I think the "why" matters alot. Beautiful black women need to stop damaging their hair with weave that isn't even better than their natural hair. I've seen SO many black women with this same issue.
So you need hair and makeup to look good, "NO YOU DON'T". Try wearing less makeup and showing your real hair by taking baby steps, by going on a self-love journey, it will change you life.
Goddess of the Isles i’m so glad i’ve had short hair for years and i’m used to it because girl if I had to do this and I’d never cut my hair before I might’ve cried lol
You are a NATURAL beautiful black woman. You don’t need all the bells and whistles to prove how beautiful you are. I hope other young women like yourself have the courage to just BE. You don’t need piles of makeup, tons of fake hair fake lashes to prove your beauty. I am proud of you for having the COURAGE Asé
The same thing happened to me when I wore the heavy faux locs, just remember to massage your hair where the hair was ripped out because the follicle has trauma so the massage will help the blood flow with the follicle.
Use castor oil olive oil or sulphu eight , alternate turn and keep massaging your scalp . And always be carful with pulling in that area going forward as it will always be sensitive
Using a few drops of peppermint essential oil mixed with castor oil, avocado oil, and sweet almond oil or jojoba oil. It’s a great mix to help regrow hair and stimulate hair follicles. Also, onion juice rinses, organic coffee rinses, and green or black tea rinses are great for stimulating growth and preventing excess shedding
Thank you for showing me I’m not alone. My edges were already thinning out over the last year and I was just making progress. Then I got some braids that weren’t tight but the hair was just too heavy for my hair to hold and tore them out. I shaved my hair real low myself for a fresh start! I cried looking at myself and I definitely filmed the process and I was scared to upload to my channel. But you just gave me the courage to finish my video and show others my journey! I love your transparency. Thank you 🧡
I’m so glad I could give you that courage 🥺 I was embarrassed to show y’all but I knew there’d be people that would appreciate my transparency about what happened so i’m glad you enjoyed watching ❤️
Black castor oil and massage your scalp often to stimulate hair growth...I just big chopped my hair from damage from texturizing...its just hair it will grow back and you are beautiful regardless love ❤ Many blessings
I completely can relate. Us, black girls are prone to Tension Alopecia. You’re so beautiful. That cut is doing you justice! Yess! You should totally try out “Edge Entity Follicle Stimulant Cream”. I have been dealing with thin edges and tried everything from Biotin to Jamaican Black Castor Oil and none of that ever worked for me. Honestly, I started seeing major growth when I started drinking Collagen Peptides every morning in my tea with construction of taking Vitamin C. Now I’m incorporating Edge Enity Cream. Hope this helps!
I don't think we are "prone". I think it is the styles we wear. They are sooooooo tight. Look at Jojo Siwas. Her whole hairline is receding and she's like 17. Most women in other groups don't wear the styles we tend to wear.
427IndigenousSkies I agree and that’s why I used the word prone, everything you just described is the actual definition of prone. The styles we wear are examples to why we’re “likely to” have tension alopecia. We are saying the same thing at the end of the day.
@@come_on_barbie_123 Yea, my edges are growing in more and more (still not where I like it to be but growing nevertheless) the cream was trash. But taking vitamins regularly (daily) and incorporating collagen in my daily routine has done wonders. I was deficient in zinc and vitamin D which are BIG factored when losing hair.
I've had such locs done in a salon... I ended up undoing them the following day. I didn't even want to think about the money I had spent on them.they were just too tight. And locs don't loosen up as easily as braids do
Is it me? I’m getting Jada Pinkett vibes😍😍 that’s rough man, I’ve been there! I lost edges about 3 different times! Thankfully they always grow back!!😬
Yes. Years ago, I always wore a "puff" and thought the medication for my acne was affecting my edges. While at my dermatology appointment he asked if I always wore my hair in the style at the time which was a puff. I told him yes and he said that was the cause traction alopecia. My hair on one side has never fully recovered even after I shaved my sides and grew then back.😔
Thanks for sharing with us. You literally sound like me when I first went bald and my edges were growing back slower than the rest of my hair. I was so impatient but it all came together after 3 months. You’re rocking the short hair for sure. I was about 6 months into hair growth from going scalp bald but quarantining made me shave it off last week. I love it!
