Finally more people are opening their eyes on this matter. Codemasters and EA just say fancy words and actually do nothing to improve the game, yet every single year thousands of people find new excuses for them to justify why the game has not improved. - "maybe the next patch will fix this" - "they have not enough money, now that EA took over they will work harder" - "they have been very busy adding like 1 track to the calendar this year so they couldn't fix that kerb" - "graphics improvement requires a new console, we reached the limit with the ps4" I could go on forever.
I think the problem is F1 has a new season each year, but to make a real difference in a video game, it takes more then a year. What they should do in my opinion, is not name the games after the season, and keep the same game for 2-3 years. They can offer track and car updates each year, to keep up with the seasons, but don't call it a new game, until you have something worthy of a new game.
Played BETA Outside of a horrible beta setup (you get 5 tires for 180 minutes of practice) They changed how ers works/charges, tires, and some physics. Car requires a much more stable driving. Felt impossible to lock tires I tried like 18 different setups on Brazil and US and results are drastically different. Granted they changed and added some sliders. Some people probably didn’t even notice this lol. (Very different)Engine breaking is adjustable and for whatever reason was very high on base setup (50%) and would make rear feel sluggish/locked on turn in. This would cause me to force/throw car in to force rear to step out You have to find a balance. It’s very hard, AI in certain sector seemed to pull time out their ass. Cant tell if engine breaking was the issue. Also the differential is set to 30% automatically for base setups…at Brazil. Most people will catch that (Same)Low aero, medium or high you can plant your foot and swing the car it doesn’t lose grip during high speed corner at all. Took the starting S at Brazil flat out on soft and medium throwing rear around. Your tires suffer more imo. Didn’t feel snappy at all. Raced on slick hards at Brazil in light to medium rain and still was able to keep foot planted-90%. Going on traction seems safer. F1 22 was hell, this isn’t that at all. (Different)Bumps on track are improved I think? On Brazil main straight with medium ride height the slight curve would make the car jump and sort of skirt to the right to to the underneath losing downforce/contact with ground. AI drives around in a line. I don’t think they are the actual AI. On 105 in quali and practice I couldn’t beat them at all. In the race they follow each other like a line of ducklings and you can pass them with ease. They are overly confident about their line and have no remorse. (Somewhat same)Kept having issue with higher downforce of car genuinely tweaking. Would jerk left and right, leads me to believe it’s the bumps\surface ^ (Same)The car mounts curbs very well with the right ride height. Notice a lot of ride height issue, they changed the scale a bit (hurt my brain) (Quality of life change)Load times are improved, now you go from R&D/Calender screen, click, within seconds in your car looking at track map. Before you went through load times. (I’ve had a M.2 for the last 3-4 games( Largely it feels similar/improved. In races taking care of tires feel more impactful. And aggressive wheel inputs ruin your tires. Low speed cornering engine breaking feels horrible, so you kinda have to sit on the throttle a little bit while turning to keep minimum speed up. At least that what I presume of brakes car’s deceleration is higher than I expect. Still considering older F1 games had more car selection, tracks it’s hella lacking. I mean same calling names, maybe same faces, same engine, menus, identity. You’re paying 70$ for a handling tweak. If you haven’t played an F1 game it’s a great buy. If F1 22 was your first I’d still suggest it. Anything past that and I’d wait
Sorry, bit of a brain fog moment on Spa + Silverstone comments. Mainly for Spa as its hard to come to terms they've actually updated it, was engrained in me for years 😅
I played the BETA today... and i actually disagree with some people having critics on the handling! It has changed.. a lot.. i think F1 23 was actually too easy to handle. Especially at low speeds. These cars weight 800 kg not 640 anymore! So it's logical for it to handle hard at low speed. Locking up is easier to do... but that is actually more realistic. Locking up should be punishing. Not rewarding (like it was in F1 23 rear locking) you even in real life see sometimes a wheel locking up at a hairpin.. not because of braking but because the car is lifting up the inside tire. ERS is also a big improvement. Not only do you jist have NONE as ERS mode.. it charges up the battery even on a straight at full throttle! (Sounds OP but you actually lose a lot of top speed with it) Yes the game looks the same.. and a lot of critics on EA and codemasters are very justified i agree with those! But with the handeling they did do a good job in my opinion to make it more realistic and different. A lot of critics are also people that probaply did the first BETA test.. and drove for just 3 laps and said.. naah this is bad!! Without giving it even a real try (at least 10 to 15 laps) Well that was my rant.. had to put this somewhere! Don't miss understand me! I do agree with the critics that EA is a company too frickin focused on money making that it costs quality. And Codemasters sometimes forgetting they are an actual game developer for F1. Do whateveryou want but at least try to look at it in positive light. Because they updated tracks. The handling.. might not be easier but so is life too sometimes. It's i think more realistic in some aspects. Tire model has changed and ERS has changed. Good luck for the rest of your day!
