I had struggled with whether i should invest in a generator or the Dewalt line of battery powered power tools for my off grid property. After weighing the pros and cons, the biggest factors that came into play were cost and longevity. I finally decided that I could buy a generator to run the tools so much cheaper than accumulating a new set battery powered tools. I wasn't excited about the noise and cost of using gas to power a generator but it also allowed me to run an electric heater in my van and not worry about carbon monoxide or low oxygen levels. The next biggest decision I had to make was which generator to buy. My most important items to consider were noise, ease of use, and cost. In the end it came down to two brands Ryobi and Honda. I had used Honda generators in the past and was aware that they are great machines but the price tag of about $1000 scared me away. With the Ryobi coming in around $600 it was worth a try. I read online reviews which were mostly positive and really liked the phone app that allowed me limited controls remotely and to monitor fuel consumption.
