Oooooo I hated the soundtrack so much, it's so horrid, now, I love the art-style of the game, it's unique and it caught my attention, and the new system they implemented in the game with the burst nos, I love it! but the soundtrack, eugh! while I was doing some race, Boih started playing and when the beat started, I was like "eh, it's alright" but as soon as the lyrics came in and the singer went "GRRRRRRR" I wanted to punch my TV screen, holy crap, it's like the devs are trolling when they were picking these awful music, this is why I went back to playing old nfs game, they did what they were supposed to be, have fast-paced, enjoyable, fun sounding, and adrenaline rushing music to keep you focused on the road.
As someone who played the hell out of GT5 and looks at it with an unbiased eye, the word you're looking for is "Bloated". Its a game that really tryed to do so much but unlike where GT4 felt like a well made sandbox, GT5 and its really delayed nature just felt a game that they tryed to shoehorn nearly everything in. The Standard cars aren't even the PS2 quality models, they're the models plucked directly from GT PSP. And as much as I had fun times both offline and with friends, I still cannot forgive the criminally long loading times for both (With Online being the absolute worst). For me, its an awkward one. Its so bloated and feels like it didn't need to be this huge..and yet, I actually sorta like it more then GT6 because despite GT6 being clearly less bloated and better working game (Sure as hell didn't leave me in a loading limbo for years when I came back to it like GT5 had), it also feels like the less ambitious and "By the numbers" game too.
The thing with soundtracks in nfs games is that they're either fire or they just fit the style of the game, unbound has some decent songs nothing too crazy but some either dont fit the game at all or the devs somehow added them from their tiktok music list, the older nfs games along with midnight club did it much better
you don't feel the speed in video games, because we need way more fps for that. it is a simple math example: driving at 100KM/h is the same as 100.000meter/3.600.000miliseconds, if we get a stable 120fps and 120hz monitor which is every 8.33miliseconds a new frame - we do get 3.600.000/8.33= 432.173 Frames per hour then we can calculate 100.000meter/432.143 we get every 0.23meter a new frame.... IN SHORT: driving with 100km/h at 120FPS gives you roughly every 0.23meter which is same as 23centimeters a new frame (that is a lot of distance not shown). - or at 60fps it would be 0.46m, or at 200km/h the same...(that is almost every 50centimeters a new frame) even worse at 30fps and or 300km/h. that is why we don't feel speed, because it is faked, because we don't get enough fps and hz to see all the meters flying by :D
To be fair, NFS Heat had a pretty shit soundtrack too, but no one gave it slack cuz everyone was just coping and going off on the whole "oh get with the time" type shit. So why the sudden tonal shift with a different game. It doesn't make any sense. And let's be honest, not all of Heat and Unbounds soundtrack was even that bad. Bruh I'm literally bumping some songs from Unbound to this day.
even though racing games aren't that interesting to the gamer crowd, im still glad that it's a big industry that we still have decent/quality games, look at other genre like skateboard games, the only decent game they have is a game released 10-20 years ago lol
So amazing to see more and more PS2 games getting private servers and online functionality restored. Do you reckon we will ever see SSX3 get the same treatment? I'm remaining optimistic after Burnout 3 has its servers restored too
I loved the first person real time cutscenes it felt so much like I was in there and it was my story. I loved the story I loved the acting, it felt fun. and it wasn’t until I got online that I found out people hated all the things I loved.
looking back gt5's ui was crappy. however the main screen where you could choose betwen the game modes looked amazing in my opinion. Also they nailed the premium dealership.
Simple, inclusion of music from all over the world. People from the United States want a soundtrack comprised of music from the United States. Same with another country wanting music from their home turf. It's that simple. Games should get localized soundtracks based on their region. That way, people would complain less and be happy, more or less. It may seem bad, but It's basic psychology. It's just how the mind works.

