Maybe this makes me cringy idk.But whenever I looked for survival games I looked for games that gave me the same excitement I had when i first played Minecraft

I remember streaming this game early in the game and i met a dev in my stream. He taught me how to build bases and told me about certain features that I didn't know existed. Would love to meet him today.

I played it too for a few months, but after some time many players left and the servers died out. Only a few were left and most players were toxic and very young.

Just going off the steam charts, it looks like a redemption video may be in order!

I feel like the game was really boring on normal servers, it said in the description of the game that it is hardcore survival and when i first joined a server and realised u don't lose items upon death, it was a total letdown. Luckily i found full loot servers (u drop everything upon death) and that fixed the game so much for me, it really felt exciting when u had to farm for a long time to get a m4 and the feel that u could lose it really made me fall in love, but for me what ruined it was the fact that only like 20 people played full loot and also that they didn't add the new content. I think if they made it all full loot it wouldve been actually hardcore and more fun for all the players, since i don't get how u can play without having any risk, i play to get an adrenaline rush, not to talk to squeakers and grind without any risk.

These early access games, or games "released" (you can purchase while not so called finished" when in alfa or beta mode, is because the developer wants to cash out as early as possible, without being accountable at all. While the game is in "progress", the devs can skip being criticized, and rake in cash do to hype. When the game is come to a state where the developer needs to use resources that are beyond their abillity, or beyond their resources, or beyond "profitabillity". The game is more or less being abandond, or later down the lane being so called released without any big development. Early access is as bad consumer practice as possible for the consumer, while the developer can cash in ideas not proper augmentet to the real world.

3 years later. the game is still in a bad spot. with lack of updates. its a shame because the game was fun

2020/2021 The game is completely abandoned. Devs took money from the sale of the game and ran away. They don't respond to any questions on the steam community or emails, they just disappeared. Last update was in January 2020. - Nowadays the game is completely unplayable. There is a lot of cheaters on both versions of the game. Players build houses in the rocks, under a map and they hide their items 100k meters above the ground. I tried many times to quit the game but I keep coming back. Fun fact: Polish community decided to take matters into their own hands and created their own Hurtworld launcher with their own anticheat. I hope they can save this game. I fell in love with it. I kinda miss survival games, Most of them sucked but you got gems like DayZ and Rust and H1Z1 JS (for a while it was good) just so bored of battle royale at this point. What happened to building a base and coming across strangers and stuff damn

Hurtworld V2 launched today. Free to existing users. Massive overhaul.

Hurtworld was great right when it came out. We had a little group and made friends with some of the neighbors, and we'd have each other's backs. The community was actually decent, and most players tended to be a bit older and more mature. What really set the game apart from the rest was that the devs were insanely responsive. There were a handful of times where the devs would even join into the game and hang out with us so we could show them bugs that we'd found. They'd record it on their end, say thanks, and then we'd see something about the issue in the patch notes immediately. They were responsive and communicative on the subreddit, too, but that eventually changed. They blocked all of us on Steam, they abandoned the subreddit, and they fired their community manager. Their reasoning was that players were too "toxic" and that it had all of them in the office severely depressed. In other words, a bunch of 12 year olds bullied the devs out of the community. When that happened, rather than just appointing a few people on the subreddit as admins to control the bullshit and promote positive critique and increase community engagement, they abandoned their players. The game died within a month. Hurtworld had so much potential. I fucking miss the shit out of that game. But the updates never came, their "progress" has been laughable, and they continue to refuse to communicate with their dwindling playerbase. Fuck those devs. They LITERALLY allowed children to bully them out of their own project--and I'm not making this up. It was an official post. Fucking insanity.

I loved hurtworld! My problem and the reason i quit playing it wasnt mainly the lack of content. But it was that they started to over-complicate things and mechanics. When i bought it was a fun survival game that was easy to pick up and play. No recoil patterns you had to learn, no advanced building , it was just simple. Then they started to complicate the mechanics etc. I just want a simple survival game thats easy to pick up and you dont have to be worried about getting raided every night. Sure 100% accurate when jumping with a bolt action rifle might be unrealistic and weird, but man is it fun. Got so many clips from Hurtworld where i just jumped and popped someone in the head. It felt like Rust legacy for a while... sad it died.

Ive had about 400 hours in this game and this was one of the most fun games I’ve ever played. I loved it from the beginning, I met a lot of people that I started playing with consistently and we had a great fun together. Sadly this won’t ever come back

I have spent so much time playing this game when it first came out, thought this would be the best survival game, but audio in the game was awful, bunch of bugs where you would fall one feet and literally die, food and item duplicating where it would literally brake the game because people were able to duplicate c4's and raid every single building, Later on i noticed that russians have overtaken the game that's where it mainly died.

We'll see. Rust did a similar thing moving from Legacy to experimental to current. Hopefully Hurtworld can pull it off at least half as well as Rust did.

