I am just sick and tired of people saying "believe them" to a point that it is for sure happened. Believing them is not the solution. We need to instead, believe that they MAY be telling the truth, and treat it seriously. Public opinion takes its sides quickly when the story breaks on the person/people involved -both the accuser(s) and on the accused. Companies take longer for official reports, but internally with employees who know one or both parties involved draw conclusions based on their experience/knowing the person/people involved. The legal system takes the longest in criminal cases with having to prove without a doubt. While civil cases tend to take less time due to decreased necessity in only proving within the framework of more evidence over not. I defenetly agree we should listen then take the steps in finding out the truth whatever that may be. We should support and encourage victims coming forward to the police as that is an issue as well as detouring through legal means of people who falsely accuse as that's also an issue, though to my best knowledge, not as high of a % as real victims not coming forward. I am for harsh punishments for false accusations as they do real harm for and to real victims. The justice system has it's flaws but it's not a broken system as a whole nor broken by the principles/foundation it was set upon. At the end of the day I think I want what most would like. For the guilty to be caught and punished accordingly. For false accusations to stop. For every victim to have the courage to come forward & listened to. For a fair and just trial. And for victims, be it everyday people to celebrities who were assaulted or falsely accused -not to have their lives ruined/run through the mud in their families, friends, media or law.

Also #BelieveAllWomen doesn’t need to be a thing, #YesAllWomen will face some level of harassment in their life, but we are a country of “innocent until proven guilty” and should abide by that. If you’re friend was accused of rape, and you’re not his alibi for the date in question, just keep your mouth shut.

Yea it's such a difficult situation with sexual crimes. We have innocent until proven guilty, but that's easier said than done in a case like this. We know statistically speaking that most cases are correct. We know that if they aren't found guilty because evidence for these kinds of crimes is often very difficult to get, they will likely harm the victim and victimize others. However, at the same time, you can't turn it into a witch hunt. You can't assume guilt. That would be unfair and against our legal system. You have to look at each situation individually. You have to try and be objective, but it is incredibly difficult with this kind of crime. There is just no easy way to deal with accusations of sexual assault.

We don't know that from statistics. We know a small percentage can be proven false in the other cases it's he said she said and anyone of them might be telling the truth and as you know conviction rates aren't high so there is a whole lot of room for many many more false claims. Weird isn't that when talking about false accusations we stick to the facts we have namely 2-4% false yet for total rapes we are willing to embrace the additions of unverifiable data, the dark number of which you should know has no real value in science.

If those peoples stories all check out sure. Don't get me wrong with a case like Cosby even if some of them are unscrupulous gold diggers, I'm highly suspecious of Cosby being innocent. But we can't have a system where if enough people get together than your guilty. If you have evidence that backs your word then I'm down to listen and that's either the accusor or the accused.

I agree, but the last little bit there has me concerned. You’re asking someone to verify a negative. It’s impossible to prove a negative claim such as (extreme example) Sasquatch doesn’t exists, because anyone who believes in it can always say “you just haven’t found it yet”. Same with this. If people are asked to prove that they aren’t rapists, then anyone can easily say “well, we just haven’t found the right evidence yet”. This is why it’s unfortunately necessary to put the burden of proof on the person making the positive claim. If someone claims they’ve been raped it is entirely up to them to show the evidence of said occurrence. I hope this is useful. Sorry for tossing all this at you.

Of course people are innocent until proven guilty, that’s why no one is advocating we should just lock everyone up who’s the cutest. But the court of public opinion is something different. It’s about who you believe and who you think is a liar.

16 people accused Trump of sexual assault and harassment. And Trump bragged about going into the changing room of underage girls from Miss Universe. Many of those girls came forward about how violated they felt when he did that. Idk why people don't believe Trump is a predator.
