I own all my gear. I get a lot of last minute projects in and i would never be able to do all of those if i have to rent them first. Plus, you can take low budget projects that you would really love to shoot as well. Those projects most of the time only have budget for film and edit itself.

That's a great addition to what I said. So much easier to adjust your prices when you don't have a specific expense for all gear being used! Thanks for contributing and adding this!

@@kriswarwick Also, what a lot of people forget is that most of the time you will have to rent the gear for 2 days because a lot of times you cant rent, film and bring back on the same day. I made a list of what all my gear costs to rent. For 1 day it costs 369,- and for two days it costs 553,- If the budget is 1000,- im only making for 447 If the budget is 500,- i can't even take it because that would cost me money. I do smaller 500,- gigs from time to time. Video's i can shoot and edit in a few hours. A lot of times those smaller gigs add up in the end and i made over 4K in a month with some smaller gigs. Also would not be possible if you do not own your gear.

@@insayno Another valid point here! I think more creators should read this, as this can make or break your business model!

That's what I am going for! Thanks. I don't think you need a full introduction if you already read the title and thumbnail. Love that you pointed this out!

i love your content as a begnner on filmmaking and photography but let me ask why your videos are always so dark ? i don't like it, I mean the lighting usually is fine but the shadows always too dark that bothers me, I cant tell you like dramatic lighting but its not over exaggerated ?

Thanks for commenting! First do all, I’m glad my content can help you and I hope it will be even more of a resource in the time to come! It’s a great question. I think this is totally up to the person watching/making the content. If you want a moody look, cool. If you don’t want that, then this might be too much. That being said, I have started to think about changing it and at least mixing it up more. I have a very long term strategy for this channel, and therefore some of the content was made a long time ago. But in my newer videos you’ll probably see a bit less of that moody/dramatic look. I also want to emphasize that this is a GREAT example of how you should approach your own filmmaking. Everything you make, and the style you have, might not be everybody’s cup of tea. Accepting that is sometimes hard, but as soon as you come to terms with that, you’ll feel more free. But know that I do take your opinion and feedback seriously, and will probably be even more aware of this in the future. As for this video, my opinion is that this was more than within the “rules” of filmmaking and within the style I was going for!
