. The concept is uber awesome. The execution just doesn't do it justice. It's like the new X-Men-movies all over again. -.-
@krombopulos_michael
@krombopulos_michael 8 лет назад
The main problem with it is what Michael said, it just never ends. Most people have fun for at least a few games and even the future conspiracy story was interesting when it felt like it was going somewhere but then it just didn't know when to quit. It comes out every year (usually rushed and buggy) with almost no change to gameplay and it just gets boring.
@arkhamcreed4326
@arkhamcreed4326 8 лет назад
Krombopulos Michael Want to know the best way to get the Assassin's Creed series to end instead of having an endless parade of soulless cash-grab sequels? STOP BUYING THEM DAMN IT!!!!!!! Of course the game isn't going to end; it makes far too much money because everyone who bitches about it never ending keep lining up at GameStop to buy each new installment.
@Drace90
@Drace90 8 лет назад
Arkham Creed Wow, look at this genius with his simple solution to our dilemma. The problem is not the money, but that the story doesn't come forward and the promised climax never comes to pass. If you'd watch a show that has a strong build up but never actually ends, wouldn't you be frustrated, too? We're voicing dissappintment here. How can not buying a game make it less disappointing?

If you're like me, you wouldn't even care if they completely removed the animus from the game and just let the series be what we love: a historic stabbing simulator that lets us climb up on top of really cool architecture and meet dead people.

@deathlegionair
@deathlegionair 8 лет назад
+Fuzzycat Not entirely... I have played COD and Assassins creed for a long time and I will say that yes Assassin's Creed has decreased a little, but it's not as bad or worse than COD, COD has gone to shit. The only reason it still sells so high is cause it has fanboys as dedicated to it as the Halo fans are dedicated to Halo. COD in reality just sucks, the latest game stole it's mechanics from Titanfall, I should know I have Titanfall and played the beta, they used the same mechanics which helped large map battles, put it into a game that's largest map is as big as titanfalls medium maps, and made the mechanic slightly worse by having it work properly only about seventy percent of the time. Oh and the guns just keep getting weaker and weaker and the only selling point now that really matters is the stupid zombies.
@LeinadCasey
@LeinadCasey 8 лет назад
+deathlegionair Just saying, it's your fault for buying every CoD and Assassin's Creed. No one is threatening your life if you don't. Plus from an unbiased standpoint, CoD has very tight gameplay with little to no glitches whereas AC is always riddled with clunky animations and huge amounts of glitches/errors. Also, no one stole from anyone. Titanfall was made by former Infinity Ward employees who had been pushing Activision for a new IP, got rejected, and moved to EA. And, no one type of gameplay is owned. If that was the case, no one can use physics in their games because Half Life did it first. That's just silly. You seem like someone who was burned by CoD because you've bought it every year but that is no ones fault but yours, just like Swaim.
@deathlegionair
@deathlegionair 8 лет назад
LeinadCasey First off, when it comes down to it yes you can use mechanics from other games, but you have to change it a bit, the only change between Titanfall and CoD when it comes to it is that CoD's "parkour" is clunky even though the ability to move in a mixture of vertical and horizontal in a "parkour" manner has been around since Bethesda's Brink which was the most groundbreaking game to get underrated cause the server of the game couldn't handle the amount of people on it, but Titanfall had spiced theres up with jetpacks, the ability to chain jumps alot better and overall improving it and making it feel smooth and altogether different from Brink and other games that used a similar mechanic, but when I took part in the beta for the new CoD game, I played one match and besides other Titanfall players, I was the only one who knew how to make the mechanic work in your advantage..

