Bhai Ajit dada Pawar mut mut ke kitne dam bharenge? Trees require water. If there is excess water in the reservoirs surrounding Mumbai, that water will be first pumped to Marathwada or Vidarbha. They will make a pipeline for that. After the water needs of these places are satisfied, then only the remaining water will be used for fancy stuff like rooftop gardens. You surely cannot compare Singapore and Mumbai. Singapore might be self-sufficient on the water. That's why they can afford to spend the remaining amount on such stuff. Granted there are a lot of benefits of having a tree-covered urban area, cooler temperatures, less pollution, buildings look better, and the greenery has good mental effects on the mind. I watched a whole mini-documentary on that. Moreover, Singapore might do it to attract tourists. In reality, this will never be mandated by any government in India. There are a lot of things that might be unfeasible. Unless your government is as stupid as the Californian government here in the USA. The state was going through a drought. The water levels in the lakes were going down. But the golf courses were all lush green. The swimming pools in many houses were filled. Americans use their natural resources as if there is a genie that shits out copious amounts of new supplies every day.

No we can't blame nature ❌ Mumbai can at least manage to stop heavy water flooding. Japan also gets too much rain and even tsunamis but they built giant underground tunnels to divert heavy rain water. You can see how robust Japanese drainage system is. Even Netherlands defeated heavy sea tides by building artificial dams around it's coast. So mumbai at least can get rid of man drowning floods. If the richest city in India with a gdp greater than Pakistan which belongs to a civilization who created the first sophisticated drainage system of human race then it's an utter shame for us

You need to understand one thing, Tokyo is not built on reclaimed land, while Mumbai is built on reclaimed land, if we dig over 10m in Mumbai we find nothing but sea water, so building huge water collection system in Mumbai is would be very expensive, and out government does not have enough money for it. So instead Mumbai relies on Drainage/sewage collection systems. And a series of canals, built in the city, which are usually effective, and only the low lying areas in Dadar and Andheri usually get flooded.

Tokyo, Houston Paris, all these cities have underground water drainage system. They are not reservoirs, they are used to quickly drain the streets, and that water is instantly sent off into the river. They can't store this water, and these cities are not built on reclaimed land, while Mumbai is built on reclaimed land. Which makes is very hard to dig deep water drainage systems.

@@rishabh5610 Matlab kisi ne poocha toh kuch bhi fek deneka na? "people are also very complacent and will always go for cheaper products instead of paying more for better products" This part is absolutely correct. The rest is just bull crap. The products dont fail QC. They are designed cheaply to begin with. They aren't selling defective goods. They are doing cost cutting and selling cheap goods. The reasons: the ones that you gave. They exactly sum up why. I moved to the USA recently from India. I haven't seen any difference in the quality of most of the products. The quality is not much better but the same things are very very expensive. I have that bad habit of knowing the table of 80. So every time, I make a purchase, I convert to USD to INR, and then die inside a little. Coming here the cultural shock was that purchasing habits of people are a lot different than in India. People here look for convenience when getting the job done. People in India just want to get the job done. Add some extra features here and there, used better quality of raw materials while manufacturing and you can sell basically the same product for a markup of 3x to 10x.

@@arc4055 mai wahi bol raha ki MNC india ke liye kam standards rakhti hai compared to developed countries. #MumbaiHack: Mumbai has an excellent drainage system. Flooding happens only when heavy rain coincides with high tide. There is no flooding when there is heavy rain and low tide or light rain and high tide. I always check the tide and venture out only during the low tide timing. The above trick/hack has never failed me; despite severe rains, trains and other modes of transport work fine as long as it's low tide.

Why doesn't Mumbai invest in good weather prediction including top class radars? It was well known that the 2005 flash rain wasn't predicted due to lack of doppler radar in Mumbai. Did we install one? We can easily declare 5 days of RAIN holidays every year in Mumbai (abroad they have snow holidays like this, but they are announced early in morning). As long as by 5AM this is announced, people will not leave their homes to work.

