Why haven't Liverpool offered Mohamed Salah a new contract?

We got Diaz in before Mane left. Where’s all the money? They were willing to spend £105 mil on Conceido and have just made around £60 mil transfer in the transfer window. Letting all contracts get to this point is mad 😡

No, letting it get to January is mad. That's when the players have the option of talking to someone else. They've got the rest of this year to sort something. I suspect if we hadn't changed managers we'd probably have sorted this sooner, but I think it's probably suited all parties to wait and see what transpires. If a silly money offer had come in over the summer maybe we'd have taken it (to be fair to FSG when we've sold players for big money we've generally been able to spend that money on replacements), and Virgil, Mo and Trent would doubtless be a little wary about getting a new manager. Especially Trent as he's never really known anything other than Klopp. As it happens, we got no big offers and things have gone absurdly well so far with Slot and we've got plenty of time to do new deals for all three. I read Mo's comments on Sunday as being, in essence, "I'm ready to talk now".

@@gomey70 there isn’t a smarter decision than signing salah for 2-3 more years assuming you are implying that it might not be. Salah has minimum 2-3 more years of similar output to that. Benzema won a D’or at 35. Cr7 scored 19 goals (and even though they said he didn’t help defend, which is meaningless) he was clutch for united at 39. Salah takes care of his body just as well as Cr7 and he can create. We are not talking about signing him up till he is 39 but letting him go in a year at 33 is so so so stupid. And for free. That’s insane.

We have to think about the future, not doing so is negligent. We cannot let Salah walk for nothing he is a major asset who will need replaced in the near future. I would rather do that with money than without

Hughes should be fired if Salah walks for free because we didn't even speak to him about a new contract. Simple as that. Salah sounds like he wants to stay at the top level in Europe so we should be renewing him ASAP.

If Salah were only focused on money, he would have left for the Saudi league last season. They had already made an offer to Liverpool, which Salah rejected. Let's be rational here-Salah brings much more to the club than just his talent , he represents a healthy lifestyle, consistency, a massive fan base, and maturity on and off the field. A two years contract with an option based on objective for a third year seems fair for both Salah and the club.

Does anyone not think that the reason Salah and VVD specifically haven’t been offered new deals is because of the uncertainty of how Slot will fit in. Edwards/Hughes first priority when coming in was to find a manager. And let him bed himself in assess the players. During Summer although there was a lack of signings surely that was there focus and now the season has begun with Salah and VVD still top of their game, imo they will be offered deals as they are clearly part of Slots plans. I wouldnt panic yet lets see if there not offered anything by November. Trents situation is a lot more worrying as he should of been tied down long before we got to this stage

Salah's relationship with Klopp had become strained, I think he was more likely to want out had Klopp stayed. He is desperate to stay now I think, he rarely gives interviews but is suddenly openly discussing his contract situation. FSG usually drop wages once players get older but they did bend for Hendo so I fully expect they will for Mo. His agent is a clown though and might make things awkward.

Our club over the last 8 years has been excellent in recruiting players and selling players. They have done a decent jobs with contracts as well so I am confident that they know what they are doing and a plan is in place. Watch them all sign and LFC do a special 3 way announcement. It will be peak.

I think excellent in recruitment is pushing it. Kieta, Chamberlain, Thiago, Nunez so far haven't worked out. They have also failed to sign players in numerous windows that's have cost us. Even selling players, too many have gone on a few free. But we have gotten some decent fees especially under Edwards

They have made a mess with contracts. Klopp stated he wanted the likes of Gini, Bobby and Milner to stay but they were sent packing. Bobby would have been useful last season but he felt forced out. And the one they did give a contract to was a big mistake, Hendo. It was ridiculous giving him a 4 year deal when it was clear his legs were going.

Firstly, the club knows Mo wants to stay. That's why they're in no rush. They've also got a new manager in and other big name contracts to deal with. People saying the club is being negligent when they nothing about running a football club, nothing about contract negotiations and nothing about what's going on in these players heads. Everyone needs to chill and let them all get on with it.

I get tired when people say give them what they want. No limits whatsoever? If mo and vvd leave that's two of the highest earners at the club off the wage bill. We've ridden the wheels of these two and fsg are quite happy with that. Trent has still has loads of life in him and he's the only one i expect to stay.