+Dan Menard Bloodborne, like its "Souls" series siblings, is actually a dark and deep work of art that breaks the mold of the majority of games that like to spoon-feed players their victories and their story narratives. These games actually contain incredibly rich stories, but they are revealed only through careful observation, obscure bits of dialogue, and the descriptions of the items and artifacts that the character finds and utilizes throughout the game. The stories are beautifully compelling and often terrifically tragic, the actions of the player will cause momentous and horrible events to occur but it is not always obvious why without further questioning and exploring. The decisions that lead to such consequences are not merely determined by a "good person dialogue choice" and a "evil person dialogue choice," like in many RPGs. Even the aspect of dying and coming back,and all of the frustration that goes with it in the Souls games (which admittedly will occur frequently if you do not learn how to overcome the obstacles before you) is not just a convenient part of the game-play mechanic like it is in most games. You exist as an undead for a specific reason that is highly relevant to the plot, and your inability to die is actually a curse upon you. The frustration of living in such a ridiculously hostile world, and yet being unable to die, only to be killed again by some other terrible monster from which there is no escape, has actually driven many of the NPCs in the game, completely mad. Countless grand heroes have gone before you in an attempt to end the curse, and all failed, eventually "going hollow" and insane from the sheer frustration of the nightmare in which they and yourself are all trapped. Souls games are a test of willpower. It and only it can allow you to overcome the terrible obstacles that stand between you and perhaps escape the twisted fate that has been thrust upon you. Even meager victories are made so much sweeter because these games make you work for each and every one of them. Bloodborne and the Souls games really aren't for everyone obviously, but in my estimation they are among the most unique, artful, and enjoyable games that I have ever played. If you are interested in learning about some of the stories and lore behind these games, without having to suffer through them yourself, I suggest watching some of the lore videos from youtubers like Silver Mont or the "Prepare to Cry" series by VaatiVidya who do some wonderful in-depth explanations of the stories within the Souls games.

The trick to beating the second "level" of bloodborne is to go grind a bunch in the first main area so you can level up some stats and get some health stuff. Then learn how to lock on, dodge, and use your weapon transformation attacks to destroy your foes.

+Master Markus you say that and I see where you're coming from but you're not taking into account the satisfaction you get from beating a boss who has killed you 50 times plus the combat controls in the souls series (Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Dark Souls 2, Bloodborne) are so good that it ruins other games there are certain fantasy rpgs that I can't play any more namely Diablo 3 and Skyrim because I've been spoiled by how much control Souls games give you. The main point of what I'm saying is put in the time and play a Souls game don't rage quit just stick it out and get a good feel for it you will realise that not only are these games fun they are some of the best video games of all time.
@mastermarkus5307
@mastermarkus5307 8 лет назад
jax pinazza It took me tens of tries to beat some of the harder Shadow of the Colossus time trials and I don't know if "satisfaction" would be the right word for finally beating one or two. As long as I know there's still more to do, I don't really _get_ satisfied. I'll probably try one out if I can get it at a good price, but I think my brain's reward system might be a bit different from that of the general Dark Souls fan.

Hey, at least you have an idea about how it ends. My game spans into multiple platforms in a convoluted storyline that promises to end, but it doesn't and you have no idea what is coming next, only to stretch it out in another chapter where you battle your way just to get that additional piece of relevant story. At least Assassin's Creed isn't Kingdom Hearts. Be thankful.

There are only two ways that will happen: If you take the historical approach and play as a Templar who goes to Japan when Christianity was popular to a degree there and try to stop the killings of worshipers at the hands of the Japanese government with reclusive agents of spies(ninjas) who assist in training you to help protect the people who pray OR You plays as the descendant of a Japanese spy who was sent out to Europe to learn foreign knowledge and later bring it back to Japan as an agent of the government with learned and gained ties to the Assassin's Creed itself to betray the Shogunate in an attempt to try to save the provinces of the poor from the rich who were being taken advantage of in seiges that leads to Nobunaga in a very inaccurate historical representation that may kill the series. Either way, I think the purpose of the series is to show non Japanese ninjas.

