Shane O'Dwyer I am currently building a 2022 CSC Honda Goldwing Trike in Australia. As a mechanical engineer I couldn't agree more with Max's summary of the front suspension. It is a sound description of what happens when you change the dynamics of all bikes and trikes alike. Great to see he is following his advice with his own replacement front suspension. I have just ordered that front shock which will be coming via the CSC rear end soon. I'll give a review once the Trike is fully functional in several months
I just had my 2014 GW trike done last week and then finished our 3000 mile trip thru Ga, NC, TN and back to Texas. What a difference in the handling, great improvement, highly recommend..
I just had the shock installed on my 2020DCT Roadsmith HTX1800. What a difference! Before the shock looked like a blender going down the highway. Now it looks like the shock is barely working. Best $900 ever.
Thank you very much! Can you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE call the installer and the conversion manufacturer and let them know? I think they should be installed on every kit for safety.
Love your video on the need for essential upgrade on the "newer recent Trike Systems....!!! -Keep The Info coming; I LOVE IT...!!! (Have a 2010 GW Trike & considering going to newer used version etc....?! Any suggestions you might offer/share would be greatly appreciated...? ;-) (I'd be looking for newer version but NOT REAL new...etc.) Don't need any regrets after the fact.... ;-) & Am disappointed to hear about the "newer versions" having issues & don't care for that either... Right...!? ;-) -Take Care & May The Good Lord Take A "Likin' To Yeah," Partn'r...!! (HartOtex)
I think the newer version is better suited to trikes since it does not have a telescopic fork... which is really not at all intended for trike use, but has just been pressed into that job because "That's all there was". The twisting forces are terrible for telescopic forks, and the new double control arm suspension has none of that.
Great video Max and great info. Love seeing the Goldwing trike getting some attention. When I get my Trike, I will be looking u up for sure. I wish u knew trike companies as well u know shocks, that way u could tell me which trike kit is the best lol. Thanks Max.
I saw one of the trike makers has a heavier duty front fork that attaches to the control arms on the 18 plus. Couldn't tell ya which one it is. You're right though about the shock.
Great Video Max, Honda should be ashamed of their product really! Now if they would of incorporated a solid shock with adjustable air suspension on that one single shaft with only 7 to 12 psi to help with that extra weight that would of be clever of them. NOT!
Good evening it July 4th I have a 2008 Honda 1300 VTX different shakes really bad when you pulled out of the driveway or going down a rough road do you think you're shocked system would work on that
Yes, we have products for that bike. But if it's that bad, I believe you may have other problems, like bad steering head bearings, tires, wheel bearings, etc. We can help find and fix that if you come to us. If you can't get to Georgia, you need to find a great mechanic to help diagnose your problem.
If'n I were a trike owner your demo would have sold me right then and there.. So, your stating that the 2020 Goldwings re-calibrated supension still sags like this trike with a 200 pound rider?
Air shocks have been a total disaster on motorcycles since they were conceived. They fail.... coil springs don't. But most importantly, there is no "linear rate air spring", so an air shock can never work as good as a mechanical spring shock.
What is the amount of the engine cc, of the Honda gold wing 🐎horsepower, torques ,and the model of the 2021,or 2022 ,it's a propeller drive shaft or chain drive, system, thanks for your generous cooperation in replying. Cosmos daniel.
The spring rate on the upgraded suspension.... would it be the same for a trike that a 155lb rider be the same as one where a 250lb rider with a 140lb passenger. or do you have different spring rates.
Max, I'm considering a Gold Wing Trike. Looked at a few conversions. Like the California Side Car, the one you show here and one other. Do you have any one that you like over the others??
That's a loaded question... I know people are pleased with each of the major brands. I would choose based on 3 things: 1. Styling. 2. Ride Quality 3. Storage Space.
No Honda never changes anything after a bike is released. The last bike went 17 years without any changes to the suspension except thicker oil in the right front fork! Traxxion Dynamics has a shock for trikes that your installer can put on while they have your bike apart... especially if they are putting on a raked fork. They are only 2 bolts away from changing the shock.
Max. what are you talking about i have a 2008 trike with 6 degree rake and shocks to match you only talk about the 2018 trike your selling your pushing Traxxion Dynamic what do you know about the 2008 Goldwing trike ????? bye Road Smith
May I ask for a little advice wife's 2019 dct trike isn't functional we put it on a trailer to bring it home far from home so the road it down for us when sehe road it it didn't sound so good so then battery seem like a problem so I brought a new battery and all the dash lights still are lit on the dash and doesn't want to shift or up ??
That sounds like a pretty serious problem. I have not heard of that. It sounds like you have some shorted out wiring. Since it is a trike, I would look all around the back end of the bike. Do you have a Honda Dealer near you? Or the Trike Dealer?
@@Traxxion yes so the dealership is coming to pick it up Tuesday there going to take it back with then ofcourse its about 12hrs away and another state so I'll let then solve it
Yes, but it's a totally different system. It uses traditional telescopic forks, and we have an AWESOME ugrade kit called the AK-20 Axxion Cartridge Kit we can install.
They don't make trikes... so they don't care what I say about them! :) Other than that, they don't care what I say about the 2-wheeler either as far as I can tell! HAHA!
2 things to check... sometimes the handlebar bolts are not tight and the handlebar is slipping against the bolts. Also, there is a weight inside the handlebar to control vibration, it may be loose or broken.
@@phillipvazquez284 I'm not sure I can find your problem remotely, but if we haven't found it, try and send me a video to see what is happening, and I'll try and help further.
@@Traxxion I will do but you describe just what it feels like . I say that because it doesn't feel that down low it feels more in the handle bar only so I will get my friend and me to look at it this week .
Those parts are don't do anything to address the shock.... in fact, they make it worse. Pushing the wheel out forward puts more leverage on the shock making it even softer!
