I'm currently planning to go to Japan for a few weeks to study the language because i want to move there later on in my life. i told my mom about it and she was like "you should't move there", "you need someone to go with you so nothing will happen to you.", and "the family will miss you especially your nieces and nephews." so, i told her "mom, i want to go out of the country to experience something new instead of staying here in the States. I don't have kids and I make good grades so why not." I think it'll be really fun studying somewhere else.

I would like to move to Korea someday but 1. my korean is non existent 2. financial issues, it's expensive 3. I'm afraid that I'll be all alone and when I need help that there'll be no one who could help me Anyways I'll find a way somehow and maybe study some korean while I'm in university and just search for organisations to help me and save the money for it. I really want to do it. Your video was really motivating thanks for that :3

***** yeah it's really practical to have a teaching job but it's basically what nearly every foreign person does in Korea. I mean if you're fine with being a teacher then that's really cool and I admire that you are ready to make the effort to teach children English because it's not easy but I wanted to do something else. I'm from Germany. Korea and Germany have a special agreement which lets German people have a normal job in Korea with a special visa (besides anything with a degree like Jura or medicine). I'm not sure what I want to do, something with media like journalism would be cool.

I have had an interest in Korea since 2010. It started with k-pop and then moved on to me appreciating the food, the culture, the language, etc. I thought it was just a phase at first but here we are, 6 years later and I am still very curious and interested in it! I want to teach English in Korea for at least a year after I get my Bachelors degree, but would it be wise to maybe visit for like 2 weeks with a friend that is/knows Korean first? I am sure I would assimilate quickly, but I want to get a general feel for the culture and everything before I just up and move. What do you guys think?

Do it. I went to Seoul and Busan (and a few other places) a couple of months ago. It was a bit rough in some ways, but overall, I had a blast and would definitely go back. And the Kpop influence is everywhere and a lot of fun, especially if you're already into that. Good luck.

Why does it feel like a lot of ppl want to go to Korea coz of Kpop XD honestly it's not like everyone in Korea looks like a Kpop star and it would be nice if people who were actually interested in Korea study about the history and culture. I want to go to Korea to visit the historical places, Kpop for me is just what got me introduced to Korea and wanted me to explore more about it then the pop music.

Describes me perfectly. I want to go to Japan or Germany(lol, the extreme ends of a spectrum), but I am an awkward child(not really a child but still 16), intorvert af, filled to the brim with social anxiety. And my gloomy vibe doesn't help at all. I also have a hard time making friends. People have to approach me first, so if no one approaches me, I will never make any new friends, lol. So for me, moving to another country by myself is so out of the question for now. I have to learn to be more outgoing, idk. And not avoid people...

Anei ._. feels like you're describing me .-. I'm so bad at just talking to anyone and interacting that I'm even feeling kinda sick spending time with only one friend. because I always manage to make any situation awkward. I don't no how to become more outgoing >.

I've been really interested in Korea for about 2 years now. I like the culture, mannerisms, etc. So I've talked about visiting South Korea or living there before, but every time I mention Korea my dad makes a comment about me being 'obsessed' and my brother calls me a koreaboo. Did anything like this happen to you when you talked about it?
@FullRedPanda
@FullRedPanda 8 лет назад
+MintSuga The same things happen to me. Like...oh...I'm sorry. Can I not be interested in another culture, language, or country? If I want to go to Korea of course the only reason is Kpop and "dreamy" korean guys. Ugh. Think before you automatically assume someone's intentions please and thank youu. (Whenever I explain this to them they're just like "Mhm sureee...") So aggravating. p.s. ARMYYYY

Greetings from Trinidad and Tobago. I have IBS and I've found that Asian cuisine is easy on my stomach too and that's why its my favourite. This is one of the major reasons why I'm considering moving there. I also like that they take education seriously and the culture of being organised and consistent is really impressive. I don't mention it to anyone because the first thing people ask is 'Do you have any family or friends there'? Which I find is silly to ask because for me to have friends or family there someone would have to be the first person to arrive which means that they wouldn't have had any family or friends there to begin with either. I wouldn't want to be boxed in just because of fear. You never know what you could be missing.

i loved Seoul, South Korea so much--- i lived there for 3 years during high school and im planning on moving there again someday. i completely agree that there's no reason why you should just limit yourself to one country; there's so much culture out there that it's hard not to fall in love with another country once you've visited or traveled. Thanks so much for your videos, I enjoy them a lot ❤

I've had the privilege to live abroad since a young age. So far I've lived in 3 countries and I am 16 :) I'm planning on moving again in 2 years on my own, but maybe, if my parents find a job overseas within the next few months, I could complete high school/college in another country and then move straight away after. Korea is one of the places I'd like to move but there are so many other places around the world that I would love to live in! I just wonder how I will be able to fit it all in my life. I mean, yes, I could go on holiday, but I always feel like a holiday doesn't let you be completely immersed with a country's culture. I know this because, not only have I lived in 3 countries and visited many countries for holidays, but whenever people visit the UAE (I used to live in Abu Dhabi), they all talk about the same places that they visit *cough* Yas Island, Dubai Mall *cough* and I'm just there like "BUT THERE IS ALSO THIS THAT YOU CAN DO!" A tourist's viewpoint is so different to people who actually live there, even if they are foreign. But if you're somebody who cannot/doesn't want to live abroad in that many country's, I suggest that when you go on vacation overseas, you spend a few months in that country, if you have the time and the money!