i don't think we will see any significent improvements until old gen gets dropped and they can focus on all these improvement on a new engine, 100% getting held back by the old gen consoles
Apart from of course it's being waaaay to expensive for the small annual update, at this point I would like to hear, what people expect to see differently by seeing someone other drive in cut Trailer? Graphics ok, yes, lightning, reflects an so on could be visually different while seeing cars driving around the track. Other than that, I don't know, they're always gonna drive formula 1 cars around the same tracks. I don't understand the argument "I would have thought it's F1 23". It could also be F1 22 from that point of view, and earlier it's only arguable because of the cars looked drastically different. Apart from that it'll always be the feel and the modes besides plain driving which make the difference between racing games in general, Codemaster's F1 or not. And the myth about the influence of the engine and how people seem to think a new engine magically solves all problems, or that an engine is something static which never ever gets updated or maintained is another story. Good to hear that there's coming a new one. We'll see, if something if any remarkable changes will come from there then. I know the critics and the bad mood about the F1 games doesn't come out of nowhere. They earned the critics, and many of them are right. But meanwhile some of those complaints just get plain stupid
I just bought f1 2020 again for the ps5, and i haven't had such fun with a f1 game for a long time. Sad thing is (for the new games sake), it still looks the same as the new games do 😅
in my oppinion its not possible for a sportsgame like this to be really much different every year. thats the problem. you cant sell a new game every year like this. it should be like a DLC and cost maximum 30eur
The car handling has been improved a lot in this version, much more predictable and realistic. Suspension model is not just graphics. Front tires lock more based on weight transfer dynamics and the car is sliding in the turns in a better and more controllable way. Also the traction in acceleration is smoother. To be honest I'm quite happy about this new version.
The fact this series is still using the same engine is a ceiling in itself. That said, the bugs snowballing is what lets me down. I think they employ next to no QA.
I simply stopped caring more and more about the game. There is never a good feel in the game for me. And I dislike how the really fast laps are driving like the tires aren't effected by grass, by bumps and so on.
I think we can see ea taking the same route as with fifa. Streamlining all gamemodes so its easier to copy paste for future editions, using buzzwords like new handling etc when in fact probably nothing has changed at all… feels so bad as i was jusr starting to get into f1 racing :/ i hate ea with all of my gamer heart man
I'm legit happy af after watching it. Way better with ungelations, the suspension actually dips snd the eeight transfers. Slips happen in low speed so you gotts be careful with the throttle etc. Luckily the version 2 beta was released yesterday and alot of complaints are gone since peolle never got to feel the resl new handling model in the betano1. They accidently released the wrong model. The difference is you could actually see it just gotta know what to look for and yes it's gonns be similiar but that's to be expected until they use a new engine!! Also I'm sry f1 2023 is really good compared to 2021 and 2022. F1 2022 was like being on ice imo. Did you see the tire temps? They matter now and showed you that the tire temps really reduce lap times now. You couod see the 106° etc. So it's clear that is there also.
