I was a State Farm agent for six years. The overhead expenses just killed me. I was always broke and what a bitch of a job. I did a lot better in Medicare Health Insurance and retired a wealthy man. If you're agent now quit while you're young enough to start over. If you're looking to start with them don't do it.
@@OLatreil Hi Miss Jackson, I was with a insurance a copy called The Alvarez Agency which turned out to be a nightmare. I have gotten on board with a group call Essential Solutions and they sell medicare. I'm finishing up my testing so, that I can sell medicare this October.
I’ve been watching your videos a lot recently, and I appreciate this vid so much. I just started with State Farm, and I thought to myself, and do know I want to work for myself but realize I have to start somewhere. Please keep up your video’s they’re so beneficial! Thank you Kenny!
Starting with a big company is super beneficial because you get to learn from a lot! You also learn important systems and processes to use. Thank you for watching!
Happy New Year! In Nov of 2020, I got my Life and Health license and in 2021 I got my General Lines license. In February, I will work my business full time. Scheduling some
Wow this was on POINT! I'm a beginner to the insurance world and this helped me understand alot from a different perspective. I really greatly appreciate your honesty. Keep doing what your doing and good luck with your future endeavors your gonna go FAR KennyJ!
Thank you @kennyjTV for making all of your videos. I am new to the Insurance game && I’m Beige watching your videos they are very informative, I like to watch them while I study for my Exam. I start at State Farm tomorrow I like how you kept it very real on this video
Im currently licensed as a P&C at my current company but not much life and work balance or room for growth. Currently thinking about also getting my L&H to start outside of corp in a way to be me and provide how I want to provide the products instead of being pushy. Looking forward to more of your videos to make that happen!
Hi Kenny, thank you for sharing all this information. I’ve been doing insurance since I was 16 with Insure On The Spot (clearly not legal.) I learned a lot and loved it. I got licensed when turning 18 for my P & C. I could not deal with how unethical every conversation was. I tried another insurance agency, Acceptance however it was basically the same. I ended up working from home for the state of IL. Also, very unethical and now there is a lawsuit on trial. I have wanted to get started with Life and Health insurance since I worked at Acceptance. Even have some books and notebooks of product knowledge. I knew though I would not stay at my last insurance agency when getting licensed in L&H. I have been on a hunt on HOW to truly get started independently… I keep finding out hidden factors in many agencies. I don’t know where to start and if i even can start solo. If you can help in anyway, I’d GREATLY appreciate your time. Hope you have a great weekend :)
I just started last month came from an independent agency and I am realizing that I’d rather work for an independent agent. I had to get both licenses to work for a State Farm agent. I’m not going to lie having to learn the SF system is tough.
@@KennyJTV Thanks for the reply! I do have an interview Thursday morning and if given the opportunity I am going to take it. I enjoy shopping around for customers to find the best price. So far SF home quotes are high. I didn’t want to give up on SF but I prefer working for an independent agent.
@@KennyJTV you’re correct had someone who had a business power-washing the exterior of homes, driveways, patios etc and I was told they couldn’t provide coverage because of the exposure. Where I was working prior, I could have given him a quote.
Wow, with the company and just got my Health Insurance License 4 days ago and now (working on Life). Also have P&C. Life Insurance is such a challenge, any encouraging words😉
You had a bad experience at State Farm because of your agent. It is up to the agent and how they run their office, working from home and salary is all based on agent. As team members you are not employed by State Farm but by the agent. Just like commission not every State Farm Agent has the same commission structure and you can make 6 figures working as a team member when you are offered a lucrative commission structure (again by the agent) State Farm also offers a agent aspirant program where it allows team members to become an agents and own their own office.
Very true however I wanted to truly own my book of business. I’ve seems SF agents get fired and now all the hard work goes to waste also I have way more options for my clients. SF Agents send me business weekly bc they don’t have the resources to insure them. I know how much my agency owner was making on commission and I make way more on the independent side. SF is a great company however it wasn’t for me.
