Joking aside, there’s nothing wrong with leaving college. For a lot of people it’s just not the way to get what they need. Not for personal enrichment, not for professional goals. In fact, for most people it’s a demonstrable waste of time or money. The only people who actually HAVE to go are those hell bent on professions that require a degree as certification for eligibility for entry to their various guilds. Without a bachelors you can’t apply for medical school, mba programs, law school.....or masters or PhD programs. Even if you wrote a stunning, well researched treatise and got it published in All About Aquinas Monthly, you’d be hard pressed to find a good academic, degree granting institution that will admit you without a bachelors. It’s just a standard requirement asked of all applicants, regardless of how fantastic, brilliant, or experienced they may be. You can’t prove those other qualities, but you can prove that you have a degree. That’s the issue. I suppose a publication in Aquinas monthly counts, but they’ll just defer admission on account of lack of maturity and on the grounds that it’s a basic rite of passage asked of all people, universally, who would participate in their academic profession. No one’s going to sympathize, if you go down that career path. It’s weird to “leave school” so you can go to school isn’t it? I thought you were going to pull a bill gates or a mark zuckerberg.....but it looks like your trying for a full Good Will Hunting. Never go full Good Will Hunting.