Can't really say anything about the handling, I am still working with the bottom-of-the-barrel when it comes to wheels 😂. But I will say this.. I really hope they do something about AI blocking by changing positions (left to right, or vis versa) in the breaking zones. Or that some apparently have a 2sec episode while we're racing next to them EVEN on the straights, then plow into your side-pod...😤
I am actually quite positive for now with all the simulation updates that were presented in the first deep dive video. I doubt that they have just tweaked the handling settings and then lie about the simulation updates. That would be a fairly insane lie, I want to believe that they wouldn’t lie to such an extent. I mean they shared a lot of details about these simulation updates after all.
I prefer to drive my F1 cars on Automobilista 2 by far and in general as a sim AMS2 is just so much better than the Codies F1 series has ever been and ever WILL be.
@@v10-e8yI mean that’s prolly the best way to go for such a big company cuz they are basically on all platforms and controller players exists they need it to be simcade and sim on controller either way to difficult to put in the type compared to wheel or just shittly handled on controller regardless
Thats a real shame as I was really looking forward to this release having skipped F1 23. Really hope they fix it before launch. Do you guys think it could be a worthy upgrade over 22?
Ik people are shitting on the handling model, and i for one haven’t played the beta myself but maybe thats what an f1 car feels like to an extent not saying that it’s perfect there will be things that needs tweaking but maybe thats what a f1 car feels like shit in the slow corners and amazing in the high speed corners
it's been a while since i seen your last video, after i watched jarno and other esport driver, i just realise how smooth your driving style compare to esports driver
The thing is, the community can complain all we want but EA simply don't care. In the end of the day they still make money on every game they put out because people will buy it anyway me included.
Motogp under milestone is evolving and f1 under ea is just going backwards i hope some other developer gets a shot on the franchise i stopped playing f1 now motogp is more fun these days
The answer is simple. It's now an EA company. They are going to do the absolute minimum, charge the absolute maximum for it, then try to sell all of the extra shit on top of that. It's not going to change while Codemasters are an EA subsidiary. And really, the likelihood is that EA will just close them up if they don't get the big money out of it rather than trying to do anything to improve.
I think they need to use a new engine for it to 'make a change' but personally this will be the last F1 game i'll buy if it's bollocks, and i've bought every game since F1 was on the flipping spectrum back in the 80s! Their AI modelling has been terrible, more their AI handling when using their driving support system etc. I'd love to see a more in depth into career, such as walking the pit lane, motorhome access from stepping out of the car - a real in depth dive career, really living it (as close as possible). One thing on the career front is the contracts/money is that some games really do go in depth, such as top spin 2k25 (or whatever it's called), you earn money, you spend the money buying houses, trainers and all that. Why can't EA / Codemasters do this? This is the most expensive F1 game released, and for what exactly? I dunno, it better be good is all i'm thinking. Great vid as always mate.
I feel mugged as the original discussion was a new game engine, so I bought a ps5. The ps5 is better for me, but only because I can see the corners in the distance now. Otherwise, I have payed 80 quid for a re-skin of F1 23. Changing a few back end parameters ain’t fooling anyone. The developers are trying to get us hyped about the game, but all we want is for them now to f it up - again. We only need the update because all the other players will migrate. 90% of the gameplay online and single player are useless because the difficulty can not be tweaked to be enjoyable either by poor design or by undocumented bugs that will probably carry over to the next patch. I don’t see any passion from the developers of this game or even any sign they have tried playing this sh!t themselves. Just no sense of pride in the product. But, that’s just what I think.
i think ea will milk this once great franchise into the dirt. codemasters weren't that good the last 3 years prior to the takeover. and i think esports should use an actual simulator like iracing, ac anything but a consumer arcade game
The fact they make it sound like they’re bringing revolutionary realism technology when assetto corsa has been out for 10 years is wild lol. The goal of the game clearly isn’t realism as it isn’t and never will be a sim!! Focus on making it enjoyable to drive and making it FUN, engaging and immersive to play. With awesome story modes and career and great online play. That’s all we need.
