Only reason large items are having trouble selling is the true state of the economy. Interest rates and inflation are taking the gains used to buy these things. FJB

You either use machines until they're dead and take them the tip or you keep them nice and shiny and trade them every few years. My sister is 60. She has been driving for 42 years and has only owned 5 cars. All but 1 of them were cheap second hand used vehicles. She sold her first car, a VW Beetle for $600. The next 3 cars went on a flatbed to the wrecking yard. Her current car, the only one that she's purchased new is an '07 Mazda 3. She wants a new car but refuses to sell the Mazda or trade it in, insisting that she's "waiting for it to die". The car is in perfectly good working order, it runs like new. She's going to be waiting for a while. She doesn't give two hoots about depreciation.

All car and motorcycle dealers are going to have a rough 2024. The 24 road glides and street glides have the new engines and specs and are cheaper than the 23 models were last year. That means around $7,000 discount on the 23s - at least.

SO I can hear when the warranty runs out ( yeah man that's old technology) .Also you won't be able to service them yourselve because you'll need specialized equipment at $150 an hour. Exactly. NOTHING is harder to sell today than a used Harley. Especially true if you actually ride your bike and put some miles on it. The market is flooded with them. Known many to get over 100,000K on their twin cams and M8s. Got the HD Visa card earning points and after five years, will use the points for a down payment to help purchase a new one. I understand people like what they like, but again I always think back to how we purchase our automobiles. I'm not paying top dollar for a design they are no longer making. Might as well get a 21 or 22 for a cheaper price then pay more for a 23 model that costs more than a brand new 2024. Hopefully Harley will greatly discount the 23. That's what car dealers do!

I'm glad this is happening! Harley has been inflating their own market for literal decades. Now they're stuck having to drop the prices by thousands of dollars just to sell their old models! A lot of us saw this coming a mile away. The good part of this is now in a few years i may be able to pick up a Road Glide for reasonable prices. Sick and tired of people thinking their 2008 Road Glide with 30k miles is worth $15,000. Another good thing about this is i wont have to hear another fat-old boomer using "resale value" to belittle someone for riding another brand 😂 I'd like to actually own a touring model without over-spending and/or being a part of the "get a REAL bike" crowd. One reason to go with the 2023 model is you can’t put a 131 stage four or a 135 crate motor on a 2024 model. It only fits on 23s back to 2021s for the 135 and back to 2017 for the 131. So if one wants performance then the 2023 model is the way to go.

New touring models for 2024 have no analog gauges. All digital screen.if you have an electronic issue your riding blind. It may also affect your safety features. No turn signals with bulbs, all led. So instead of changing a bulb you’ll be changing the whole assembly. They May look sharp, but are they practical. Cheaper to build digital, then analog. Harley first year models like the m8 with the oil pump issues in 2017. Would make me think long and hard before purchasing a new 2024. Harley didn’t resolve the oil pump problem for buyers of 2017 models. You were left to correct them on your own. Same may be case for all digital models! The 24 price compared to 23 models make me curious as to where and how the manufacturing cost impacts the difference. Companies are in business to make a profit and if new prices are lower one could possibly think that materials and/or outsourcing various steps in the manufacturing process had to be implemented. $30,000 is why their market is selling to dentist, lawyers, doctors and six figured businessman. and in 2 years they need $3,000 of maintenance work....and then their bikes are trucked in to Sturgis for the big rally.

I've been riding for 31 years. I currently have a 1995 Wide Glide, a 2005 Road King Classic and a 2013 Ultra Limited. If you buy them and never plan on selling them, then devaluation doesn't matter!! I could care less what the resale value of my bikes are........If I were to go right now and buy a new Street Glide, I would definitely get the 2023 model just for the simple fact that it is the only way to get a new one that still has actual analogue gauges and not a screen. Not a fan of the screen.

Lately, I’ve been getting a bunch of emails from indeed. They have a few things in common with what’s going on nowadays. Emails are from Harley dealers looking for sales people. There seems to be a couple dealers in the Orlando area. They’re constantly turning over their sales base. 2020 for being extremely rough year for high ticket items. Credit markets are tightening at this time. Last year we had 1.8 million re-pose in the car in the street. I have no idea how many motorcycles are repossessed. I do not one time Harley claimed. They did not have enough repo agents to go pick up the bikes people couldn’t pay for.before you throw good money after bad. Consider being the second owner of the bike I saved about 15 K on my road king purchase.

Sounds like Harley is starting to sell bikes for what they truly are worth. Their competition sells stage 2 bikes with similar quality for much less. Something to think about.

In 23 the dealerships had a five thousand dollar markup. So that’s probably why the 23’s are still hanging around.

Over production does it all the time. Over supply exceeding demand. At the end of the day. People still need have the discretionary income to be able to buy. What goes up eventually comes down. When things are down, a company like Haley will strategize it’s way to weather the situation. Harley Davidson has been through these scenarios for many cycles in it’s history. One man’s time bad to buy is another’s perfect time. All roads eventually lead back to chrome.

I have a 20 rg special. It’s paid for . I’m not buying nothing again. The only people constantly buy new bikes never pay them off. That is a feeling better than have a CVO in the garage. Unless it’s paid for of course. Lol

25k for new roadking vs. 7k for very nice 2012? I want a ride, not a trophy. Not many are going to spend mega bucks on new. All the b.s. charges on top of the sticker price. Setup? Taxes of 2k??? Keep it. Endless used bikes showroom condition.

They aren’t moving because they price them too high. They’re better but still aren’t that good. It’s not that interest in waning, though it is, but that they’re charging too much.’ Let’s get back to just riding motorcycles