It’s my personal opinion that StateFarm is a pyramid scheme getting as many agents as possible to open up shop. Then they no longer hold those agents accountable there after. I’ve dealt with many different StateFarm agents and it’s all resulted in a negative experience. From their office to their call center. The agents hire their own employees that don’t work for StateFarm and who strictly work for the agent and I’ve seen so many of them treat their employees very badly. StateFarm is scheme and Id love for more people to shed light on it
IF U DONT GET RESIDUALS, YOU DO NOT OWN !!ANYTHING!!! Great video. Independent is the way to go. Figuring out phones and lead vendors is the biggest challenge. I started independent in life ins. I would recommend a captive agency until u learn the bizz. Then go independent
@@ambiencemusic4858 I hear really good things about Allstate for commission. State Farm is a good company if you want to learn from the best and do your own thing.
I was in statefarm for a month.. lol… previously a real estate agent for 8 years. And thought I would learn the ropes with them. The agency was small so I was hoping to get the best training. But unfortunately the agent and his manager were all over the place and got upset if I didn’t know anything cus I didn’t… lol.
I'm new to this but what I am aware of is you can sell someone a policy but when the time comes are they truly covered? State farm does a great job of educating clients on what they can do for them rather than just signing you up. I also think a lot of it has to do with what agent you are working for, some good and some bad. Luckily where I'll be working is run by family and they have purchased and extensive training programm for agents, which works! With a commercial liscense you are allowed to work remotely so like I said it's who your working under, some are good and some are about there own pocket. Pick wisely. Good luck brother you seem like you did what you had to and got out.
Phenomenally stressful and the staff is phenomenally rude. Ive worked for them before and coworkers were always mean and snappy. You wouldnt expect that from coworkers
That’s what’s up Kenny J I to expanded and became “independent “ on my my own it feels so good reaping the benefits of your on hard work ….please send me a link so that I can explore options for business , auto and life looking forward to speaking with you thanks Dennis Brown
I loved your video ! New subbie!!! I just graduated from pharmacy school but I’m looking to use my skills to go into Medicare and life insurance. Also what instrumental song was that playing in your video?
I’ve done very well with SF about to open my secound office. They have opened up risk. I’m out west and they are writing fire risk independents can’t even touch. So good times right now
Great information Kenny. I just passed my pre- license exam. Can you recommend a good book / study guide for health & life insurance to help Pass the state exam?
How long were you with state farm? Am studying to get my first license now. So am trying to figure out the rt I should take to find sumone to mentor me. Also is it even possible to start out Independent? Or I need to Or should start out with an agency to learn as much as I can?
I was with State Farm for about 5 months! You can definitely start out independent I just believe if you want more guidance you should start with captive. Feel free to book a call with me and we can really go in depth calendly.com/kennyj/30-min-call-30
Great insight. I think I’m going to start of with State Farm then eventually branch out to an independent agent. I’ve interviewed with a few Allstate’s in my area however their base bays were incredibly low. Do you have a video discussing pay and the amount of money that can be made on writing policies?
It depends on the agency owner. Each State Farm is owned by the franchise owner. It depends on their structure. I would ask that in the interview if I were you. Hope you will subscribe!
I work for a independent State Farm agency rn and I’m finding it difficult to close bc of rates in NJ rn I would like to sell life insurance for myself, how do I do that? Thank you for your response in advance
I had an interview today with State Farm and the commission was $50 for each new car and $100 for each life insurance.. sounds low, anyone know how much State Farm commission is?
I am about to start my insurance journey and one of my prospective companies is State Farm. I have watched this video and your pros and cons and I have some questions for you.
Another great vid bro- sorry if I missed it but did u tell us already if you became a broker and opened up ur own agency? If so, what's the name of it? It would be really cool if u did a video on opening ur own agency (again sorry if u already posted one) best of luck!
Thank you! I haven't done a video on exactly how I opened my agency. The name is Remedy Insurance & Wealth Builders LLC. Check out our website: www.remedyiwb.com
Hey Kenny, I’m looking to apply at a local State Farm near me. They gave several job titles. What was your job title with them if you don’t mind me asking?
Were you an actual agency owner? It sounds like you were working for an agency owner as a team member, and not the actual agent. If you owned your own agency, you do get residuals. When you mentioned base pay, that means you were working for the person that was getting the residuals. Have you ever considered becoming an agent aspirant? This will make you become your own boss and will get the residuals.
