Love editing for this one, shit was fire af! But I have to disagree with your reasoning lol. Shojo, Josei and other anime originals offer a different take on storytelling. And even if shonen and seinen are being to mesh tropes, that doesn’t include the others and I still think it’s a good to explore. But at the end of the day, watch what you want.
I feel you, and eventually I’ll delve into more series, especially shoujo just to better understand aspects of anime and and the culture but I rlly just wanted to make this to highlight how diverse Shonen is and reinforce that Shonen is just a demo not the genre that some think it is
First W vid, now I don't blame you for liking mostly shonen for now cuz of your age range but to me it starts to bother me when ppl go into there mid 20s and older and still only like shonen and claim to know a lot about anime when in reality they don't and stuck with the same tropes. Now shonen could be your favorite genre but if you don't like any shojo, or romance not made by jump, or any scifi and you are not in the age demographic for shonen then I can't take you seriously. Idk to me older shonen fans are the most annoying demographic of anime fans. Anyways love the video, keep grinding, and please watch other genres even if you are in your shonen mode. Try Monster, Madoka Magica, Samurai Champloo, Wotakoi and others

For me, I’ve seen a lot of shonen anime, but most of my favorite anime aren’t shonen. Shonen feels restricted in a lot of ways, like because of its demographic almost everything gets overexplained. Subtly in shonen is basically non-existent. Also a lot of shonen plays it safe, they take creative risks at first, but often after a certain point, they just stop trying to evolve anymore. Like you’d never see something like the farm arc in Vinland Saga, kill the main character way before the ending, or switch focus to to characters outside the main character for large parts of the story like OPM (it’s not shonen jump, it just gets published there as well, it’s a web comic first). The vast majority of shonen protagonist are teenagers and barely age beyond that point, they also rarely are younger than 12-13 either at any point outside a backstory. Another example of a manga you’d never see in shonen jump is Made in Abyss, it’s way too weird and dark for it to fit into the mold of shonen. Shonen can get dark, but it always has to be cool or sexy in some way… You rarely see intentionally ugly and genuinely disturbing stuff in shonen that can’t just be punched to death. Shonen is good and sometimes great, but almost never is a masterpiece.

Forsure, I’m definitely watching those, and I’ll watch more, this vid was rlly just an excuse to highlight the diversity of the Shonen demo & tone down potential elitists💀💀
