I'm also a firm believer age has a lot to do with your perspective on gold and two-tone, and yes I 100% agree mid 30s to early 40s is the perfect time to be getting into it. When you see people younger wearing a two-tone or a gold watch or one of the trilogy brand watches, it just doesn't look right, regardless of their financial status. A watch's look has to be earned, not financially, but with age.
Hey, im 18, got a working business and can afford the bluesy. I really like it but i don't understand why y'all think that there is a age for two tones watches?
Absolutely gorgeous piece, Michael. The Bluesy is the one Rolex that literally is just about perfect. The blue sunburst, framed with that two-tone Oyster bracelet, is the quintessential timepiece. Look great on your wrist and congrats on the piece!
Couldn't agree wth you more. You and I sound like we're very much at a similar stage. I just picked up my 12-series 41mm bluesy, new from the AD five days ago. Very much in the honeymoon period too, but it's one I've wanted for nearly 20 years. Like you though: the time wasn't right. Till now. Salute!
I agree 💯......I was 41 when I got my Bluesy.... I was celebrating a property sale that almost went sideways a dozen times....a very stressful year....a few days after the property sale Rolex called and offered me the Bluesy .....I had a lot of the same hang ups as u, it was more flash than I was used to....but everything just melted when I wore this watch..... every time I wear this watch I'm transported back to that period where I stuck to my guns.....and came out on top.....it's a mature and wonderful feeling that I associate with this watch.
Love it Michael. I really do not understand how people can pay as much or more for a plain steel version of any watch you can get in two tone. I’m lucky enough to have Skydweller and Rootbeer and they are both nicer than the steel versions imo.
I agree, I too have the rootbeer, Skydweller, both subs, Pepsi, Batman, green gmt, and a vintage 1987 gmt. Fortunately I have been purchasing from a few AD'S for over 35 years and it's payed off.
Interesting, I felt like a fraud wearing a Sub No Date 114060. Eventually sold it, but now I am at a point where I think that if I feel like a fraud wearing a regular Sub, then I might as well just pick up my dream watch, the bluesy. I am just a regular dude, regular job, not anything special. I am done reasoning my way out of buying the bluesy. Like «gold is too much for a daily wear», or «it will look like I am faking it». I am going to use it, screw what others think, if it makes me happy then that is the only thing I should care about.
A few years ago, I used to feel self conscious and pretentious when wearing a stainless steel Rolex at work , instead I wore my Tudor and Omega. Now, for some reason, I've matured in my watch journey and feel normal with wearing my stainless steel Rolex. The only issue is that now it is not as safe to wear a Rolex in public. Anyway, I agree with you that this is a journey and who knows, maybe in a few years I will be looking for a two tone. I'm finally starting to understand when other watch enthusiasts say wear your Rolex and who cares about what others think. BTW, I like your videos because you share your watch journey as a fan instead of just talking about the watch specs. Keep doing great.
It is a beautiful watch. I have been through almost every Rolex model (except the Skydweller) and bought/sold three 126613LB models until I realized the Bluesy was the one for me. So fourth time is the charm and will always be in the honeymoon phase with it. I agree with you 100% about when it’s appropriate to wear a two tone or full gold watch. I was comfortable with two tone in my 40s and as soon as my beard turned grey I went full gold Day/Date. 😂
Amazing video yet again, how you pin point on the fact that a watch can symbolize where someone is in thr journey and you can use it for you or against you, however once u taste full gold thr is absolutely no turning back!! And it actually motivates you to believe in yourself!! Winners get gold!!!🎉
Great video and similar thoughts wore the Pepsi for ten years dropped it in for the Batman, got tired of seeing black also so got the Bluesey with the Smurf dial , love it seems more modern than the sunburst and also more rare, haven’t looked back!