When I wore wigs it ended up causing my edges to start to bald too, and to this day it still is missing hair in that area :( Massage with peppermint oil and lavender are great to stimulate hair growth. Biotin supplements will help too. My hair has been thick and thin but any stress on the edges are no joke :( I know your hair can grow back, you're beautiful no matter what too!
Aww. I’m sorry this happened to you. Thank you for your honesty. But the bold spot is not that noticeable. I only noticed it because you said something 😅. But you definitely can pull off the short look. 🥰Good luck😘
Doesn't matter long or short, you can wear any style. I tried to grow my hair back out as well and messed it up so I'm back short. But for real, I love my short hair.
you really do remind me of Blue ivy like you could be her older sister and your hair cut looks awesome I'm to afraid to big chop I transitioned years ago good luck with everything
Sweetie thanx for your education and not be afraid to expose your faults. You help a lot of girls out there. You look cute with that hair cut. Strongs on your journey
You are beautiful! I am 61 years old, came across your channel. I have cut my hair off like yours now for the past five years or more. The quarantine prevents cutting so I am sporting twists. When younger, I wore corn rolls and my edges were like yours. They eventually grew back. Do some research because you can use something to grow your edges back if you do not want to sport your bald head. You still look beautiful young blood, no matter how you wear your hair, hold your head up high and wear it proudly. Be blessed An Ole Diva-G
You're such a Beauty. Be easy on the wigging.. U don't actually need it. Real talk. Let your hair & scalp breathe. Love your new hair growth journey! Stay amazing,Star 🌟
Oh sis. I sympathize with you. My edges thinned because my hairstyles were super tight and i would always style my braids tightly. I knew it was going to harm me but I did it anyway. I regret it and I’m treating my hair right now. All the best in this journey of yours. Love from Ghana.♥️♥️♥️
You look nice. We black people tend to have fine strands. Excessive weight and tension is not a good idea. I dont wear added hair but I noticed puffs and tight headbands were starting to damage my hair so I don’t wear them often. A lot of tight ponytails are bad too.
i pray you see this. BLACK SEED OIL. i'm not playing with you. get some black seed oil and massage it into your bald spots at least twice a day. i do it once in the morning and once at night. i've had thinning edges for years and FINALLY i'm getting my hair back. black seed oil is a bit pricey but it's highly worth it. good luck.
Your hair is beautiful. Just let it breathe, moisturize, lots of water, and massage the scalp with natural oils. Love your hair just the way it is, and you don’t even need the wigs. Why do black women feel the need to do so much to their hair ( with braids and faux locs that rip out our hair) and then we end up damaging our hair? We need to love our hair, our curves, our bodies. We are naturally beautiful, majestic, and worthy of honor. Let’s start respecting our hair by accepting our natural hair and bodies. Be blessed my beautiful Sister.
Girl this was me with crochet braids, pulling out my edges. Was going to grow out my hair but was like what’s the point of having all this hair and no edges? So I shaved my head and now starting again 💁🏾♀️
You look beautiful! I’ve done the Big Chop too many times over! My most recent was Jan. 2019. You’re going to LOVE your new healthy hair! Kudos to you. Can’t wait to follow your new journey.
It's ok doll , I could see your papilla and your scalp was inflamed . You are starting over now. Hopefully you still have follicles there. If so, it will grow back . I use to be a licensed stylist.
Girl we are in the same boat. I got braids that were wayy too tight and she even put my baby hairs in. Like i had them a week before i took them out and my edges were gone. I have fine and low density edges anyways. I have a taper anyway so i cut it down and just using oil with essential neem seed oil (it is anti inflammatory) and massaging my edges. When you have tension, you get those bumps because it is inflammed, so try using anything anti inflammatory on it. Ive also been getting vitamin d, sleeping better, eating well and they're comin back in. Never again will i be silent. Id rather shave my head for a protective style than have tight braids.
Scalp massages, aloe vera and avocado masks, water. Braids thinned out my edges and I'm still tying to grow them out. Sorry for your loss, but we all kearn the hard way.
