What for is that mission? What's the problem with people pronouncing his name differently in another language. City names are spelled differently - and it's no problem. Country names - completely different words ... after all, it's a different language. Don't oberlehrer them unless they ask for it.
@@renameduser466That’s crazy. If we started correcting Germans for their wrong pronunciation of English names, or English in general it would be a long night.
@@renameduser466 I find it crazy that people who earn their living talking about football won't at least try to research how to pronounce the names of the players correctly. Especially of a player who is maybe the best of his generation on his position and one of the most decorated players ever. I also wonder what you would do if someone repeatedly pronounced your name wrong. And it isn't even a difficult name. It's one syllable
@@resathe6760 I agree with this take. Nobody needs any Englishman to pronounce Schlotterbeck or Mittelstädt correctly. Just maybe don't completely butcher the one guy who's among the most decorated players of all time and also incredibly easy to pronounce.
Just to be clear, I don't really believe my own take. Germany look great. But it's funny to imagine Jim doing his best Lee Judges impression as he pressed the upload button this morning.
@@Nicho213007he did a great game. Swiss could have made 2... Germany played bad Yesterday, thats It. If you blame referees (even tho he actually did a good game) you're aint improving
So true. Imagine those manutd fans who said Nagelsman was no good 😂 There is alot of fans who have absolute zero clue about managers or tactics. Really they are just swayed with Good or Bad but no middle where the genius is 😊
I think most important is: its a work in progress. I think this Euros is to early for Germany to go all the way, you can see an idea and clear tatics + the involment in young talent, something that was missing. Nagelsmann is working with this group of players now for 6 months. I think we can expect great things for WC 2026.
Greetings from Germany! I am not that optimistic. We have been talking about "talents" for quite some years. A "talented team" went to Qatar and it was a mess. Kroos won't play in 2026, Gündogan is 33, Füllkrug and Rüdiger are both 31. Young players like Wirtz and Beier are skilled, but these lightweight attackers can be pushed aside easily if there is little space. However, you can have impressive results if players understand and like each other. Let's see how things develop.
I agree, but on the other hand.. There is no team way above their league. England and France could be, but they haven't shown it yet imo. Atm Spain looks like a potential hard opponent, but I wouldn't say they have no chance against them either.
@@Okhaz Maybe, I am too pessimistic about Germany. I don't understand how England wants to play, this looks weird. I am impressed by Belgium, because Romania is really strong. Anyway, I have been watching interesting and entertaining matches, it is on a pretty high level, I think.🙂
People act like Switzerland did something here. 1. The ref was ass. Without the bad calles germany would have won atleast 3-1 2. Switzerland was playing very dirty. Putting every player into defence and playing extremly rough is shamefull
@@Shiddy-vv9xj Switzerland did well with absorbing the pressure and counter tbh. If I was Nagelsmann I would be slightly concerned about how to deal with a similar scenario in the knockout
this italian ref had it out for the Germans, two penalties not given and the goal from Andrich disalowed, come on man. England will have tis ref in the next game and he will be a pain in the ass for you, because he seems like trying to eliminate Italians competition. What an awful ref.
@@segmentsAndCurves Beat Switzerland, not Austria. But they are equally good. Played 1-1 days before the Euros. It wouldn’t be the first time Italy lost that. But we’ll see
Everyone with a brain can see their play against Switzerland was excellent. Attacking against a low block is always difficult, and if Germany set up like Switzerland had it would have ended a 0-0 draw.
It was definitely not excellent. I agree attacking against a low block is hard, but they had no creativity when they were on the ball, and their best chances routinely came on set pieces, mostly from corners. And when they had the ball in their own half, Switzerland won the ball back a ton. They didn't have a good gameplan and didn't adapt to Switzerland's press at all. If Nagelsman is getting out played by Murat Yakin, (the Swiss coach) then there's no shot he stands a chance against teams like France, Spain, and Portugal.
well yesterday they looked a lot like the spain from a while ago: Lots of possession, but against a very well organized , tight defense by a good team they lacked a goal solution. Wasnt even a very high press by Switzerland most of the time, just super tight and disciplined defensive work in their own half. If they had started with two flanking (aka crossing) wingers and Fuellkrug the game might have looked a lot different . At least Nagelsmann recognized it and made the changes - might have done it a bit earlier , though i reckon, but is what it is , eh? I can only imagine how Jim felt with his pre-recorded vid on cue, when he watched the game yesterday^^
If that Andrich goal wouldn't have been taken back there is no way the swiss would have made it. Once teams have to actually play ball instead of parking the bus against germany they are done. I doubt "better" teams like the netherlands, england and especially portugal are a harder matchup for germany then the swiss were.
Thank you for the correct spelling of Rüdiger. But please try to do so with Kroos as well. The double o does not make it a u. Like Bobby Moore who was spelled More. Right? Thank you.
As a german, i think its really funny, that the opinion about the german team got from "well, hopefully they survive the group stage this time" to "theyre the absolute favourites to win the tournament" in like 2-3 weeks.
The way Switzerland broke down Germany was dropping into a low block when Germany had possession higher up, and then pressing relentlessly when Germany had the ball in their own half. I don't think Germany were expecting Switzerland to be so aggressive, and it appeared they didn't have a plan B, and therefore Switzerland won the ball back a ton in Germany's half, and stifled Germany's attack in their own half.
The weird thing to me is that in a way, Switzerland have had this high press/physical style of play every game thus far, did Nagelsman think they were just going to abandon it for this one game?
Switzerland was playing so disrespectful any fan should be ashamed. They should have gotten atleast 10 yellow cards and lost about 3-1. But allas they baught the ref so...
