I’m a single mom and in Lvn school. The reasons you did it is exactly why I chose it too! A quick way to make good money and support my little family. Plus I’ve been an aid for the last 6 years. Why not
That's awesome! You will be able to provide a decent living for them while working toward the ultimate goal, if RN is still what you want, but there is noting wrong with using your LVN license and stopping there. LVN's can make great money! good luck mama!
@@heyjustine8199 Nurse practitioner is what I want but hey.... I love healthcare. I got nothing but time to meander my way through the ranks of nursing. only 26. your great by the way!
I’m 20 with no kids but decided to join an LVN program starting in February. LVN was not my first choice tbh but the ADN and BSN programs are extremely competitive. I’m in southern California, and haven’t gotten accepted into CSUs despite having a 3.9 GPA and an 89.3 on the TEAS. Other people aren’t getting accepted despite having all As and high test scores. It seems like I need to do something to help me stand out more from other RN school applicants: getting healthcare experience, getting my foot in the door, doing something like that to increase my chances of getting into an RN school, and I’ve realized that becoming an LVN is a good stepping stone and could make me a better nurse in the long run
I'm starting lpn school in one month and I was super nervous, but I'm more excited after watching this video. I was afraid of doing nursing all together, but I had a job in the legal field for 10 years that I hated. So one day I woke up and quit my job and applied to lpn school. I have 3 small kids too (11, 5, and 1) and this is my confirmation that I made the right choice 😊
Omg, how amazing is that! ❤️ I wish you all the best and you and your kiddos will be so so proud! I hope you subscribe for more mommy/nursing videos! You will do great! 👍🏽
@syneekwa so you quit your job with 3 kids and only went to school? Did you have any support? Did u use financial aid for your bills and rent? Details girl
Such a great video!! I graduate this December with my LPN and I have an almost 2 year old baby boy. I’m doing it all for him!!! Praying I get accepted into the rn bridge program next spring 😇 you’re a great mama!
This video was very REFRESHING! Its nice to see a realistic mom video with realistic kids acting like kids ❤️ makes me feel like if my life is a little chaotic..its ok and still possible to become an LVN or RN. Other videos although good, make me feel like if my kids aren’t angels, i cant be an RN 😅.
Thanks for sharing about your journey...I'm in California also and I went the LVN route as well because of how tough it is to get into RN programs right now. I plan to work for about a year as an LVN and then do the LVN-RN bridge and then the RN-MSN NP (I already have a Bachelors in another field).
Hi! I quit school with 3 semesters left for a BSN. That was 25 years ago. I still want to do it! I like that you show real life lol. My youngest is 13 now so I could finish it out! I’m a single mom and the plan for me to finish school after the 3rd baby didn’t work out for me and instead I got a divorce.
It’s NEVER too late! Don’t give up on yourself! I plan on finishing my RN even if it’s just getting the associates because I can always get my RN-BSN online. You can do it! ✨👍🏽
My husband and I are currently expecting our first baby and I've been shopping around for lvn programs around my area and found a school starting up a program this fall. Idk what its going to cost but the other programs they offer are cheap compared to the private schools around. I hoping the lvn program is around 10k. The lost I found was 27k in a private school and 9k in a community college but they dont guarentee immediate acceptance to the program after completing pre req. You get put on a wait list. Your videos really give me hope and motivate me to be an lvn for the time, pay and experience it offers. It will allow me to get my foot in the door, and be able to contribute to our family.
I start the LPN program in 4 weeks! I chose it for exactly all the same reasons you did. My kids are 1, 5, and 8 and I just wanted to get my foot in the door and get real experience instead of waiting for years for RN and then spend another 2-4 years in school. I do also plan to go back for RN eventually.