You can't just generalize the whole subject to different music tastes or not being able to turn off the unwanted music. This is really shallow minded take from you. Good racing soundtrack doesn't only close on the margins of the setting of the world in the game or art style. The music in NFS Most Wanted 2005 was good not only, because the songs were bangers back in the day, but they were also good to drive with, feel the vibes. Strong and quick songs in that were basically really fitting the game setting. While Unbound is a mix of everything. The songs were for everyone and for noone at the same time. There are good songs like the cover of Where is my mind or Amir Obe Wish you Well, but they are not exactly good songs to listen to while racing and competing. Umek Cryptic Speech was a very good choice and it landed on my treasure list, but the majority of the songs is either shit or doesn't fit the game at all. For example, you wouldn't play heavy metal in the kindergarten. The music is just a bad choice. This is the issue, which you have not addressed properly.
Gran turismo 1, 2, 3, SPORT, and 7 are my favourites. All the others are trash af. I used to love GT5 and 6 too, but now that i bought a ps3 again in 2024, i really do not like the licenses and other content in them. Its programmed totally wrong
GT5's maximum allowed Credits to be 20,000,000 is rough! The "Experience" count is absurd. When I got to level 25 on B-Spec, I was given a gorgeous GT Red Bull X 2010. I wanted another one. So, I spent days working up to having 20,000,000. I went to get my 2nd GT Red Bull X 2020 and was told that I couldn't have one because I was not yet at level 40 in B-Spec. I GOT ONE AT THE LEVEL 25 MARK...who the hell thought that little delight up? Now, I have to do loads of races that I find, frankly, boring, to get my Xp level to 40. I think I prefer GT4 - I always felt at home with that version, and I loved being able to speed up the Endurance events by x 3. I bought the black Mustang (1970) and took it to an American race. I couldn't run that car in the race because it had to have been from back before 1979 - WHAT THE HELL IS 1970? I'm confident I'll be going back to GT4, but I've no idea whether or not it would even work in my PS3...does anybody know?
I only liked the first PGR game and still felt it was kinda a downgrade over MSR. I felt they really cranked the difficulty too high in the later games. Although looking at them now, I think the big problem was they all suffered from tank controls due to too much controller latency, due to the technology of the time. Its frustrating as a PGR 5 running at 60-120fps would likely be a huge improvement. Trouble is, most racing games these days are either focusing on realism of the cars over graphics, or are online where they never push the graphics that hard as they want it to scale to really low hardware to get the numbers to warrant the server upkeep. There's really nothing quite like PGR today.
a perfect example of both sim and a arcade gaming is Need for Speed shift. Shift was insane. The sense of speed with both realistic and arcadey. As the tunnel vision effect, the crashes, was too realistic. Everytime you crash the screen turns gray and you can’t see anything. The faster your car go the more blurry your vision gets. the unrealistic part was the cornering and how fast the cars felt. you would drift and slide every corner as you hear the tired screaming, and the speed is INSANE. if you were going 80 mph in the game, it AUTOMATICALLY felt like you were going 160 mph. I miss the game it was too memorable.
my argument to that would be that people are starting to hate cars, the past 5-7 years introduced a lot of nuisance especially in the car/car related markets, emission regulations, interest rates causing car prices to go up, manufacturers ensh*tificating their cars, generally just a lot of reasons for normal people to not want to deal with anything car-related
Even in 2024, i still love Gran Turismo 5 despite all of its problems like all 830 cars from Gran Turismo 2 to PSP are hidden on "Used Car Dealership".

What the hell are you talking about. Forza Horizon 4 has a good sense of speed...You need to get down to Specsavers and then make another video... and Driveclub doesn't use just a 3rd person view, it has 1st person as well and has a very good sense of spped in 1st person too...
I can vouch for '90s Super GP being playable at Anime Expo in 2019, I played it and it was *really* bad. Outside of the points listed at 6:38, the feel of driving didnt even match or remind me of the old sega classics it was based off of. I even remember asking if the person on the floor some questions and never getting a straight answer.
I bought an MR car, there's no MR race in Beginner Cup, I bought an Exhaust for my car and decided not to install it for now, where does it go, to the Item Menu, not the garage or the tuning shop, to the ITEM MENU. Yeah nice one Phonypoly. On a serious note, in terms of progression and UX/UI design, its not any better than GT4 but I kinda let it slide sometimes.

I don't understand that if Toyota doesn't want to be in NFS, why force them? Are other car manufacturers dead? Are they bad? Audi, BMW, Porsche, Lamborghini, Nissan, Dodge etc are better in terms of sports cars. The only good Toyota sports car was the MR2 and Chaser. Thats it. Supra and AE86 don't keep a special factor and none of their cars feel special like in a CORVETTE.
What did you schmucks expect from a franchise sharting out one per year and that they peruse nothing but contemporary music? I'd say, it started to go bad after ProStreet with horrid selections strayed too far from the root of illegal street racing.
I’m curious to know what version you’re playing. GT5 was severely underdone when it was initially released so much so I didn’t play it for quite some time. It wasn’t until I finally got connected to the internet that a lot of things changed. I’ll admit there was quite a lot wrong with GT5 specially with offline play, but they almost absolutely nailed online play particularly for structured private events. I miss those days
And you didn't mention how GT5 doesn't limit career. In GT2 we were limited by horse power, but here we can use overpowered cars and quite often even if I try fit into rest of opponents my car's still too op for them, because AI sucks XD I like GT5 but there's plenty of stuff which annoyed me many times
its okay to have hip hops and pops in racing games, but the thing is ive heard better electronic/pop songs on the older games like Live Forever by Hyper or Stay Too Long by Pendulum they just put whatever they find on the internet and puts it in Unbound, not caring if it fits the racing pace or not
don't know what is wrong with mine config but ryzen 7 5800x3d 2x16gb ddr4 3600mhz and RX7900GRE barely keeps 30fps in this game , but i noticed gpu utilization is low .60fps patch is of course enabled . Already tried messing with xenia config but so far no luck .
Yeah this video is completely one sided. When the music is shit, it is shit. No matter how much gas lighting or how nice the way you put it, it is just trash.

Gran Turismo Sport quality wise at least was on par with other PS4 exclusives like Uncharted 4, Spider-Man and God of War Gran Turismo 5 launched the same year of God of War 3 and quality wise is way worse.
