I like the home. Too close to the highway. For $4.2 Million I only want to hear the birds chirping. The bathrooms need a little updating and for that price the entire basement needs to be finished.

This house is huge, but there is little in terms of style/thoughtfulness. For $4.2M the finishes should be spectacular. I would expect (not talking finishes like speakers and lighting) a gym, plunge pool, steam and sauna to start. Keep it up, my Morehouse brother! Enjoyed your content immensely!

Backyard is not flat and slopes toward the house... where does the water go during a hard rain? No pool or pool house. The elevator and laundry room are too far too be useful. Also some of the finishes are just builder grade.... Nice crib but for 4 milli i want all the bells and whistles.

Horrible road noise, quarter rounds (screams cheap builder grade) on the floor, plastic outlets and switches, cheap door hardware (and mismatched colors: silver and gold), hollow core doors. A poor man's idea of what a rich man's house would look like.

The house is beautiful. I love traditional style homes with defined rooms. The exterior is gorgeous and the lot is large but not too big. The landscaping and mature trees are a bonus as well. The elevator had to be an afterthought and was probably not apart of the original design based on the odd location. I don’t think anything appeared outdated in the house’s interior. My thought as to why the home has not sold is because most people prefer open concept designs and more contemporary finishes, not to mention the loud street noise. If you’re spending $4.2 million dollars why not just have your dream house built to suit your taste. McMansions are terrible investment and notoriously hard to re-sell.

The exterior is absolutely gorgeous along with the landscaping in the front. Personally, I think the layout both up and downstairs is a bit choppy and way too confusing. The kitchen table or dining area was not off the kitchen. It appeared to be located somewhere near that library, office, and sunroom. Beautiful home but way too big even for a large family.

I like the chandelier. I would prefer a first floor primary, even with the elevator. For that price, I would expect a zero threshold shower. It also has a dated feel to me too. Perhaps they wanted it slightly that way because of the house style. I guess they would have to reduce the price by 2 million in order for it to sell.

John, even though everything is online, it’s still nice to have a place for books. I have a lot of books on my Kindle app but I love to read a real book when I can. There’s nothing like reading a real book. Sometimes I think if the internet went down, we’d all be lost since we rely so much on the internet. Don’t get me wrong, I’d miss my computer and my IPad.

Beautiful bones but I agree with you that house does seem dated and for that price needs to be more turn key ready. Someone out there won't mind the noise but they will mind having to redo all of the bathrooms (outside the master). And the closets in the master at that price point needs more finishes.

The chandelier and wood library and elevator was fine. Someone committed in the beginning about the slope in the backyard. If it's 7 years but not being there to visually see if there was any drainage problem for the lot or the basement. Butt they made a good point about the slope. People were mentioning a pool. A lot of people don't like a pool also for resell to be considered. But the price is ok, for the amount of square footage.

I love the grand entrance. Love the door from the dining area. That's a house for a large family. The neutral colors are calming. I love the fact that it has an elevator. Great option. Nice yard space, but I need quiet. Too much surrounding noise. I really like the open layout of this house. The study doesn't fit the home. They should have painted the wood to match the walls. I'm not into chandeliers. It's a beautiful home. I love the shower upstairs. That's a great basement. I don't mind some things being dated like the basement bar area. This house has a huge footprint. It's beautiful. I guess the price is fair considering the massive size. I think the noise is a hindrance.

The study is a Library, and I love it! 1) There are not that many places that are not close to a busy road anymore. Folks are tired of commuting and will take the hit. We moved to a "bedroom community" that has now tripled in size. We heard birds for many years; now we hear sirens. Move or suck it up. 2) The house was modeled after a home in the 1700s, we would expect older looking fixtures and design elements with a new flair. No? 3) The home is beautiful. Lots of yard, lots of square footage and definitely space for aging parents.

This is why I wouldn’t follow a trend, even though it might seem old to some people. I would just go for what I like. Although I know if you want to sell your home, you’d probably have to update some things in order to sell it. But I’ve noticed that some design ideas that are considered dated do come back. I guess it depends on what the homebuyer is looking for. But you’re right, some trends are timeless and never go out of style. As far as that study, it’s too dark in there. I’d keep all the bookcases and just paint everything a lighter color to brighten up the room.

Overall love this house. Love the outside and landscaping. Love the first floor. I love the master bedroom and the sub room attached. Loved that idea. The street noise is a no, but if the house had all the updates it could be tolerated. The cost is a bit much with the in finished basement is a no go. It’s not a complete theme. I agree the home seems dated in some places. The library room was dated. The elevator location would be ok if the master bedroom was down stairs. The reality is as the home owner ages, it may become difficult to maneuver within the home with the floor plan. Overall a beautiful home but for the price and the updates needed it’s a no for me

What are the comparable sales for other houses in the neighborhood and what are other homes in the neighborhood worth? It’s a great house. Very livable. Can see a family with at least 3 kids living there, comfortably and for a long time, which is a plus for that type of home. Lots of room for people to spread out in and with a sizable backyard. So, all the pluses for family living. My guess is that the home is over priced at $4.2M, and needs to come down considerably, especially in this market. And, what’s up with elevators in homes? Is that a DMV thing? That alone would be a minus for most home owners because that’s not an additional cost that you have to consider when the elevator breaks.