If you're looking to beat the second level of Bloodborne (I'm assuming you mean the part after beating the Cleric Beast), what you're going to want to do first is travel to the first lantern at the top of the ladder. Hopefully by now you have already unlocked the shortcut to take that lantern towards the bridge the Cleric Beast fight takes place. If you haven't then load up at the Cleric Beast lantern and open that shortcut. The next step is to either go through or around the house. If you haven't already opened the doors then you'll have to go around the house and fight the two big guys. The best strategy against them is to either shoot them whenever they are about to slam you in order to get the visceral attack, or you can strafe around them and go for the rear attack (one charged attack should put them on one knee and then follow up with a regular attack in order to land a rear visceral attack. If you don't know what a visceral attack is yet that is okay. I didn't know what they were for until my second playthrough.) Now that you've opened the door, go on through the house and head down the stairs until you run into the dogs. Most of them will never come out of there cages, but you'll find two before the bridge, another will attack you from the left side in front of the bridge, and finally there will be one more on the other end of the bridge. At this point you can talk to the old woman who will just yell at you and ask for a safe place to stay. I would suggest just leaving her for now. Next you'll be going down into the sewers, down here you'll find some beasted out hunters. Most of them are pretty strong and pretty fast, but as long as you dodge well enough their all pretty easy. In here you'll find an opportunity for a secret character quest, but you can find details of her all over RU-vid. Her name is Eileen the Crow. She's pretty awesome and I would say the quest rewards are worth looking for her. Anyway, in the sewers you'll find about a dozen of these beast enemies. Just remember to pull only one at a time and you'll be fine. Once you start heading lower into the sewers you'll find rats (totally annoying, but doable. Not like sexy doable. I mean, unless you're in to that. No judgements.) Eventually you'll find a giant ladder that leads back up to the city. Here you should cross the bridge and find a giant guy (like super giant. Holding either a big rock or a corpse.). Kill him and head up the next ladder. In the house at the top of the ladder you can talk to a little girl who asks you to look for her mother and father. Keep talking to her and she'll give you a music box. Equip this box to your items (Trust me. Put equip that thing.) Anyway, go back down into the sewer and continue through until you find some weird enemies that crawl around in the water. Just keep jump attacking and walking backwards and you should be good. Eventually you'll come to a tunnel, don't go down this tunnel. You will die. There should be a ladder to the side of the tunnel. Go up the ladder and you might have to fight some enemies here real quick, but don't go to far up the bridge yet. Near where the ladder was you should find a small building with a switch in it. Step on the little square on the ground and this will open up the elevator that works as a shortcut from the first lantern I mentioned all the way to the bridge. Now that you have an easy way to the bridge, you can kill the enemies in this area, but if you go too far forward on the bridge an enemy will light up a giant ball of straw and through it at you. This thing can kill most of the enemies, but it will also kill you. Finally at the end of the bridge you'll find another large enemy and a beasted hunter with a shield. Just like the big guys earlier, try to strafe around him and slam him in the back. Next you'll be going up a set of stairs. There are two enemies to the right at the top of these stairs. Kill them or run strait to the fog door. I would suggest killing them though. Through the fog door is the second boss fight. He is a pain and has three stages. In stage one he attacks with an axe and shotgun, just like the weapons that a hunter can start with. The shotgun blast can be a real pain, but his range isn't all that great in this form and most of his attacks are majorly telegraphed. If you're having trouble with this fight you can usually just get him stuck on the other side of some tombstones and do jump attacks. This should allow you to jump in for a hit and then back up without taking any damage as long as he doesn't shoot too much. In the second stage of the fight he will extend the length of his axe and it will turn into a two handed weapon. Sometimes he will still be able to shoot you, but for the most part he should only attack with the axe. Be careful here because the range of the axe is pretty far and it can do some pretty heavy damage pretty fast. Again, if you're having trouble, the tombstone trick works here too. The final stage is where things start to get really tricky. Now to start, go ahead and use that music box that I told you to equip. If you use it while he transforms he'll fall to his knees and grab his head. You can use this time to doe some extra damage while he's down. For the rest of this fight he will be a giant werewolf. The tombstone trick no longer works at this point. He'll just crush them and hit you anyway. He can also through you into them so hard that they break. It hurts. Evade as much as you can. Another note, do not back away too much or he will do a big jump attack that does a ton of damage and launches you. The launch will send you far enough for him to do the jump attack again and you might not have time to get away from him after getting launched. For the most part just make sure to stay close to him and as long as you circle around you should be good. If this fight is giving you a lot of trouble you may want to invest in upgrading your weapon or leveling your character. Good luck managing all of this and if you did. CONGRATULATIONS!! Now prepare to get murdered about a thousand more times before you beat the actual game.

