Why Gran Turismo 7 Being On PS4 Is A Good Thing 

Yeah I don't care. I want them to make money rather than the franchise dying out because there's no money reserves for future development of GT8 and onwards.

Considering how beautiful GT Sport is and the millions of PS4/PS4 Pro's that have been used all over the world in tournaments and online play. Anyone that understands business and technology infrastructure totally gets it. You have to remember alot of RU-vid commenting audience demographics are those under 30 years old and don't live in the real world.

If GT7 comes to PC that means we could have portable GT7 through the steam deck. Hopefully polyphony makes the GT mode playable offline so the experience can be good for those with poor or no internet

@@ramirez4456 why not have GT7 on pc or have GT7 offline? Having the GT7 champagne offline is good for those who have bad internet and having it on pc will be good because of the portability of the steam deck.

The reason I think it shouldn't be on PS4 is because they had to re-use the same game engine from GT sport in order for it to work for PS4. The game would have looked/performed better if it was exclusively made for PS5. But end of the day, it's still wise to make it cross gen as many still don't have access to the ps5.

I’m on a PS4 Slim with a 1TB SSD and there’s nothing tells me this game is cross-gen if I didn’t know.

I feel like "rather than making something that was limited before now possible" is less probable in the graphics department today, but I feel like it will moreso change things like physics and AI.

@@TheJakeMG I can see that. Physics and AI could be refined further. But I don't think it will seem as much of a leap forward compared to past gens. For physics, most racing games generally already have a good approximation of what kind of physics they want for their gameplay. Need for Speed and Forza Horizon for example, work off of more arcade-y physics. Many people still love the older Black Box Need for Speeds despite them being on older hardware because they generally nailed the kind of arcade-y physics they were going for. So even if these games get PS5/XBX exlclusive games, it's not like their physics would be "better" or "more realistic" since they didn't really rely on that. More sim-like racers like Gran Turismo do rely more on realistic physics as part of their appeal. But the PS4/XB1 already demonstrated that you could still get "reasonably close" to realistic physics. I remember that in the F1 games, real race car drivers actually preferred to play them with assist on since they handled closer to real cars. AC and iRacing have also received praise from real race car drivers of handling like how they expect. Gran Turismo is already used to help train race car rivers for real events. I feel this means that how much physics could be improved in future racing games would feel more marginal rather than significant simply because the experience is already "mostly realistic". Like, suppose in 10 years, Gran Turismo 8 comes out and features "30% better physics", it's not going to feel that much different because GT7 already comes close to that. AI is debatable. There is technically much more room for racing game AI to improve since many racing game AIs don't act or have the same tactics a human driver would use. Events from Gran Turismo and SOPHY show that it is possible for racing game AI to reach a high point to challenge pros. But I am skeptical not because the technology is the issue but because of the player experience. "Unpredictable good AI" may be more frustrating to deal with than "predictable bad AI" for many players. Like, when Yeager were developing Spec Ops the Line, they initially wanted an extremely challenging and smart AI that would properly react to the player's actions. But when testing the AI, they found it would adopt tactics like camping the route for the player and smoking them easily. They had to intentionally dumb down the AI to make them more fair, such as forcing them to take cover, pop out for shots and line themselves up in the player's line of sight. Or, as a driving game example, The Forza Horizon game uses Drivitars, AI drivers that are based on the driving styles of real people. But at the same time, Drivatars are not allowed to do stuff like be aggressive or smash into other players or do wacky stuff as it would frustrate other players even if that is something that real player would do. I feel this would limit how good racing game AI will get. Not because it would be impossible to perfectly fine tune AI to be both challenging and smart but still fair (games like FEAR show it is possible) but because of the cost in fine tuning AI vs just making them good enough (especially given that many racing games often rely on Multiplayer to make up the difference). Like, many people praise the Police AI in Need for Speed Most Wanted 2005 as it is generally pretty good and dealing with many of the situations and is really challenging. Even though it runs on 6th gen consoles and isn't "perfect", it's good enough for what the game is going for and fun for most players. I suspect that will be how even future racing games will operate. It's not like making AI drivers 10% better will make the overall experience 10% for most players. So small gains in AI will probably be more likely.

...nah they mastered that in Gen 7 at least on the PS3 and Wii U. I don't like driving simulations. I find gran turismo boring and only stay for car porn. What other franchise had Jey Lenos rare cars. Instead they focus on AI and Reytracing non sense.....Nvidia we mean you. Inde games is where it's at for me. Also updates and patches....f that.

@@subeckloro it plays as good as GT Sport and the tracks atmosphere is a lot better..updates had been improved over the minor bugs still not rectified yet..needs more previous GT tracks for future updates..if you haven't got it yet..no need to rush to buy GT7 for next couple of months

Don’t think it will happen. Sony has got to keep a few titles to itself. And I believe this is one of those that will stay a ps exclusive.

PS4 slim cant do 4k, but GTS looks pretty nice on it, so GT7 won't really look bad. GTS will run at 1080p 60fps on base PS4 most of the time

- Larger multiplayer grids You're correct about the general point, but ACC is a bad comparison to make since it uses a different physics engine that is much more CPU-bound and CPU-heavy. - Full VR Support The PS4 version existing shouldn't limit VR support on PS5. I think we'll get a slightly upgraded VR mode at launch and full support when PSVR2 launches, but we'll see. - Real Time Pit Stop Can you elaborate on what you're talking about? - Physics and other improvements Fast loading and more visual effects are already on the PS5 version. The PS4 version existing does not mean those things can't exist on PS5 - think of PC players playing together with one on Low/Medium settings and the other on Ultra. - And Many other Features The features you listed can be done on PS4. PD just hasn't implemented them (yet?) - I wouldn't blame the lack of them on the PS4 version existing.

@@TheJakeMG - The ACC comparison still stand, as i mention Kunos had made PS5 ACC with no parity with ps4 ver as result Better improve physic engine, loading faster, more visual effects, higher resolutions and frame rates. GT7 as currently both ps4 and ps5 are essentially the same game with ps5 having higher visual and effect. with the physic engine basically the same because parity - when you go into the pit a cut scene plays till you able to change tires and fuels another cut scene play and you out of the pit, as for RTPS you are physically driving to your stop service you car and drive out the pit all in real time. -It could have been so much better -ppl waited 4 years for PD to implemented those, and it looks likes its we not getting it on GT7 either, so i will assume its because of limitation
