It’s films like this that prove that animation is more than just entertainment for children. From the mature themes, relatable story, and memorably emotional moments, this movie is without a doubt one of the best films I have ever seen! Every time I watch it, it only grows better on repeat viewings. Without a doubt, this film is a masterpiece, and I can’t deny it shaped my childhood.

I think a major reason it resonates so deeply on a soul level with most is because many of us are rife with anxiety, carry guilt around that isn't ours and consequently run from our power just as Simba did for much of his youth.

When I was younger, like 5 and I was staying at my dads house, he would bounce at a bar and night and he would always put on the lion king on VHS and I would be with my dog Lilly, who passed away 6 years ago, and every time “can you feel he love tonight” played I would get emotional but now when I rewatch the movie, my emotions over take me and I feel the nostalgia and it reminds me of my childhood and it’s really amazing

I couldn't say anything so I just came up and hugged her like I never have. Don't ever wanna think that she'll be gone someday, like mom and dad, but thats the reality (The Circle of Life) and the only thing to do is accept it and cherish every moment you still have with the people you love. Thank you for this video, didn't think I would get so emotional today, but it was something I definitely needed! ♥️

For the scene with Mufasa's "ghost," I had assumed that it was supposed to be at least somewhat literal, seeing as The Lion King draws from traditional African religions and their tendency to include aspects of ancestor worship.

I once used the song "Under the Stars" to help me and a friend get through a terrible time. We were students on a small island, and had just seen one of the locals *purposely* hit a puppy with their car, and watched it cower on the side of the road, dying. All our fellow students just moved on and went out to drink and party, but my friend Pete and I stayed with it, tried to do what we could until the puppy was gone. And after that experience, where we saw callous cruelty and even more shocking apathy, I took my friend down to the water, we each put in an earbud, looked at the stars reflected on the ocean, and I played "Under The Stars". It was exactly what we needed, to experience the beauty of nature, listen to something that is at once melancholy and hopeful, and share a moment of friendship and empathy.

I was also quite young when I first watched The Lion King. Probably really helpful since my first major loss was my paternal grandfather when I was 4/5. I watched my VHS so often I wore the tape out and I can actually quote a good chunk of it! We recently lost a family friend and that reminder that the world moves on without us hit me hard when I was back at work. It's retail and to see so many people just going about and getting groceries felt so wrong knowing he was gone. But you're right, this movie is a cornerstone to preparing a huge generation for life.

Wow. I have so much emotional attachment to this movie, every scene evokes so much strong emotion in me probably more than any other movie in existence. But this is the first time I've heard someone actually voice my internal thoughts and feelings about the movie in such a beautiful way, you've explained exactly why the film is so special to me. Thank you so much. The most emotional scene for me besides Mufasa's death (which never fails to make me cry) is when Simba walks up Pride Rock and Hans Zimmer's score plays. That scene always gives me goosebumps, it says so much without saying anything at all. It represents Simba accepting who he is and taking his rightful place after his father after all the time has past and overcoming his internal struggles, and it also shows the respect and loyalty of all the other character's faces as they watch their true king ascend to the throne (literally). The score and animation is so perfect at evoking the right emotions in you to make you feel the weight of the scene. So beautiful.

My childhood best friend (who lived two houses down from me) and I (born in ‘91 and ‘92, respectively) each had pet cats while growing up. One of hers was named Pumba and mine was named Simba. Neither of us knew the other when our pets were named. The Lion King was a Big Fucking Deal when it came out in the 90s. It was such a huge cultural moment that spanned generations and gender and all the superficial things that some people believe separate us as human beings. The (original) Lion King will never not be magical to anyone who watches it 💜

He would fall asleep during the movie and wake up when I wanted him to restart the movie. I love this movie so much! I wanted to watch the new Lion King with my dad at the cinema, as a birthday present for him. Sadly, he died spontaneously a couple of months before it came out. It's a little harder to watch Mufasa die now, I have to admit.

The difference between the 1994 classic and the 2019 remake is that in 1994 they were aiming for pure creativity whereas in 2019 they were just craving gold. Magnificent video for one of the finest films of all time. You got my emotions going. I wasn't even born when this came out, but it is linked with my childhood.

You outdid yourself in "The Music" ( 12:36 ) - Awesome music editing. God I love you for this ... through "The Lion King"!

You know it might be just me but I don't normally see positive video essays about Disney films probably because people would rather talk about the live action remakes.