That is the danger of releasing an early access game, there is not enough content and being there and constantly reminding players to wait for months or years; hurtworld is a perfect example of this. Fantastic video

Sorry robo but I have to disagree, the dev team is super small and the v2 they're working on is amazing for how small the team is the community is still quite large with there being about 3-4 servers with 100+ players on v1 during the weekends (although most players are large polish clans) the game is still super fun even for my small team of 3 the rush of killing these players and hearing them rage is music to my ears!

I remember me and my brother playing this game for hours everyday for a month or two, we got bored. Servers we played on died, and we still had nothing to play since rust legacy was removed.

I really do miss this game. Thank you for making this video

"Unique Qualities" ... " focused on survival " and "fun" pretty unique for Survival games huh?

i really really hope you read this but you can blame America there's a long story i wont go into but at one point in time Australia was one of the biggest producer of video games America didn't like that so they to this day actively keep the industry suppressed in Australia in the case of companies like Valve and EA they will buy the game studio then close them down that's pretty much the easiest thing for them to do but there's another much nasty way and that's something called price gouging (when something costs an extravagant amount with no real reason behind it) its very expensive to make games in Australia because a lot of game development software comes from the US and they can sometimes charge 15X the amount to Australians than what Americans pay and for companies like Autodesk they actually have causes in their terms of service that state Australians need to make games using software sold to the Australian Market it specifically states if you were to buy something like Maya 3d from the EU then make games in Australia with it they will take you to court and shut your studio down this isn't talked about outside of Australia because no one probably knows that it's happening but if you get people talking it can help

I spent 1.3k hours on Hurtworld, I enjoyed the farming, building, exploring and helping other new players out but its not the same anymore. This was one of my favorite survival games of all time. Hopefully it will make a come back soon but for now I guess I'm stuck playing Rust.

I write this as somebody with well over 2k hours on Hurtworld, the issue with the game isn't anything to do with the game. The game is pretty fun, if the game had Rust's devs or even any other devs who were slightly enthusiastic about anything other than money from the get go. Hurtworld probably wouldn't have bombed in such a spectacular fashion, the Devs lied to their community so many times I lost count, promising things that weren't feasible or possible, they ignored the communities input about glitches and issues that have been around since v2 launched and their game completely died.

No survival game can top rust

Brought the game a few months on humble as a key for 15 bucks when it was on sale, it looked great and I was like "Why not?" less than 1 hour into the game I quit as it was basically a dead wasteland with a huge map and extremely confusing for new players. Less than 1k people would play, and it was horribly optimized. Unfortunately, it was a key so the chances of refunding it were nill. Hopefully, the devs come back to fix the game as it has SO MUCH potential.

loved this fuckin game, they pulled what rust did completely ditching the original game and working on "experimental" which imo sucks. At least rust did good with experimental, that is what made rust so popular today.

I LOVED THIS GAME AND WAS VARY EXCITED FOR ITEMS V2 TO COME OUT UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT IT WOULD JUST BE AN UPDATE THAT ADDED SCOPES, ARMOR, AND WEAPONS. BUT WHEN IT CAME OUT IT CHANGED THE GAME AS A WHOLE MAKING IT UNPLAYABLE AND UN-FUN WITH CRAFTING TABLES NOT BEING ADDED HALTING PROGRESS TO THE LATE GAME, THE GAME BECAME LAGGY AND HARDER TO RUN, AND THE DEVS MADE IT SO YOU HAD TO HAVE LIKE 3 MASHENES AND A BLUEPRINT TO CRAFT THE FIRST BOW IN THE GAME. IN THE END I FOUND THAT THE DEVS DONT LESSEN TO THE PLAYER BASE AND THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT PLAY ANYMORE DONT SPEAK ENGLISH

Why h1z1 failed? 99% chance he wont respond

I haven't played Hurtworld but by the sounds of it Rust isn't much better. I got bored of Rust after 1 month. My team built a big base, went to most monuments, raided a bunch of nearby bases and felt that's all there was to it. Needs more content.

I remember, I played this but never got past basic metal tools and a small stone base before I stopped playing it. But one of my first nights, I had nothing but a pickaxe and spear, and I was freezing. I wandered, sure of death, when I found a saint. He was sitting next to a fire and gave me clothes, an axe, and a pistol and I never saw him again.

