I think Junker Queen’s Commanding Shout should get reduced cooldown the more you land her abilities and stay in the fight. If Carnage or Jagged Blade lowered the cooldown of Commanding shout by a second or two every time you landed it, it would incentivize you to keep fighting. It would also make up for JQ low health pool.

Alternatively adrenaline rush could provide over health if she has max health like doomfists abilities? That could had to her individual survivability. Or you could have the commanding shouts cool-down or health increase fluctuate depending on how many enemies are close by wrecking ball style. Both are junkers and it fits in as a kind of hyped up brawl encouraging close range battle.

Something I don't see anyone use, like, ever, is that Queen can start the Carnage animation, and pull the knife back without canceling Carnage, letting you always get at least one hit with the axe.

The problem with Junkerqueen is that she was only added for fan service rather than to bring new gameplay and concept to the word of overwatch. Most characters are designed top-down, by having a central concept and/or ability they wanted to include in the game and then building around it, with the character's design and origin story being based around this concept/ability to personify it. Generally you will have a primary ability or gameplay loop, with secondary abilities created around it to complement it, and then have a character to make sense of these abilities. Junkerqueen was created bottom up instead, where they already had an established character and had to come up with suiting abilities for her. This was extremely restrictive since abilities that didn't suit her personality, context or known abilities couldn't be implemented even if the worked well together. And all of it still had to be fun, arguably the most important aspect as the character was added to please the fans. It lead to what is probably the most unfocused, unrealistic and honestly uninspired kit in the game. First of all, her abilities are all various very generic offensive moves, generally using a hand to hand weapon in it's most basic use. They are all very in your face, which gives you way too many things to throw at your opponent close range, but forces you to run at them and stay in their face as she has no escape, no long range (even rein, zarya and winston have something to do at long range), and no defensive cool-downs. This forced the team to give her simingly magical abilities with no form of explanation tied to the sci-fi lore so she wouldn't instantly explode while trying to run at the opponent. So while we have very intricate futuristic technology or biology to explain what the other characters are doing, her shout can inexplicably give health and speed to the allies, and the wounds she applies to her opponents can magically heal herself. Junkerqueen, who is just a regular tall strong woman in the overwatch lore is now has super power out of nowhere for the sake of making her playable. Like everything mechanically interesting about her is just thrown in with no explanation and absolutely doesn't fit with the character, and the rest of her kit is just basic weapons we already had in the game like a shot gun or basic melee weapons with no interesting things about it. All of jt thrown together in the most disjointed way possible. They almost gave her a cool and interesting concept with her magnetic bracelet, but then did absolutely nothing interesting with it, only serving as a excuse for "why her knife comes back to her". Honestly hope they will learn from her and stop creating characters for the sake of having them in the game, I like Mauga as much as the next guy but if he's only added to get the same, uninteresting treatment as junkerqueen, I hope he never gets added in place of a more interesting character.

Using shout without full health allows bleed to heal the normal health effectively while using the green health as a buffer. I like to keep this in mind instead of using it exclusively for engaging enemies.

Honestly so much about how junker queen needs to be played reminds me of doom fist. He struggles so much against Ana and Orissa because how vulnerable he is to CC

Nice. I honestly think there's better plays Hanbin could have made since this is random match-up environment, not a scrim. I don't think his methodical playstyle would work too well on the ladder we all play! At 9:09 in this environment if he just made sure he had the attention of his team, he IMO should definitely have just popped shout + ult at full health to get to the position where he is at 9:22 and then hold W into the Widowmaker and rotate around back out to make space for your team of randoms. Yes, Kiriko would cleanse, but if you can collapse their backline while baiting Suzu it's a much better position for your team than what happened at 9:22 anyway. 1:30 is also another good example of how I think ladder play Junker Queen will be different. When that Orisa casually walked out past the corner to the car that's when you have to move back to the choke with Junker Queen. You can't contest her there, and it was only really lucky that the Hanjo was low enough to get a pick. I've noticed when I play Junker Queen against Orisas I have to play JQ as if I'm another Orisa trying to claim the same corners of the map. 3:40 is another example where I think he should have contested that corner on the ground against Orisa, because dropping down on her like that never works as you can't force evict her. If you try to use e.g. axe after jumping down on an Orisa it's just not going to work. If you contest the corner it will give your damage and support a little bit better ability to fire down on them. That corner poke situation is where Junker Queen will have highest damage potential against another tank, so perhaps a bit ironically I think Junker Queen can be better on defense on a lot of payload maps because the tank will have to walk into you, and once they start giving up space you can run in and follow it up. When that happens the support and damage will also run closer to you, so you may be able to get cheeky picks with knife and axe. Just my experience, what people easily can handle is a Junker Queen trying to run up to them, but not so much when she's already on top of them.

maybe this'll be too complex to code correctly, but i think shout should mitigate cc, like instead of preventing or cleansing things like anti-heal, maybe make it last half the time or make it half as effective so it lets you heal at 50% efficiency.

I feel like if wound healing was upped to 150% it'd really help her sustain, her current rate of self healing seems so unimpactful. And her knife throw CD could maybe be decreased by a second so she can poke more easily.

Knife cool down is fine. It isn't too bad, but the length of Shout is a but too long. It starts CD after the 5 seconds of the ability uptime ends. It should either start after usage, or be brought down acouple seconds IMO. The ability however is incredibly versatile, which means you would have her constantly running to the backline. You don't use it to just take damage or walk around, you use it to close the gap on the squishies in the backline. Realistically, it should probably have some means of gaining cooldown reduction through some means like how carnage is reduced per enemy hit. It would reward good JQs for playing her abilities more correctly and prevent her from dominating too much (hopefully) without some counter.

