@@manny4218 that was a dumb ass comparison. You do realize that the Army has specific positions dedicated to the entire IT world right? You're acting like service members aren't smart or something.
I have been studying A+ Objectives for the last few months. I really interested in PCI DSS in Cybersecurity. I pretty much have a good knowledge on basic IT. So, I have decided to go for security + instead.
Do you absolutely need A+ and Network + first? I have zero experience but I took telecommuting and networking in school so I know the TCP/IP and OSI stack very well.
Notails I got my security+ in May and all I had was an expired A+ certification. If you can grasp the concepts covered in the security+ training materials, you can pass it.
@b1k-00 definitely not interested in government roles. Currently working for a medium size private firm doing cyber security as an analyst. Got my master's degree and sec+ cert since my original comment.
its hard to wrap my head around all the different certifications and which one to pursue. Also, they expire after some period, so are we supposed to give exam for each certification for the rest of our lives? If I want to jump company when my certifications have expired, do I need to reapply for every relevant certification before applying though I have work experience ?
It’s because technology is always evolving so quickly and there’s new ways for hackers to get into systems. So as long as you’re in the work field learning the new testing skills required in future certs will be a breeze with some extra new information
@@collinsinfosec Yeah, Grant....new subscriber. I just purchased a 2019 CompTIA Certification Training Bundle. However before I begin the CompTIA Security+ SY0-501 course I should probably brush up on the basic and make sure I've got that down. I'll be tuning in. Thanks.
Thanks. I have a question. Is it mandatory to do COMPTIA network plus certificate before the Security Plus certification? Or is it just recommended but not mandatory?
So I’ve been on the law enforcement side of the house for over 20 years, I have a BA in physical security and a Master in a Edication. I’m working on my ITF+ right now. Should I go for Sec+? I don’t have any IT background
Yes you would still be able to go for Sec+. It never hurts to acquire certs alongside a degree. I got my associate's degree in I.T and passed Sec+ a week ago. I would def hammer down on those objectives CompTIA lays out.
Hi, is there any site that offers me a cyber security certificate for free because I do not have the money if there is a site that I hope you put the link or tell me about it and thank you
Among security certifications considered entry level.. most likely because is "just general cyber security knowledge" but in reality just because its cheap and doesn't requires any recommendations or previous certifications.
It all depends on experience. I know guys with 0 experience and they have all the necessary certificates from A+ to security+ but they are not getting any decent Job?
@@G4luc see thats what im afraid of, where do you get the experience if you have none recently ? im working on my security + now but if its not guaranteed a job then why get it?
Yes! This is what I did. I joined the USAF and took a 1 month bootcamp for Security+. Follow it up with CCNA and Linux+. This will land you a System Admin/Network Admin position instantly with any Military/Department of Defense company as the Sec+ is a requirement.