chonunmigooksaram : I had a similar experience after joining the U.S.Navy. Almost all of my mates would spend their weekends on the base in Sasebo, Kyushu, Japan - as if they had never even left San Diego, CA. What's the point of joining if you never explore your surroundings. After a few months of this, I decided to start venturing to nearby onsen, cities like Fukuoka, Nagasaki and eventually Shinjuku (always by myself). I made the same mistakes with trains, gaijin nihongo, and everything else. The good news is that I now have a great collection of photographs to remind myself of what it was really like back then while everyone else can only talk about "the club." It's a natural, human thang to be curious and explore. Just do it ! ! !

Hey there, this was a very interesting video, but I was really surprised when you talked about Korean food, because I went to Korea this summer and I felt like I had a hard time finding food without meat (and you said many dishes are just rice and veggies and stuff). I eat fish, but no meat, so when I went out with my friends looking for food, I felt really bad because we kept circling restaurants not knowing where to go because a lot of them were meaty restaurants. What kind of dishes would you recommend I try when I go to Korea next time?

It makes sense to me that food was the first thing that drew you to Korea. If you don't like the food around you life would be hard so knowing you love the food so much was a big help. I only have Korean dishes that I make myself, following recipes, since there are no Korean food places around here but so far I love the stuff and I've even been getting some of my family a bit hooked on it as well lol. Yum yum. Also, I agree totally that Korean is a really really pretty language!! It's so nice to listen to.

I want to learn Korean at 14 yrs old- but I very much doubt that I'll get it without an actual teacher/person who speaks in Korean. (by that I mean I was very shy as a kid and I hardly spoke at all, I guess you could say that I was bad at speaking in general- and I picked up things from my home language with my mum always speaking to me in that language. so that's how I learnt my home language ^_^). Also, yeah, I surprisingly learnt english before learning my country's language XD I know everyone says to go on websites and always listen to them and pronounce every word right, learn the alphabet (hangul), etc.. but THAT SEEMS SO HARD- especially self-teaching myself! D: I have no idea how to do it- but I really want too, it's just difficult remembering it, especially with going to my exams at school/speaking two languages every day already . Anybody have some words of encouragement to share? 😄 (Sorry this is so long ^_^)
@theshoeshangingonthattreei3689
Dreamer I feel exactly the same as you😫 It's so frustrating trying to learn a new culture and language , especially with the pressure of exams. I have some anxiety as well so I can't really handle all of it as well as my bad memory. I've tried using Naver Dictionary to learn. An app called Eggbun is quite helpful too because it starts from the basics like pronunciation. I probably won't be able to gat a Korean Tutor unless I pay for it myself or I take off time from my busy life. Good luck with learning ☺️👍

Dreamer I get what you mean, I thought it would be impossible and extremely difficult for me to ever do it but I just decided to give it a try one day... I'm not saying I'm any good at it because that's definitely not true at all 😂. But I really suggest trying it, there's websites and textbooks you can get to help you- and if you can try to get some of your friends to learn it with you so you can help each other. You just have to remember it's going to take a lot of time and patience. I only know a bunch of useless words like 아야 아이 오이 나무.... basically i know about 25 random words? But really though give it a try and keep in mind it's going to be hard no matter what because it's a new language

I love this video soooo much. Your positive attitude about trying new things and exploring new culture makes travailing/living in new places less scary. It has been my life long dream to live outside of the U.S,but it use to seem so complicated and intimidating.So videos like this make travelling look totally worth it and obtainable. Thank you!

I am questioning a few things here. An AA woman who is not Korean, but looks biracial, and embraces the Korean culture. I don't think I've ever seen someone take on an entire culture she strangely looks like, but has no cultural connection to. Megan seems to also learn languages very easily. That's an amazing talent I wish I possessed. I've taken Spanish I so many times plus my father speaks Spanish fluently. You would think I would know Spanish by now, but I don't.

For the most part there's a big part of Korean food that is spicy, but the people know that a lot of foreigners might not be comfortable with it so they either tend to recommend something else or make it less spicy. Lol

ChoNunMigookSaram IT was the same for me. Ever since I was little i wanted to live somewhere else, and see the world. And i never knew where the perfect place for me was. And again, the same. I love the language, culture. Everything. Im hoping someday to be a doctor or work with food. And Korea has the best cultural food. (That and its reallllly good) Im only 15 and i know i have a long way to go, but its my dream. And if others can do it, including you, then why cant i? P.S: I love your channel and videos! How often do you have to renew your visa? And how much does that cost? And as long as you renew your visa you can stay as long as you want, right? And like Japan, if you want to become a citizen you'll have to meet specific requirements such as proof of work documentation and/or proof that you are in a long-term relationship with a native citizen with plans to marry?