We have spent less than Arsenal, Spurs, West Ham and villa in the last 5 years and our wage bill is 11th now in world football behind Arsenal, Chelsea and even inter Milan. All this while having the 5th highest revenue in world football. FSG are just tight and they need to leave the club, they don’t match our ambition whatsoever. Being sustainable is a good thing but when clubs who make less money than us are outspending us on wages/transfers every single year that argument goes straight out the window. Do we see Arsenal fans ever talk about their wage bill ? No we don’t so enough of this nonsense FSG need to sign all 3 players up to new contracts or they need to piss off and sell the club.

Arsenal had a net spend of about 20m this summer. They also sold quite a few of their first team squad players and saved a lot in wages. Some of their better players are nearing contract renewals. They will want better deals. The money has to come from somewhere.

People forget that Virgil said before the season that he wanted to see how the transition to Slot went before thinking about the future. It is plausible to think that both Salah and Trent have thought the same. And Slot as well, he wanted to asses the players himself. And it was not obvious last year that Salah had this season start in him. My guess is that club actually decide this contracts now and start negotiations.

We did the same stupid thing last time his contract was up. We signed NOBODY in the Summer, then FSG acted like re-signing Salah at $450k a week was some sort of generous 'we're listening to the fans' act which is nonsense and we're gonna do it again aren't we? He was the 2nd best Right 'Winger' in the world behind Messi last time and this time he's arguably no.1. Who cares that he's 31, LOOK AT HIS BODY, LOOK AT HIS UNDERLYING STATS, LOOK AT HIS PERFORMANCES! We're acting like it's the early 2000's, for someone as fit, capable and skilled as Salah he'll STILL be the best right winger in the league at 34, and by 35 MAYBE he'll be 2nd behind Saka and even that's not definite. Jesus Fing CHRIST this is annoying. PLUS we were offered 200m for him by Saudi last Summer. If we let the best RW in the world go on a free we're f***ing morons.

Who cares about the resale value? Keeping vvd and mo for 2-3 years and them performing to similar levels is worth way more than 75-100 mill combined you might get for them. Way way more.

With a lot of those players who got contracts and became shit they got long term contracts of 5 years Mo probably only wants 2 maybe 3 he signed a 3 year deal last time so I don’t see the problem with playing him and even he he does become shit (he won’t because he is salah) you always have the Saudi factor to come into play. Liverpool might have wondered if Salah's injury was going to continue to hamper him scoring like at the end of last season. Liverpool might have wondered if there was going to be a year or two of transition after Klopp. Liverpool might have wondered if Slot would work at all. Under those circumstances, Salah might have been seen as an expensive salary to maintain while the team wasn't being competitive. It might have tied up their salary budget too much. BUT the team are firing better now than ever. Yes, only 3 matches, but pre-season also saw lots of nice wins, including over Utd and Arsenal. Hopefully, they are doing the maths to now support a title challenge.

Once upon a time Redmen's paul was a fair main !!! He used to look at things as an unbiased person. Look what he has become!! Redmen get all the acess and interviews through siding by fsg !! I don't think paul is capable of being a true judge of the situation !! Look what he is saying !! It is funny that he is eager to sell salah when he is the biggest player in lfc !! Offer him a two year deal with an option for a third if he is still performing in two years time. All good players end their careers eventually and we shouldn't let Mo leave for free if there is a possibility for get a fee from Saudi. Also sign Virgil and Trent up.

Mo has been involved in every goal so far this season, was involved in 40 last season, maybe more, in the PL even at his age, it's him a Haaland, at CB, right now again, despite his age VVD is the best in the PL, and TAA, right now, this season, best in the league at his position, FSG are letting us down here

Nobody is irreplaceable, but it's good professional sports practice to reward your best players. It's set up a good work culture. Players know that if put in the work they will get paid. Give Salah a 2 year deal at 400,000 a week.

We're not even good at signing players. We let the Zubimendi deal drag out for two weeks instead of just locking him or moving on. We let the deal for Mamardashvili drag out for about 2 weeks too. We signed one player when we needed 2 or 3.