I am a Junker Queen main and I can also agree that Orisa is straight up annoying against her. Her damage ain't terrible, but against an Orisa, you're more than likely gonna lose. I do win against Orisa's a lot of the time as well, but at the same time you know you're in for a tough time. Other than that, Ana is the only other pain to me lol.

Commanding shout needs to either last a second or 2 longer or can get reduced cooldown if you land melees with knife in her hand. Would help keep her in fights for a bit longer and can get her to put out a bit more damage often

The increase in time makes it worse. The cool down needs to drop at use not end of shout active or be dropped a second or two overall from its 15 second timer. Basically I would trade more uptime for less cool down. 5 seconds is a good amount already. You don't use shout for front lining. You use it to move in on the enemy and rush the back line or escape.

When you're a tank and your entire kit gets fully countered by the best support duo in the game... (Ana Kiriko) Like something in the way Junkerqueen was designed really feels off, she has such high drawbacks for the little benefits she brings. Easily the second worse tank in the game for me, it's way too easy to negate her value and her value isn't that great to begin with.

Queen is one of the most fun tanks to play, for me atleast. Her damage is just to low to be usable against the likes of road and orisa. And Ana's whole kit just hard counters her.

yup, i only play her and it takes skill, my take is she needs her LSHIFT cool downed to 11-10 secs OR keep the 14 sec cooldown and buff the duration of her shout from 5 to 7 sec it makes sense since well half of 14 is 7, maybe an extra 100 health or armor to about 500-525 and she is perfect

I love junker queen in a junk rat only main for years but I like starting with queen sometimes I just steam roll and bully their whole team if they are aggressive but queen is weak to bullets so u gotta be evasive.. I usually switch to another tank immediately because there is a lot of counters as you see but if they didn’t switch off that Winston that player would’ve been destroyed.. I hate people who don’t switch to me this game is like chess I play the open que

Add a 5% or 10% increase damage on the enemy the knife is on and only for her and she'll be better. (having a flat % increase isn't appealing to me, i'd better have something that works with her (new) kit and having to be active to benefit from it)

I think JQ needs a slight buff to walk speed and heal a little more off adrenaline rush. That way her current play style is preserved but she becomes a bit more viable. Her staying power is by harassing and CD management, rather than Orisa where you cycle through your CDs with 5-second gap where you can take un mitigated dmg, or Hog who can only be dealt with focus fire and headshots, otherwise, he will heal off 75% of what has been done.

IMO, I feel like JQ needs more health. But I think an interesting way of doing it would be making wounds' healing extend JQ's health. So if she hit five heroes with her ult, she'd get like 2k effective health that fades over time. Since her damage isn't that great and wounds can be countered on other heroes, making JQ be effectively be unkillable for a few seconds would make her ult stronger and her mechanical identity more unique.

I think adding a heal on her carnage when she lands it can encourage people to play a more combo playstyle and compensate for her low health pool l rather than just using it as a finisher most of the time.

Just give her slightly more health and more health regen. The reason she is so unplayable now is due to her being so squishy and being less able to hold space as a tank. A slight speed increase on the animation for carnage would be nice as well. This would make her personally more survivable while not breaking her by buffing the shout which was the main issue that forced her hard meta on release. Allowing her to stay in the fights longer would increase her damage naturally without needing to actually change her damage numbers at all theoretically. I would argue that rampage is even fine despite kiriko as you just need to wait for the cleanse to use it. Same as alot of ults... I always wait for a dva to lose mech before I throw a blizz or grav... same idea. Great video!

how to buff junkerqueen: more health: is litterally the weakest base tank in the game (425 health +200 overhealth with commanding shout) cc immunity during carnage: has no cc immunity antihealth immunity: honestly the best thing i can think of since you have no self sustain other than commanding shout which just gives you a regular tank health pool and a speedboost when you're anti'd gain overhealth from wound effect when you're full health up to 75 or 50 extra. not much else i can think of, kiriko on overwatch 2 release really made her an unviable pick and with her already being a weak character, some of these buffs may actually make her somewhat viable.

this video of a TOP junker queen main shows and proves that she isn’t in a good state her last buff of 25hp increase was alright but i think to make her more viable in comp they should increase her number of shots to 8 from 6 and decrease shout cooldown from 14 to 12 and maybe increase the knife throws hitbox to make it easier to land other tanks are so much better at making space for the team her queen having kirkio as a hard counter makes her ult almost useless at times so i believe them adding these changes would make her easier to play against her counters

Is it me or does junker queen have the lowest health pool compared to the other tanks I think doom is 400 I could be wrong. I feel like they should increase her health pool to 550 or something close. Maybe buff cast time of carnage Maybe also buff her regen from bleeds a bit more I don’t know if you would want to give her more damage but these I think are more ideas to buff her better to be inline with the other tanks and not be the weakest one

Her health is low due to being able to self heal, shes supposed to be a tank that sustains herself and creates problems by existing. And i know, hog has heals too, and a huge health pool, but is he healthy for the game still? Not really. I honestly think Queen and Ram are both fairly well balanced heros if you revert Orisas "lets make her stomp hog" buffs, and fix Suzu. Queen has a lot of dynamic ability if she wasnt being overshadowed by other generally oppressive tanks/ and ability that nulls her whole kit. DoTs and a more consistent self-heal instead of burst heals are a unique set of abilities, especially in tank, her damage can be low and okay at the same time if shes able to use her abilities. Its the if thats the issue right now, because shes not able to.

8:32 considering you deal 130 damage with it, no it doesn't take way too long, it's what a balanced ability looks like d-(OuO)z Not to mention casting Carnage and pulling an enemy into you with the knife in its windup negates the downside completely
