The Air 4 is definitely the better choice, though a lot of people have pointed out the uses for this one for education and fleet, and when you think of it like that then all the changes start making a little more sense. For personal use though, I'd even go for the Air 5 over this. Especially if you're concerned that in the future there will be M series exclusive updates, like apple tried to do with os 16. The Air 5 will always be the cheapest M1 device out there.

I only get iPads every couple of years so I’m upgrading to this iPad. Im currently using my iPad 6th generation from 2018. I also have a Apple Pencil 1. I’m waiting to see if we get any Black Friday sales or promotions. I want it now lol!!!

Someone I know just got this iPad and it is literally perfect especially for the money these days.

Yeah I was really looking forward to the iPad 10 at first because of the redesign but I think just going go with iPad Air 4 or 2018 11” Pro. I wanted a cheap iPad for light drawing, graphic design, maybe some photo/video editing but mainly writing scripts and short stories on the go. I do think changing the camera position to landscape is great. Though surprised it didn’t come to iPad Pros first. I don’t think I ever had my pro in portrait lol.

I upgraded from the 12.9 pro first gen. That being said I have the Apple Pencil 1 still so this was the perfect upgrade 256g plus its pink I’ve been waiting for this!

Got the Logitech Crayon to go with the Ipad 10 base model and it works great. Loved the video!

I’ve been contemplating between iPad Air 4th gen and iPad 10. I’m kinda scared to spend $400 plus for the iPad Air without the one year warranty if I get it from Amazon refurbished. I’ve decided that I would spend the extra $40 and get the refurbished iPad Air 4th gen from the Apple website. I was about to purchase the air for 469 refurbished at Apple when I saw the 10th gen iPad has reduced its price from 449 to 419. I went with the iPad 10th gen then.

Honestly, if someone needs an iPad with a low price… the iPad 9th Gen is still available as well, since I know that some people do not trust refurbished products. Perhaps Apple knew that the price rise might be a deal breaker for some when it came to their 10th Gen, since the 9th Gen keeps it’s spot as the cheapest iPad in the current iPad lineup sold by Apple. And the 9th Gen is still a solid deal, if you can look past it having the old design, since it is still one of the best tablets on the market with how it runs.

In Europe (or at least in Slovakia) the price increase is more than 50%! 9th gen when it initially came out was 379€ and this one is 579, which is only 100€ cheaper than M1 Air

You can’t charge the Apple Pencil 2 if you move the camera to the landscape side of the iPad Air/Pro

You are one of the few real top reviewers in RU-vid, all the other RU-vidrs don’t recommend used or refurbished products because that doesn’t bring apple money. Yes the air 4 is just a better buy, anyone with a brain will understand that.

I like the new camera placement on the iPad 10, but at the price and with the features available, I also think the iPad Air 4 is the one to go with for people in the market for a new iPad.

I literally wrote down the pros and cons of this iPad 10th Gen and an iPad Air. Mind you I would be upgrading from an iPad 7th Gen. So far…the 10th Gen pros outweighs the Air… but we will see. I specifically love the landscape front cam. Which means I don’t have to use my computer for video calls.

8:09 thats when they lost me, I have an Ipad gen 6 and used it when I went back to college and was the best investment of my life, I was afraid at first I would got the tablet and would never use for learning, but that shit actualy replaced everything, from books to pc, except my notebook because to use some of the dev tools I needed windows and the Ipad dont do virtual machines. I would buy this one just to upgrade, but, having to buy a dongle to the pen(that I have already) bumped me out. I might still buy it, but I might go Air this upgrade. hope they never stop making the main line ipad, thats great for students.

1. 8:30 Not laminated screen is NOT the reason why they only have Pencil Gen 1 support. Gen 1 came out with Gen 1 12.9” iPad Pro in 2015, which had a fully laminated screen. 2. Obviously, Gen 10 iPad would’ve cannibalised iPad Air 5 sales if it had Gen 2 Pencil so they removed the magnetic charging and just put the front facing camera up there.

In India it costs, 542USD, whereas the 9th gen is 372USD, which offers much more overall value, especially for students and businesses. ₹45000 is heck a lot for many.

It is weird Apple redesigned a new panel and form factor for a base model. I wonder if Apple is going to re-align the sizing on the Air on up to the Ipad “Ultra”. Which would also be why they created new accessories as well.

Which would you suggest for my 7 year old (Kinder) who does school works (zoom, and homework as if its a laptop), and for watch and gaming? I'm stuck between iPad 10th gen and iPad air 5th gen.

Samsung Tab is using front facing camera at top in landscape mode. It is not using the sensor on that side. (landscape mode). I tried it right now.

Apple can’t put the camera in landscape mode because of the pencil it needs to change on the side that is the only place it’s can change so I don’t think they will do is for the future iPad

The iPad 10th looks great actually and I really don’t mind not having magnetic charging, but my 6th is still running strong plus I just got then M2 air which is better for my work. If is not about budget I will always recommend Macbook over IPad.

