The best antenna for helium mining is always a RAK Wireless 8dbi omnidirectional. I say this in the most general terms because 3.5 + 3.5 = 7. So I want to be above 7. And that means 8dbi works. 3.5db is the attenuation of 3.5" of brick at 900 mhz. So if I need to break through two walls, my house and their house, then I'm looking at a loss of at least 7db. So 8dbi works. But that's also probably why the FCC limits the helium signal to 9dbi. If I don't understand attenuation properly you're welcome to beat me up in the comments.
