Sometimes there are dry seasons within a local parish. However, there are always, always some buds that need you. If you're confident in your faith and you dive into first your parish where God placed you perhaps you can be a little light! On the other hand if you are treading carefully & get upset by so many sinners you will meet versus the joy of Christ in the most kind of quiet, perhaps at times so not over the top they've stopped... Then perhaps a good Dominican retreat, followed by quiet time in front of the Blessed Eucharist - even 5 mins to say 'Hello' gives infinitely more than that tiny moment. Don't get caught up in Liturgical nonsense wars - it's debilitating and takes the focus away from God & Neighbour. Whatever Catholic Church you are in look for the Tabernacle and know He is there, fulfilling His promise in the most meek way for our sake! That's Love!

Even when we have died, our bodies should be treated with due respect, in part because our lives are not our own. We do not create ourselves. To treat our own bodies as something without value or dignity is a perversion.

We encourage self hatred in our culture.

Not among the cradle Orthodox Christians that I know, but it is definitely deeply imbedded in the early eastern fathers writings and in the praxis of Orthodox rites, so it’s absolutely front and center in the Tradition. It is in Catholicism as well, but among most individual Catholics, not so much. Both Orthodox and Catholics have a long way to go with catechesis of their respective flocks.

Yea Fr Stephen DeYoung is a great scholar. Obviously some of the conclusions drawn in the podcast can be a little overstated, but it’s a really solid podcast overall.

Hey! Do you have a specific church document in mind where it is taught that there is only one fall of the angels? I’d be curious to see it. My personal understanding (take it as you will): As far as I have seen, it is an open question. (The Catechism, for instance, doesn’t touch it). It’s also not clear if, on the “multiple falls” theory, we’re talking about distinct falls of different angels, or successive falls of the same portion of angels, who eventually fall so far that their repentance becomes impossible. (If I have the liberty, I would tend to favor the latter view). Just as there is a certain point at which angels attain a blessedness which cannot be reversed, there is a certain point at which angels attain a level of wretchedness which cannot be reversed. The point of no return for those angels of old appears to be the sin that 2Peter refers to. At this stage in salvation history, I don’t believe blessed angels can fall nor that fallen angels can repent (hence, Catechism 393). A series of past events and interactions between heaven and earth have permanently sealed angelic fate(s). Now humanity’s destiny is being played out. But again, a lot of these things are open questions, and all I can say is that a lot of what we’ve been presenting on the channel can be found in many ancient Jewish apocalyptic and Patristic sources.

@@TheCatholicBrothers Hey… Thank you for your quick response. Unfortunately I can‘t point to any document. I heard it on an episode of Catholic Answers if I remember correctly, but it was definitely Tim Staples making the statement that the catholic church teaches that there was only one angelic fall. Probably he was influenced/informed by Thomas Aquinas. The argument is that God was showing the angels in a vision what He was going to do (creating and becoming a human). The response from the angels triggered either the beatific vision or eternal damnation, hence only possibly one fall. But of course I don‘t know if that’s correct and since you guys are the historians you‘d probably kmow… Thanks again. I appreciate you and your videos very much!!

Which sources are you referring to?- because the fathers of the church, nearly unanimously, opine/teach that Satan knew nothing of the incarnation or Mary until the events themselves took place (and even then, he was not quite aware of Jesus’ precise identity until the resurrection). That Satan was hoodwinked is one of the earliest theories of ‘atonement.’

That's a good question; I've heard it many times from other Catholics and never thought to look into their sources, the reason being that's always the answer I heard and there didn't seem to be any alternate theories. Looking into it briefly now, the Mary connection is detailed in the book Mystical City of God by the incorrupt Mary of Agreda, circa 1600s. I am unsure if the concept is older than that.

I think it is in Gen. Where God says "I will put enmety between you and the woman, between her seed and your seed and she shall bruise your head and you shall bruise her heel" To me that seems to put Satan's envy is primarily against Our Lady Mary. Also I think there are more references in the Apocalypse Gospel narratives Please help.
