On June 17, 2015, self-avowed white supremacist Dylann Roof entered a historic black church in Charleston, South Carolina. With a concealed pistol, he sat through a group Bible study, waiting only until heads were bowed before opening fire. Of the nine congregants killed, three were close relatives of a local chaplain named Sharon Risher. At Dylann’s sentencing, Sharon’s grief and anger were compounded by her sister's public offer of forgiveness. In Sharon’s mind, forgiveness was off the table - until God changed everything.
In this interview with host Eric Huffman, Sharon celebrates the freedom she found in exchanging destructive hate for the love that leads to life. Watch this conversation in full on our main channel!