Gold adds warm notes, more light play to the watch. Love the Bluesy. It's way more better than a SS subs (including Hulk - "cold", pale watch) and much better value proposition. Myself...sold my 116613lb sub and got TT Sky-Dweller black dial. Level up watch, love it. But keep thinking of the Bluesy))) want to get it back to my collection. Certainly will do it in future. Can't go wrong with any Bluesy. Pros and Cons with all the models, buy what appeals to you. I've got the vanilla steel Sub Date ceramic version 1 and it's nice to compare and contrast dimensions with the new Bluesy. You can readily get a Bluesy now direct from an AD. The price projection for 7 years time is £20K+ the price of gold is only going up as are Rolex annual price increases. If you're buying for keeps you can’t go wrong. If you buy this model and sell it quickly you’ll get burned in todays post COVID hype adjustment back to normality.
Like you say it's a journey all us watch fans are on think most people start with the steel options then as you get older and your tastes change , Think you become more comfortable in your choices, I my self have been on this journey for about 5 years and just picked up a 2 tone root beer would I have considered it 5 years ago I don't think so , Full gold still doesn't appeal to me but who knows what I may like 5 years down the road it's a journey just enjoy the ride my friend the bluesy just pops .
I just bought my first two tone and neo vintage in one. I ran into a Longines Lindbergh Hour Angle in a vintage watch shop and it fit so well that I went on the hunt for a mint version. I’m on a business trip but when I return I’ll be strapping on stainless and gold.
Love that your watching the Real Madrid highlights. Anyways the Blueesy does look good and it may be one of those watch that gets better the more you look and wear it. The blue dial and bezel in combination with the two tone have opinions on many minds, but it not common to see many around which is good imo. I bought my first daydate at 32 more of an accomplishment vs. liking it. The initial "honey money" wore off 😂. Went back to stainless and added a white gold daytona on oysterflex. I'm looking to add a bluesy now 😅 to have some non stealth wealth at a bargain
I think you’re over thinking it 😂. If you can afford it then you can own it…no real other ‘requirement” IMO. People that go into debt for anything (luxury item I mean… not a refrigerator or stove, etc - a necessity). Congrats on the purchase! I’m a little biased, 116613LB owner here as well. 🙌🏼
I just bought my brand new Bluesy 2 weeks ago from my great local authorized Rolex dealer. He got me this very hard to get watch in an unbelievable just one day. The reason I got this beautiful watch is because in my eyes it is the most beautiful Rolex watch. This is very subjective of course, your taste could be quite different than mine. My model is the Rolex Submariner Blue Model M126613lB-0002 with the 2-tone OysterSteel and 18K gold bracelet. Its current retail price in the USA is $15,600.00. Three years ago in 2020 its retail price was $14,300.00....it has gone up by 9%. It is a super gorgeous and classy looking watch and I enjoy wearing it every single day, it hardly leaves my wrist.

I skipped the two tone and went for an 18k yellow gold 18238 Day-Date from 1989. The 36mm size is perfect to go under the radar, or as much as a full yellow gold watch can be lol. Great bluesy!
Today I got a call from my AD that after a year of wait my Sub date is ready for pick up and you tube showed me your video 😀, so I guess all about Rolex day.
Looks fantastic Michael enjoy. I bought a 126613 in the summer and love it. I sold my solid gold sub 5 digit and no regrets. I have a few 5 and 6 digit references and I think I now definitely prefer 6 digit. Enjoy it man looks great on you