So if BMC plans and works to reduce the impact of flooding, that’ll happen. The problem is exacerbated by incompetence and corruption. This year, BMC said there will be no flooding from monsoons. Day damn 1..there was flooding. Yes, rainfall was high, but it’s not so high that it couldn’t be prevented. Navi Mumbai is better off because of better planning. However, due to corruption and lack of oversight, mangroves are being encroached upon even in Navi Mumbai. So give it time, this too shall pass.

Stop spreading unjust idea, Har city apne rain quantity k hisab se planned hona chahiye, agar RAJASTAN k city me chirapunji jise planned kiya to kya faida, Aise he, agar mumbai me zyada barish hoti hi to, uske hisab se plann karna hoga.

We cant blame nature. We have to deal with the situation, no matter what, and for starters lets stop comparison. There is money and solutions its just people love the misery, & i wont blame the politician coz politicians derive their power from people, so we are responsible for what we face.

Korea flooded because they aren't prepared as they are not used to that level of rainfall. You cannot compare us to them. Don't compare us to Bangalore, I don't think we should be comparing us to other Indian cities rather than comparing us to International Standards. BMC had YEARS to prepare for this. They never do. It's not the same

British were the true pioneers of modern city planning, you would hardly see flooding in south Mumbai which was mostly developed during British raj itself but same can't be said about ever sprawling urban Mumbai which is one of the most horrendous example of city planning on planet earth !!!! British left India with so many amazing things right from world class universities to nation wide railway network and much more but we Indians literally f**ked the whole thing by first blindly following suicidal path of socialism for so many decades after 1947, followed by our ability to beat wild rabbits quite consistently when it comes to reproduction !!!! Even today the bimaru states of f**ked up backward cowbelt of ni continue to breed at speed that would put even wild rabbits to the shame with absolutely no contribution to nation's GDP/development or total tax collected (direct as well as indirect). I would not talk about corruption here as its omnipresent (public as well as private sector) in India. BMC itself is corrupt to the core just like any other state or central gov administrative entity. All this rain water must be conserved in reservoirs, the whole MMR (Mumbai metropolitan region) is facing water scarcity like never before, in March 2023 there was a news that some pvt builder had damaged main pipeline that supply water to Mulund water treatment plant and the whole MMR had to face severe water shortage. Builders continue to build more n more concrete jungles and have gone even beyond Virar now as there is huge housing demand due to ever exploding influx of migrants to MMR from all corners of the country. But the water reservoirs that supply drinking water to MMR remains the same, how can it cater to the need of so many millions ? there is hardly any space in whole MMR to build an artificial reservoir, the regions where rains downpour to its max is already being utilized by British to built those existing reservoirs which continue to provide fresh water to MMR.

I have been telling people about this for very long. BMC can't be fully blamed for flooding. You just can't stop Mumbai from flooding due to its geography.

Mumbai was made by the British to loot Indian goods to Britain and we considered it as a mega city.geographycaly mumbai is at the wrong position to be mega City

Mumbai is such a overrated city. Too overcrowded, narrow roads, heavy traffic,noise pollution, hugh property rates. Government should focus on inner cities like Nagpur, Pune, Bangalore rather than already overcrowded metros.

Tokyo has ample land available for the construction of large reservoirs, while Mumbai faces tight land constraints and has been extensively developed both above and below ground.
@okman9684
@okman9684 Год назад
@@atharvakanade5304 tokyo don't have ample land. Stop spamming nonsense. It's a city surrounded by mountains. Most of the tokyo flood water goes to the nearby edo river not some reservoir. Also tokyo stores its flood water in a giant tank called Kasukabe underground tank. Also it has a large network of tunnels that also stores some water and after the rain stops they pump the water to the edo river with its 78 10MW pumps. There is nothing special in it that mumbai can't replicate

Not sure why you are being so lenient to BMC. Look at Netherlands and see what they have done to prevent flooding from sea water. Clearly heavy rains is something Mumbai has to deal with it and BMC must take all measures to keep it to a minimum.