I see your concerns. As a casual player, playing a few times a week at 80-85 difficulty against AI, i have seen no reason at all to buy every new game. I play every game 2-3 years.
I'm a career player and the consistent flaws from year to year dont make me very excited. The inconsistent difficulty, the impossible goals in practice programs, the AI never coming off second best and constantly taking you out with things that would no question incur a penalty in a real race...endless simple things that never change. All of the fancy new stuff means nothing to me while they copy and paste 90% of the game.
No new engine no 60 quid stolen from me. We can't have games in 2024 look like they were made in 2010. I'm done looking at this poor graphics for 6 years straight.
Gaming really dived after COVID time. Since then my 3 favourite games dirt rally 2 f12020 and PES 2020/2021 have been replaced with lazy money grabbing downgrades. Gaming is now all about online gaming and old game remakes !
Its all BS to sell a video game. Only reason i get it is for league racing. Wtf are old consoles still supoorted. I have doubts they can make a good game with a whole new engine
People keep paying for the same lack of quality and expect better results. Stop giving them your money until they step it up. It's clear they could care less.
im also concerned,i like finally that they update single player career as i also enjoy that ,but the rest...for 70€? we deserve more as buyers...im still gonna wait for a sale as always
At this point, even if it is F1 23 but with better servers, online stability and a working crossplay, I'd take it tbh. But even that seems like asking way too much
I'm done with F1 games tbh, once I tried iRacing, F1 just didn't make sense to me anymore. It's a much more challenging/rewarding/realistic experience!
Over 114 hours played in F1 22 and only one conclusion to tyers. If the estimated grip is for 5 laps after 6 laps its unplayable whatever you do. It's just scripted. That's my conclusion. I wonder whats yours is.
The game is just F1 23 and simply improved minor things which is good but it doesnt make sense to buy a whole ass new game for it. Rather they should update F1 23 ,like atleast the graphics and career mode. No way buying a whole new game just for these small improvements is justified.
2:15 - Sorry but I disagree with that. EA learned a long time ago that they don't have to put any effort in and people will buy the new game anyway. There are plenty of channels where you can find a copy/paste video complaining about how they bought FIFA and it was a waste of money going back 5 or 6 years. They bought all of them, complained about all of the same things, said EA were evil and then got their pre-orders in for the DELUXE MEGA-EDITON of next year's game. It'll be the same game every year with new logos, liveries and a minor gameplay calibration until people stop buying the game. When they do that, they'll deserve respect.
I like the little updates to the career mode, which would’ve been nice to put in the last game, but I’m not sold on the ‘NEW’ handling model. F1 23 handling was great imo, same game engine since 2015, I’m not sold on it and I’ll be holding my money. Thank you for being honest Limitless
Do you guys have online services for F1 23? I do not have any ranked lobbies or ranked multiplayer? Like they totally shut down the servers or is it something with my connection?
All any big companies do these days. Are give minimal upgrade, be it hardware or software. And it's the hype train people fall for. It's just a bunch of word salad to bamboozle all the sheep.
Looks garbage. Sick of these lazy ****S putting in no effort for years on end. Hope they make no money and forces them to actually attempt to make a decent game rather than adding one useless feature and calling it a day
It’s just a patch with new liveries, tracks, etc. to match the current season. To boring for me this time around after having played the last three years versions
Just skip a generation or two every time. It's not hard. I bought F1 2017, F1 2020 and F1 2023. Probably getting the next one in 2026 after the rule change
Welcome to EA F1 community….they will update every year with tiny changes and charge full price with all the marketing to try and convince that this is groundbreaking. Just patiently waiting for F1 ultimate team to release for the money grab 🙄