@@KennyJTV why did you not ever consider becoming an agency owner with Statefarm? You had the experience, and would've done great. The sign up bonuses and premium builder programs are amazing along with the residuals that you wanted which would give you the financial freedom that you were looking for.
@@SuidAfrikaMitsu the lack of commercial appetite. There were a lot of people we turned away as well as life insurance. As a broker I don’t turn anyone away.
I’ll go with Allstate any day over StateFarm. I’ve had nothing but terrible experiences with SateFarm Agents claiming to be your local insurance agent and selling on that to push you off on their new hired staff any time you call back with questions. So they get you through the door then turn around and push on other sales associates who have hardly any knowledge of what they are doing. To have those associates send you to their call center to endure terrible wait times. Once you reach someone from the call center they too do not know what they are doing half the time and you get sent through multiple calls. I’ve been lied to about what my premiums will be when first purchasing the policy to have the Agent tell me they don’t have control over the premium. I understand premiums change over time but not when you get quoted a rate and you pay that rate to later get a bill stating you still owe money or your policy will be canceled. Ridiculous. Allstate has never done this and you talk to knowledge people from top to bottom
This is complete bs. First of all, no lead agent (office agent), can even be considered if they are not top notch at the proprietary systems and technologies, not to mentioned an extensive and impressive track record of great customer service and honest, legit business such as quoting, follow through, changing politicies, and more. They need to be sponsored by another agent, and go through a long extensive process. Last- our customer service techs are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I would expect Allstate to be a competitive company. The people that usually have trouble or are discontent with their current State Farm agent’s office are those who are typically difficult, lie about paying their bills, have bad credit and or driving history, super frugal to a toxic pint where they may be paying very little for their premium but want it lower just because and or complain about their bill going up because of inflation and the retched law of large numbers. I’m not even defending SF, just stating facts. Their computer systems are unnecessarily complicated and antiquated. For a team member to make or add a change, we use a system that looks like coding. Other than that, you have your easy going, never call, never bug customers. Those are usually the ones who never complain, their bill never goes up, if it does they understand that it may have been because of a recent at fault accident, added a person to their household, credit, age, or something else may have changed at time of renewal. I encourage you to go into a SF office and get some quotes and ask them stuff, ask the office lead agent preferably. Good luck and god bless
Wow, just took a job at State Farm to start out. This is making me wonder how long I’ll last… I really thought I’d end up being a State Farm owner one day but now I’m not so sure I’d wanna go that route
@@prolificvisuals7077 oh wow. Still here, about to get my life license. Not really enjoying it but I’m hanging in there because the job market it awful. I’m from fort myers Florida where the hurricane hit and lots of people lost their jobs
I'm a newbie looking to get into personal lines I happen to come across your RU-vid channel and it's giving me great information and deciding whether or not I want to pursue personal lines please feel free to give me any advice that I should need along the way
Hey Kenny! I was wondering if it was possible to do school and have a insurance job at the same time. im looking into getting my actuarial science degree but also have a job in insurance
Question guys i jist started in this industry can i help my family member get a better rate even if they already insured with State Farm ?? Im wondering
@@KennyJTV I think that people should understand that when content creators such as yourself are describing your experiences. There are many subcultures within the world/overall culture of State Farm! Great video but I’ve watched so many of these “my experience with SF” and they can be a little misleading because sales in general could mean Agent or an Agent’s team member or even the CCC. 2 of these work for State Farm the corporation and one works for an individual on a contract with SF. Thank you for sharing your perspective!!! Definitely worth talking about 😌
State farm is currently scamming me they have been owing me a refund for 4 months ' 3 stop pays and 3 address chnages ' they keep saying they dont know whats going on ... Lies
As long term home insurance owners with State Farm we got really screwed when we had to make a claim. This horrible insurance company allowed NOTHING on our claim. Warning: if you have State Farm DROP them NOW!!
Same here. They shorted me 8k on a total loss vehicle valuation by using fake/fraudulent comps. When I showed the proof of this, basically told me to F off. Had to evoke the appraisal clause to get a fair valuation which was successful after beating a few horses dead. Within in the last 6 months I have found an exponential rise in complaints with them. Guessing something has changed recently.
Thank you! That's odd, I haven't heard of that issue before. Email me and we can talk about Life Insurance. (Email in description box) Hope you will subscribe!
