Longboarding is the roots of skateboarding. Period. Skateboards were invented to do 2 things, roll and turn. EVERYTHING after that is just evolution. Now, shortboards (skateboards) have evolved to be ideal for bowl/pool skating and street skating. Longboards have evolved so that the decks, trucks, wheels make the basic premis of skateboarding more functional. Ie. They roll and turn better than ever before. Those that see a difference between the two should get a longboard and get back to basics. Learning how to just cruise,.carve and control your board with style will make you a better skateboarder overall. Quit the hating and skate everything.

Actually longboarding evolved from skateboarding unless your talking about downhill skating which is skateboarding.Decks were really small when they first came out in the 50s and then in the 70s they became ideal for skating pools and then then got really wide and were perfect for vert skating in the 80s and then evetually evolved to modern street skating.I don't know exactly when long boards came out, but they didn't exist when skating first came out, but downhill skating is the roots of skateboarding.Cruising and learning how to balance on your board is really the first thing everyone has to learn even if you become a street skater, vert skater, or a longboarder.

Everyone saying that longoarding is not skateboarding. This in my opinion is stupid I do both and I just call it skateboarding. Skateboarding consists of 3 main components: board, trucks and wheels it does not matter the size or length of the parts you use it's just all skateboarding and yes you can ride a bowl and do crazy tricks in "longboarding" you just haven't seen it in this video so your complaining about it. "Longboarding" isn't only just cruising around and doing cross steps, you can go really fast and do huge slides and all other crazy stuff. People within the skateboarding community which includes longboards that are complaining about "oh longboarding isn't skateboarding" is just really low and well, not cool. Skateboarding which includes longboarding is about having fun and shredding hills, pools, street and park riding. It's all fun and if your taking skateboarding which includes longboards extremely seriously well your doing something wrong have fun with it but in competitions take it seriously but have fun at the same time.

I just started skating in january and I think I improved so much. I used to be super scared to where I never even wanted to set foot on the board. But after 10 months of practice, I can actually go downhill and I'm no longer afraid. All the way from Hawaii, mahalo for reppin girls skating

It's a board and you skate on it. Yes it is skateboarding. Skateboarding can be on a longboard, shortboard, etc. Stop saying it's not skateboarding because you think it's not "hardcore" enough and you wanna look "hardcore" cos you skateboard on a shorter board and do tricks. Shit.

Its not skateboarding, its longboarding. These are two different sports and it doesnt matter if one is more "hardcore" its what you can do, skateboarding involves tricks and alot more balance for rails and ramps. Longboarding is riding down hills and doing slides. You cant categorize longboarding as skateboarding.

Everyone says it's not skateboarding cos it's not "hardcore" enough, I'm not saying it myself. You do the same on skateboard as you do on a longboard, you skate. It's pretty much skateboarding.

RoseYAGMUR Except one involves a much shorter board to do tricks and off stairs and ramps, and the other is cruising with a much longer board and not being able to tricks in the air. So no, its not the same thing.

Skateboarding is doing tricks like ollies and kickflips. Longboard ing is just riding on the ground walking around on your board. They are different and longboarding should not be called skateboarding just because you ride on your board

love the vid ... I skate and surf a lot cuz I live in bali and skating and surfing is one part of my life I skate at a skatepark called donkey and I have lots of friends there and is just sooo fun but the only sad thing is that im the only girl but still fun sometimes after school I go surfing if the waves good .... and nothing will stop my doing skateboard and surf....bali is such a nice place for that kind of stuff I moved in bali when i was 6 and now im 13 .........

When I started skateboarding, my urges to cut went away. I've done whatever I could to avoid cutting, from Wu Tang to smoking, but eventually the urge would return and I would do it again. So yeah but wu tang is awesome with cruising in penny board

try long board trucks and wheels on a regular skate deck. that's what I ride.it takes some getting used to but I skate mine like a regular skateboard but i mostly bomb hills, it's just 3x as fast and 8x smoother, and you haft to tighten the trucks hellas so you dont get wheel bite but its the the best of both worlds!

I started in October when I was 14(now15) and you're realy never to old to learn it or to skate :) If you realy want it and you gonna start doing it, you're going to be a whole other person(in a realy positieve way) :) (sorry for the whole text I just needed to say that ;) )