I am about to start lvn school next year! And i am excited but nervous i have 3 kids also oldest is step daughter age 13, second daughter age 6 and my baby age 1. I know it will be tough but i have to do it for my kids and thank god my husband is able to support me for the year that’s how long the program takes so i am going for it now!!! Thanks for all the info and advice
Love this video! Real life 😂 I’m a phlebotomist but really would like to go back to school for lpn. I have 4 kids so I’m nervous that I won’t pass. I did all my prerequisites (years ago!)for the lpn except my stna expired so I have to redo that class first.
Go for it mama! Don't doubt yourself. The time is going to pass anyways so you may as well do something to better yourself, your kids and YOU will be so proud! Thanks for watching!
Great video! 👍🏻 I am stuck in between if I should just keep going with the generic ADN path or just apply to my community colleges LVN program... I need 3 semesters left of prerequisites for the RN program. Like you, I am a mother of toddlers, and sometimes I just want to start working in the health care field ASAP! What do you think? Thank you for your video and take care!
Thank you for your comment! I had the same thought process as far as wanting the RN after my name. It wasn't my plan to do LVN at all but once I had kids that changed. I say if you can get in and out quicker and start making great money much sooner, I would choose LVN again, which is why I am an LVN. Once I finish my last 2 pre-reqs for RN I can go right into the last 2 semesters so it's not a waste of time to get that LVN first! You can do it mama!
I am 24, have no kids, but plan to to go to school to be an LPN/LVN. When you said having no experience in the medical field, would I be able to have experience if I did clinicals at the school or would I have to do those baby steps after I graduate? Thank you so much for these videos! ❤️💝
I am now 36, but was in my early 30's (32) in the program. I have a lady in my class who was in her 50's at least! Age is just a number girl! Go for it! You'll be glad you did!
That’s why I want to do the LVN because I’m a single mother and I need to make the money faster and also realize is not much money which I kind of make now if a work double as a CNA but is hard working hours to make the money to provide for my family. Thank you for your words.
Hey Justine, glad I came across your channel! I'm from the north bay. Any tips on studying for the TEAS 6? I'm interested in a local LVN program. I have a 2 year old and 5 month old so the lvn route is the best choice for me at this time... Also, I love the name Selah! She is too cute 😊
Do inorganic chem. Organic is hard!!!!!. I am a recent RN grad and yes you have to have a good support system when you are a mother. I was lucky to have my mom. But you can do it!!!!
Hi Justine! Finally watching some of your videos! I have two test coming up but I'm taking a break. Lol. I liked this video because its true, LVN is still a nurse! And I worked with really good and nice LVN when I was working as a CNA. I miss the environment of working at a hospital setting. I would also encourage doing LVN if RN program is too competitive. I thoughr about doing it too but I was lucky enough to get into my program right away. Another tip is dont rush to private schools!! Private programs are sooo expensive!! If you can wait i suggest working and saving up money until you get in. If you don't mind getting urself in debt then by all means go for it. But i hated the idea of spending almost 35,000 for lvn at private school then they give you a "discount" and you pay around 60,000? For RN. Where as I only will he paying up to 8,000 for my RN education.
Where did you take the LVN program in Northern California? I am from Sacramento, CA. I would appreciate if you let me know because I am looking around for which school to go. Thank you.
Hey Dyane. I am from Sacramento too and was looking at different schools. It is really hard to pick the right one and is overwhelming with all the information they throw at you during the admission sessions. Have you picked a school yet? I have looked at two so far.
Damn youre really lucky. My LVN program was 32k in SoCal, and financial aid paid only 11k. It was at a private school. Full time batch with FOUR students lol. Wild experience.
Where did you go school for your LVN program? I'm in northern cal as well and mom of 6 and really considering doing this too! Thank you so much for your video!
I did mine at my local community college in a combination of in person and online! Hope that helps. It really depends on where you live and the options available to you.