Outside the US the iPad has become very expensive for user. Appl made a lot of weird decision with these ipads. You might as well get a renewed ipad air 4.

They can’t move the camera on the air or the pro because there won’t be a place to charge the pencil. All of the tablets would have to go back to the Apple Pencil 1 with a goofy adapter

The new front camera placement you love is one of rage main reasons for lack of Apple Pencil 2 support. It’s new location is where the Apple Pencil 2 charger would be.

The Gen 1 pencil is for schools and people who already have it, the non-laminated display is cheaper to repair because of the air gap which especially schools would love, and the smart connectors being placed this way is probably because you can't expect the most basic iPad to have support for keyboards like the Magic Keyboard. That would then defeat their purpose. Overall, if you're on a budget, if you have kids, if you videocall a lot, this would be great. Even for the average consumer, this tablet is a power-house and even more reliable than a Galaxy Tab S series since Apple is in full control. Stop all of this.

Apple probably has a non laminated screen on the 10th generation iPad because of the education market. It is a lot easier to replace a broken iPad screen when it is not laminated. This is an important selling point for the education market. Eventually this 10th generation iPad will come down in price and replace the ninth generation iPad as the lowest priced option.

the point of new keyboard is you can detach it, and use iPad as tablet wihout keyboard. In the keyboard cases where are case and keyboard together you can detach iPad from case, but in that moment you dont have a stand and no protection. I think this keyboard is good move. I got it on my Samsung tab and it is the best thing.

Went to Apple store. IPads all had Pencils. All the ones for the 10th gen iPads were dead. lol'd.

this is the most unintuitive lineup of the ipad ever. in an effort to upgrade the ipad it ended up being way too close to the higher end ipads and ruining their segmentation and confusing their customers. they should’ve dropped the useless “air” moniker and ditched the old ipad. at this point the production process should’ve been cheap enough to justify everything. keep the mini and the pros and we’ll have four ipads to choose from.

This ipad is a great addition to the lineup. I like how they kept the 9th gen at the same price despite global inflation. And for users that want a sleeker design, bigger screen, and speakers, they can opt for the 10th gen.

The price increase of the IPad to $449 for only 64 GB makes the Tab S8 seem like a much better deal because you can get a 256 GB Tab S8 on Amazon for around $599 with the pen included. If you can get over Android OS not having all apps optimized for it, there’s no question that Samsung tablets are a far better value. Also, the Tab S series had the front camera in landscape mode for a long time. Apple was behind for years because of the placement of the camera.

iPads have a targeted user audience just like iPhones and MacBooks. Built for education and professional Artists. 1. A large number of the 10 will be going to replace the 9 at Elementary and Middle Schools. 2. Laminated displays are expensive to repair. See no 1 and THINK. 3. LRD non laminated, looks great , has a low repair cost, & doesn’t require an Apple Tech to install.

Base price for the new spec bump10th generation iPad at $ 449.00. It is less than the original $ 499.00 2010 iPad when adjusted for inflation would now be $ 679.22 on the launch date of the 10th generation iPad. The USB 2 speed of the IEC 62680 USB C style port on the new iPad is major fail on Apples part when they could put a USB20 port in this device as the specification has been out for sometime. You pundit rant about things like the "Dreaded Notch", and the "bezel size" that just do not matter to normals. Thing is normals will notice slow transfer rates. Also for the pencil feel third party is going to be the solution. The Apple generation one pencil just "Sucks Big Time" with having to use an adapter to charge it. Might have been okay with a USB C plug end in place of the Lighting plug end. Still have to plug it into the NEW iPad the same way as before, however would not need an adapter/cable solution. If Apple keeps the $ 329.00 9th generation iPad in the lineup think the sales of the new 10th generation might tank.

Was waiting for it now not so much after the big price hike. Will wait for a sale and see. I’ll take the $ and spend it on the SE watch that went down in price.

Couldn’t the samsung tab s8 do the same thing as the iPad 10 for much less money in the uk right now you can buy the samsung tab s8 for £529 before trade in for me if i traded in my air 4 i could pick up the tab for £300 ish once trade in happened. However what troubles me is the longevity of the tab i think apple are seriously in danger of out pricing themselves sticking a £100.00 on each model that hasn’t really got many improvements from last year is wrong especially when you need to buy new accessories to. I think when samsung release their 2023 models i may be converted.

No matter how ALL YT reviewers justify this new 10th gen. iPad it will not work simply because … after removing the the lightning port for charging the tablet what makes it so confusing is that they maintain the apple pencil gen. 1 with lightning charging pin … and to crash your cash/card/bank again … you have to buy … ANOTHER dongle just to charge the pencil ??? What is this Apple ??? And … another cash/card/bank killer is that Apple created the iPad smart folio exclusive for 10th gen. iPad ?!? That’s another reason to put your palm on your forehead or scratching your head again !!! Unlike the Magic Keyboard that you can use both iPad Air and the Pro’s as well as the pencil gen. 2 that supports … mini, air and pro’s ?!?.
