Not shocking. When he is at the top and has to go all out on a regular basis, he gets hurt. When he's in less matches and can take it a little easier, he gets hurt less
@@skrilla-702uh...selling comes after the impact. He was on Seth's shoulders and Seth had full control. If this was a female wrestler you would call your own comment "victim blaming". Do you even understand the words you threw here?
It is a crutch. It's like Super saiyan in dragon ball z. If you have it, and it makes you better or more powerful and would lead to doing better in the ring against someone and winning the match, then why not have it all the time? And then, what, are you always supposed to win when he has that persona on? Cos that just adds predictability. And if he loses with Demon status on, then must mean he is shit, since even when doing it, he can't win or guarantee a win.
@OscarASevilla i agree with you except not like DragonBall Z. This is real life. Lol! You have to see it from the performers' perspective. It's just makeup. He can do all the same things with our without it. It's even worse when in New Japan, Kota Ibushi had a bit of a demon mode he switched to during a match with no paint. Lol!
And still he looked/performed like a jobber... So the whole persona became redundant. The point of the alterego was at least to give some sort of "superblost"-character. But when that alterego performs as badly or even worse... just looses. Then that whole "boost" fizzles out very quickly.
To be fair they did kinda bury the demon. They took his extremely special persona who only needed to show up once or twice a year and was supposed to basically be unstoppable and made him lose, I think twice in a row. It should have only popped up at Mania or one of the other big 4 PPVs with him winning if it pops up and Vince just saw it as a toy making machine
He fought Roman who I could understand why he lost but roman didnt rack up the long streak as yet so he could have realistically taken a loss at that point. As for Edge. He should have won that but I understand the concussion thing might have screwed that up
Yeah exactly. The way he lost to Roman was so dumb. And then losing against Edge made no sense and was a big stupid decision imo, specially knowing that he was going to leave the company a few months after that
@@goreyboyz8564 outside of forming bullet club and 3 iwgp Jr title runs when the division was paper thin doesn't make him a legend. I'm not ignorant at all. I just disagree. You assuming based on a single sentence is the true ignorance
@@Kanders190.....So that means watching Undertaker at Wrestlemania sucked because you knew he was guaranteed a win all the time too? Or was it great because he put on amazing matches? But they finally pulled the trigger at the end of his last couple of years and made him lose twice. Balor could do they same with the fans not knowing when it could end.
@@Kanders190 ....Not really, you're obviously not reading what I wrote. The Demon could go on a winning streak making the fans wonder when, who and how he could and might lose, just like the fans wondered if the streak with the Undertaker would go unbroken. No one knew he was going to lose, they thought it would continue until he retired.
He probably retired it because wwe treated him the same when he wore the makeup. It used to be an instant win, now it's an instant lose. Plus all the reasons listed in the video
He should have protected the Demon character like Scott Hall protected the Razor's Edge move. If he wasn't winning, then he should have just refused to use the Demon character. It's a persona he should have brought out only when the odds were stacked against him in a PPV.
@@NOname-bv2jy no shit. It's just about protecting the character and the mythos of it. This is how you build up a character for the main event. Once you lose, that mythos is gone.
I like the idea of that his demon can return in the very high personal stakes , like what happend in his last match versus Edge Makes it pretty special and gives it a different story level elevation
And golddust is just one same color basicly. No artwork etc. And still golddust looks like clown tbf. But golddust has the rest of his gimmick to set him apart from others.
finn being the demon is and will be better than the finn right now. the demon was only their for the demon. now finn with judgement, it wouldnt surprise me if he brought the demon back to go against priest
Finn balor is a wrestling icon he is the founder of bullet club, trained so many wrestlers like Becky etc., second leader of judgement day and many more achievements he truly deserves more respect
It should be treated like something special, and only brought out when the story demands something so intense that Finn MUST become the demon. But they also need to protect the character anytime they use it or it loses it's meaning. Like Foley did with Cactus Jack. The fueds with Triple H and Randy Orton wouldn't have been the same if it was the same Mankind or Mick Foley we'd seen, but the carnage those matches had and the respect given to the character Cactus Jack meant any match with Cactus Jack was gonna be a life or death struggle
Coulda swore I heard it was bc the paint + the sweat made him slick and it was unsafe to work that way… maybe that was something totally different then
Demon should’ve won at mania edge ain’t a real one for not putting over fin . He could’ve said no I want fin to have his mania moment but no edge beat him in hell in a cell and jumped ship now we know all those years of criticizing cena for not putting barret over at summer slam was bs it’s easy for him to say since he was never in that position but given the opportunity we saw he did not change plans to put over a younger talent 😂
The loss still could have done a lot for his character, if they didn't cool him off. Taking a ladder to the head that busted him open was accidental, but there was so much they could have done with it that they didn't do. I agree that he should have won, but since they went the other way, they didn't even capitalise on it.
