I explain the reasons that caused me to move to Tokyo in August 2018. Living and working in Japan has been an adventure. This is my story of why I decided to completely change my life and move abroad. The process of moving to Japan was challenging but I’m so glad I did it! If you take anything away from this video, I hope that it is that you should’t give up easily, spend your time wisely and take every opportunity you can get!
This is my storytime about how my illness has driven me to change my life and go after what I really wanted. Changing your life is hard but just know you’re not alone!
Japan is the most exciting and culturally different place I have ever been to. It has so much to offer! I hope you can follow my journey and we can explore this incredible place together!

True you are far less interested in the positives so the negatives stand out for u when a place is your home country for sure. Spend enough time anywhere and the novelty wears off. The average "imma go to japan" person stays 1-2 years then leaves because they dont become so fluent in the language then complain they always feel like a foreigner. And yes you will be treated as a foreigner regardless but more so if you barely speak Japanese. I admit I skipped through this video but i legit went from "my reasons for moving to japan probably arent like most people" to "I really liked anime" etc LOL! I was like "so, exactly like 80% of people that move there, i like anime. Im sure thats not true as i skipped most of this video but it amuses me i happened to skip between those parts. Good luck to her!

I'm moving to Japan to study Japanese. It's the easiest and fastest way to move there and also a very good reason to do it. Only wish i had figured out that my government supports these kind of studies to Japan sooner. Without the student loan it would have been impossible for people who aren't rich already. Getting a job in Japan while abroad is very very difficult unless it's an English teaching job, and those are pretty much the only reasons why you can move there.

I have periodical strokes And my life is still dragged by rehabilitation. And Being a foreigner as yourself In Japan, I would imagine that you would have so many difficulties and challenges that you have not mentioned over the video. Thank you for making this informative and personal video. I always thought ur accent was rly unique, would have never guessed that u come from such a interesting multicultural background.Ive noticed that well travelled people like you tend to be super cool and charismatic. I have huge respect for u for staying positive and strong. Living with a chronic condition myself ur experience rly resonates with me especially the "time being stolen from u"part.My energy level is so low i can barely get the simple things done.The mental duress is even worse, I'm so tired of battling with depression on a daily basis. This video makes me feel a little better tho, maybe there's light at the end of the tunnel.I hope someday i can function like a normal person and get my life back. I can also relate to ur experience of moving countries. I was born in Russia and moved to another country when i was 6, then i moved again when i was a teenager.Had a really hard time adapting and mastering new languages,but i do enjoy moving around and getting the taste of different cultures. Just out of curiosity, are you still fluent in Russian? i am very slow at picking up languages and since I'm very out of practice my spoken russian is rusty af even tho it was my first language, it's quite a shame.Also are you planning to learn/currently learning Japanese, if so how's the language learning experience for u?

It must have been so hard for you. It's very different but I broke my ankle 2 months ago and for 2 months I felt trapped too, staying home all the time when I used to be very active with a busy schedule, go to work, bike, going to the gym, go out to take photos, meet friends... so I can't even imagine how it must have been for you for 2 freaking years. Whoa.... that is a crazy story. I hope you get to visit all the places you've ever dreamed about. This was a crazy story. I am so proud of you. You're doing exactly what you want. It's not stupid for being emotional. That sounds pretty traumatic. But that's all past you now. I feel much closer to you as a person. This seemed like a hard video to do but you did it so well. Lmao only 10 minutes for them to give you an answer?! I've learned all those lessons in my own way. But it's still good to hear the stories. Oh no the trauma I keep locked away is seeping out! I gotta go listen to metal. K, love you bye!

Thank you!! It seems crazy when I think about it too 😂 the whole time was just a wild blur. I have a little scar on my back and I’m like oh what where is this from and then I’m like ohhhhhhh 😂 emotions bleh! Lol I know right, you prepare for months and months and then it’s like this big thing that’s over in a few minutes. You DO technically have to wait for a response and it can take up to 6 weeks but I got mine very quickly thanks to some help from a friend. Some people get it straight away, others are in for a long and agonising wait.

I can't help but wonder (in a good way) how times have changed. Here we have you from Samarkand, which was probably the only cosmopolitan city in the world on the famed silk road for over thousand years, escaping to the west to learn English from a Japanese TV program. WOW, that's mind-blowing. BTW, Samarkand was ruled by Hindus, Persians, Greeks, Mongols, Buddhists, Muslims, Russians, and every Tom, Dick, and Hassan who could ride a bloody camel. When I first heard you speak, I knew you had some connection to Ukraine since I recognized some inflections from my Ukrainian neighbors in America. Glad you made it to Japan.