I like your hair like it is now it's just hair...I have had braids in the top part almost like a mohawk and the sides cut low and designs in the sides ...I just dyed my hair blonde it turned out to be a brassy orange...I like it but I'm going to tone it down but I'm not going to cut anymore of my hair...wear your hair to what makes you happy and I know you don't have to explain why you cut all your hair off you look beautiful either way I think people put way to much on how a woman hair should look like you aren't your hair ...I love weaves and twigs and it's just what it is.. be Blessed and enjoy your hair journey because I'm enjoying mine..❤
I was very emotional watching this video because I know exactly how you feel about your edges. I am going through the exact same thing you were dealing with. Back in 2013, my hair started to thin and fall out so bad due to relaxers. In 2014, I went natural and started doing hairstyles like braids and sew ins. My edges became weaker. To this day, my edges all around my perimeter is thin and on the right side, I have a bald spot the size of a golf ball. I tried everything to get my hair to grow back and NOTHING WORKED. So I finally decided to go to dermatologist back in 2016 and she told me I had Traction Alopecia. She also said my hair was so damaged, that there were no hair follicles in that area. It’s just a smooth area. I was so hurt and devastated. But I’ve never given up and after watching your video tonight, it has really motivated me to do the big chop and start over. And I’m ok with that. I have my wig that will wear in the meantime until ALL my hair grows back!! Thank you so much for sharing your story!!!
YOU MADE THE CUT THE CUT DIDNT MAKE YOU !! You have great features that allow you to absolutely rock the roll out of this!!! So yes we are in this together it’s nothing like cutting your hair because you want to as opposed to cutting you hair because you had to but all in all this will be a great now u know lesson for the next time !! See you on the hair flip side beloved !!
Gurl them locs riped out your edges butttt it looks nice short I would have not cut my hair thou I would just wear a headband. Kinda like what I am doing now I feel your pain!!!
Thank you for this video.... i have great hair but no edges.. i had looooong box braids in elementary and same as you i sat on it and ripped it out.... thank you for your story....i watched your Kaleidoscope video im definitely inspired....
I think she knows she looks beautiful she doesn’t need any reinforcement or validation. You can tell she’s 💯 confident! Good luck on yours healthy hair journey girl! You learned from tour mistakes 🙌🏾🙌🏾
I've gone from shaved and blonde to 4.5 inches of hair and dyed back black. Bleaching the hair took a few layers of the hair off for me,made my hair weaker. I am so glad to not be blonde anymore because now I can actually rock different protective styles other than wigs. Please don't forget that hair oils and deep conditioners are your friend
i just cut and dyed my hair cause we in quarantine and i was bored . i wanted to start over . i ended up cutting wayy shorter then expected 🤦🏽♀️ like i might ass well used the clippers 🙄😂 but anyywayy ! i have been tryna rock it and own it like it was meant to be but its hardd !! but i wanna say you are OWNING it ! 😂 even if you not tryin too ! i love it !
But you could’ve also used Jamaican black castor oil and extra virgin olive oil and amla oil and tea tree, lavender, eucalyptus and sage essential oil on your hair and edges a warm scalp massage would’ve done you justice
DON'T DO THE WIGS IF YOU WANT YOUR EDGES TO GROW! That's what I learned during these 3 months of being sheltered. I never thought my edges could grow in some places until I quit with the wig combs and the lace rubbing out my delicate tenderils. Plus no gel at all on my edges either all this time. Moisturize daily and I reccomend sleeping on a satin pillow since your hair is so low. And of course taking a multi vitamin and/or vitamins that promote hair growth. Next summer your hair is going to have a very nice length and be so healthy if you dont do wigs!
@@JanaiKirsten the lace rubs on your hairline. I had the exact same bald spot you had in the front. I thought it was a "cow lick" and permanent. I was considering a hair transplant 2 months ago but 3 months with no wig and no gel was all my edges needed.
