WHY I CHOSE LPN OVER RN SCHOOL 

They say third times a charm, am officially a nurse 🎉🎉 for all my repeat test takers don't give up and don't be discouraged.

I’m a LPN just finished the RN program. I am glad I chose the LPN route first. It’s helped with school I was familiar with various medications etc, and I was able to make good money working PRN as an LPN while in nursing school for my RN.

Hi I’m starting LPN school in the spring of 23’ i’ve wasted so much time getting into the RN program with trying to pass my prerequisite classes. And they were very difficult for me so with the lack of knowledge of universities and how everything works. I wasted so much time and money when I could’ve just went straight into LPN which is in a year + instead of wasting 2 years of core classes!

Me and your stories are very similar. My first nursing program was ADN and I failed out. My second program was BSN and the commute was so far so I withdrew. Both schools were very expensive and time consuming. Now I’m at a community college starting LPN program in the fall Best decision ever

For all of you LPN’s/LVN’s watching this video, I salute you, because I’m your LVN sister. Love you all! I thought that I’m the only LVN, who still wants to be a RN, but is having a hard time getting into a RN or BSN program, because of bad academic history. However, despite of LVN/LPN’s cannot EAT (Evaluate, Assess, Teach. So I’ve heard from my fellow LVN/LPT (licensed psych tech) colleagues), I’m proud of the fact that I’m a better nurse than some RN’s I work and worked with. Case in point, I know how to do an EKG. Lots of licensed nurses refuse to do EKG, because they are scared of putting those leads in the wrong place on the chest I’ve had RN’s who refuse to pass meds, because they rely on the med nurse or another licensed nurse to do all the med passing. If any of us LVN/LPN/LPT do become RN’s, yeah! RN School is tougher to get into and do once in the program, but once we get our RN licenses, complete whatever orientation time our hospitals to allow us to have. I get a feeling that we will be more comfortable to do whatever procedure the doctor orders us to do. I also hope that we all will remain humble and down to earth about our success as RN’s. I met former and present colleagues let their new RN titles get to their head, and they become conceited, arrogant RN’s.

You are doing great. Most people do not make it pass prerequisites; A&P. You can always go from LPN to RN.

I also Enrolled in an LVN program here in Los Angeles CA, It's still granting a Associates degree.. But as an ASN/LVN.17 MONTHS....great Career. Wether or not we are LVN or ADN or BSN. we're all still Nurses It's a great career no matter how we go about it..

I’m in California and it’s extremely difficult to go straight to RN here; they’re extremely impacted and competitive. I completed prerequisites with a 3.9 GPA and 89.3 on the TEAS and still didn’t get accepted to all the RN programs I applied to. Now I’m becoming a CNA and then LVN before RN

This is perfect. Lpn is ok for me. Forget the hype can't wait to start. I have no desire to go to school further.

The end goal is RN for me but at the end of the day I’m applying to both LPN and RN programs and whoever accept me is where I’m going first 😂

I got accepted into the ADN program but I failed out by a few points so now I’m choosing to take the LPN route first to get more experience at a slower pace although LPN isn’t that much slower. Pray for me 💕 My dream job is to be a NP in the end 👩🏽‍⚕️🩺.

You hit it right on the nose. It’s June, 2022 and nursing school enrollment is all the way in August of 2023. Who the hell is waiting that long when LPN school starts September, 2022 😭 and I can be a whole nurse before then, work, save and do a bridge program full time and compete my ADN in 1 year

In Missouri LPNs can start IVs, I didn't know that was a thing that LPNs couldn't do if they didn't get the certification

I feel you, I was taking pharmacy technology on line, not for me!! At all, so you’re right in person is better, hands on is always better.

In Indiana Lpns can start iv’s. I’m shocked they can’t go they everywhere . But I’m starting Lpn school in January 💜 I’m so excited

Which state are you in that you can’t start IV’s? In AL we most definitely start IV’s there’s just certain medications we can’t push.

Mos def have to be smart and do the research.. look into those pre requisites and things so u know how to prepare yourself. Get a tutor if u need extra help.. i like the nursing field bcz of the steps. Cna/ lpn/ rn/ bsn/ NP!! Its like start where u need to start! I’m going to cna soon!! Then Lpn!

Comment #2 from me. My dream is to aspire to be a successful RN and singer, like my idol/hero/nursing sister/singing sister, Naomi Judd 😪🙏👩‍⚕️🎼🎶🎤. Since I am still a licensed NURSE, I’m more into practicing my singing on my You Tube channel. I hope that The Voice is still in the air, because I want to audition for that show again. I’m at that age that, I don’t want to go back to school to become a RN. However, I’m still thinking about getting my Bachelor’s Degree in music or film school. Of course I will continue to do my nursing job, because I love my that job too much to quit nursing for the entertainment field. That’s another reason why, for now, I’m hesitant to go to RN school.

I applied to LPN for the fall because the RN programs here my GPA wasn’t “high enough” for the science prerequisite. 3.19 GPA in science. Was about 3.3 until I did poorly in chemistry and microbiology

Hey, I have a question: what happens to your prerequisites when you switch over and go to an LPN program?

Can anyone tell me what it’s like trying to find a job without being vaccinated I really want to pursue nursing but it’s been hard finding a school because I’m not vaccinated I’m sure it’ll be the same trying to find a job in the health care industry it’s not something I believe in n I don’t plan on getting vaccinated

22, currently in school for nursing and struggling with chem, the test does not be it and there is no homework to help me balance it out. I'm already on my "2nd" try (i withdraw from chem the first time and i didn't know even tho u withdraw they still count it as a full try) and i already know it will be impossible to get into programs now so I've been really stressed out and feeling like a huge failure, especially considering I could have had my AA the end of this semester but id most likey have to take chem over again which i may not even be able to consider even tho i withdrew the first try it still counts as 2 tries already. I've been thinking of switching over to LPN. i saw it doesn't really have any similar courses as rn besides anatomy so it would be like starting all over but it is shorter and I've heard LPN is a good way to go if u really want to know if nursing is for you. i just need to make a decision.

It wasnt hard at all. Its just not for you and thats okay. Go for what makes sense to you

Will you be able to apply for another nursing school if you fail out of one school? I heard it will difficult to get accepted to another school since you failed the first one. Also, what nursing colleges did you go to? Especially, the second nursing school.

Being an LPN not a bad thing but you didn’t choose the LPN program over an ADN. You chose the LPN route because you had very little to no choice.