Germany did have a plan B, they only pulled it relatively late though, with Raum, Füllkrug, and Beier (and kind of Sane but I think he played a lesser role in that restructure). The players talked about it as did Nagelsmann
Except they got stopped dead in their tracks last night, barely scraped a tie with Switzerland who are no world beaters. Out in the quarters. They don't make it past Spain.
Kinda, but to be fair exactly the playstyle of those teams were the Achilles heel for the german team before the Euro24. Before the tournament they won with their style already against the Netherlands and France (two of the best teams of the Euro). It is interesting to see what Nagelsmann did against those bulky only playing defense and scoring on the three counterattacks teams without having players with high pace. I mean it is basically the metha in Football since 2018 to play destructiv not constructive being a smaller team. And yes france, spain and portugal played it more beautiful than germany, but only because they had the players for these fast pace deep runs. So it was strong by the players, but a bit of a no brainer on the manager side. This german playstyle is still the smoothest, maybe except spain.
Spain lost 2010 vs Switzerland in groups and didn’t lose a game for 2 tournaments afterwards… So the greatest international squad ever couldn’t beat Switzerland. Wouldn’t that suggest a bad performance vs Switzerland does not mean much in terms of general dominance? They are world rating N. 7, and not without reason. Qualified in every tournament since 2012 and beat some big teams or lost close. Italy wasn’t in the last World Cup because Switzerland knocked them out of qualification btw. Exception is Portugal.
we all knew switzerland was going to be tough. especially for the kind of game germany are playing right now. for that reason i am a bit disappointed nagelsmann s tactic was to just force his players to try to play their game better. for a tactical genius i expected him to adapt. i feel he is treating the euros like friendlies where his players who are inexperienced playing in this formation are exposed to challenges to learn. but i am afraid he is wearing them down. will they have the energy and physical fitness available to go through the knockouts? i wonder.
I think you carry a good point but also consider this. Germany over the last decade has lost their footballing philosophy, their identity was misssing. nagelsmann has built a good system. Truth is you gotta be stubborn at times. Can’t be scared to play your football. They faced a discipline opponent, and if we are being honest, we were 1-0 up without VAR within 16 mins. I feel mentally that disallowed goal disrupted our rhythm, but we still lived in the Swiss half. More clinical, sharper touches game become 2/3-1. This German performance was average at best, our touch and execution was poor, and the Swiss frustrated us. Nagelsmann Stuck to his tactics, made switch’s, and put a direct 9 into the play and got us the goal. I see you points but I think this game was always gonna be tough
@@JoseffNeher Exactly. People forget Switzerland isn’t ranked 7th in the World for no reason. They manage to pull every big team except Portugal to their level and have close games and at least draws. It has happened to better teams. Germany should just hope someone else takes care of Austria and Switzerland. These are the most dangerous to the German playstyle
Forgot when Germany had Brazil for breakfast 7 : 1, because we all havent forgotten how they smoked your ass on your home turf. Embarrassing that was and kinda still is
@@janekmundt579 tão eficiente que a Suíça tem vários títulos mundiais, várias eurocopas. Estou até com medo que a Suíça passe o Brasil como país com mais títulos de copa do mundo.
Schlotterbeck will play for Tah. What's your idea? Bring in another central defender, have Kroos nailed into central positions closer to the opponent's pressing so that their team will be tighter and thus suffocate the german attackers? Gündogan next to Kroos so that the opponent can press with two central forwards who will outrun Rüdiger and that third central defender with no particular need to play outside first? Dangerous idea, your back three, mate.
@@needfoolthings Conte 3-4-3 Musiala - Kai - Sane Mittel/Raum - Gundo - Kroos - Kimmi Nico - Tah - Rudiger Neuer This team will defend by keeping the ball more effectively cuz of Andrich's lack of technical security. Sane gives you speed up front. Swiss blocked out Germany centrally yesterday and a run-in-behind was vital to break em.
@@athreyathandeswaran7510 Your formation lacks defensive stability. Kroos and Gündogan in the midfield line and the formation as a whole staggered in only three lines gives me the heebiejeebies. It might be a plan for breaking down a game late like dundundunduuuuun.... against Switzerland. Raum was the most crucial player and Gündogan was freed up nicely. I fear the worst though if the opponent doesn't just want to control the result like Switzerland did. Spain would sweep Germany in this formation away. Even France and England would if they can control possession. Any team that's good with offensive width and a player like Bruno F. or Pedri or Foden between the lines would.
Insanity😂 everyone in Germany agrees that andrich is a machine. Bc of his looks and robust playstyle, his technique is underrated. And dropping wirtz is the most insane thing I have heard this year😂😂😂the guy would be a ballon d‘or contender, if it weren’t for the Euro league final fail. Whaaaaaaaat
well, that referee wasnt really fair. not giving the first goal because of a "foul" from musiala, but having no prob with the wwe defense from switzerland later in the game. tbh, it really showed, how good they are, because they made the score even.
I usually like your content James but I think you've absolutely lost it here. To suggest that the manager is responsible for the way the team plays is mental 🤣 Germany won't get anywhere with this approach, they need the England way
@DIN_A8 I don't think it was a particularly good game from Germany. They had problems playing out the back and made a lot of mistakes with misplaced passes. They got better though and with their good bench they improved things at the end. Their ability to apply pressure even in a bad game suggests they are still in fact a top team and thats a good thing.
James, I thought you better at bandwagon jumping than this… sure they are good but they will struggle with Spain or France. They will beat England if we face them as our team is picked by headline writers. Please use more than 2 games as context Jim.
Of course they will struggle against France and Spain as every team in the world would, what are you on about? Manager had only half a year with this team btw so it's already very impressive to me how far they've come