Totally agree. The whole series would have been _so_ much better if they left out the the whole all the future/animus/magic/alien stuff and just made it story about a struggle for power between the templars and the assassins.

There's one thing Michael kinda got wrong, after Desmond dies you no longer play as a blood relative. The Templars uses Desmond's DNA to create a new Animus as a gaming system in order for random people to play through Desmond's DNA memories

Mostly, he described the story found within AC2, the one most fans agree is the pinnacle--gameplay wasn't as dully repetitive as the first and the story still held together pretty well. Where it fell apart was in 3. Well, Revelations was a the beginning cracks with Desmond's story taking a sudden and irredeemable turn. But 3 was unable to unable to recover from the twist, plus the "ninja" of the game had almost no personality and yet was somehow (unbelievably so) tied to almost every major event of the American Revolution. By 4 (the Pirate game) the Desmond story was tossed aside and you were given some attempt at a meta story about a game developer being the evil guys. But, what must be experienced first hand is that the stories of each assassin (history ninja) become more and more convoluted and dragged out. The Pirate Ninja Edward Kenway was fun to play. But I honestly can't recall any aspects of his story which I think is because there were just too many disparate elements to it which never really coalesced into a coherent storyline that you could remember. Plus all the assassins (history ninjas) have a somewhat similar arc with similar missions and other characters that despite the colorful coating of historic themes can easily be confused one with the other. Technical bugs and glitches aside (which have largely been corrected) AC Unity is the worst offender for being convoluted. Why anything is happening in that game, I couldn't tell you without rewatching a video of it and taking notes. Even then I can't be sure it'd come together very clearly. But here's the thing. All the stuff that started in AC2 is still pretty compelling. Heck, that's how it sucked in so many fans. And some people keep playing the games hoping to recapture the feel of adventure and intrigue and mystery that was spawned in that game and its immediate sequel, Brotherhood.

The related by blood thing ended with Desmond and when Abstergo made Animi that don't have to be operated by people who are related directly to the characters they're controlling.

AC =Ancient Aliens: The Video Game. When the First Civ was teased at the end of AC1 it was intriguing like AA then the Truth in AC2 made into an awesome conspiracy that was leading to a huge climax. Then the annual releases happened. Now the concept or what tiny fragments are left of it is being slowly dragged out and is just boring as fuck like the actual AA series (which is still running). Like seriously is Juno even doing anything at this point? Oh I can find out what she's doing if I do side missions/collect stuff in Unity _and_ Rouge? How convenient for Ubisoft that I must buy both games.....ARGH THIS SERIES!!

+The Dynast Queen The best part was when they make you play as a office worker who moves very slow and cannot really do anything. They could just ditch the whole animus thing and release basic assassin games that have only 1 main plot that actually has an end. I always hated the parts where you are forced to do some boring talking with uninteresting personalities that you have to thru before you can continue playing, they feel like ads you can't skip. I wonder if there is an adblock for AC?

+Desmundo Connor I've found myself doing that with... well a LOT of AAA games. Plus I can usually choose a commentary (often several) or not. It's kinda sad how badly this has gotten to be reality. Good lord, if someone cut all but the plot important fights out of (say) Final Fantasy 13 and cut all the unimportant side stuff, grinding and inventory management I might watch that, just to see the movie Square-soft clearly wanted to make...
@14loosecannon
@14loosecannon 8 лет назад
+Desmundo Connor I did exactly the same with Rogue, Unity and Syndicate. Until there's a game really worth playing for the story I'm just going to watch the cutscenes on RU-vid (though I heard Syndicate is fairly good)