I still remember that video that aired on Raw when Balor came on the main roster....the video in which he introduced the fans to his demon....to the meaning of Balor...it was awesome.
just read the entitlement in the comments. he gave a clear and logical explanation as to why he doesn’t do it just for people to shrug it off and tell him to do it anyway because that’s what YOU want. we’re regressing rapidly daily.
Quite the opposite actually, the faster he drops that kind of crap and finds a real character the better things will be. Him simply being on judgement day has given him his most consistently good run yet. Even he realise this.
@brainthebrian3690 no you dont know what your talking about finn had way more fans and was way more popular as the demon then he ever will without it thats why right now with judgment day he is stuck only doing tag team matches and mid card singles and he loses alot of matches with the demon is how he became the 1st universal champion his best run has and always will be with using the demon part of his character masks and facepaint have always and will always make wrestlers more popular
Yeah no... He got cooled off by Vince for the cardinal Sin of getting injured and even when he got white hot again, while still having the demon mind you, Vince booked him to dress as a pumpkin and shit. His shoddy booking had 0 to do with the demon lol
@GinkgoPete he got big again because of bray wyatt attacking him and everyone wanting the fiend vs the demon this is probably why we didn't get that match and if he would have done it even after a loss it would have boosted him up just like everytime he becomes the demon thats what people want from him is the demon to not do it only hurts his career which is why he is a mid card jobber right now
@@jeffallen4393 See that right there, you're proving mine and his point about it being a crutch, everyone's like "he won't make it without demon", cause everyone thinks normal Finn is bland. No one so far on the main roster has really been impressed with the demon anyway, at first it's shiny and "cool" but no one cares about it after they see it, and only finds it lacking and gimmicky. He needs to be more, again, even Finn realizes this.
I prefer Finn Balor the demon they making him look like a follower in judgement day and still believe they did him dirty after he came back from injury and he had to vacate the title!!
I think he could do some more individual character work with the Demon. Just bring it for PLEs. The thing is…I think he’s just happier doing Judgement Day since he loves doing the group thing to get people over. I mean they have arguably the heel with the most heat in Dom, who was pretty stale as Rey’s son, and they are probably going to ride that heel wave to give Priest a strong face turn, or have their new heel faction on raw. Either way, he’s guaranteed to be on tv. Frankly it makes a lot of sense for the man. Doesn’t stop me from always playing as Demon Finn every time I have time for a video game or two.
Went from beating Roman and Seth and now he’s stuck in the middle of card. Let Finn win the money in the bank and cash in on Damien at one of the big shows and start a rivalry
I really hope that he changes his mind at some point and brings the demon back. I get the reasons to stop doing it, but it’s what I love most about Finn. Even if it’s only like a once per year, major PLE thing.
I get where he's coming from, but the demon is what elevated him to the next level. Yes, he has great in ring skill and can cut promos but the paint added to the look and a wrestlers look is important to their gimmick. I think he could have gotten away with reducing the amount of makeup to like just his face and neck, but I understand why he got rid of it. Goldust, on the other hand, stayed committed to the paint his whole career.
Cause it meant something then. When last did Balor do anything meaningful. He loses 99% of his matches and he's made to look like a loser on TV every week. Look at Mania, bro braught back the demon after how long and well what do you know, he lost. Can't blame him for not wanting to sit through hours of makeup when it'll mean nothing in the end.
In the recent episode of Raw June 17th 2024 during the Judgement day promo in the background you could see a mini red suitcase with the demon logo maybe hinting a surprise return
He took out his most interesting piece of his character and added NOTHING new to his moveset no new finishers just sling blade double stomp pin and people wonder why he's a midcarder now, till he turns on Damian he's stale
That’s like saying the Undertaker gimmick was a crutch for Mark Calaway. If a Gimmick works, then it Works! Balor had amazing matches against world champions as the demon persona, and without it, he’s a grunt in the judgement day
The ring name Finn Balor is an interesting choice. The hero and the fire breathing giant all tied up in one person. A juxtaposition of fates bound together in a heroic Celtic myth...nice
Maybe he could do a fusion of his new and old persona: Keep the same energy from the Demon, but lower the makeup and keep his Judgement Day colors: the Demon Prince
My main problem with "The Demon" was it was mostly still just Balor. He sometimes would fight a little more aggressive, but overall he used his same exact moveset. I would have liked to have seen him use moves and a finisher only The Demon, and make it where The Demon can kick out of finishers easier than Balor himself. I also absolutely hated the head pieces. His body pant personas in NJPW were so much better.