Hi Justine! I have a question about other certifications for your LVN/ LPN? What certifications would you recommend in order to make more as an LPN?. I am in Minnesota and enrolled in pre-nursing for LPN. I want to be a mom too! What kinds of jobs would you recommend to gain experience if I want to try and get into a hospital setting as an LPN? What kind of clinical experience would help me? I am a current CNA.
I'm looking to get into a LVN program and I'm located in California. I have been a CNA/HHA quite awhile now just need a program that's in and out and my kids are older now, so now I have time to study and I'm in my early forties.
Hi! I am currently getting ready to apply to a community college LVN program in Sacramento. The ADN and BSN programs here seem near impossible to get into without a 4.0 which I don't have, but I will apply to them if I don't get into LVN. It sounds like it was relatively easy for you to get into your LVN program, which program was that?
@@pennnieeee the ADN or LVN? I have been considering not applying because I am so close to being able to apply for my BSN and that is what I truly want. It doesn't seem to help too much with BSN but it does if you hop to ADN first. I'm looking at applying to roseman University BSN in Nevada and Utah
I just can’t believe how expensive everything is in CA like 12k is ridiculously expensive for me lol. I’m in the LPN program in MD and it’s about 6k. So crazy how it varies per state!!
This is a beautiful video but I definitely wouldn’t worry about what anyone has to say what your baby is doing but of course ppl are gonna always be negative
Hi I am a dad of 3 little kids....9, 7 and 7 mths old...Im looking into a 1 year LPN program or a 2 year Dental Hygiene..... How is the LPN career- stress - physical? Pay? 401k? Vacation time? OT?
If you go into long term care it's pretty stressful at first, but once you get your routine down it's much easier. But with LTC, if the nurse coming on shift to relieve you doesn't show up you have to stay, at least where I worked, and this was a no go for me as I have kids too and can't be forced to work doubles without notice. Also, depending on the company you can get great benefits and retirement as well. I have PTO, great health insurance, 401k and much more. Don't settle!
@@heyjustine8199 How much is health care per mth? I work at Trader Joes 18.85 hr with 1.50hr raises a year and my healthcare with dental, vision for family is 185 every 2 weeks.... My 401k is free 10% of my paycheck they put in ...I just heard at a dental office there paying 16k a year and at my wifes old nursing home like 1000 mth.
@@pennnieeee Carrington College. LVN is 36k before financial aid and then the LVN-RN bridge is another 36k. It's expensive but it's years faster than waiting for the community colleges. The wait-lists where I live are insane.
Hi Justine, I just applied my college lvn program, but I'm scared that it won't be enough to live off of. I have a toddler and I'm a single mom and live in Central California, child care is so expensive, not too mention rent can u please give me some much needed advice 🙏
I have my medical assistant I paid 1,000 I know at Kaiser and few other places pay is 25+ so I’m in school now to finish my prerequisites to get my rn adn program.. I have two kids dads in another state so it’s just me luckily I live with my mom so I pay my portion of the rent I live in California too the community colleges don’t have waitlist no more they’re point systems so I have two more semesters before I can apply to the program which is 2years so basically 3 more years then a year for my rn to bsn
@@gladysgodinez-bautista449 I want to start the LPN program, I am searching for a good school, affordable too. I'm in Orlando too, would you mind giving me the name of the school? I would appreciate that greatly.

Lilliana Argoti hi! I’m sorry I missed your comment but I would recommend my program. It was very doable for a busy schedule. And now I am making decent money while waiting to finish my RN.
NCLEX TALISMAN 2020 thank you. After 4 years of nursing, i have been challenged by the ultimate exam "NCLEX" as nursing student, i faced difficulties in acquiring my license and many take like 5 to 7 years after graduation trying to acquire this license. All these may be due the fact that we were using the wrong study material, study technic or resource persons. Thank God i met mr Jayden. and he helped on my 4th attempt to pass. Whatever the case I'm happy i passed my NCLEX exam and I'm inviting you to join me celebrate. For my similar help contact him on WhatsApp +1 (559) 406-9819