WOW! What a riveting story! You have incredible strength of character Marianna. The things you accomplished on your own, especially learning languages, despite the hardships you faced. How many languages can you speak, and how long did it take for you to become fluent in them? Your English is excellent! Did you find learning Japanese difficult? Kudos for you Marianna, and all you've accomplished. I'm so very happy for you that you made it to Japan, finally! Well done!
@MariannaVlogs
@MariannaVlogs 5 лет назад
Thank you so much! I speak/write three fluently (Russian/Ukrainian/English) and I’m at conversational level for French and Spanish (I studied Latin for three years and this makes European languages a bit easier to pick up). It took me about two years to learn English to advanced level and then maybe another year to be fluent. Ukrainian is very similar to Russian so that was very quick. Maybe about a year to get it fully fluent. I think when you’re younger your brain is more open to learning languages. I am only in the process of learning Japanese. Speaking is much easier than reading or writing but I think that might be my personal downfall as I found this to be a struggle every time I learned a language.

This was moving, really. It is an example on how hard life can hit. But your story is now going along a very positive path! I can understand your sorrow for having lost some time of your life in such a though situation, but was it really a full waste of time? You developed one of the most fundamental traits for a human being: resilience! It will help you to go through the future difficulties (hopefully much less heavy) in your life. You are well-equipped to enjoy the good things and deal with bad ones! Just a question: do you plan to stay in Japan or do you want to resume the project of learning many cultures by leaving in different parts of the world?

You're always so SINCERE! A VERY LIKEABLE PERSON!!! I loved watching this video! You may not know ,but I believe you gave many people some lights&hopes ! You're a very smart young lady! I'm so shocked to hear about your back surgery story...that is so bizarre that you had an extra bone growing & causing that tremendous pain! I've always been having some back issue as well( my sister's case is worse) & a physical therapy was the BEST thing ever for that solution! I've been stretching almost everyday ever since I learned. The accents of yours was another interesting story as I'm Japanese but don't really have a Japanese accent, I was taught English since I was 6 years old,then had so many different English teachers with different Nationalities! Thank you so much!! And I am sorry to hear about your sisters and yours back problem! Back problems are the worst but I am so glad that physiotherapy helps! I hope you both continue to improve greatly!! I remember having to do a lot of physiotherapy after surgery and it helped the recovery so much! I think it’s important for everyone to remember to take care of our bodies. I can definitely understand what you mean about your accent. Having so many teachers would make you pick up various influences from all over the UK and even America. It’s definitely unique and I love it as well! Thank you so much for your comment!! Hope you have an amazing day ❤️🌸🌸🌸

This was very intresting and inspirational video! It's been me and my husband's dream to move to Japan as well. Do you have any suggestions to how to start the process? I'm really curious about the visa application process as everywhere I read it always says that you need to have a job first. Did you get the visa through work or did you find work after you came to Japan? Thank you so much for your time!
@MariannaVlogs

Thank you! ❤️ This depends where you are from. I will be filming a visa process video this week! There are several ways to go about it but for a working/humanities visa normally you would need a job to sponsor you. I came on a working holiday visa (UK) and found work once I arrived. If you come on a temporary residency visa like the WH one then you can find a job that will sponsor a full working visa once you’re here as a lot of them require you to be in the country when you apply. But I will cover as many visa options as I can in the video as I’ve gone through the humanities visa process as well ❤️

Interesting video, I myself love Japan, even just by watching NHK news, and you could see everything there from total innovation,creativity and like you said adventurous , for me I know Japan in a historic level , having different cultures like shegundo which is a combination of Buddhist and mountain worship, Zen/Mahayana Buddhism and of course Shintoism. And all the way north of Hokkaido you'll find Ainu indigenous people with shamanism beliefs and the cuisines in Japan are amazing and artistic at the same time truly love it 👍🗻🌹❤

Then you must visit Azabu Juban.. its Sailormoon real live scenes. I went there to explore sailor mars' hikawa shrine, arisugawa park, kimi chan statue etc... they are my childhood favourites too. :) Good luck girl. You are so brave to take this step to Japan. I hope I could too.