This kinda bugs me with Hunt:Showdown. I played the game in Alpha release and even got my hands on a key from devs on this "Full" release. By "Full" I mean, publicly avalible for purchase. Sadly there was so little stuff added, I'm really woried that Crytek even with their problems won't hold up any longer. You see... for the first few times you spawn in, you almost instantly get swallowed by the atmosphere of the game. Where every bit of sound means something... you rush to your nearest cover and look around and wonder if you should just go after the nearest clue or just wait out a bit and see what's gonna happend. Now you've probably killed few monsters and even some players if you are lucky to spot them first... now you've found all the clues to the boss and you've managed to get into his lair... you slowly take him down, still paranoid some players might be waiting right around the corner or just at the extraction points. Well, boss is dead and banished, you've picked up the loot, rushed to the nearest EP and with some luck or skill managed to get away... but what now? Your hunter is now leveled up, can take one more shot into his body and probably heals a bit faster or can hold additional tools/weapons. You just go and play again only to find that if not hacker then normal player that've spotted you faster and played it cool until you made mistake. One shot to the face and you've lost everything. With anger you buy a new hunter, start over with a vengence and do the same thing again... and again... and again... and again... To the point where you start to hate everything about the game that holds you from unleasing all the hatered aganist other players that've killed you. You start to loose more money and almost always buy new hunter with the same gear and almost never even think what's next item to unlock... Since the release there was NOTHING new added, roadmap on their website promise awesome things... but with this pace we won't get any of it. I've already made achievements for killing everyone on the server, solo killed both bosses and ran away with the loot, had more than 200 kills on monsters in one game... maxed out few hunters, even finished the game only with a knife (that was around 100 monster kills, spider kill and one unlucky player that had a crash or dissconnected right when he shot at me) Either way, there is nothing new for me, it's only grinding xp and with their hell of a broken xp mechanic you almost always want to die because you will get more xp to your bloodline rank instead to the hunter and get only so few xp to the bloodline from hunter's level. Sadly there are no informations how long into the new update, when there's gonna be new stuff added... nothing. One optimalization patch released that gave me around 5 FPS boost and that's that. I understand there was really, REALLY alot of work and I really adore the sound design of the game. Every sound you hear MEANS something, every sound YOU make... makes YOU voulnerable and only after tens of hours you can use this sound design to your advantage. Shoothing Hives near other players from a distance with a silenced revolver makes their sneak approach ruined and if it's in a later stage of the game, they are most likely to be targeted by other players if they are nearby. You can shoot at bunch of crows really afar with again silenced pistol so players think there's someone yet you've already sneaked behind them with the most evil smile on your face... How the fuck did I ended up writing all of this... nobody's gonna read through this mumble and probably really badly written feels about this game... hell I don't even know english that well... Either way, I don't want to let this game die like Hurtworld, Rust, DayZ or even H1Z1. I will stay with this game until the servers turn off or I'll die. As I've said... sound design is so unique and well thought through ... that playing Hunt:Showdown without sound feels like taking girl from a second or even third date to your place, lit up all the candles, put on the smooth jazz music and slowly make your wait after her into the bedroom only to open a bag of chips and play Sonic 2006.

Man, this hurts to watch, Hurtworld is one of my favorite games but now its just dead and its just not as fun anymore with average of 6 people on a server and deceasing. I just don't get that jingle out of the game anymore and its sad, me and my friends used to play this game everyday after school because it was fun, now its not. I just left playing a month ago and i was super sad and had no other game to play. I just wish some how Hurtworld gets its player pop back just some how (if for some reason a dev is watching this is for you, 3 YEARS, 3 FUCKING YEARS AND YOU STILL HAVEN'T RELEASED ITEM V2? I feel like this is an extremely common trend within new games. It’s a bit like people running a race, if you sprint at first (release tons of new content and bug fixes) you’ll get way ahead, but eventually tire out and have to stop (updates slow down to a near stop).

After watching a lot of your videos I've started to wonder, what does it mean for a game to fail? Is a game from say the 90s a failure because no one plays it any longer? Some games just don't have enough content or enough players to sustain a playbase. However, many games seek to emulate games like minecraft, not just because it was popular, but because minecraft isn't really driven by new content, it's the players themselves. You made a lot of these points in the videos, but it's kind of sad to see it play out. Games like sea of thieves continue to made. And while their is nothing wrong with the game itself, it's just that it's pretty much designed to be carried by a community. These games, often times, are hit or miss, but then again, that's probably why games like these continue to be made- people yearn for those "glory day" of minecraft with their friends, but unfortunately going back into the past isn't possible ;(

Hey, I just found your channel and I really appreciate this video. I played this game constantly in its early stages and I think it's actually the game that really got me into gaming. I have a bit over 300 hours, but I have friends who have over 3000. I really hated to see this game lose its player base and it was quite disheartening to see the updates slow, and eventually stop. I personally agree with your analysis that the game grew dry after a while, and that is why I eventually stopped playing it. However, I do somewhat disagree with your statements about just how little there was in this game. When I was playing this game, I found tons of different ways to play that were always new and exciting. This ranged from pulling an all-nighter with a friend to rack up nearly a hundred kills each before dying to playing Hot Potato with C4 to buying my own server and building a structure so large I have never seen any other 1/4 of its size. This game had a lot of potential, and I was really sad to see the devs spending so much time on v2, which I never even liked. The game only had 5-6 biomes (depending on how you look at it), but I felt like it really wouldn't have been very difficult for the devs to just add more, or even an entirely different map. Once again, thank you for making this video and I really appreciate all of the effort you put into videos like this.

i still miss the good ol days where me and some friends played this game, it was extremely fun but as you said all the hype died because no updates were being added. a month ago i found this game again and decided to play it. there were hardly any servers with 5 + people. most servers had 1 person or just no players on them. its sad to see such a great game die down because the devs

i remember getting offline raided in this game, and then making good friends with the dude who raided me the day after, he even showed me the cliff he used to get onto the roof and how i could fix it. the community was absolutely amazing (mostly)
