LOVELY Barry!!!! I admit that I live where I do very much because of running … from my door I can choose flat or hilly, shady forests or open fields, protected valleys or high open plains, along waterways, country, town or take the train into Paris and enjoy those huge city parks before or after a gym workout!! I love heading off on new adventures too and my latest was finally completing the entire Orge River from source to where it flows into the Seine at Athis Mons … awesome adventure !!! I love love love the changing seasons too, though ESPECIALLY the magical bluebells in spring, and yes even the rain too can be wonderful !!!

I love bluebells, one of my favourite flowers...I do love the variety in running and when I made this video I kept thinking back to places I haven't run in awhile, but getting back to proper marathon training means more long runs and more variety!

Superb - we’re just back from our weekend staying wi a pal in Sandymount. Had a couple of runs out and back to BlackRock and a wee jog down to see the Poolbeg Chimneys. Hadn’t realised it was quite so flat - enjoyed it mind, good to try something different. Back home by our hills here in Argyll 🦄👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿😸

As I live in Ringsend its really east to head north or south along the coast or inland to the Park...hopping on the Dart out to Malahide and running back along the coast is one of my favourite runs, though the wind can be a zapper...

Well, I'll be coming to check these out at some point for sure. You certainly sold your hometown to me Barry - looks a lot of fun to run in. I need a car to get to the 'good' Melbourne running spots - it's all suburban industrial estates around where I live.

Come on over, our summer coincides with your winter so a great time to come...and the weather will be about the same! The only run I needed the car for in the video was into Wicklow when I made the Atreyu Trail video. The others I have run there and back, with the exception of Greystones which I can train out from around the corner and run back, though the coastal path has been closed due to erosion recently...I do run in the industrial estate which is at the back of the nearby park...and I enjoy that too!

Jaywalking is legal and is done as a matter of course. The pedestrian traffic signals are somewhat erratic in terms of timings. Watch out for the bicycles. Other than that it's fairly straightforward, take the usual precautions you would in any city. If I can help with anything just email. Address is in the description. Have a great time!

Great camera work Barry. Your video really highlighted how gaudy the external signage on the GPO is. How An Board Pleanála allowed that I'll never know. It's an interesting / annoying report to read. Larry Goodman won't be impressed with you referring to the Baggot a street building as Bank of Ireland 😂. Similar to the Pepper Canister, I can't see "Miesian Plaza" catching on.

Fantastic video (noticed clips that I liked from way before). This video had memories (I remember some due to shoes you reviewed). Must find work in Dublin so I can move there. Maybe Dublin Chamber of Commerce or Tourism office should sponsor this video. One query: What races do you recommend near/in Dublin in 2024? Any 10K or 20K or half marathon or marathon that provides an experience like this video suggests? Would that park be the good point? There was a video before about you running near the Ambassador house. It was a marathon prep video I think. Thanks!!!

The economy is good so there does seem to be lots of jobs, particularly in tech...though they have suffered a little from cutbacks recently worldwide. Some of the best races here are Parkruns, 5k every Saturday....very enjoyable and very easy to just show up and run. The dublin Marathon is on in late October. I haven't run in it and have no plans to. My friend Liam has run it about 10 times and says if you enter early you can get into it...There are lots of races and fun runs...and you can run around the Phoenix Park on all sorts of terrain...

Your filming of your runs in the city would give Rocky in Philly a run for his money. I have actually never been to Dublin, The city itself looks a lot less hilly then Cork (exluding the coast run), but that might have been your filming / editing. I hope training is going well 🙂 and any niggles are being held at bay.
@OldManRunner
@OldManRunner 10 месяцев назад
Dublin is a lot less hilly. The Liffey runs through in a slight valley and the coast along the bay is almost entirely flat. with hills at the edges in Howth and Killiney...whereas Cork is very hilly and the river Lee meandering...I made a run across Cork because Joyce's father was from Cork City...love visiting Cork and meandering around the narrow side streets...Training is gone well! Might make a video about that...