I think you’re spot on dude. I have a two tone YG Dj 41 on jubilee , the bluesy and the two tone root beer. I love gold but with some contrast ( two tone) rather than a full gold watch. All gold is just too much agree ?
Im lucky enough to have purchased this watch when it first came out. I think the Smurf is stunning too, but I don't think I'd purchase another white gold rolex again. I purchased a white gold skyweller, and then they made it in steel. I nearly purchased the white gold pepsi, and then the steel came out.
It's a keeper for me. congrats awesome!.. two tone is much more fashionable now than it used to be and can be worn daily IMO.. all gold is for certain settings and can be too loud.. that's why Rose gold is more popular nowadays IMO, its a little more wearable..
Congrats on the new piece. Can you do a video on the steps you go through when purchasing a used watch? Verifying seller/authenticity of watch, how/where a transaction occurs (cash, etc), receipt/bill of sale, etc.
Nice review. And I agree with you, a watch like that it should only be worn when you reach a certain stage in life. But you are all over the place. Your feelings seem to shift all over the place for no reason that you understand.
Congratulations on your new watch mate. I never thought of it like that, that living in a sunny climate makes a difference in how a watch feels on you style wise. I am assuming you're in Dubai, and its safe to wear any watch out there? UK you have to be cautious.
Breitling? For some reason it is no longer on the radar and I can't say why, perhaps they're a gateway watch? Your 1033 was amazing and I can't agree with your take. Love the 12 bluesy though, although I have to admit I question my right to wear one as odd as that seems.
i agree in parts rolex sbmariner is a great watch but for me is a same look in diferent categories but i prefer panerai watches is more choices and beter look than rolex but i respect your choice and enjoy your new sub cheers
For me personally I am just not into the bling of gold. I think I just get too self conscious about wearing it, it's just not me. I've owned a two tone Datejust and 16613 Bluesy though. I almost always dressed them down with a nice leather strap. My wife just got the CHNR and I put that on a leather strap too if I wear it. I do have the 126619LB white gold Sub, but you know that looks like steel, so I am fine with that. Next on my list is the all rose gold 40mm Yacht-Master. Gold, but toned down a lot with the matte black dial, matte bezel, and matte Oysterflex. That's got to be the most toned down gold watch that Rolex sells. I love it, gotta see if I can live with it and wear it though!
Loved my hulk dial but the stainless feels a bit light. The bluesy looks amazing in person. Picked one up from AD and is something special. Totally get you on full gold…I would feel like a fraud as my lifestyle def doesn’t warrant it. Two tone has contrast and balance… perfect aesthetics 👍
What a watch man ! Do not sell it, you will regret for sure. Impression is totally different from regular Submariner. Plus blue color combination with gold letters on the dial really giving some vintage feeling, new version seems to be little bit diluted with white writing on the dial. I forgot to mention bracelet, new one is almost like on Sea Dweller, clasp extremely wide. This one is well balanced and with taste.

I have almost all sport rolo in steal. If one day I would go on 2 tones it would be a dayto: more thinner, more dressy, more apropiate for 2 tones IMHO

I've got a silly story on this. One evening I was drinking and feeling great about myself. I went on eBay and was looking at watches (don't do this when you're drinking, it won't end well). I saw the gold CASIO A168 and drunk brain goes to me "oh fuck yeah mate you can pull that off. BUY IT!" So I bought it, I mean it's only a CASIO, costs nothing, so who cares? Next morning, regret about my purchase. Full gold what was I thinking. I couldn't wear it if someone paid me to lmao. I offered it to my sister as a gift. In my eyes, it's just more acceptable for a woman to wear gold like that for some reason. Two-tone are fine if you can pull it off, but full gold is sketch imo. Not sure anyone who isn't celebrity/pro-athlete level can pull them off tbh.

I have a Captain in my merchant mariner company who has one of these and it's an eye catcher(a looker). As watch guy, It's funny to see other people on the bridge eye banging the watch, for lack of better word, when they don't anything about the watch. Video and pictures just don't do it justice compare to seeing it live.
You need to think about skin tones when getting into gold & Id say rose would sit better against your tone. Yachtmaster or Gmt 2-tones would look better.
Sounds like you are starting to sell yourself on a full gold watch to me 😊Had to add that as you know it’s a very heavy piece.. But it’s heavy luxury and you will love that heavy.. Feel a little uncomfortable about yourself loving it but give yourself a break and enjoy the experience..