Younger buyers don't want "grand" houses anymore like in decades past- they prefer smaller spaces, nor can they afford huge homes. And older buyers already have large homes and are wanting to down-size as they get older. This is one reason why houses like this home are hard to sell now days.

Number one problem with that house is you have two little garage in comparison to the number of bedrooms. For $4.2m, people expect 1:1:1 plus a half bathroom on each floor. to get maximum value out of the house you need to stage the library as a library. Don’t leave it empty. The opportunity to have her/her office or children’s lounge space at the first and second floors. And don’t mix the metal in the house. The furniture of the house suggest lower grade. Those should be custom or Ralph Lauren furniture, no less than Ethan Allen. This house is most likely to sell after the retaining wall is up so as to cut the sound. It is probably going to sell for 3.4 million.

Johnathan I think with some of the design/layout the were keeping with a that historical look from back in the early colonial times I mean the library was built to have that older time period but you can tell it's a modern. And given it's in McLean with you tend to have a lot of DC politicians/elites they probably wanted to keep it with that DC/Georgetown feel of some of the historic home there but modernized. I do think the house is too big. Unless you have staff, who is going to clean that big house? I love the back yard, it’s a nice size. I woudn’t need a pool, you’d still have to maintain it and I wouldn’t use it anyway. I would worry about those trees so near the house and as you say, they’re really tall. Several years back, the tree that was in the back of our house fell on our garage (the tree was actually between our property and our neighbor’s) during a bad storm. If it had fallen more to the right it would have fallen on our house. We (and our neighbor) had the rest of the tree and the stump taken out. Haven’t liked the idea of trees close to the house since then.

LOL Really beautiful home, but I’m with you, too much road noise. Inside gorgeous, love the walnut floors nice staging, two tone walls love it, neutral I appreciate. The house is big a little choppy but I actually could love it. Love the wooden room/study it is just the wrong color should be lighter walnut color stain to vibe well with the floors. If they stained the study/basement/bathroom a diff walnut tone not the red tone it wouldn’t feel outdated. Some of the bathroom counters could be upgraded. The slant on the backyard not my favorite but should have a built in barbecue kitchen for parties. If people want better upgraded closet materials, I would just do it to sell it. Better have a lot of kids to fill this space. Basement you can say is outdated but the weather isn’t that great most of the year so kids be in the basement a lot so probably good for toys, bikes etc. I can’t see an older couple with no kids wanting such a large space. If the retaining wall is being built to block a highway and noise is what you were speaking of, hopefully that works. To sell might have to reduce the price profit margin might take a big hit. Love it otherwise need alot of kids and a lot of money for property taxes, etc. 😊

The house is magnificent. The only negative is the highway noise. Not sure $4.2 mil is a good price, I'd offer $1.0 mil less

The fixtures and finishes throughout the house are not cohesive. Additionally, some of the materials look dated or cheap.😊

With that price , there should not be any part of the house unfinished, and a swimming pool. I would need to be living next to the White House for that amount.

I feel like the home doesn't match, downstairs is almost completely updated, upstairs doesn't look touched.. the may of updated faucets but nothing else.. too mismatch for me

I want to like it but some of the finishes look outdated and I don't like the study. I wish at least one of the secondary bedrooms had a walk-in shower instead of them all having tubs. You are right that the placement of the elevator is too far from all the bedrooms on the top level. Obviously, the owners prefer an older look for it to be built in 2017 but it looks more like 2007 finishes in the bathrooms. Honey oak with old pulls is not a good look. I wouldn't pay that price for the dated look and the traffic noise.

No pool for that price, all of the bathrooms need to be replaced, the noise is an issue, the house design is too choppy so th too many long ad desert hallways and entrances. No gym for the space and poor staging

I’m guessing around 5 million Ok I was over but humm.. The house is nice, I think some of the finishes are dated but I think they were trying to for for a “classic” feel but missed the mark on some of the finishes. I like the flow of the house and I would buy it if they came down off that price because it does need some updating even though it’s only 7 years old.

It’s a beautiful home. The noise is not appealing. The study isn’t bad but I definitely would change the built ins. Love the chandelier.

This house has an "older" feel - the door handles, the wood. I love this house, but the finishes are incredibly inconsistent. The noise factor alone merits a substantial price reduction.

The house looks like it was built in the 90’s. Way too close to the highway.

Nice home, but who would need all that space? The average size family is not that big.