Oh wow. Yeah I wear a wig for one day like once every two weeks so it’s not like i’m wearing them everyday. Fortunately the bald spot in the front has grown back for me
My hair broke off taking my faux locs out. Some how they fake hair got tangled in my real hair. I only had them in 5 or 6 weeks. My hair is bra strap length, but now I have pieces that are like 2 inches. Never getting them again.
Back in the 60's and early 70's black women took care of their hair and styled it beautifully. Years pass and black women didn't even try to work with their hair. Just slap a wig on changed to sewing other peoples hair on their heads. Even though this would damage their hair and they end up bald. How can you be proud of wearing other peoples hair? So glad to see the return of sanity, your own hair is 100% better.
I been following you but I'd love to see you not do any hairstyles and do nothing to your hair for a year just keep it moisturize and you do vlogs of you every day life and the growth lol idk you a cool person
Aww, I feel for you. It sucks when it’s not a choice. You look beautiful though! You have a pretty face and a perfect head shape. I like it more than your longer hair tbh 🤷🏽♀️
"You have no hair there, ma'am." Stop it! 😂 you're so gorgeous. Luckily, you're used to short hair and it does you justice. But I know this was a little frustrating for you since you actually wanted to grow it out
I just did that today because my hair was so damaged like even the hair I cut you could see all the split ends, it was breaking real bad like omg. However, I am so excited about my change and new hair growth!!! You look gorgeous x
I like your hair short. My edhes were pulled out by the elastic around the hairnets at work. I use castor oil, blended with peppermint, lemon grass and tea tree oils. I also use Cantu Dry Deny and Blue Magic Castor oil formula. My edges took about 6 months to fully grow. In the meantime, my hair grew out, I clipped my ends twice and now it's doubked in length since I'd left it alone for a month while I was off work. I know it grew because my plaits are a few inches long as opposed to 1-3 inches long. Lol I can even plait up the back, which I most definitely could do. Good luck on your natural hair journey as they call it. I call it getting back to basics. My gair is the most tightly kinked and driest hair I've evver done or seen. I also use Glover's shampoo, Shea Moistire ACV & Castor oil line of liquid shampoo, conditioner and leave in conditioner. They also sell other products in that line. Thanks again very much for sharing. I've had many break and fall offs. You will be ok.
Hi precious i'm sorry this happened to you it's spring and everything grows even hair. just take care of your hair and it will be back before you know it. I had let mine grow out but now I have to cut again because it won't stop shedding. I have been following you for sometime and will keep on following you can't wait for the products stay safe.
i am not alone it felt like freedom. i brought over from childhood to adulthood a bald spot in the back of my head. so when hair extensions and stuff came out i thought i died and went to heaven. well 40 years later i jut stopped. i dont care if i get teased i dont care what people think. the freedom is feels way better than the beauty. thank you for your video
It’s just hair it’ll grow back, I like your possibility toward the chop. You still look cute, if you can shave your hair off then you CAN ignore what people say about it🤗
This was in my recommendations and something told me to watch You are very beautiful I love this video so much it's so heartwarming to me because I had a similar situation to this .I never wore my real hair in school and people would always ask me like hey when are you gonna wear your real hair and I would get annoyed because I always wear weaves and this actually happened to me with a quick weave it pulled my hair so bad to the point like I had to wear wigs because I was so insecure I was literally so depressed over my hair and so I cut it short and then I got even more depressed because I would see beautiful model girls on instagram with luxury curly healthy hair and i would just binge watch healthy people hair and no offense to anyone also mixed women hair and I would get jealous and just so upset with my hair because it would not grow and it was just so ugly and disgusting to me I've tried everything but now I'm accepting that I just have short hair and I cant be like everyone else and to just accept it as it comes this video touches my heart so much you don't even know I literally cried because wow there's someone like me I wish we could become friends this is so heartwarming!! And you're beautiful short hair or not ! A new sub!!
When you get braids or any type of hairstyle like hers DO NOTTT! Style your hair for at least 1 to 2 weeks I just did myself some box braids and they were so sore. Every morning and night put Grease on your scalp and by your edges!!! it’s helps with the pain bc it’s loosening up your braids. And you also need to put your head over some steam (boil some water). I promise you it helps a lot my hair it is a Ponytail right now after only 5 days!!!
